This is a very convenient middle eastern restaurant on Olympic just west of Doheny in Beverly Hills. The premises are very clean, with very attentive staff. I had the hummus salad with beets, cucumbers, slaw which was great. I also had the chicken shawarma which was tender and delicious with sauces veges and hummus. Additionally, the merguez sausage laffa(recommended-like a burrito roll, easier to eat than a pita and less messy)was superb. Service by Mario was on point and fast. There is ample indoor & outdoor seating with a busy takeout business and Valet parking in the center lot. The value is also very good as the portions I had were large for moderate prices. This place is so incredibly good. They have the best chicken shuwarma I've ever had in LA. The first time I ordered it on a baguette which was a mistake. The bread was just Ok. Second time I tried it in a pita and it was fantastic! Their pita bread is freshly baked and you can tell from the light fluffiness. Tonight I tried their lafa which was also incredible - it's a huge portion and good for someone with a hearty appetite or to split. I definitely vote for the chicken shuwarma in a pita w humus, Israeli salad, some cabbage and loads of tehina. I also add some French fries which makes it greasy but really yummy! This is almost always my first stop coming back to LA. The food is so fresh and simply phenomenal. Fast food at its finest. Since I am pescatarian (only eat fish but no meat), I love that there are so many vegetarian options. My favourites are the cabbages, pickles, marinated cucumbers, hummus and falafel. You have to ask for the garlic sauce on the side if you like garlic -- it is a must try but super garlicky. I just had an awful experience at Dr. Sandwhich on Olympic. (I do love the one on Beverly - its like a different resturant!) A customer took his non-disposable plate out to eat in his his car. He told the manager hed bring it back when he is done. That seemed like a kashrut problem to me. I am not a rabbi. This cleaning lady was roughly sweeping the floor right wehre I was standing paying and eating. She didnt stop. She might as well been sweeping all this stuff on my feet. Then she mopped the floor with strong chemicals while we were eating. I asked her to stop and she just smiled. The manager says people complain if its dirty. He did not care about our experience. Then when I was eating, I watched this same cleaning lady with grab fries out of the serving pan in the kitchen with her filthy gloved hands and a spray bottle in the other hand. That was the last straw. We dumped our plates and the manager gave us refunds. What a sad waste. He said what was the problem, we didnt get those fries. How gross!!! Who knows what else goes on in the kitchen?! I called the RCC and the only problem might be the plate taken out of the resturant. The mashgiasch would not give me the number of the owner. I was really looking forward to trying Dr. Sandwhich for the 1st time, but I was greatly disappointed. We ordered online for delivery and our order was accepted. 30 min in after ordering we get a call saying that they don't have the steak and we need to switch to shawarma which we were okay with. Once our order gets to our home, 2 laffa sandwiches were missing and 3 of our guests didn't get food. We called the restaurant to tell them and they completely dismissed us, telling us they would call us back to give us some sort of credit, but they never did. The food that did come was missing sides and didn't include most of what we asked for. The shawarma that was given to us was very little and was full of horrible pieces of meat. I ordered delivery from here through Eat24. I ordered the chicken shwarma in laffa, but they called immediately after I placed my order and let me know that they were out of laffa. I requested a shwarma plate instead, which they said comes with pita bread. The shwarma itself wasn't that great. I felt that it needed more seasoning and needed to be cooked longer. I took a few bites and put it in the fridge. However, the next day I warmed it up on the stove with some onion powder, cayenne pepper, and fresh cracked pepper. After I let it warm up and get crispy, it actually tasted delicious. The hummus was really good, the red cabbage was okay, and the tomato cucumber salad was plain, no seasoning or dressing. Dr. Sandwich provides food that rivals that of restaurants and stands in Israel. Because the chicken shawarma lafa is so unfairly good, I haven't tried anything else there. I'm sure the rest of the items are solid too, and they offer most traditional Israeli food. As to the lafa and any plate you order, I recommend you take advantage of all the sides they'll let you put inside the lafa or on the plate free of charge. In addition to the items in the metal tins, you should ask for fried eggplant from the back. If you forget to do that, you have made a grave error. The fried eggplant enhances the flavors from the chicken shawarma and other sides and gives it the perfect amount of crunch with out being overly fried. Another pro tip is that you can ask for French fries inside of your lafa for free, but sometimes that's too much even for me. Don't forget to get tahini, hummus, and their house spicy green sauce. All are free and delicious. One other tip is to ask for your lafa cut--it's so big that few can successfully eat it in one setting and cutting it reduces the messiness. If Dr. Sandwich's prices were a few dollars lower I would give it a full five stars (not that it's exorbitant as is). Because of that it sits at four stars, but don't let that fool you, you have to go try it now if you've never been before (or even if you've been before). read more

They limit to four salads for sides, which is fine except we got tiny samples, it was a far cry from the shareable entrée we're used to get in this type of restaurant. The food is really good. We just miss the laffas. Apparently, their vendor can't support. The wraps are not nearly as good. But on the plus side, the food is very tasty, especially the beef Shawarma with everything inside. Our kid likes the schnitzel. I love Mediterranean food so I'm always looking for new places to try. Unfortunately I wish I had taken the previous reviews more seriously and stayed away. The portions are tiny, overpriced, and mediocre in quality. The cashier was inattentive and dismissive (maybe it was a bad day..idk) but as a customer that bothered me and put me on the defensive. Not a good first impression. (EDIT: So many reviews here talk about the customer service. I'm speaking directly to the management here: Stop ignoring this feedback and do whatever it takes to improve your customer experience. Thought I give this place after three years, it was still a nope and it has gotten even worse. Worst kosher food that can exist probably in all of US and maybe in the world.
