MMMMM!!! Pleasantly surprised on how amazing this boba is! I ordered a Matcha latte no sugar and regular ice with almond milk and golden boba AND a chocolate milk tea half sweet, reg ice and with golden boba. Matcha flavor was pretty good (i like it a bit more stronger) but it wasn't bad since it costed about $4. The boba itself was super sweet so the 0% sweetness added to the drink was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. My friend kept drinking her boba and kept telling me she loved it and it was super good! It's a DEF recommend for me, and I will be back many many many times to satisfy my boba cravings! read more

Of all the boba places I've been to in San Diego (Kung Fu Tea, Boba Bar, Infiniti-tea, Tapioca Express, It's Boba Time), Ding Tea is my favorite - It's Boba Time and Boba Bar are a close second because of their Thai milk tea. I come here probably once to twice a week and I've gotten a few of my friends into coming here as well. I typically order either the Winter melon milk tea or the Winter melon tea both with golden boba. Dude... their golden boba is freaking bomb. I am in LOVE with their boba. It's chewy and sweet, and it's still just as amazing after a day or two in the fridge. That's how you know these are some high-quality tapioca pearls. As most people have mentioned in previous reviews, you can adjust both the level of sweetness and the quantity of ice. Every time I've gone though, they've never gave me too much or too little ice. In addition, I usually consider boba as a dessert so the level of sweetness in the teas doesn't deter me and I don't think its too sweet at all. There also isn't a difference in sweetness between the milk tea and the non-milk tea, and the only way I could determine that the non-milk tea was the non-milk one is just the fact that it's less creamy. The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is the fact that some of their drinks such as the Thai Milk Tea and the Signature Milk Tea (which are considered staples and I feel should be perfected by most, if not all, boba establishments) are not really that amazing. They also just started selling Thai milk tea a couple of months ago so perhaps they didn't have enough time to refine the flavors but I still feel as though this is a drink that boba places should have down. Overall, I love coming here and so far it's my favorite boba place in San Diego. I just wouldn't stray far from my winter melon tea. read more

Great tea, fast service, and affordable pricing. I got the green jasmine milk tea with star jelly and the drink was ready in less than 3 minutes! The drink is highly caffeinated here, which I like! My tea was strong! Star jelly was great to try. Star jelly are shaped like stars (who would've guessed HAHAHA) and is an assortment of fruit flavors. I come here a lot as it's the closest tea place to Carmel Valley. A Happy Lemon recently opened up but they don't offer as many options. Anyway, this Ding Tea is terrible. There are a bunch of kids working there, half focusing, mostly playing on their phones, etc. They mess up our order at least 60% of the times and are pretty rude if you ask them to correct it. Today was the last straw, I ordered a Thai Tea, and it came with tea grounds causing me to almost choke on them. These kids that work here are so incompetent and will harm someone one day. They are truly a liability to the company. I have gone to the La Jolla Ding Tea and the college students there are much, much more capable. read more

This particular location isn't the best, I prefer going to the Ding Tea in Clairemont Mesa on Balboa Avenue. Their drinks have more flavor and they use less ice. But overall, it's pretty good boba. Apparently word on the Asian Streets of San Diego - Ding tea is a very good boba establishment. Because I am Asian and again the word on the streets of San Diego from the Asians made me come here so I can judge for myself. I am by no means a boba and milk tea connoisseur... Honestly I rarely drink milk tea. So I came here after I went grocery shopping and had ordered a green milk tea. Now it didn't look busy at all, but there were at least six people sitting around. I was a little frustrated after I had ordered because then after I had paid the cashier proceeded to tell me that it'll take about 30 minutes for my freakin' drink. If he had told me that before I had ordered, I probably would have walked out the door. I don't know why it would take so long but then when I started to look around, no one else had a freaking drink in their hand or on their table. So because I've already paid and I didn't want to make a scene, I sat down and waited patiently for 30 minutes for my one drink. Finally after I received my drink, it only tasted okay. And I'm not saying this because I was frustrated that I got got, but there was really nothing special about this drink. It was overly sweet even after I said that I want the least sweetness. GET THE GOLDEN BOBA! This place is another one of those fancy, super hip boba places you see popping up all over San Diego. With so many, I usually look for things that really make them stand apart, and for this place, the cute decor, ability to customize drinks (sweetness, ice level), and GOLDEN BOBA is what makes it really good! I also really like that they have other different topping options (coffee jelly, grass jelly, other various jellys.. lol, boba, pudding, etc!). Theres tons of options on their menu. They have an extensive list of different flavored teas & milk teas that would suit anyones preference. Located in the plaza with Crab Hut, CVS and L&L so there is plenty of parking! They have free wifi and I also saw people studying there so also another plus. Great place for drinks, but it definitely lays on the pricier size. Their sizes are comparable to Gong Cha, small is usually less than $5 depending on your drink. There is a credit card fee for anything less than $5. No stamp cards. I've had their jasmine and oolong milk tea so far and love both! My adjustments were boba, less sugar, and minimal ice. They are generous with their toppings so I recommend staying with one topping. Ding Tea shares a parking lot with CVS, Vons, and other stores so there is plenty of space. read more

Ding Tea is currently my favorite boba shop, because the drinks always come out perfectly as expected. There is only golden boba here, but you will not miss the black boba. The golden boba has a nice and chewy texture with a slightly sweet taste that balances with the drinks. The sweetness and ice levels are adjustable, but the normal level is actually reasonable. There is still plenty of sugar in the drinks, but it is not overly sweet so your drink may not be sweet at all if you cut the sugar level down to 30%. Also, the ice at the normal level does not fill up half of your cup so slight ice actually comes out to only a few ice cubes. My favorites are the pineapple tea and the Hokkaido milk tea. The Hokkaido milk tea is a must-try - it is sweet and creamy without being overbearing. Drink quality aside, the line moves pretty quickly, and there is a decent amount of seating inside along with some seating outside around the plaza. This is a good place to hang out. The shop is clean, wi-fi is free, and the prices are fair. The colorful tiled floor and cute wall decors add some charm too. Parking is plentiful in the plaza, which has a few dining options. The only downside is that there is no rewards program here, but I like Ding Tea so much that the lack of rewards program does not deter me from coming back. read more

Super disappointed with this place during covid. Quality of their drinks has dropped significantly. I write after several disappointing visits. I always made it a point to visit ding tea over all other boba places in san diego, but I can no longer endorse the quality or taste. The plastic on the cup was not properly sealed, so my drink emptied out about 20% on the drive home. Their boba is so old (or so poorly made) that they are clumped together and impossible to chew through. I am disappointed in myself for not trying the drink before leaving, because I would have asked - not for it to be re-made- but to be refunded. Now that I am home, i had to filter out and trash all the pearls. I am so confused how, with 4 or 5 employees behind the counter... and with the significant decrease in customers, how they cant get this right. read more

After visiting with some friends in SD, we decided on getting some boba. I know they have plenty of Asian spots in the area, but Ding Tea was the closest to us. I've never heard of it before, but it got good reviews so we decided to give it a shot. Their menu is similar to many other boba shops in the sense that they offer milk teas, fresh tea, flavored teas, and coffees. However, they differ slightly since they also offer drink like yakult/yogurt or fruit juice. I decided to try out the lychee milk tea since I've never seen that before on a boba shop menu. I loved the milky lychee flavor! I will definitely come back to try out the lychee yakult! I also like how the drinks are pretty cheap in comparison to other places like LA like Tea Station, Honey Boba, Oko Cafe, Happy Lemon, and so on. The drinks range from $2.65-$3.45 plus $0.55 for additional toppings. This is still pretty cheap since other boba shops will charge anywhere from $5-6 per drink. I've been craving Ding Tea since I've come back to LA, but I'm looking forward to my next trip back to SD so I can get my fix of Ding Tea! read more

This is a really good boba place in Mira Mesa. It is located in the Mira Mesa mall with other food places, Marshalls, and Bed Bath and Beyond. Ding Tea can get a little packed, but I think they've gotten a lot better with the speed of their service compared to when they first opened. It gets pretty noisy in here so I definitely suggest to NOT do homework here. Wintermelon milk tea is my favorite. It's really the only thing I get when I come here just because it's so good. The golden boba is probably the best boba out of all Mira Mesa boba shops and they give a generous amount in each drink. You can adjust the ice level and sweetness which is really helpful when you don't want watered down drinks or drinks that are too sweet. Definitely recommend trying it out! read more

At first I didn't really understand the initial hype around crystal boba, and I remember being really confused when I tried it for the first time (boba that is weirdly clear, clumpy-looking, and isn't as chewy as regular boba.....why would people like this?!?). .....It then grew on me haha. I think I like it because it's less sweet than regular boba and I don't have the biggest sweet tooth. It also pairs well with fruity drinks. My current go-to drink here is the lychee Yakult drink with crystal boba; very refreshing! I settled on the brown sugar milk tea (also called raw sugar milk tea) with no boba, 70% sugar, and less ice. The drink was pretty good, though with the flavors I tend to get, it's less focused on the tea because I get it so sweet. My spouse got the jasmine green tea, which had a great refreshing flavor (but I didn't really like it because he got much less sugar than I order haha). My brother got the coffee milk tea, which I also liked a lot; I would rather have that than a Starbucks coffee. Average boba place, tucked inside a random complex near crab hut. I wouldn't say I really enjoyed my drink but at least the place is cute and aesthetically pleasing. The fake grass wall with their "shake for life" sign is cute and the booths were comfy. This would be a nice place to study if you're in the area. It wasn't busy around 1-2ish on a Wednesday either. I had a regular Hokkaido black milk tea and it tasted a little too coffee-ish in my opinion. I still liked it.. but I felt like I've been to other places and enjoyed it a lot more. I'm actually really impressed with Ding Tea. I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to bubble tea but Ding Tea didn't disappoint. I got a jasmine milk tea with boba, half sweet and a classic milk tea with grass jelly. The jasmine milk tea was really good and the sugar reduced to half was perfect, if not a little bit still too sweet for me. You could really taste the tea flavor and the milk wasn't overpowering. The boba was chewy, not hard or too soft. The classic milk tea was tasty as well but the jasmine tea was definitely my favorite of the two. The store was empty when I came, customer service was fast and friendly. I also like how they didn't fill half of my cup with sinkers or ice so I actually had tea to drink. read more

My friends and I came here and got boba. We saw a kid go use the restroom and my friend went in shortly after. When my friend came out, I went to use the restroom while waiting for my order. The rude female employee tried to block me from entering the restroom and told me to go to a supermarket. I said it was an emergency and went in anyway. She tried to hold the door open while I pushed it shut and locked it. Then she shit talked me to her coworkers and blocked the path with a trolley. If I had had IBS or a medical condition, this would have completely been discriminatory. It's unacceptable to let two other customers use the restroom but not me. She should be fired.
