Peach Green/ Black Tea and a Brown Sugar Coffee
    Trevor T.

Ordered a peach green tea and it was refreshing on the surprisingly hot Sunday. Inside was super clean and empty because we arrived at 11am. They have some claw machines and board games. Free Wi-Fi and food. Would totally come here if I needed to study for a big test. My only complaint are the lids. It is hard to puncture and my wife broke her straw. I centimetered my straw in but then it created this suction event every time I took a sip. I need someone to teach me lol

This suite in the Mira Mesa Mall was the first San Diego area location of Ding Tea before it branched out to other neighborhoods around the county. The parking here was plentiful because of the large shared lots. The inside had plenty of seating and seemed to be a popular hangout. When I first visited Ding Tea several years ago, the products were very satisfying. Now with the ongoing proliferation of boba tea shops, I've decided to recalibrate my assessment. My order was a large peach green tea with brown sugar boba added with less ice and regular sweetness. I don't know if the brown sugar or crystal pearls made much difference other than being different colors. The chewiness was decent but not the best I have sampled. As for the tea flavor and sweetness, they didn't really stand out like before. The prices have certainly increased yet they remained competitive so that was a positive. For all of my past experiences with Ding Tea, I gave the Mira Mesa shop a three star rating.

First time at this location, we stopped by after shopping in this shopping center. Upon entering there were a few customers ahead of us. Once we ordered, everyone got their orders and exited. We hung around for a bit to get a breather from shopping. Plenty of chairs and tables in the shop. They have restroom for use. I was going to use the bathroom but the area was filled with boxes of their supplies and the restroom was dirty with no tissue paper so I left but told the staff they ran out of tissue paper. Customer service was just okay here. They seem busy and distracted. We ordered two taro milk tea drinks; 75% and 100% sweetened and a lychee aloe drink. They were decent.

There weren't much of caffeine free options so I had their brown sugar milk tea. Which had the perfect amount of sweetness but their boba... boba, boba, boba. Wrong texture all the way. Disappointing. It wasn't cooked all the way so the middle of boba was a hard texture. The guy who helped me with my order was kind enough for me to try a white jelly, which wasn't my favorite either. There were few seatings around. It was pretty cozy. But it didn't scream, oh, I would come back here to tele work. Overall, I would come back and try it again if I'm around.

I've been coming to this Ding Tea for several years. I'm not sure what changed recently, but it's not been a great transition. A few times before this visit, I've asked them to change my drink after trying it in store because it didn't taste right. This time was the worst. I ordered 2 Jasmine Milk Teas and an Oolong Milk Tea. There was a mistake and they made one of the Jasmine without the milk powder, but they were nice enough to fix it. I drove back home and then the Jasmine Milk Tea they made correctly the first time had 0 sugar. The only adjustment was 30% ice. The Oolong Milk Tea tastes like Almond Milk Tea with that strong artificial almond flavor. This is the 3rd time I've gotten Oolong Milk Tea here in a row and it's not been right. I can't even taste the tea flavor like before on both teas. It seems like they have a change in management and they seem nice, but I'm not coming here for friendly service. I pick up tea and I leave‍

Mango Yakult / Yogurt with grass jelly & Signature Milk Tea with boba
    Caitlin D.

Did not know that there was a Ding Tea within this shopping area and I'm always at Marshall's! It was very hot outside today (nearly 80F) and so a nice iced drink was perfect to stay cool. I came with my cousin. She ordered the mango yakult with grass jelly, half sweet. She usually orders 0% sweet, but for this specific drink you can only get it half sweet. She said the flavor was really good but she wished they used a different shape ice and less amount. It made it difficult to get to the grass jelly. I ordered the signature milk tea with black boba, 75% sweet. The boba didn't feel super freshly made (not warm), and it was borderline chewy. If it stayed with the ice it would have been hard. The signature milk tea was a little lacking. Nothing worth to be called "signature," I'm not sure why it's popular since it was pretty average. Next time I'd try the Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea. I wanted the honey boba which is what Ding Tea specializes in, but sadly, they didn't have it today (ran out already??) The workers were nice. The tables were nice, clean, and sanitized. Big space with cute decor. If I'm in the area, I'll come here for boba! Recommend to try it out for something refreshing.

Best Popcorn chicken in all of SD! I love the crunch and look at that basil!!! Flavor and chicken texture is on point! Their drinks always hit the spot with lots of toppings choices and always consistent. Staff are very helpful and friendly whenever I visit.

One of the few places in Mira Mesa opened till 11pm. Good amount of tables to choose from, and I like coming here to chat or play board games :) highly recommend the aloe vera kiwi juice, just a very refreshing drink and feels healthy too. Employees are chill and they serve the drinks fast!

Ask the Community - Ding Tea

Do they still serve popcorn chicken?

    Not anymore

How come some drink you get a clear cup and others a solid paper one?

Clear is for the teas and milk tea drinks. Paper cup is for any drink with fruit flavoring in it (fruit tea, yogurt drink). I asked a worker why and they said they had to do it.

Was there a change in ownership within the last year?

Difference between crystal and golden boba?

Crystal boba is a sphere-shaped agar-jelly. Has a nice bite to it. Golden boba is the tapioca you probably have seen everywhere else

Do they offer milk tea slushes?

    they don't have any slushes

Is there an option to have a milk tea dairy free (ex with almond or soy milk)?

I'm not 100% sure, but it depends on the drink. For coffee drinks, they use non dairy creamer. For thai tea they use half n half. But I'm not sure about milk tea..

Can you get any drink without added sugar? Or are they pre-sweetened?

For milk tea or tea that comes with fruit flavor, it is pre-sweetened. You can ask the cashier for recommendation or adjust the sugar in your drink.

Do you sell gift cards for your location?

How noise is it on a Saturday to do work and study? Thank you(:

noisy... If you need it quiet- not the place. People are always in and out. There are tables outside that would be good for studying.

We chose to sit down since we also wanted to try their food along with the drinks. For drinks, my husband ordered the matcha boba and I got the taro with boba. Both were really good--the flavors actually come through, not watered down or too sweet. I also really liked the texture of the ice; it was finely crushed, which made the drinks extra enjoyable. The cups themselves were also really cute and well-designed. For food, I ordered the breaded pork in teriyaki sauce with rice, which also came with three side dishes. It included pickled cucumber (which was really good), a stir-fried cabbage and carrot mix, and another stir-fried vegetable I wasn't familiar with but still enjoyed. My kids especially liked the teriyaki sauce. We also tried the chicken popcorn and my husband ordered the pork chop, which had that authentic Taiwanese bento-style taste we were hoping for. One thing I really appreciated is that they included small bowls for the kids and extra utensils without us even asking--that was a thoughtful touch and definitely a plus for me. Overall, we really enjoyed everything we ordered. The food felt authentic, the drinks were solid, and service was fast. We're definitely planning to come back again with the whole family.

I'm surprised some people could sit down and work/study successfully. Note: I had a positive experience last time getting a blended drink, but today I felt like trying their Thai Tea (not blended) and two Korean Corn Dogs. I ordered the hot Cheeto one with cheese and sausage. Did not wind up receiving the hot Cheeto one. Got a regular one with all cheese, no sausage. Partner got a potato one with cheese and sausage, but only 25% of the filling was sausage. We ate them anyways and wanted to leave it at that since the parking was so difficult. Then my stomach started gurgling in a very wrong way. I don't know if something went wrong with the Thai tea (was the milk they used expired?), or with my Korean corn dog possibly being prepared wrong with a new hire, but my body rejected it violently once I got home. I'd be very cautious about coming back here. Most likely won't. Couldn't finish my Thai Tea. Had to throw it out. I'm hoping this was just an unfortunate one time thing, because it seems like people for the most part have a good experience from their food and drinks. This is my third ever time visiting Urban Bubble. The past two visits were for blended drinks and they were great! The girl working the cash register on the evening of 4/24 around 8:00PM was really helpful with suggesting recommendations and did great. I don't know who prepared my food and drink but maybe they need extra training, heads up. If you order food, I suggest that you check the food before leaving the building instead of trusting that it was correct and finding out once you've already left.

Between my own drinks and drinks for family members, I would typically spend anywhere from $10 to $25 per day here. Unfortunately, the quality has become very inconsistent. Sometimes the drinks are great, but recently the boba has been terrible. For the last three days, the boba has been burnt, hard, and crispy. It feels like the same batch is being left out all day and served long after it should have been replaced. Yesterday, I ordered three drinks through DoorDash. I understand that ordering through a delivery service costs more, but I pay the extra charge because it saves time. One of the teas was ordered without ice because I have a one-hour commute home and didn't want watered-down tea. When I got home, I found that the cup was barely over half full. I know DoorDash includes a disclaimer that drinks without ice may not be filled to the top, but we're talking about tea here. Filling the cup properly would have cost very little, and receiving a drink that was less than three-quarters full felt like a slap in the face. Today, I decided to give them one last chance and ordered another drink online during my lunch break. Again, I paid extra for the convenience of ordering ahead because I don't have time to stand in line and wait. When I arrived at 11:30, I was told the boba wasn't ready yet. Not only did I not get what I ordered and paid for, but I ended up waiting while other customers were served. I had to return to work late, frustrated, and stuck with a tea without boba that I had overpaid for. After spending a significant amount of money here over time, I'm disappointed to say they've lost a loyal customer. Consistent quality and better customer service would go a long way.
