I met with a friend here and it was the best. The food was fantastic, the restaurant was beautiful. I sat out front but I want to go back and sit in the back patio that they have. It's such a cool vibe. The owner came out to greet my friend and I and we had such a lovely conversation. He says they have a lot of regulars who come back and that it's become a good community. Walked into this place thinking it was cute and close to my lifestyle. Ordered Chana masala and plain naan bread. We ate all of the first naan bread, ordered another one. They brought out a buttered one. Once we told them, a few minutes later they come back out with a naan bread that smells of butter, just didn't have the same glazed texture on the top. Argued and said it wasn't the same one, but I'm very aware of what products I don't eat smell like. Then after asking for the check, they come to the table with a chai tea. After saying that I did not order the chai tea, he comes back with a check that shows that order of naan that was wrong and the chai that I did not order. This was the worst service I've had at a restaurant in at least a decade. It took 30 minutes to get water and we had to ask for it at the bar. We were ignored by the server when we tried to get service. The people next to us left because the server never came by. The server was unapologetic and dismissive. They did not clear our finished items and were slow bringing everything. Forget about getting a water refill. Eventually we cancelled the rice that never came and the server still tried to charge us for it and still got the bill wrong after we pointed out the mistake. The food was good, if blander than we remember. We spoke to the manager at the end of the meal and he was very apologetic and took responsibility. But we won't be coming back. read more

Perfect combination and I had enough food to take home for dinner. My friend ordered the tikka combination which have different meats on a sizzling platter. It smelled soooo delicious and my friend said it was good. All the meat were seasoned well and was tasty. It didn't come with anything else so they ordered a side of basmati rice. On days when i want a low carb lunch, I am ordering that with cucumber salad. (Tip for people who are on a lunch break: they take their time in making their food for you so expect a wait. Just wanted to add that perspective for people who only have an hour lunch.) SO happy to see that Electric Karma made it through the last two years. I visited this restaurant yesterday with my family seeing very good reviews in google. To my disappointment, all 5 stars reviews seem fake. It starts from the very beginning we entered the premises. None guided us to be seated there. We sit ourselves in a corner. Two server boys did not greet nor took us to the table. Once we are in the seat, we did not receive menu nor glass of water for long time. I had to ask water myself. To my surprise, a man asked instead "how many"? Of course we need the same number of glass of water as the number of guests.If the restaurant was too busy, it would be conditioned. But just two tables were occupied with guests. We ordered foods, and a cup of tea. The waiter brought a cup of tea but tea was cold. When I told him to make tea hot, the person shrunk his face with unwillingness. Finally food arrived. The taste was flat. Chat was pretty good though. Butter Nan arrived with burnt. I told the waitress the nan is burnt. His answer was as such as if we do not know how butter Nan looks like and how it should be. His answer "it is like this" made us more disappointed. He behaved us as if we are new to this kind of food. We have visited thousands of Nepali Indian restaurants. Butter Nan should be soft ,but it arrived hard and burnt. Also, believe it or not but this was my first time ever eating Indian food in a proper restaurant (in the past, I've only ever gotten takeout or been served home-cooked dishes). I guess when we went, they were barely opening up since no one was there and they started playing music as soon as we sat down. The restaurant was well decorated and looked authentic, but the food itself, I felt, didn't live up to its potential. The samosas were okay. The mint chutney that went with it was the best part. The garlic naan had barely a whisper of garlic so if you want extra naan, order the original and save yourself a dollar. The curry for 1/ for fun was good for the price. Prices are pretty congruent with the area -- usually spend $30-45 for two people, depending on if we want an appetizer or a drink. If you're hungry and order drinks, probably more like $75-100, which isn't crazy for Beverly Grove. Ok this review is long over due but when I say I bring everyone I know to Electric Karma I mean it. Have started coming here since 2021 and the quality has not changed at all. My favorite dish on their menu is the Malai Kofta and it is always a crowd pleaser. While I didn't get it this time one of their speciality drinks is the Punjabi mango which is a must if you go. Prices are very reasonable. The service is always really great, both the servers and the owner Lucky go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is excellent. Lastly the ambiance inside is so beautiful and picture worthy , works great for a date night or large group dinner with floor seating in the back. Me and my friend went to have a good New Year dinner at Electric Karma today. We had a disappointing experience. First of all, the service took more than 25-30 to arrive. The food was very average. We ordered, 1. Sev Puri- 7/10. It was decent. 2. Aloo parantha- 3/10. There was barely any aloo (potato) in it and did not find even a small piece of onion in it which it is supposed to have. 3. Cheese naan- 8/10. It was good. One can hardly go wrong in this dish. 4. Butter Chicken- 5/10. It was a bit weird. Living in the City of Angels does have its perks of being surrounded by a Mecca for Great Food. I am so beyond thankful to have found Electric Karma because it is truly amazing. Before we jump into the meat and potatoes. Let's address the parking. Mainly street parking is available. But please beware of the highly confusing LA street signs to avoid a ticket. I would say the best time to come is during the week between 6 &7 p.m. it's right in that sweet spot because several businesses are closed for the day and it's a little after evening rush hour. Now back to our regular programming.............. I tried the Karma for 2 Four Seasons which included: Chicken tikka masala, saag Paneer, chicken tikka BBQ. Includes samosas, rice, naan, raita, and rice pudding. Such a great special if you are a newbie to Indian Cuisine or cannot make up your mind on what to order. In addition, I ordered Butter Chicken (fabulous) and Veggie Korma. Everything was fresh and tastes wonderful. Also, I love that Electric Karma has vegetarian options. So there is something for everyone to enjoy. The ambiance was traditional and full of life. The service was excellent because the servers were so kind especially when they were limited in staff and were managing take out and dine-in orders. The only thing I would say that is expensive are the drinks. A mango lassi is $5.50 each and soda was about $4.00 with refills. However, price increases in food and beverages are everywhere.
