I think this should be the local go-to place for AM eats. The omelettes are fresh in ingredients and creativity, the coffee is hot and served in large mugs, the hot sauce is plentiful, and I think even if you read the menu through, 1 to 101, that it would still surprise you the next time you came back. I've had a number of classics with jack cheese, bacon, avocado, tomato, the like, and the omelette fillings would be better described as "chunks of" rather than "diced," which is a plus for me. I also had some omelette that was on a Food Network show with papaya, blueberry pie filling, cream cheese and such, with egg whites, and it was interesting, but not really a repeat order. But this last time through, I had a chili relleno omelette. Yes, you read that correctly, a battered, fried green pepper filled with cheese wrapped in scrambled egg. BOOM! That and a nice cup of coffee on a cool, sunny winter SoCal morning with a good friend is A-OK in my book! read more

First time here and I was really impressed. They have 101 omelette selections as well as other dishes. I went with the Pesto Egg Scramble. It had 4 eggs + chicken + spinach + pesto + tomato + feta cheese = one incredible breakfast. The prices where right in line with IHOP I went to a day earlier, but IHOP doesn't even compare in taste or quality. The Egg Plantation has been around since 1973 and I'm sure it will be around forever. I recommend that you come here early as the word has gotten out - and they get slam. read more

Protein for breakfast is a must for me (I'm not really into pancakes, danishes, french toast, or other sugary carb-rich breakfast dishes)... so I absolutely love the 101 omelet options! The mocha is yummy too!! They serve it with a biscotti that's also delish!! Oh, and I'm a stickler for good breakfast potatoes (I'm always complaining about restaurants that are too lazy to cook fresh potatoes [i.e., IHOP, for example, serves frozen hash browns]). Coming back from the Dentist I was near the Egg Plantation and decided to have breakfast. As most Santa Clarita residents know, the restaurant has been here for 40 years. This Old Town Newhall business first opened its doors in the 1970's. Then owner, Maurine Anderson, introduced the Egg Plant's original 101 omelet menu. In 1985 the business was taken over by Bettie Travis and Margerie Riberdy, who changed the name to The Egg Plantation and made it renowned as a breakfast locale. The restaurant was purchased in 2000 by Simon and Shannon Mee, owners of the gastropub known as the Newhall Refinery. Currently, the menu still has the 101 original variety of omelets. I first started coming to the restaurant in the late 1980's when Bette and Margerie owned this establishment. It was a cozy and folksy restaurant with lots of pottery and kitsch on the walls of chicken and hens. Currently, it is nearly devoid of its old charm. This morning we had to wait approximately 5 minutes in the cold 44 degree temperatures outside of the until the hostess allowed us to come into the restaurant. The free coffee outside made the wait almost bearable. The menu can be viewed at eggplantation.com The oversized omelets are a bit pricey. You can save a dollar by ordering a petite omelet. I ordered the Spanish Omelet and shared it with my wife (she who must be obeyed). While there is charge to share/split a meal, the waitress did not add this to the bill. My omelet was very bland with little of sauce inside the omelet. The hash-brown potatoes were slightly burnt on top. Is it better than IHOP. Yes. Is it as good as it used to be...definitely not. That being said, if you like variety, and omelets, this is the place to be. Lastly, the restaurant is supposed to be haunted. This is my recurring breakfast spot! There is something so comforting about having my eggs over medium done the right way each and every time! Nothing worse than runny whites! The new gourmet bacon is a nice thick cut, salty and delicious! I love the complimentary crepe before you begin and I can't rave enough over their coffee. Also, I've been coming here since our son was first born. He is 8 now. I like that it's a home away from home. The friendly staff remember who you are and they are engaging and helpful. Excellent service. Great food! The portions are HUGE and it's good enough to share between two people. The decor is very nice too: homey and dainty. I was here with a party of 12 and I LOVED how they were able to split the bill into 10 checks. Most restaurants usually hate it/complain when customers ask for it, but Egg Plantation... They asked us first if we needed it! Bonus points! Will definitely be going back again. OH, and I really appreciate how there's complimentary hot coffee and water outside of the door for those that are waiting. My actual rating (if possible) would be 4.5 leaning toward 5 stars. Truth is, I really like this restaurant, the ambiance, location, menu etc. in fact just about everything is (almost) spot on - there are however a couple things that imo could be improved upon and if we rate too high those things would never be addressed so here goes...(1) pancakes, french toast etc. would be 100% improved simply by topping them with a dollop of whipped butter - rather than foil packets of chilled butter that never fully melt (2) light eaters omelet selection (3) gluten free biscuits & gravy (4) A dedicated WOMEN'S restroom Hopefully this is taken as it is intended which is "constructive" criticism, since I really do enjoy this restaurant! read more

Came here for brunch with a few friends, since they have gluten-free bread and my friends are allergic to gluten. I had the chicken-fried steak, which is okay, but nothing spectacular. The large omelette menu is cool, but the omelettes often lack an adequate amount of cheese. We ordered their vanilla lattes, and those were really good. Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. You can definitely taste the quality and freshness of their eggs. Didn't think fresh, cage-free eggs would make that big of a difference but I was wrong. Had a 30 minute wait but didn't mind because the street is lined with cute little shops including an affordable antiques store and a delicious coffee shop called Honu Coffee. Been coming here for years and can't believe I never wrote a review! I was coming before any of the expansion work happened. This place is top notch. From customer service to food service to food quality variety and taste or flavor to drinks to ambience etc. They just get it. Even as they've grown, everything has remained just as great. They just need to open another one because the SCV has grown a lot faster than they have and the wait can be really long. There aren't many great breakfast places like this out here, I'm sure they'd still have long lines! Parking is easy too, street or lot, you have lots of options. I know this is a go to place for lots of SCV folks....We've been there several times and this visit was disappointing. Our party of 7 was seated promptly outside with reservation but the whole meal was ruined by the constant barrage of flies. Two of our meals went back to the kitchen for proper cooking. Egg Plantation was a very popular destination the Friday that my friend and I decided to meet for breakfast. It is super cute, so it's obvious why people flock there for their morning bite. Parking in the lot behind it was impossible unless you had a motorcycle or a Mini. I found a spot on the street...I cant remember if it was a metered spot or not. I put my name down and we got a table for two inside after about a ten minute wait. The omelet menu is extensive and has something for everyone. I strayed away from my breakfast staple of eggs benedict to try Randall's omelet. As if 101 Omelets and other egg options aren't enough, the employees have a list of their favorite concoctions, also. It's very overwhelming. The spicy bloody mary that I had helped make my decision easier. After the bloody mary I tried the mimosa. Not something I'd get again there. It was just "eh." My Randall's omelet came with chorizo but I subbed in turkey sausage. They are very flexible at accommodating personalized orders there. I wish they had a spicy turkey sausage, because that would be awesome! I also enjoyed the fact that they had all varieties of hot sauce on the table and a homemade one they make themselves. Granted, I was there on Sunday morning around 10am, so we expected it to be busy. Just not really worth waiting that long. The food itself was pretty decent. I can see why people line up for this place! One, it's convenient for those making the trek across the Grapevine back home. Two, it's got a lot of seating. A ton. Three, the portions are great and the prices are decent. The Boy ordered the Randall and I ordered #39 (?) (the one with sausage, bacon, cheese and something else...). Both came out within 20ish minutes or so. I was starting to get antsy, but when I looked at the clock, I realized we hadn't been there too long and considering how many people they were serving, I didn't hold it against them. The food was delicious and tasty and I ate most of it. The potatoes were great and I loved the wheat toast. The cinnamon raisin was a little crunchier than I'd like though. We arrived around 11am on Monday (Labor Day) and had been given an estimated wait time of 45 minutes. I inquired about bar seating and she informed me it was first come, first serve. Luckily for us, there were two chairs waiting for us by the bar! Granted, one was a weird seat directly behind the coffee maker, but I didn't care. They moved the basket of coffee grounds for us and allowed us to sit. Whee! All in all, great breakfast to end a great trip. read more

Was in Valencia for the weekend and based upon Yelp reviews, decided to visit Sunday morning (around 9 am). We saw a huge crowd of people waiting outside as we searched for street parking (no private lot), which almost turned us off. We persevered and were told we'd be seated in about 30-40 minutes, which was accurate. The place was jammed packed. It was slightly uncomfortable having troves of people walk by our table. I ordered the Bloody Mary and my date ordered the Cafe Mocha. The Bloody Mary was ok-salty and spicy, but I prefer peppery opposed to jalapeños. The Cafe Mocha was delicious. It was accompanied by biscotti which was delicious! I ordered the Greek Omelet with o'brien potatoes. The omelet was ok. I'm a omelet connoisseur (I eat one every day), so my standards are high. The flavor was lacking, partly due to small portions of feta and olives. The o'brien potatoes lacked flavor-perhaps add salt and pepper, a splash of paprika and garlic. My girlfriend ordered the peanut butter French toast, which is a marvelous idea! However, without jelly or something to help the peanut butter slide down our throat, each bite was hard to swallow. Dunking each bite into maple syrup helped, but this dish can be improved. Perhaps add jelly? Service was great-very nice group of people here. I'd come back again, we got good value for the price. I'm pretty unimpressed with breakfast joints. I don't know if it was because I was so hungry but everything we got was so delicious! I got the crunchy french toast with over easy egg and sausage and whipped cream. Yum! The french toast was cooked to perfection and was indeed crunchy. I'm a bit iffy about FT because a lot I tried are soggy or too eggy. However, this one hit the spot. My sister got the Greek omelet with potatoes. The potatoes were pretty good. My friend got a omelet with sausage, bacon, cheese, mushroom. I don't really care much for omelets but it was delicious. Their bottomless coffee was strong but not too strong. As a self-proclaimed omelet fiend, I was both hopeful and skeptical about the Egg Plantation. Having practically grown up in the SCV, it was really bizarre that I had never been here before. I ordered the sausage, mushroom, jack cheese, and avocado omelet with hash browns and sourdough. The plate was huge and I hardly finished half. The egg part of the omelet was really nice and fluffy - no complaints there. The sausage was pretty sketchy; it was boiled, very watery, and somewhat milky. It didn't taste terrible; it just didn't look appetizing. I added enough hot sauces to kind of mask the flavor so it turned out fine. I would definitely like to go back and try a bunch of other omelets (minus the sketchy sausage) and find a favorite. :) read more

More omelet choices than you can break an egg at. You'll be floored with the interesting and traditional ongoing list of combinations. I ordered the Greek Omelet and split the plate with my boyfriend. He wanted hashbrowns, I wanted the country potatoes, and we both wanted different slices of bread. I wasn't too happy about the splitting charge either. But oh, well, what can you do? We wanted to split so we thought we had to compromise? Or did we? I've never encountered a place that charged to split the plate and actually rewarded you for it. Because they gave us each our own separate choices for potatoes and bread (which came in a huge stack for each of us). It was as if we just ordered our own plate because even a split was huge, but much more economical than actually buying two separate orders. I was really taken with the place.
