I saw Glenn A.'s post of their coconut pudding, and it caught my interest ever since. After a big meal at Yigah, I needed to get that spicy savory flavor off my taste buds. So I decided to stop by this place to get some "no-to-sweet" goodies. Service: 4 out of 5 The lady at the counter was super nice and cheerful. She was also very chatty and we exchanged few funny remarks here and there, which I really appreciated. Food: 4 out of 5 Value: Coconut pudding, $9, a lil pricey. COCONUT PUDDING: OMG, I love these little "not-too-sweet" creations! It is so good! I got the sesame flavor. I originally wanted the mango or peach, but they ran out of it that day, so I decided on the sesame. It's creamy, yet so light. It's such a sweet indulgent, but yet, not too-sweet either. I immediately opened the jar as soon as I got done paying for it. While driving, I ate the entire container before I even got home! I just couldn't stop eating it! It was so addicting! My only complain is that, every time I've gone back, they never seem to have all the flavors, especially the Mango and Peach. CAKES: I got the Guava, Mango, and Chocolate cake slices. These were also very good! The cakes were moist and my favorite kind of sweets: "NOT-TOO-SWEET"! :)) Ambiance: 4 out of 5 Located in the same plaza as Sunright Tea, and many other popular eateries in the area. The place is small. they don't have a huge selections of goodies. they only have few pastry, bread, cake, and dessert selections. Parking was easy during weekdays, but it can be a pain especially on weekends. I went on a weekday around 2:30pm and it was a bit busy. I drove once around the plaza and found one immediately. When we visit a new area, we try to check out a new bakery and this was such a win except for the really strange experience we had inside the store. We came on 4/6 around 1pm. There was a customer ahead of us who was just about to leave and there was a lady with a clipboard walking around the inside being really rude towards the staff member. It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable to the point where I did not even see everything because I felt unwelcome and I just wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. She was pointing out all the things she was doing wrong in a very demeaning way in front of us which in my opinion is so unprofessional. The staff member just took it and said Ok I'm sorry. Ok I'll fix next time sorry. She made this lady start moving pastries around as we were browsing??? I understand if things were not up to some standard but it could have waited until the customers left the very tiny store. We had to keep switching sides because she was pointing at things and making the staff member move things as we were trying to pick out pastries. I just grabbed what I could on first glance and then just tried to get out of the way. Even when we were standing by the cash register this lady was STILL telling the staff to move things around to the point where this lady was now running with trays to move large amounts of pastries. As soon as she was done carrying this huge tray of pastries she quickly came to the cashier and was very polite and kind. Thankfully the quality of the pastries was GREAT. We enjoyed the Duke sandwich, French hotdog and the Mango QQ as soon as we left and have the Taro pastry and Blueberry pastry to try when we get home. We definitely would come back to this chain, but something needs to be done about the rude lady ordering the staff around. It really left a bad taste in my mouth and I almost said something to her because her tone and attitude was so unprofessional and degrading. I felt so bad for the staff. No one deserves to be spoken to that way. Do better. read more

Had the mango pudding. The presentation is awesome. Pudding comes in a sturdy container with a metal screw on cap and comes in a very quality plastic sealed bag. Cost of one pudding almost as much as a fast food meal. Think half the cost is for the packaging. Besides that it tastes wonderfully light and fruity. Mango is perfectly consistently ripe and plentiful. Pudding is flan consistency but very good coconut flavor with subtle sweetness. If all you have eaten are American desserts your whole life, this might not be for you. I first thought this is kind of bland, but more I ate it the more wonderful it became. Feel refreshed and don't feel like going into sugar coma. read more

Delicious breads made from grape yeast. My favorite is the Choco Blue Mt. Coffee, which is a coffee flavored bread with walnuts and chocolate chips. Their mango mochi breads are also delicious - they're dinner roll sized and have the same fluffy texture with an amazing mochi filling. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the breads here but they're also on TooGoodToGo, which is an inexpensive way to try their breads if you don't know what to choose. read more

I came here because I read that they were selling yeast. Unfortunately, they were sold out but they did offer to take my contact info so they could contact me once it was in stock. The bread looked good. I got the mango Mochi bread but I didn't see any mango in the bread, which disappointed a bit. I will be back to try other goodies. read more

The pineapple cake was great and the boba tea bar was too sweet for me but I enjoyed getting to the boba part in the popsicle. I view this place as a half step up over the 85 degree or similar Asian bakeries around town. I really do want to give this place a better score, and will be stopping by again to give it another go. Hot dog bun - I'd like to call this a staple of this type of bakery, and it really was just ok all things considered; we had gotten a couple of other items that were definitely above average. Mango Mousse - Ordered this item because I like all things mangoes. Except when we got home and opened the box, we realized we go something else (I think it was a berry tart or similar). I was craving asian bakery bread and thankfully Duke Bakery is on Uber eats to get me through this quarantine! Tuna cheese- 10/10 this is so amazing! One bite of this got me excited for my next duke bakery delivery. It's so pillowy and soft, and the flavor of the tuna is great and not too fishy. Yam bread- 8/10 this was really good too! The flavor of the yam filling wasn't too sweet but the breads pillowyness did not compare to the tuna cheese one. I also froze this and it defrosts really well. Carrie black- 8/10 super chocolately! This also defrosts really well. Uji matcha- 7/10 the outside bread is whatever, a little dry but where the bread and the filling is, is super delicious! I only planned to taste this and save it for the next meal but I ended up devouring the entire thing. After this amazing bread experience, I can't wait to try the rest of the breads on their menu! read more

Love this bakery! I tend to stick to places like 85 C or Paris Baguette, but Duke's has some delicious bread. I love how they have samples for every single bread they sell - AMAZING. Like I have when I buy a pastry or loaf and it ends up not what I'm envisioning and I'm stuck with it. At Duke's you can try the bread prior to buying (and their sample sizes are pretty hefty), which can save you that bread-buying anxiety. Not sure if I'm the only one who gets that LOL..commitment issues am I right. They have a great assortment of options but only thing that might deter me from Duke's is that their pastries are HUGE. Like a little overwhelming because of how large they are, and clearly because I have commitment issues, this isn't ideal hahahaha. Dukes bakery, I remember seeing a lot of pictures of this place when it first opened. They are a specialized bakery where they make larger sized bread, including loaves, cakes, and tarts. This is not a place that has a large variety of items, but they have some really good stuff. You can sample their bread at the window of every item that is presented. I got a variety of items, including the hotdog bread, red bean loaf, their coconut stuffed bread, and a few others. The price for what you're getting is pretty good, considering most of the baked goods are meant for more than one person. It is a small store, but it has its charms because it's small. It took me a few days to try everything out, but all of them were delicious. I will definitely be looking forward to trying more of what they will be offering. read more

I tried this bakery for the first time a few weeks ago and not a fan. I bought a variety of breads (sweet and savory) and they were all very dry and dense. I prefer fluffy and light bread and pastries so I will most likely not be back. The one good thing though, compared to other bakeries are that their items are larger in size so perfect to share with family. read more

Whenever I want to get the taro angel bread for my daughter, I think of Duke Bakery. The taro angel bread is delicious with very natural tasting taro pastes. The bread is also soft and the size is huge. The Chinese wolfberry bread that I got for my husband was amazing! My husband really enjoyed this healthy and delicious tasting bread. It had lots of gogi berries, two different kind of raisins and many pumpkin seeds. The lady that worked there was very kind and friendly. I'm from NYC and my cousin brought me here to try stuff from his favorite bakery. I have to say, Duke Bakery did NOT disappoint. Grace was amazing and provided the best customer service! Everything there was also very delicious and I really appreciate the chance to sample the options before making a purchase. Since I will be flying in a few days we decided on purchasing one bread and thus we brought home the Sesame Bread. We only bought 1 because I was scared we weren't going to finish it. Let's just say we only have half the loaf left and only 5 hours has passed. We had to use all our willpower to save the other half for breakfast! This sesame bun is so good! Stepped into Duke Bakery in Irvine just before closing time. As expected, it was slim pickings because of my late arrival. Most of the bread had already been sold. They provide samples for most of their bread products. I sampled their Taro bread and decided to buy one. Also purchased a Caramel Cheese Tart which looked very appealing in one of the display cases. The sample of the Taro bread I tried actually tasted better than the one I bought. The one I brought home was not as soft, and it lacked taro filling. The Caramel Cheese Tart tasted good, but for the pricetag of $4 for this little tart I thought it would taste extremely delicious. That was not the case. I plan to return in the future. Hopefully, I will get here much earlier. Would enjoy trying some of their top 10 items next time. read more

Such a cute little Taiwanese bakery! They legit have samples for EVERY bread which is amazing. I tried hella breads and literally every single one was so CUSHIONY and not super sweet, just like the bread in Taiwan hehehe. Their selection is decently vast and the size of the breads is bigger than most so they're consequently a bit pricier per piece. I came here on weekday afternoon and there were little to no people. Lots of selections and the bakery is very clean. It's small but feel warm here. The breads are low in sugar and oils. They aren't as heavy taste as other bakeries. I bought: chocolate cheese, Taro, and Matcha red beans. All of them are easy taste and not too sweet as I have always like from 85 degrees. However, I actually like them. For chocolate cheese and taro bread, they didn't have much over float fillings in the bread. I wish they can put a bit more on Taro bread becux it's makes the bread a bit yummier. Def will come back to try different kinds of bread. If you need some samples, prob come back later the day according to the lady in the bakery. Ave price of the bread here is $3-$4.
