We had the big plate of chicken, the mati, and the boiled mutton, and "old shanghai" the mutton is excellent flavor, the big plate of chicken has good flavor too, though I do think Omar's has better flavor, especially since Dolan's big plate of chicken sauce does not seem to integrate with their noodle. the mati has excellent filling, and the "old shanghai" is only ok. I guess the best thing with Dolan's is that its far bigger then Omar's so you can fit a large party. I might come back some other time. read more

My first time trying Uyghur food, so my preference just very personal. Overall dishes I order are too salty. My least favorite is the beef ball soup. Since I don't eat lamb, but this soup taste lamb. It might be cause by some spice they use or the pot cook lamb before this. The beef ball very salty. Again, i will say this unique taste either you live it or hate it. But worth to try since they are not too pricey and beside you won't find this kind of food in this area. read more

Food is okay... However, we arrived at 6.30 pm. Wasn't seated until 6.50 even though half of the restaurant was empty. Didn't get ordered until 7.10. No dishes came up until 8 pm. They forgot about our drinks until we asked for it at 7.45 pm, and it took them 10 minutes to prepare two cups of water with no ice? We eventually left with only getting 2 cups of water because they totally forgot about our order, and as a pregnant woman, i was starving to death and started feeling stomachache and belly pain. The was the first time I visited this place and decided to take out. Food was ok, chicken dish was little too spicy for me... if you like spicy food it's for you. The meatball soup was on the salty side, meatballs were a little chewy. I was very disappointed with the service as both guys don't seem very friendly and did not thank me for business. I waited nearly 30 minutes for food while coming in and out and decided to ask about the food and it was sitting on a table were this guy that I showed my receipt placed on the top of the food take out and said nothing ... no thank you no apologies. we had lunch at Dolan's today. our first experience of Uyghur cuisine. we sat outside with our dogs and had a really great meal. the service was excellent. we had the Uyghur goshnaan, the laghman, the lamb kebabs, the special tea and the yogurt. Had the Big Chicken plate and am in love with it. The spice from Szechuan pepper corn was just the kick that is desired. Going to go back to try their Kababs. Excellent friendly service too. This place is AMAZING! Totally unassuming and modest but the food is flavourful and authentic. It was the first time we tried it and I can't wait to go back already. We tried the big plate chicken and ordered a small which can feed a small army (I would be scared to order a large plate unless you have at least 5+ people in your group). It was spicy and the chicken was flavourful and tender. We also had the Laghman hand pulled noodles and being a noodle junkie I would say it's in my top 3 noodle dishes ever! So flavourful and tasty! We also tried the spicy noodle but had it vegan style -- it was good but I think I would've preferred it with meat. As an Asian person who also loves dumplings we had the Manta. Word is the best Chinese food in America is in the San Gabriel Valley. I'd been really anxious to test that premise when my job took me to Alhambra. As I've mentioned before, I have to order food for the crew, making careful choices of restaurants that may satisfy the majority of people, keeping the morale up during long work days. I was somewhat familiar with the Uyghur people. As I understand, they are a small ethnic minority in China, and I was really quite surprised to find a Uyghur restaurant anywhere near me. Not being able to pass up an opportunity to try, I asked the crew if they were down, and I'm very thankful they were. One of the guys said that he didn't recognize any of the food at all, and that this didn't look like any "Chinese" food that he knew. I guess that's true. The names are certainly different, and there are ingredients like naan involved, which is a total new introduction to me as far as Chinese food is concerned. I ordered black mushrooms and celery. I added rice - not sure if that's how it's traditionally eaten, but I found it to be both savory and delicate, at the same time. It was a nice, well presented dish that simply pressed the right buttons for me. One of the more visibly interesting dishes we were served was the fried naan with beef, which everyone loved. It was a hearty, comforting dish that was extra satisfying on a cool January night. I think the consensus was that the hand pulled noodles were the best in show. They were described as having a texture that was unlike any other pasta, and they raved and raved. Bottom line, we're delighted to have tried Dolan's Uyghur Cuisine, and hope to soon find myself in Alhambra again. It's closer than mainland China, and this was a great find. read more

Our Braised lamb was succulent, and came in a rich, uniquely seasoned broth, with thinly sliced fennel & onion, and the most Amazing, hand-made flat noodles, with a texture worthy of a dish all their own. Yum! This is slow cooking done right. Clearly not scooped from a pre-cooked pot, but cooked from scratch to order. Catch up on email if you don't have a companion, but give this place a try. Be sure to enjoy Dolan's Special Tea, made from half a dozen herbs, and served in a beautiful copper tea pot! It's flavor is unlike any other you likely have had. Let it brew a bit. The flavor develops progressively through your meal. We had to stay and savor it to the end of the pot! But wait, there's more! Our Shredded Potato dish, with a nod to the Chinese cuisine moving in to the Kashgar region-in the far northwest of China-was like a potato turned to noodles. Garlic and tender sliced bell peppers mixed with a tang of vinegar and a subtle bite of roasted red peppers, for a unique take on the good ol' potato. We will return to try some of the more traditional Uighur dishes. And to see the friendly staff, who seemed to be happy to share the delicious flavors of their homeland. Try something exotic. Try something delightfully different from the middle eastern food and Chinese food scattered all about LA. And don't be in a hurry. You'll be glad you came. read more

I loved the interior decorations the style and design very authentic it felt like you were in Urumqi, Kashgar or Turpan. The noodles here are amazing. If you want fresh noodles that have a bite to them, pay a visit. I tried a couple different food options but my table agreed that Dolan's big chicken plate was our favorite. Their portion sizes are small and they could definitely add more too it. We ordered a side of noodles and I definitely recommend anyone visiting to do the same. Seating here is great. Chairs were definitely quality investments here since they actually have cushions unlike most other restaurants in the area. Waiting staff is very nice but seems understaffed. I really like the interior of the restaurant, the decor is unique. They also have a TV where they show themselves featured on Worth It. I got the vegan laghman-the portion was huge! It was really flavorful, I wish they added more wood ear mushrooms though. The star of the show was, of course, the hand pulled noodles! They were definitely fresh and sooooo chewy and delicious. The food was very flavorful and aromatic. We had the ground beef soup. Pop one of the meatballs in your mouth, chew, then, have some of the broth, and it's a flavorful blend of spices. Delicious. We had the fried naan with beef. A filling dish of perfectly seasoned beef and fried naan. The black mushrooms with celery, was fresh tasting. Then the samsa, an amazing meat pastry that was savory and flakey, severed with a bit of pickled red cabbage, when combined is so good. Lastly, the tea.
