I come here regularly and I'm NEVER disappointed when I come here. The drink mixers are always on point with the flavors and the boba! If you're not too much of a sweet-tooth you can always opt for more ice and/or less sweetness. Even if it's busy, the wait for your drink is definitely going to be worth it. I know there have been a lot of Dingtea locations that have opened up, but this original location still remains the best IMO. The shop is a little smaller and it is ALWAYS extremely busy/packed. I don't think there has ever been a time that I've been here where the line is not out the door! Surprisingly though there is plenty of parking in the plaza. There seems to be a lot of phone in orders here so it gets backed up for the people that come in to place an order. I docked a star because it takes them a really long time to make your drinks. Every time I come I usually just get 1 or 2 drinks and the wait for my order is usually 15 minutes and up (depending on how busy it is). They have the five stars reward program here where you enter your phone number for each visit to collect points. The garden grove location just uses a stamp card. For the most part, the workers are young, but I can see they try to work fast to get everyone's orders out. My go to is usually the taro milk tea or the wintermelon green tea unsweetened with half ice. Depending on my mood I'll get the crystal or golden boba. The crystal boba costs more to add (golden boba is extra 50 cents). One thing I like about this location is CONSISTENCY. Each time I've been here the drinks taste the same and quality doesn't change. It's nice that Dingtea allows you to adjust the sweetness and ice in your drink, but I noticed their other locations won't do unsweetened wintermelon green tea for some reason. I like it here 'cause there is no questions asked, they just make your drink how you want it! The boba is always perfect in terms of taste and texture with the slight soft chew. The wintermelon green tea unsweetened is one of my favorites here because it has a slight sweetness from the boba and wintermelon, but the bitterness of the green tea overpowers it a bit so it's refreshing. I spotted this place as I was leaving the plaza and the moment I saw it was a Taiwanese tea joint, my willpower weakened and my mouth watered for some divine jasmine milk tea, dreaming of Ten Ren. They offer fresh tea, flavored tea, fruit juice, yakult, latte, milk tea, coddee, and hot tea with choice of the usual toppings. You can choose from the sugar and ice level. Perfect. Two sizes: regular or large. One large Jasmine milk tea please, half sugar, half ice! Coming right up! I checked into yelp and got my drink in two mins. The drink is ok for the price. I've gotten better flavor from a certain drink chain that has a $1.50 menu. Tea seemed rather watered down. No distinct taste of tea. But it was indeed half sugar and half ice as I requested. I didn't see them prepare it but it is possible that they had hot/warm tea and added ice to it, stirred it and it mistakenly diluted the tea? An average tea shop that's very similar to all the other tea shops in this area. Their milk tea prices and add-one are a little higher than the other shops. Tried the signature milk tea with "coffee" jelly, Hokkaido black milk tea with grass jelly, and lychee yogurt with seaweed boba. The signature milk tea was good and tasted like how a good milk tea should taste. The coffee jelly (additional $0.50) was disappointing because there was no coffee flavor and instead of the nice brown color, it was almost transparent. Consistency was nice and chewy, similar to a coco-de-nato jelly cube. The Hokkaido black milk tea was sweet with a bitter aftertaste. I enjoyed it but wouldn't order it next time. It was ok but nothing special. The grass jelly in it was good! Chewy and not too sweet. Lychee yogurt was ok if you like lychee flavored drinks. It came in a Solid cup just for looks. OMG it only takes them like 30 mins to make ONE drink. Sometime I would crave milk tea but the thought of waiting just for one order deters me to go somewhere else. I think it was the first Ding Tea in GG (?) but you can find them in any 5 mile radius (GG/Brookhurst; Ball/Gilbert; Harbor/Chapman, etc...) My friend always goes to this one but I'm indifferent. We were kinda crazy about Ding Tea's Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea with golden boba so we did a double blind taste test (I know...). Both were fine and equally good. We see a different cup style but the quantity is the same too (lol). I prefer the GG/Brookhurst location since it has better parking (ugh why are the spots so NARROW and stupid people don't know how to park btwn the lines) but Bolsa works if you're in the area. The reason for 3 stars? The stupid line. They recently renovated (yay?) but the counter is to the right, right when you enter. So instead of having the stanchions (those rope barrier things that people use to form lines), everyone just clusters so who knows who is in line next. This place is more of a 3.5 than a 3. I'm always excited to try new boba places, and in this area it's like there's a new one every month. We ordered the passion fruit green tea, half sugar with boba and the green tea latte with boba. The passion fruit green tea was good..., it was fragrant and not too sweet with good passion fruit flavor. I really like the tea they use The latte was only okay. When we usually order tea latte it's with a bit of heavy cream ...this one was mostly milk. What I really hated was the boba. They use the small boba... Like tea station boba. Was recommended to this place by a friend who told me about their milk teas. I'm a big fan of taiwanese style milk teas and have been trying to find a place that'd fulfill my craving (and I wouldn't have to drive outside of Orange County for it). Ding tea is located in the Bolsa Mini Mall plaza in a small shop that has a few tables inside. It could easily be looked over if you werent actively looking for it. One of my go-to places for milk tea! I've pretty much always ordered the Signature Milk Tea every time I've gone here and I could say that this is the drink I'd mainly stick to. I always get it with golden boba! Upon ordering your drink, you can choose your sweetness level as well as the amount of ice you'd like. They take a while to make your drink sometimes but it's not that big of a deal for me. They have a 5stars rewards program as well which is nice. Good amount of tables to sit at if you want to stay around. Decoration is nice and isn't anything too overboard, which highlights the simplicity of the store. My group got the jasmine green milk tea, toffee oolong milk tea, strawberry milk tea, and matcha milk tea. I had only tried the jasmine and the toffee and they were both pretty good just missing the boba. The other people is our group ordered theirs with "crystal" boba and they all said it was not good. I have only been here once and to be honest, I don't remember this place much. What I meant is that this place is only mediocre and doesn't stand out much. The reviews are very hyped and the place does get pretty crowded. The location has horrible parking and the store itself is very small. It is not a great place to hang out here since it is very crammed. The drinks do come out slow due to high demands. I just wish they have more room for people to stand and wait for the drinks. The waiting area is the same area as the ordering area. I was expecting the tea to be really strong since this boba shop is more Chinese than Vietnamese. Since it has more of a Chinese vibe, I had to compare this shop to the ones out in San Gabriel Valley. Comparing to SGV, this place is just bleh. I had tried their Jasmine Milk Tea, Almond Milk Tea, and Hoikaido Oolong tea, all with bobas. The bobas are good. Chewy, warm, and delicious. The milk teas are good and not overly sweeten like most places. The aroma is great, but the taste was a little disappointing. They added a lot of ice and my drink was watered down and the teas were not strong at all. I do appreciate them using real tea versus powder though. Other than that, my drink was over within 5 minutes. It wasnt even long enough for me to enjoy the tea. I should come back and give it another try, but I really don't want to wait for 30 minutes trying to find parking, waiting in line, and waiting to get the drink. We came here upon my cousin's recommendation. She's quite opinionated when it comes to food & drinks but has good taste so we trusted her judgment. To start, this place is part of a plaza where parking can be rough. My cousin said this is a popular chain where the line often goes out the door. Umm yeah because the place is tiny inside. I believe maximum capacity was below 30. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long and were even able to snag a table, even if just for briefly. She did mention that the Alhambra location is better, just a friendly FYI. A surprise star for how relatively cheap the drinks were! I always take into consideration the price and size of cup, and amount of boba. Flavor is of course a factor too. Has never failed me love their "golden boba" as it is always perfectly chewy and soft. I've gotten every member of my family to jump on the band wagon and more than ecstatic to see that a closer location (garden Grove) has opened near my house. Their teas are legit Taiwanese, much like the ones you get at the authentic Taiwanese cafes in 626. The simple ones are better. I often hear that the Hokkaido and others are a little on the sweeter side. I would say their prices are super competitive and on the lower end of the average boba tea prices around the area. $3.55/sm & $4.05/lg. The service here is just OK and the wait tends to be a little longer after you put in your order since they have a different system when it comes to brewing your tea. If you prefer a more authentic herbal tea taste, you'll definitely enjoy their drinks here. My go to would have to be their jasmine milk green tea and I personally find that their drinks taste best when served hot. Really had high hopes for this place. I'm a tea kind of gal so I was expecting this place to be bomb because of all the high reviews and ratings. The store is located inside the Bolsa plaza mall. It is small and it was really crowded with only two people working. I decided to get the honey milk tea with egg pudding. They BARLEY gave me any egg pudding which made me a little irritated because it was almost $4 for a small size. They serve "golden boba" but it literally just tasted like any kind of honey boba at a regular boba shop. My milk tea was sweetened just right but it was just the portioning that threw me off. The golden boba isn't chewy, and it gets harder after a while. I ordered to pick up a few times, they always made my orders really fast and packed them carefully. Review: Mostly for the service. I've been going to this place for a very long time now because of their great drinks and usually friendly service from the staff. However, one night, I stopped by for a boba trip and the girl who took my order did not care at all whatsoever about giving me back the correct change. She missed $1.60 worth of change and I didn't care for the money, but she had the look that she was clearly tired of being there and just wanted to go home. I usually do not check my receipt because I usually pay with card, but this time I paid with cash and I couldn't believe the carelessness of this certain worker. I brought it to the attention of another staff who was working there and he apologized to me. I saw that he was informing her of her mistake yet she didn't seem to care or to bother whether or not she made the mistake. This is a bummer for a place with such good boba. It's usually my to-go but I am reluctant to go again since this incident. :( read more
