Just wanted to do a quick update. Apparently they do not have the regular black boba, so when you say "add boba" they automatically add the $0.55 upcharge for golden boba. The milk tea drinks are certainly of "Tea Station" quality without such a hefty price tag. Just as an FYI... Bobalicious (across the street) does not charge for your first scoop of regular black boba. read more

Brother came home with Dingtea for me to try after dinner today! I asked for Milk Tea with egg pudding - I love how they have egg pudding since there's not many places around here with quality egg pudding. Overall, the drink is a good Milk Tea compared to other places in the area. He said the wait was still relatively long since it's still their opening week and everyone is out trying this new boba spot. I'll be back in person soon for a review on other drinks and service. Overall - solid new boba spot in town! Edit: Came back to this place with my brother and got the Green Milk Tea with boba and egg pudding. It was great and the service was very friendly. First impression: wow the music is incredibly loud. It was difficult to place an order verbally so suggest just pointing at what you want on the menu taped to the counter. We had the taro milk tea and Hokkaido oolong tea (toffee candy) with golden boba. For three large drinks with boba, it was $14.18. The price is pretty reasonable for the excellent quality. The orders take a while to make, but there's obvious care put into every order. Just make sure to listen for your order over the music because one of the employees repeatedly called out the same number for a couple minutes. The taro tea had a subtle taste but it wasn't bad. The toffee candy tea had a coffee like taste and wasn't overly sweet. Both drinks are less sweet than other places but that might be due to the ice cubes. The golden ball are chewy and slightly sweet. It definitely compliments the tea. I will probably stop by in the future but I'll wouldn't stay inside and hang out. read more

Ordered milk tea coffee and it tasted delicious. I don't know of any other boba shop that makes milk tea coffee, although it's pretty easy to make at home. Basically over here it tastes like viet coffee + milk tea, which is already made from black tea (unless you order jasmine milk tea). Giving this place a 1 star though because when I tipped, the cashier literally turned around and *thought* she whispered to her coworker " HE ONLY GAVE 1.37$ and started giggling /flirting with the barista. I could tell the barista was embarrassed because she said it so loud, he didn't respond to her at all. When the receipt printed out she just threw it away, didn't acknowledge me at all. Typically you get a "thank you it'll be right out" or "you order number is 15, thanks". She left me hanging there for a long time and I eventually just walked off to the side to wait for my drink. So awkward. Being a vietnamese american myself as well as working in food service for years when I was still in college , plus seeing how this vietnamese shop had such bad customer service, is pretty sad. Get the honey chai - I'm telling you if you are feeling basic get the honey chai I have to go back to try other flavors but I wasn't feeling risky and guess what? I'm happy about that! It was the perfect way to end my night after my literally stuffed belly full of sushi! I came here for the first time during my visit to CA and the teas tasted really good, tried 4 different flavors of tea here (forgot all the names) but they were all up to par with my expectations. The only comment that I have is the decorations of this place. one wall was decorated with the fake hedges look, while the other one looked bare and uncared for, giving it an old run done studio look. read more

Ding Tea delivers consistency and a broad boba shop menu. They might not have all the bells and whistles or super exotic teas and variations, BUT they do the basics right and it tastes the same each time. They don't usually have bad days here. You can vary up sugar ice to customize and there are two sizes regular and large. My favorite to get from Ding are the hot teas, they come in clutch during the winter or colder days. read more

Every time my bf comes to visit, we're at this place at least once. I've never had a time where the boba was sub-par, it's perfectly chewy and sweet. This is my new favorite spot to get signature milk tea. You can really taste the difference between their milk tea and others, I wish I was more of a tea expert - there's a definite tea flavor that is not overwhelmed by milk and sugar. What I love the most is that they let you choose the amount of sugar AND ice in your drinks. I'll stick with my 1/2 the amount of sugar and my bf loves getting minimal ice in his drink. Hump Day Boba Break! This is our local go-to Boba place. They just do boba RIGHT with a great selection of hot and iced drinks. You can customize sweetness and ice levels to get it just how you like it. We tend to have our drinks made with 30-50% sugar or it's too sweet (because we're sweet enough haha). Rose's faves are taro milk tea and Thai iced tea while Jamie likes Jasmine green milk tea iced or hot. The signature milk tea is great staple too! So grab a drink and take a boba break with a friend. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This is the second time within a two week span where I came and they ran out of ingredients. First time, they ran out of boba. I decided to give them another shot on a weekday, Tuesday, and they ran out of coffee! The employee said they have a new shipment come in every Sunday and they ran out. It was only Tuesday. Since this is a recurring issue, why don't they order more supplies so patrons don't have to waste their time and gas coming here? I called numerous times and no one picks up. This place hides in the second row inside the strip mall. We parked in the back parking lot in front of the bowling place and walked over. At 11:30 on Saturday, there's only one other customer in the store. Staffs were nice. We ordered couple signature milk teas and winter melon milk tea. I got the tea without any modification. The signature milk tea is ok. You can definitely taste the tea flavor in it. It's a little bitter even with all the sugar in it. Winter melon milk tea is way too sweet!! I really like the winter melon milk tea from Kung Fu tea. This one just doesn't work for me. I taste very minimum winter melon flavor in it because of the overloaded sugar. Maybe it's a one time thing where the staff put a little too much sugar cause my friend recommend this drink. I recommend getting it with less sugar if you want to try it. After 10-15 minutes this place started to get busy. Most of the people just order Togo though. We have one of the two large tables for boardgame. There are still a lot of small tables so it's nice. If I'm in Mira Mesa and craving some boba, I'll stop by here. I normally get the strawberry black tea and my gf usually gets Hokkaido oolong milk tea with half sweetness and less ice. However, I was a little disappointed because they didn't have any golden boba tonight considering me and my gf came three hours before closing, but it's ok because we only wanted the tea this time around. Overall, the ambiance of the place is good for hanging out with friends and they have a lot of outlets for laptops and free WiFi for people that want to study here. I was so surprised by the tea here. I've heard so many good times about it, but I have to say I'm not a huge fan ... yet. They only have drinks here - no popcorn chicken or fried tofu, etc. I was here on a cold day, so I decided on a hot drink. The server told me I could get any milk tea hot as long as it wasn't a fruit-flavored one. I ended up getting a hot jasmine green tea with boba. The drink was undrinkable. The tea was so bitter. The boba was pretty bad. It didn't have the jasmine taste (or smell) at all! The only thing I liked was that they remembered the spoon (for the boba). I actually left the place and went back inside because I couldn't finish it. The lady was nice enough to switch it to a different drink altogether. I was cautious and just ordered the hot signature milk tea with boba. Their version of milk tea is definitely different, and the boba is not sweet. I had to get used to the tea, but I wouldn't say I like it. My boyfriend's jasmine green milk tea was iced, and it tasted the same as mine hot. So I'm thinking it's just the way they prepare their green tea. After I finished the drink, I stayed up for a whole twelve hours. I couldn't sleep until 4:00 AM! This has been my go-to boba spot since moving to Mira Mesa. I've been coming here for years because the drinks are consistent, and now it's close to home. I'm not much of a review-writer as I tend to show support to my favorite places with my wallet, but I had a negative experience today that I hope can be learned from. I'd also like to note that if this review was based purely on past experiences it would be higher than three stars. I typically order through delivery apps rather than over the phone as it's easier for me and saves the hassle of placing an order live while they're busy with in-person customers. One of the drinks on my order was a thai tea with boba, which someone contacted me about as they thought they had run out (I'll get to that later). This call came from an out of state number due to the delivery app -- my phone screens calls from unknown numbers so it didn't end up ringing on my end and went straight to voicemail. At the same time, I received an email that they were swapping my thai tea with a different drink. I didn't mind the switch really, as there was probably a good reason and my order stated "Go with merchant recommendation" if an item was unavailable. I decided to listen to the voicemail just in case. I knew immediately it was from Ding Tea based on the background noise, and I was about to delete it thinking they had left the call up by accident. I then heard an employee ask his coworker a question before saying to himself "f***, Jenna, pick up the phone, b****". He realized a second later that the call was actually going and asked his coworker to take over, then there was another 15ish seconds of background noise before the call ended. At first I wasn't sure how to respond, but ultimately I sucked up my frustration and called back just in case there was actually something they needed to ask me. The same employee who had left the not-so-nice message picked up, and when I mentioned that I had missed their call, he (somewhat nervously, imo) told me they thought they had run out of thai tea but that it was a false alarm and my order would be unchanged. I decided against confronting him because it wasn't worth it (and I'm not his manager or parent!) But I'm hoping that by writing a review the staff will be reminded to be mindful of their language even in stressful situations. Ding Tea is my favorite boba place in Southern California because of their delicious golden boba! The golden boba is perfectly chewy and slightly smaller than regular sized boba. I go here almost every week since I'm usually in Mira Mesa! My favorite drinks to order are the Oolong Milk Tea and the Hazelnut Milk Tea with golden boba. If you like a salty sweet topping, then try the sea foam! All the drink options are great here and have so much flavor. You can control how much sweetness and how much ice you want in your drink. They usually get busy around night time and the wait is 10-15 minutes max, but definitely worth it! If you are looking for a new boba spot, this is the one! I've had Ding Tea in Hong Kong and It was good, so I was pleased to know they have locations in the US. This Ding Tea is in a shopping center in Mira Mesa. It's actually inside the center along with other shops so you won't be able to visibly see it if you're driving around the shopping area. The inside is nice. Line wasn't busy but most of the tables were occupied. The walls and floor are decorated. You can use it as a backdrop to take a photo of your drink. Something new I tried was the Hokkaido coffee milk tea. Also got the brown sugar milk tea. (Bought two drinks because there is a card processing fee if you spend less than $5). The coffee was good but light. I could've asked for them to make it stronger. The brown sugar milk tea was good too. Their boba balls were interestingly a lighter color, although I expected it to be a darker color. Overall, this is another good boba milk tea spot to go to. read more

I came with my girlfriend to grab milk tea on 12/15 and it was packed. The place is part of a chain of Tea houses that are quite popular these days. The drinks: I had the large Wintermelon Milk Tea and my girlfriend got the large Oolong Milk Tea with golden boba. They have a wide variety of teas, with options for sweetness, ice level and optional boba (tapioca pearls) or jellies. Prices are reasonable, there are a lot of competitors in this area. The service: Despite being packed, drinks took less than 10 minutes from the time of order. The drinks were made as expected with half sugar and slight ice. The establishment: Ding Tea Mira Mesa is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. However, the establishment itself is quite small in comparison to the Balboa location which has a much nicer and larger atmosphere. read more

My first time here and I my selection was limited bcuz I'm lactose intolerant. I decided to get the aloe Vera kiwi juice (half sweet) and add coconut jelly for $3.50. This was amazing!!! I'm so glad I got half sweet, it was the perfect amount. It also came with aloe Vera pieces inside the drink which was nice. It was bright green and super refreshing. Definitely recommend for my lactose intolerant peeps out there! Also got the chicken nuggets for $5 and they were very crispy! They came out fresh and hot and hit the chicken nugget spot. read more

The strawberry milk tea was what I have been searching for in San Diego and hadn't found. Unfortunately I found I am not a fan of the golden boba. It wasn't nearly as chewy as regular boba. It was rough on the outside with a solid bite that had no bounce. Like heavy and flat? I'm sad because strawberry milk tea was awesome with real berry pulp, and if the boba was good I'd be all about this place. Also, it was really slow and some guy cut in front of us in line. i used to come here frequently when i lived by mira mesa and today was shocking as it seemed like the staff was not having it with any customer. He was very dry and rude and you can tell he was not happy to be at work at all. i ordered an oolong tea and not only was the tea burnt and unsweetened (which mind you they ask about the sweetness and i wasn't asked) but i payed for a large and got a small instead. Service was average at best, workers seemed tired and overworked. The Brown Sugar Boba Latte was pretty good, boba was exceptional. I wish there was more brown sugar, especially for the larger size. The boba was deliciously chewy and satisfying. About $5 for a large, I'd say the price was fair. I liked that when you say "less ice", they really mean "less ice" as my drink was super full. I decided to give this place another try. The first time we went the smell in the store was unbearable. Once we finally got our drinks (Thai milk tea and taro milk tea) was only average compared to other "tea" places I have been too. This time, I decided to order their milk tea because it's really hard to mess up milk tea. The milk tea wasn't bad but it didn't have much flavor or I felt like the mixture was a little off (could have used more milk and sweetener). Overall, I apologize for this short review but it's a drink place and their isn't a whole lot to say. If I was in Mira Mesa and really wanted a tea I might go back but I would probably prefer Tapioca Heaven. If you really want good tea I would suggest going to Clairemont to places like happy lemon and boba bar and desserts. read more

Love love love their oolong milk tea. One of my favorites in town! It's not too watered down like most oolong milk teas. Good flavor and the "less sweet" option is perfect. Not too sweet but just enough sweet. I was also pleasantly surprised how good the star jelly topping is. I think it was strawberry ? Flavor but it's a good addition to a milk tea to add the extra sweetness and chewy texture if that's what you're looking for ! read more

I stopped by here last weekend for some boba so that I could sneak it into the movie theater LOL It's always fun for me to check out new boba shops. I ordered a coffee milk tea since they didn't have Vietnamese iced coffee on their menu which I was craving. You can customize the sweetness of your drink which I like. The place is nice inside, there's plenty of tables to sit and relax. If you guys read my review of Bing Haus a couple of weeks ago then you guys know that I'm a clumsy ass haha I spilled my drink from Bing Haus when I got home. Lo and Behold, as I was getting into my car after going to Ding Tea I drop my drink. It wasn't even a high drop at all and I thought since it had a film lid I would be okay but danggit that shit cracked and spilled all over my SUV :( haha I didn't even get to try the drink yet.
