5-stars are hard to come by for me, but this place definitely deserves it. The service was on-point (Thanks Andreas!), the atmosphere is welcoming and intimate, and then there's the food! You start with chips and salsa (which I thought was strange for latin, but it was very good). We had the Empanada's for an appetizer and they were full of flavor and had a little kick with the jalapeno dipping sauce. For dinner my wife and I shared the Paella Del Mar and an authentic Cuban sandwich. The paella was packed with flavor and they did not skimp on the seafood. The seafood was cooked perfectly (not overcooked which is easy to do in Paella). The Cuban sandwich was as authentic as I have had, and it tasted amazing. We finished off with the Flan and it was also done perfectly. Overall a very rare amazing experience. So this was my first time eating at this restaurant and well, I seriously beg to differ with the 5 star rating because the flavor of that chicken a la parrilla dish was just bland at best. I've eaten Cuban food many times before and this didn't even come close to having the great flavor that chicken should've had, not to mention that it was so dry. Then, while the waiter was very friendly with the few others in the restaurant, as they all seemed to be either friend's of his or regulars, he didn't even say thank you to me and just tossed my check on the table and never bothered to check on me at all, not even to refill my water. I was in Plano for work and live somewhere with a ton of Mexican food. So I did not want Mexican. I'm also a vegetarian so I wanted somewhere with good veggie options. I found this bistro and was immediately sold. They have multiple vegetarian options from tacos to enchiladas to quesadillas to a cubano to a paella. The moment I walked in I was immediately greeted by friendly staff. My entire stay he was very attentive and quick to serve me. He asked if I needed an opinion and when I said I was vegetarian he immediately suggested the paella. So I was sold. While I waited (a very short wait, mind you) for the paella, the chips and salsa came. The chips were thin. Crispy. And not at all greasy. The salsa was delicious. The waiter suggested the mango mojito and while I don't normally drink them it was so fresh and tasty. Shortly thereafter the paella came. Fresh. Piping hot. Colorful. You could tell all the veggies were fresh. It was truly a vibrant dish, both in color and flavor. The serving size for one was more than enough. Despite being hungry I could barely get close to finishing. The paella dish included yellow squash, onion, peas, broccoli, red and green bell pepper, artichoke heart. And it was outstanding. I was only sad I could not also try the queso dip, guacamole, quesadillas, cubano, and more! I wish this bistro was near me because I would come back again and again to try it all. Here two days in a row. Couldn't get enough from the first day. Had the ropa vieja the first day, the arroz con pollo the 2nd day. My wife had the Vaca Frita. Son had the chicken tacos. Everything was delicious. My son said if he could rate it 7 out of 5 stars he would. This is our go to Latin spot now, especially coming from the bay area. Don't forget to get their maduras... not soggy or oily. The tostones with the sauce makes for a great starter. For desserts, we've had the flan and the churros a la mode here.. I believe they make it fresh here since it came out very warm and crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. Lastly, the owners are super chill here and great service. We will be back! Went here on a late weekend lunch, got seated right away. Love the complimentary chips and salsa, they keep the chips warm and got us a warm one once ours got cold. I'm cuban and I sell Craft Cuban sandwiches here in Dallas and this place had the best authentic Cuban sandwich (roast pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, mustard on Cuban Bread) in Dallas The Cuban bread was so thin and crisp. This is truly a hidden gym if our kiddo wasn't taking swimming at aquatots few doors down we would never have found the place. The food is amazing! Here! It's located in a small suburban shopping center, that Texas has no shorter of. Upon walking in it's a lot smaller than expected, just a couple of tables lining up one side of the restaurant and a fairly open kitchen on the other. Service was extremely fast and polite.
