Best Place to get breakfast in the SCV. Breakfast time can be a long wait any day of the week but that speaks volumes to the food. On our way to Yosemite this morning, we stopped at Egg Plantation for breakfast, trusting that the rating average was a reliable indicator of food quality. The place seemed pretty busy for a Friday morning, so we felt sure the food would be good. Well, my "petite" #73 omelet was a disappointment--heavy on the (mushy) avocado and light on the jack cheese, not to mention having no discernible seasoning. My husband said his omelet (can't remember the number) had "slimy" pulled pork and lacked flavor. We requested fruit in place of the potatoes, and the waiter said it was fresh, when I asked. Apparently, he meant "not from a can," because our fruit appeared to have been cut up no later than yesterday. Based on our one visit, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

This was one of those, "it's always so busy that we have to try it," kind of deals. Despite having arrived at the rush of breakfast hour we were seated rather reasonably. The place was packed but that did not take away from our service. As the main course a veggie omelette filled with a variety of fresh veggies and cheese. They do a really good job of serving groups of different sizes, but this place is absolutely perfect for the one-on-one "breakfast meeting" interaction. We like this place very much. The wait times are usually more than 35 minutes on the weekends so call and get your name on the list before you head over. I had their peanut butter French toast and it was only mediocre. But two weeks ago I had their bagels, lox and cream cheese plate and it was perfect. It's ok. I only come here for the eggs Benny, coffee, chicken fried steak or stuffed French toast. I don't like the fact that they do not scramble their ingredients into the egg when cooking an omelet. I wAs very disappointed both times I've ordered an omelet. Once the eggs tasted funny. So I brought my mom here for breakfast after only having come here once before. This was not an ordinary breakfast because I had just finished a very strict weight loss program and I wanted to celebrate without taking it too far. I ordered the Blueberry Muffin French Toast (which is not on the menu) and I am so glad I did. It was sweet enough, but not too sweet. It also had a great texture that was not dry at all (unlike what some reviews claim). I also ordered a vanilla latte, but it was a little too sweet with the french toast. My mom ordered the Plantation Benedict (which she also loved) with hash browns. The only comment I would have about this entire experience is that the hash browns needed more salt/seasoning, but that's not at all a bad thing because some people (like me) don't like salt, while others (like my mom) love it. I gave it five stars because the food is delicious and we always get good and friendly service. I always have the classic Benedict with a white chocolate mocha. My husband gets the filet Benedict and my daughter gets the Nutella crepe. I come with my husband, two year old daughter, and seven month old son. My daughter is given crayons, a coloring page, and some silly sticks she can mold any way she wants. We come every chance we get. read more

When I go it's usually for brunch with a girlfriend to catch up or 10+ people for family gatherings, and their staff is always on point no matter how many or difficult an order!
