The decor inside and general vibe was super cute! It was white and blue themed all over and I loved that but I can't say the same for the churros and strawberry shake. When we were ordering, we asked the cashier if she would recommend the milkshakes and if they were more milky than thick. She said yes and that they were not too milky. We decided to order the #2 which came with 4 churros and a shake and then 4 extra churros. It seemed like it was very busy because the line was out the door so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the quality. Went here a couple of days after grand opening so I could wait less in line. Waited at most 20 minutes. Not bad. From outside, restaurant looks clean and minimalistic. Very nice. Staff doesnt greet you though, I get it they are busy obviously, a "have a good one" goes a long way though. Ordered the 1) combo . Honestly, I understand why they have the rating they have right now. Churros are mid, I'm sure I can find a local vendor who sells them for cheaper and more flavorful. Hot chocolate español was great, just how described. The torta was honestly a disappointment. No flavor. Again, I can find a better torta from the street vendors across the street. I had really high expectations for this churrería. I've been to the original in Mexico City several times since my youth & other locations also. I absolutely love the original & the others are good too. Also have been to the one in Costa Mesa in Northgate market. But sorry to say I was disappointed with this one. I didn't like the moritos. I felt they lacked flavor & the texture was a bit hard. I was completely disappointed with the Mexican hot chocolate. It tasted like the milk was scalded. In other words it tasted burnt. I should have complained & returned it but I just threw it away. The only thing I liked were the original churros but they are over priced. In my opinion, not worth the trip. The churros from a truck I buy from are better & more reasonably priced. This churrería was a big disappointment for me. So the 2 stars is only for the original churros, nothing else. read more

Super cute little café -- definitely a great spot for a coffee date or a short meeting. It gives strong 1935 vibes for sure. The churros and the dips are all delicious! 10 out of 10! I wasn't a fan of the café de la olla -- I might have just gotten a bad batch. The torta was also a bit dry. I would suggest grilling the bread with a little mayonnaise, olive oil, or something similar to add more juiciness. The meat was chopped very fine, so a larger piece of steak might help the sandwich feel more substantial. One thing I would love to see as well is stronger coffee. I feel like if the coffee matched the quality of the churros, it would be exceptional. I'm only sharing these suggestions because I really think this place has so much potential, especially with such a great location. Just my personal opinion -- wishing them lots of success! read more

This place is a joke, I came 10 minutes before they were supposed to close and it was already closed. I'm not sure why they have posted hours until 11:00pm if they don't adhere to their hours. Came by Super Bowl Sunday after the game for a desert but left disappointed. Churros weee okay but drinks were bad. El Frances tasted like it was made with bad milk, horchata latte was a cup of horchata with a shot of espresso it. Cafe de olla was OKAY but have def had better. Customer service was abysmal, long line but only 1 person taking orders with 6 workers in the back and 2 standing not doing anything. A half decent churro saved this review from being 1 start. We went to El Moro in the morning on a Sunday, possibly around 10:30 am. We didn't really struggle to find parking in their parking lot. I will say though that it is a small parking lot. From a first glance, the design and appeal from the outside was very nice, bright, and welcoming. The line wasn't bad, fairly short and moved quite quickly. The time that it took for us to receive the items was also very fast. We got the combo that comes with two churros, a torta, and an agua fresca. The churros were crunchy and crispy. The only note was I wish they would've been warmer. The horchata agua fresca was so delicious! It had a nice consistency and a sweet taste! They also have a really cute tote bag so that was an added plus! read more

The churros were absolutely delicious- crispy on the outside, warm and chewy on the inside, and very fresh. The churrero (man making the churros) was so kind as well! It was great to watch the churros being made. We came in the morning, so we also got a soy latte and a cafe de olla- both were solid. We tried the dark chocolate dipping sauce for the churros and it was also yummy (though I generally prefer my churros in the nude). Maybe I went at a good time but there was only 2 people ahead of me on a Thursday morning. Every employee was so nice and friendly, even apologizing for the wait when there really wasn't one. The churro was as fresh, crunchy, sweet and airy as the ones I've had at their MDX locations. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the Mexican hot chocolate because it was chunky, but it's a personal preference, not a critique on the flavors. The churros are mid. Too skinny would be better if they were thick and had less sugar on them. The champurrado was disgusting it was way too thick, like paste and had a funny taste. The Oaxquena was okay maybe its because it was non dairy, but it was thin and kinda sour. read more

Finally tried out this spot, and was let down. Ordered churros, hot chocolate and champurado. Churros weren't traditional. They are supposed to be fluffy and not hard. They also charged me for the champurado and didn't tell me they were out until after I paid. They offered to give me fresas con crema and I was more than fine with replacing it with that until I saw what it was and tasted it... strawberry milk that tasted like nesquik. DEFINITELY not traditional. Also for it being a place with a ton of sweets the space was just dirty and I saw only one member cleaning. Maybe have trays to prevent the mess? Chocolate was good but getting it hot would probably be better. Took about 5-10 min for my order to come out. Churros were hot and crispy on the outside and almost gooey on the inside. The cinnamon sugar on the outside was a little much but not overly sweet. Some of the best churros I've had. Next best might be Don Churro in Anaheim. read more

Came over here as I was super excited to finally try it out after avoiding the long line for months. I ordered the consuelo with an additional chocolate sauce and patiently waited given how busy it was (Saturday night while the Dodgers were playing in town). I'm usually a patient person, and they were calling out peoples orders by their name fairly loudly. About after 25 minutes, I still hadn't heard my name while everyone who ordered after me was receiving their order pretty quick. I go over to check the counter, and there my order was just sitting there. Mind you, the consuelo comes with an icecream scoop so by then the icecream was melted already and it made the churro soggy. I asked the girl right there announcing names if it was mine, and she gave me attitude that she had to check. Then, I was walking away and they didn't even bother giving me my chocolate sauce that I paid two extra dollars for. When I asked the workers, they didn't even seem remorseful about it. Rude, expensive, and bad service overall. Consuelo was whatever, nothing you can't make at home yourself. Save yourself the 30 minute line and bad experience and don't go here. You're better off going down the street and getting churros from the local vendors, not this wannabe restaurant that replaced the Patras initially there before. Gentrification is a b*tch! read more

I took my dad to El Moro thus Saturday and it brought him memories of his childhood when he would go to El Moro in Mexico and how we went there when I was a teenager. Waited a long time for El Moro to open. First they said September 2025, but it didn't actually open until this week. Waited in line for 40 minutes. Got our first drink called right away. The manager gave it to me. I told him I had two more. He flippantly said, "I know." Fine. I understood and waited. Then 15 minutes later, no drink so I asked one of the food servers for the status of my drinks. She said they weren't even on the screen! I had to show her my receipt to prove it. I wasn't the only one. There was another person after me with the same problem. I would have been ok with it but for the attitude of the manager.
