I was pumped to have this place near by, but now I won't come back! I walked in and the host was a little out is sorts. He sat me at a dirty table and as I started to clean it off myself he just walked away ‍! We were sat in the bar area where the bartender was our server. He was very nice but also very overwhelmed! His hands were covered in what looked like berries while handing us our drinks (which means washing hands was not going down!) that took over 20mins to get ( coffee for my friend and water and cranberry juice for me) so it wasn't a complicated drink order. We finally placed orders for the crepes, 20-25 more minutes pass and he comes back and says sorry no crepes and hands us back the menus ( hands still covered in berries) The menu is a very large which is cool, but do a limited menu like most restaurants are in these wild times or at least know what you have and don't have to offer is and option too! Once we got our order my food did not come out as requested it was missing and items, he never came back to A) ask was everything ok. B) could I get you more water or coffee. When he did come back our food was eaten and we asked for the check. And we didn't complain we just wanted to leave and get the breakfast dessert that we had planned to get from here but were sure that It wouldn't be what we asked for or they wouldn't have it ‍ so we went around the corner to Le Crepes! I had the avocado eggs Benedict and it was amazing, their hollandaise sauce was delicious. My wife had the lobster omelette she said it was very tasty but the lobster was a little over cooked. - I was seated at a table that was clearly dirty, but I had to ask for the table to be cleaned/wiped down. - Ordered the 'Eggsuberant' meal and almost upchucked after biting into my pancakes and pulling out a LONG HAIR!!! I called a nearby wait staff over and asked him to call the manager. When she walked over (with her ponytail swinging in the air) and I showed her the hair I pulled from the food (and my mouth) she apologized, said she'd "take care of it" took my plate and asked me if I wanted a bagel (?) or something else to eat....???? AS IF I obviously told her "No" and she never returned to the table. So this place is an ABSOLUTE NO for me. Who knows WHAT'S GOING ON in their kitchen?!?! Tried this restaurant for lunch with my family and was wry dissatisfied. It took over 30 minutes to get a burger, a sandwich and a salad. The burger and sandwich were covered in pepper and inedible. I was looking forward to enjoying brunch with a friend, upon arrival we were greeted and seated warmly by the staff...when it came time to place our food order we noticed something odd about the waitress hands- we didn't feel comfortable with her touching our food and asked the manager to have a food runner bring out our plates. We ended up getting a new waitress who was kind, but kept being glared at by the former one. The former waitress then took it upon herself to come over and explain that she has a skin condition which causes her to pick at her hand even until it bleeds...we thought it was just hair dye or henna but for her to tell us the truth was very off putting and flat out disgusting- she wasn't even wearing gloves. The food was very good. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I ever had and the fire cracker shrimp were on point. My grandson got the pizza, I am sorry but I almost fought him for a bite lol, sooo good. We received large portions, no complaint there. Prices were good. Now for the service!!! Every one was very nice and inviting, really felt like a long time customer. Now for waitress, this is where it changed. She was incredible, she made our experience amazing. She made us feel like old friends, she was excellent in every category , just a blessing to be around. My family enjoyed their meal. I ordered the menu item listed below. It was missing strawberries and blackberries. It also was missing the dressing. I had to request dressing that should have been applied prior to coming to the table. So I received cold dressing which was okay. But the salad came to the table without any dressing. They get 3 stars for lack of leadership by management! I was on work travel in Richmond, Va. friends mentioned this place for brunch. I ordered a Caesar salad with shaved or Shredded Parm cheese atop. The server was very nice and she was also a new server. She wasn't sure how the cheese was, so she asked the manager. I was shocked when the manager didn't know which variety/prep of cheese they served! The server came back so I asked for a little cup of the cheese so that we would all know which cheese prep they served in their salads. The manager would not allow her to get or show us the cheese. I told her I didn't want a serving , only a sample to view. The manager lady refused to offer us a small amount to view. We finally found out that it was "grated" cheese powder atop the salad,based on the 6 grains the server was allowed to show us. Disappointed, we declined ordering food. Next we order a cocktail, which arrives as something else. I went to the bar and bartender woman said that our server had ordered wrong drink. So, I simply asked if we could have our drinks in a tall glass, (Because I wanted more juice not liquor!) The bartender looked me in the face and said "It's the same amount of liquor Hunny"... I said ok but a taller glass please! She said I need to wash some and continued to hand me our drinks in the small glass. I asked server for a small amount of pineapple juice, as to not speak to the bartender again. Overall, Not a good dining experience!! Outside of the nice/new server it was all a waste of going there! Despite the emptiness when we arrived we had to wait to be seated, the hostess went to the back after looking kinda annoyed/upset, and we're looking around at empty tables like "soooo is there nowhere to seat us?"... a waiter came out and greeted us, made a little small talk, and it came out that the issue was he didn't want another table and they were trying to figure out which waiter would be stuck with us (basically). The waitress we got was nice enough, not overly engaged at all. The energy from basically everyone working was "why do we have to be here "... the good thing was the food was pretty good. You really have to go here with price not being an issue, because pretty much if you get more than one thing you're going to be on the wrong side or 30. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. They did not skimp out of the lobster which I was impressed with. I also got an order of bbq wings, which were really good as well, perfectly cooked. Also a strawberry mimosa... which was okay. My sister ordered the crab flatbread, which I didn't like at all, but she did. I would come again or probably prefer to just order take out; Since the food was the best part, and I could do without the atmosphere. I was also a little annoyed that they automatically add 20% gratuity to the checks... I was confused because there were only 3 of us... but apparently it's standard practice for them. A true 5 star experience for brunch today! It's a spacious restaurant with a nice layout. The patio is a little small but wasn't crowded. The hostess and server were both very friendly, helpful, and attentive; we also saw two people who were maybe managers come by and check on how things were going. The menu is extensive and full of variety. I loved my breakfast tacos which were overflowing with goodness -- beautiful presentation of three tacos filled with eggs, chorizo, avocado, pico de gallo, and more. They were served with a well portioned side of fresh fruit. I would love to come back to try the Chesapeake crepe and lobster omelet, as well as their steak frites and any of their burgers. My friend ordered a burger to go and it was timed perfectly with our departure. She had the chicken and waffles and loved them -- another huge serving that she was only able to eat half of! The chicken was crispy and juicy on top of the fluffy and slightly sweet waffle. Their juice bar selections also look enticing. They have a happy hour that will be on my rotation as well with some $6 apps and $5 sangria offerings. So happy to have had a chance to get here and will definitely be back. read more
