I started out pretty excited that there was BBQ place I could get delivered (via uber eats) and ended a sad, disappointed and hungry person. First, they didn't even get my order right. What they did send was a sad excuse for BBQ. The ribs were so over cooked they were tough and black and I actually couldn't eat them due to the inability to chew and digest charcoal. The brisket was so dry it was chewy and as easy to swallow as a spoonful of flour, with about as much flavor. And my salad was a bowl of chopped lettuce. It didn't even have dressing. They did go ahead and send some tasteless cups of BBQ sauce with it so I guess thanks for that. There are plenty of great BBQ places in Tucson, don't waste your time on this garbage. read more

Their food is very tasty but a little pricey. We did a delivery using one of those services that bring food to your house. The order wasn't completely right. We had ordered a side of fries but because the people picking up were late, they substituted chips. We called the next day when they were open and were told that the fries would have been too soggy. The fries were $2.75, so we were charged that much for a tiny bag of chips. Had we not called, we would have been stuck paying that. However, we were transferred to a manage and she was able to refund the money. My only reservation now is that I think they should have called to ask if we'd rather have a side of potato salad or something more comparable for the money, but they did at least make good on it when we called them and overall, I would recommend them. read more

I have eaten here twice. The food is good but the prices are pretty high for the portion sizes. My fiancé and I have left both times paying around $35 for the both of us but still seem to be hungry afterwards. This location has very good meat -- the brisket is fat- and gristle-free, tender and tasty. The pork ribs are also very good. The sides, however, disappoint. The price vs. Portions are ridiculous. The brisket and kielbasa tasted ok but not great or worth $18 a pound. Door Dash delivered our food and it was fine but when the delivery person questioned the 2 salads vs. 4 we ordered he was told four were combined into 2 containers. Oh my gosh these containers were small so I sent my daughter to pick up 2 more medium sized salads and she was shown a medium container which might hold 4 tablespoons of lettuce. What a RIP off. For the second year in a row we had Dickey's cater our 50 person Halloween party. The delivery arrived in a timely manner by a young man who was friendly and professional. We had the hot/cold racks ready and in a short time everything was unwrapped and placed out buffet style for our guests and all the trash was removed. We had pork & chicken, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls and BBQ sauce. In addition, plates, plastic-ware, napkins and serving utensils were also provided for our convenience. Everything was very tasty and there was plenty of food for our guests to have their fill. Many of our guests also commented on how good the buffet was. Sad story, we live in Oro Valley. Recently the Dickies in our neighborhood closed. Mostly we heard because Dickies corporate violated their own mileage limit of where another Dickies could operate. So, last evening we ordered online for a pick up at 1:30 4th of July. When we arrived at the Thornydale location, nobody who was working knew anything about it. It was prepaid. After looking in the office, an employee found our order laying on the desk????? While the food is good, the words, "I'm sorry" never were heard. This place should retrain their employees to apologize when they make a mistake....period!!!! Seemed like we were putting them out. Customer service is key. This place wouldn't be worth it even if it wasn't slightly overpriced. The ribs were tough and the sauce wasn't very good. The Mac and cheese had an okay taste but was so over cooked that it was all one sludgy texture. The creamed spinach was watery and just gross. Even the bun that came with the meal, although soft and fresh, had absolutely no flavor to it! Tucson doesn't have a huge BBQ Scene but there are many places in town better than this place. I'm a little sad we didn't enjoy this place more than we did. Upon entering there was about a 15 minute wait to order although the one couple ahead of us had completed their order and moved on. Not a big deal but it does say a little something about customer service because as we stood by the register it took the gentlemen a good 5 minutes to even acknowledge us and another 10 min, at least, to take our order. Sitting at a table waiting is one thing, standing that long in an almost empty restaurant is another. The ice machine wasn't working so I had to track someone down to get us ice from somewhere in the back. I think I ended up with about 1/2 cup of ice to split between 2 drinks. My son ordered pulled pork with a side of Mac and cheese. He thought the pork had good flavor, was nice and tender and overall pretty good. My husband ordered Mac and cheese with a beef brisket slider and I also had a brisket slider. The brisket itself was quite tender and had good flavor. I can't say it was juicy, as advertised but it was good. I think the fail here is all about the BBQ sauce itself, it's a runny, like water consistency and the flavor, we tried both the sweet and original, was not even on par with a bottle of sauce that can be bought in any grocery store. I'd consider stopping in again to buy the meat itself but I'd definitely take it home and make my own sauce and have a much more enjoyable meal. read more

I can say that this particular Dickeys knows how to operate a smoker and produce some of the most mouth watering brisket and pork I've ever had. I ordered the brisket and pork plate with mac n cheese and BBQ beans. The second that brisket hit my lips, I knew I was in love. The most tender, smokey, juicy brisket I've ever had. Throw on some of their 3 choices of sauces and get ready to take a euphoric roller coaster ride to pleasure town. Went here last Sunday, it was still busy at 1:30pm, slowed down around 2:15pm. It was very warm inside. They need some ceiling fans instead of the wagon wheel lights. They give so little for so much. They were in the heating lamp. They give you like children plates. Most everything was cold. They were rude when I tell them that they are have cold meat and they refuse to get fresh. By the time I want to get the ice cream cone. They most break all of them. This is the 5th time I've ordered from Dickey's in the last year and every time my order is missing items. This order was missing 3 sides and an extra roll. For a family of 7, that's a big deal. I'm supposed to be getting a partial refund, so I'll be watching my account for that. Last time, I was charged for the order, but they were out of all of the meats I selected. After 2 hours on the phone, I was finally refunded. The time before that, all of my sides we're missing. The first 2 times, there was no barbeque sauce with my order. (Who eats pulled pork without barbeque sauce?) The only way I would have food at this location again would be to dine in, so I can make sure I get everything I pay for. But I'm not risking the health of my 5 children to eat out during a pandemic. The staff has always been polite and professional, but there needs to be some training and quality-control procedures put in place. read more

Be forewarned, though, that this location does not honor the pricing or promotions in the nearly daily emails that I receive from Dickey's customer loyalty program. I drove nearly 30 mins today to take advantage of a 'one day only' deal on pulled pork sandwiches only to learn that this store doesn't 'participate' in corporate promotions. I tried this place for the first time for lunch. We walked in and were completely ignored. After the poor customer before me gave his order to a young woman who treated him like an idiot, I waited to see if she would ask me to step forward, or if I was supposed to wait at the railing. She completely ignored me. So, I stepped forward, and waited again. She just kept cutting the meat on the counter in front of her. That was pretty much how our whole experience was. The woman behind the counter (a manager, no less) clearly hates her job. She was rude, cold, and impatient, in a bored sort of way. The food itself is the reason I gave two stars instead of one. Yes, it's overpriced, but there was some good flavor in the meat, so there is hope for this place. The meat was a bit dry, and the condiments are seriously lacking. If they'd hire some decent customer service reps, provide more and better toppings for sandwiches, and rethink their pricing, they could have a chance. Horrible horrible customer service! I ordered food directly from their website and got it delivered through DoorDash. Had half of the items missing. I contacted the driver and he said that he asked for the items but they said that they didn't come with my order. I contacted the restaurant and they asked me to contact DoorDash directly when I hadn't even ordered through DoorDash to begin with. I spoke to the manager and no help at all. Very rude. I contacted DoorDash and they mentioned that since I didn't order through them that they had no responsibility. Contacted the store again and they just assured me that one of the missing items was placed in the bag, but what about the other items? They were so rude and I was simply just trying to get the food that I paid for. The manager then mentioned that I would get a refund of $6 and that it should be enough to cover what was missing. My family and I always come here but we will definitely not be going back again. I never write reviews like this but I was so shocked by the result that I had to warn others. read more

Quite disappointing. I made a wrong turn and ended up in the parking lot and I noticed that they were stacks of hickory wood in front of me. Must be a barbecue place. Since I was attending a vegetarian dinner that night I figured it might be a good idea to stock up on some protein. Brisket and pulled pork or my two choices. I'm glad that they do not apply the barbecue sauce before hand. I never like it when a place does that. It's cheating. But I'm glad I got some cups of barbecue sauce because the meet was so dry that I had to use it for lubricant. Kind of like mayonnaise- It doesn't really have much flavor, but it makes an excellent sandwich lubricant. I had to apply quite a bit of salt on the meat as well. There just wasn't much flavor and it was dry. The brisket was chopped and I prefer my slices of brisket in, well slices. The mac & cheese could've been craft. The fried okra is pretty much just frozen okra. Staff was nice. And the free soft serve ice cream cone machine is definitely a major attraction, for every other table had small children who undoubtedly asked to go to Dickies not for the food, but for that little ice cream cone afterwards. read more

So I decided to give this place a try. I ordered online and picked from the choices offered online . Type of bbq sauce , I chose onions and pickles and slaw to be added to my pulled pork sandwiches. So I send my daughter to pickup our food . She brings it home promptly, the sandwiches are cold, and none of my choices were on the sandwiches! The food only gets 3 stars (dry meat, no BBQ sauce included on a to-go order, salty side dishes), but they lose 2 of them on the customer service. Even though everyone shouts "Welcome" when you walk in the door, they don't seem to notice you after that, I had to wait forever until the person behind the counter took my order. The menu is impossible to understand. They send out coupons showing a picture of sandwich platter with 2 sides, but it wasn't until after I placed my order that I found out the side dishes don't' come with it and cost extra. I told the manager that that was deceptive, and he was rude to me in front of all the other people in the very long line that developed due to the slow counter service. The cashier was too busy chatting with the customer in front of me to finish my transaction. All in all, a very unpleasant experience - I won't be going back. read more
