De. Sandwich is normally one of my favorite place! But one thing that upset me is that you never know what you are going to receive. I order Postmates and the portion are nice, last time I came in with my kids and when we arrived at our picnic they left out the pitot (pita). Today I started eating from this plate only to realize that it was all rice underneath and no chicken. I hesitated twice before I thought to say something. The manager was kind and gave me this extra chicken. Also the last time we got 4 sides today three and the time before we could have anything we want ... in Israel you serve the sides yourself... bottom line there is no consistency. On my quest to satisfy my frequent cravings for a good falafel, this place caught my attention based on a picture in yelp. It was a picture of a falafel sandwich in pita bread. The picture conjured up a sentimental memory of my very first falafel sandwich many decades ago on Long Island NY. Here in LA many of the falafels I eat come rolled up in a flatbread, like a wrap. Many are quite delicious and satisfying. Some are not. So yesterday I tried this place out on a hunch from this picture. You get some choices here if you want falafel on club bread, pita bread, laffa or as a platter. Then you get to choose from a pretty big selection of fillings (all kinds of salads, pickles, sauces, mashed up creamy eggplant, peppery picante things, etc.) to go in alongside the falafel. When all was said and done, I had a substantial sized sandwich to eat. Each bite yielded a different flavor sensation due to the variety of stuff in my sandwich. The phone numbers go to voicemail abs overall the experience with this place is terrible. When they first opened, the quality was good and portions were also generous, now they portion everything to the T and charge the same amount . Quick and Dirty: Came here on a weekday for lunch and it was our first time here. Apparently, word is spreading about this place and the line was busy. It was def tasty but nothing I would write home about, will be back for sure but in no rush. Nitty Gritty: As I mentioned, word about this place is apparently spreading and as we walked up to the shop, a lady in line was griping about it becoming popular and the lines getting long. The line was more slow to move than long, only had about six people waiting to order but it's the speed at which they put out orders that causes the line to back up. In any case, it moves pretty quickly and we were able to place our order within a few minutes and were served in about ten to fifteen min all in. They offer a great selection of drinks in a fridge next to the register and their menu offers a good variety of different meats and hummus. We decided to try the chicken schwarma and beef schwarma pitas and I added a single piece of their beef kabob as well. They call your number and they assemble your sandwich or plate in front of you and they offer a good selection of veggies and salsa you can choose from, including sauces. The food itself was good but not great. The chicken lacked flavor as some of the other reviews have mentioned but the beef had a little bit more going for it. The kabob was pretty herby but it was more burger type melt than a skewered kabob, it was tiny but tasted good, def more flavor than the chicken. All in all, I will probably be back here to try some of the other items and because it's a relatively healthy take on schwarma. The decor seems to have changed a bit from their opening too, but it was modern, light and bright. A good place to spend your lunch. read more
