My girlfriend and I came here for the first time, in July for an Anniversary dinner. We made reservations for a Saturday evening, and after arriving waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated we had a nice table in the back area where it was a lot quieter. It was on the side of E&R that you can enter via the hotel. He looked over the menu for a bit and eventually ordered as follows: Drinks: Pig and a Lady Tequila Mule Appetizers: Burrata & bread w/ fruit chutney Pork bell burnt ends Main Course: Porterhouse and kettle chips Green beans Mac & Cheese Dessert: Turtle Ice cream (complimentary) Most of the food was delicious; especially the Pork belly burnt ends and the Burrata w-fruit chutney. But their were issues with our Porterhouse being undercooked and overcooked. Because of its size, it was noted by our waitress that it had to be cut up, in order to be cooked properly. And while I requested it be cooked to a Medium temp, it had varying degrees of cook from Medium-Rare in some areas to Medium-Well in others. Very little of the steak was actually medium, and it made it a little annoying to end up going back and forth from cuts that were soft and too squishy, to firm and somewhat tough. So the Porterhouse with was the main portion of our dinner that we both shared, was disappointing. It kinda defeated the purpose of cutting up the steak to ensure it was cooked properly, which we already thought was odd because we've had Porterhouse's of equal size. At other restaurants which were cooked to perfection, and it was only cut away from the bone. Overall: Great service and very attentive. Food was good minus the issue under/overcook issue with the steak. Appetizers, drinks and our dessert was delicious. And much appreciated for the complimentary dessert for our anniversary...very nice touch. Might give E&R another try, but most likely not the Porterhouse. read more

My favorite restaurant in DoCo! This restaurant offers very comfortable seating, amazing service, and delicious food. My mom and I came here for lunch to catch up with each other, and they were so helpful in choosing what to eat. Our server had plenty of knowledge about the source of their ingredients, and offered great suggestions that fit our palate. The meats used in both of our sandwiches were very good, and the cuts were generous. We caught up for almost 3 hours, and they were very considerate not to disrupt our conversation. We will definitely be back for dinner. It does help that the cocktail was strong and we very much appreciated that. read more

Today was, hands down, the worst dining experience I've ever had. I'm not sure if the chef was out or what was going on, but the quality was shockingly bad. * We sent back a Ribeye that was so thin and tough it felt like something you'd get for $8.99 at Sizzler. * The oysters looked shriveled and unappetizing -- also sent back. * The octopus dish came with such a tiny portion that even our server rolled her eyes. * Then came the "steak salad," which was basically a giant pile of lettuce with three tiny pieces of steak tossed on side . Come for Brunch! My friends and I have an annual ladies Christmas brunch and someone suggested Echo and Rig. I have eaten dinner here many times and love it. Was curious to see if they can do brunch. And guess what? they smashed it! The food like in Dinner service is amazing and service was top notch. We were a large party of 12. The manager Mathew was outstanding and the wait team we had was fabulous we did not want for anything food and beverage wise. We didn't have a reservation...we just stopped to have a drink and small plates. We ordered Wild mushroom soup, kale salad, and a steak sandwich. The cocktails were delicious but the food was okay. The food seemed to lack flavor. Our server was nice but he forgot to bring our drink due to his lengthy disappearances. Mistakes happen... Echo and Rig is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. What I crave the most are the mushroom fries. I went last Sunday for my wife's birthday dinner. It was an impromptu celebration and I happened to see an open reservation on Open Table. We like to share a steak so we can order more sides. We got the oysters, mushroom fries, crab cake, mac and cheese, bib salad, and shared a steak. Oysters were solid. The mushroom fries were always a hit with their meaty fungi flavor. The crab cake was good and full of crab meat. The mac and cheese was rich and cheesy. We got a rib rye and it was cooked a nice medium. The steak seems to have gotten smaller since the last time I was here, but it's inflation. Mark, the busser, was very attentive, always kept our table clean and water refilled. Came during lunch time on a weekend. Pretty empty. They have a brunch time menu which does not feature a lot of meat so I cant say much about the steakhouse part of this place. Steak Frites (eye of ribeye) 2/5 tiny ribeye and it was slightly overcooked for a medium. Steakhouse Scramble 2/5 Definitely thought there would be more steak and more sausage. This was disappointing too. Butcher Burger blend 4/5 Honestly this burger was the best thing we ate. Kinda regret not getting all burgers. If i were to come back, I would try dinner time. I wanted to go back the next night for this meal again... but I had to leave Sac... anyway... this place is a must... the only thing, service was great but slow... it was a Monday night so not too worried about it... This is a favorite steak place for us. The restaurant is a la carte so pricing can be a bit high. I suggest you talk with your server on how many appetizers to get. We got too much food tonight. It feels like like we need to diet for days. The sourdough bread was excellent. The server strongly suggested we get the fried signature portobello mushrooms. Wow! These were fantastic. He helped us get the right number of side dishes. The steaks are largely from small natural grass fed farms. If you want the fat in prime steaks then this is probably not the place for you. That said, the chef know how to cook the steaks over a red oak wood fired grill so you probably won't miss the fatty prime steaks. Echo and Rig also has steaks that aren't on the menu that are charged by the ounce e.g. tomahawk and porterhouse. Pre Covid, they would bring a plate of raw steaks around for customers to see the size and cut. Covid changed this process but you can still ask what they have and negotiate size. Our porterhouse came with a bunch of sides to flavor the steak. My wife and I used different ones. The chef nicely chopped the porterhouse off the bone into pieces. We got too much but what a wonderful flavor. Ambiance is modern but nicely done. Servers and back staff are all helpful. I am glad this place isn't in our neighborhood to tempt us to visit more often. We recommend you give them a try especially for a relaxing special dinner. read more

Came here back in March for my birthday dinner with friends and enjoyed our time. I loved the BYOB (within reason) that allowed us to bring a nice $100 bottle of Bordeaux wine to keep our bills within reason. We still ordered another good bottle to go with the appetizers and the manager was kind enough to decant the red for us. The food was overall pretty good. Three of us got the Ribeye cap and my wife got the filet. All the steaks were cooked to perfection. We also got a solid selection of salads and sides. My only complaint on the food was the insistence to have the homemade chips on the plate. It just doesn't work with the degree of cooking and the price point here. Another problem with the place is the volume. It's an industrial-style concrete interior that really bounces sounds around. My wife couldn't hear the waiter at all when he was asking questions with our order so I ended up doing the ordering for her. I would really like to come back here sometime and sit at the bar to get a good feel for the place though. Overall it was solid, and we'll be back at some point. read more

We came for our anniversary and were disappointed from the moment we walked in. We had a reservation and even though there was alot of open tables they still made us wait before seating us. When they finally sat us they tried to give us a table for 2 in the back, tucked away behind a wall. We refused the table and were moved to a table in the middle of the restaurant. There was a nice open booth and they would not seat us there. Then after a while we ordered. I ordered a Ribeye which is basically $60 for just the steak and it was probably 1/2" thick and mediocre at best. Honestly could have got the same steak at Applebees. After a handful of other things we weren't happy about we finally got the check and left. Most likely won't be back. Not with the amount of good steakhouses in the area. Came for lunch. Service was great and food was great. We had calamari which came with two different causes. My dad liked the red sauce, my son liked the green, so both were good. I liked the green more but red was good too. I got the Bibb salad with chicken, which was good, should have asked for the dressing on the side. We also got the Filet Mignon which was very good. This place is so good. I went here on a date with a very wonderful gentleman. The service is amazing. We couldn't decide what we wanted as a side. We ended up settling on the brussel sprouts but they gave us the cabbage and pistachio salad with the candied walnuts to try as well and it was amazing. Everything was amazing. I had the chicken with the potato noche. The chicken was crispy and buttery and flavorful. He had the steak and spinach and I had a glass of wine. The service is amazing here. We walked in for lunch, and right from the start, the experience was unbelievable. The hostess walked us to our table, dropped a menu on the floor, then picked it up and threw it onto the table like it was nothing. When I asked for a clean one, she actually questioned why I needed a new menu -- seriously? No apology, no basic courtesy, nothing. I was so stunned by how rude and dismissive she was that I had to ask for the manager. He was respectful and apologized, but the damage was already done -- the entire mood was ruined. I honestly didn't even want to stay, but since we had friends joining us, I just tried to get through it. I'm still fuming. We visited tonight for our anniversary dinner, and everything was phenomenal, from the staff to the food. The staff was smiling the whole time, making recommendations and suggestions; very attentive and fun. We had the pork belly and portabella fries, both fantastic. The garlic herb aioli they serve with the portabella fries was to die for. Steaks were fantastic (ribeye), cooked perfectly, and our waiter, Justin, even brought us a complimentary dessert (which was fricken amazing) with a candle to celebrate our anniversary. Upscale, classy steakhouse located inside the Sawyer hotel. You can park in the parking garage at Doco and get it validated. I would recommend making a reservation, we came on a Sunday around 7 pm and they said they were full until 10 pm so we ended up sitting at the bar. My friend ordered the filet, which comes with a side of chips and said it was tender. I ordered the lamb chops, which were a little over cooked. They didn't have much flavor. I would probably go for the steak next time. The oysters served with the mignonette sauce were meh. They were really quite petite. read more

Everything was amazing! We also had this amazing dessert and for the life of me I can't remember the name but know the toppings were home made and perfect in every way. We came to this spot to celebrate a birthday, overall the food was very delicious, the meats were cooked well and to our liking perfectly as well as was seasoned and tasted great, the Mac and cheese was good ~ always a classic. The oysters were fabulous, we ordered 2 rounds so a dozen total. The bone marrow however was disappointing unfortunately, I personally loveee bone marrow but give myself the luxury of getting it rarely, it tasted amazing , but it only had two miniature (this is an understatement) bites , you get maybe 10% bone marrow, 50% carne asada, and 40% tostinis, just wasn't worth the price in my opinion I'd rather have more bone marrow than steak. The service was a bit slow but not horrible. It's attached to the kimpton hotel which is very nice if you're staying there. The seating was comfortable and we were able to get a booth as we requested. The sorbet was good and an appreciated free birthday dessert.
