The chicken was filled with too many onions and was a bit salty. I can handle a good onion flavor, but it seemed as if there were more onion chunks and salt than actual chicken in the sausage. The sourdough cinnamon roll was solid, not exceptional. The dough itself was delicious, however, I prefer my cinnamon rolls to be sweet and the cream cheese icing just wasn't great. That said, the prices are extremely high, even by Westside standards. For example, cookies being around $9 is pretty hard to justify. Service is usually good, but I did recently have a disappointing experience with a newer barista. I ordered an espresso and asked for it to be extra hot, but it came out room temperature. When I politely asked for it to be remade, the barista refused to remake the drink, which was surprising and unprofessional. To their credit, I spoke with the manager afterward, and she was extremely kind and professional and personally remade the drink herself. That level of care from management was appreciated. I've never had a bad experience here before, the food has always been great, and the staff has always made us feel welcomed and taken care of. This last visit was unfortunately very different. We came in with a fairly large party, and we completely understood that accommodating a group our size is a lot of work. When we got in line, the employee asked how many people were in our party, which made sense. However, we were then told that we could not all pay separately. This was confusing because payment is taken before you even sit down, so it's not like we were trying to split a bill afterward. Rather than make a fuss, we combined everyone's orders onto one card, totaling around $400. The food and drinks came out fairly quickly, which we appreciated. The reason I felt compelled to write this review, though, was because of how rude one particular employee was during the experience. She was wearing patriotic cat ears and appeared to be one of the baristas. One of my friends ordered a latte with alternative milk, but it seems the order may have been entered incorrectly. I've worked in the coffee industry myself, so I understand mistakes happen all the time, and remaking a drink is usually not a huge issue. Instead of handling it kindly, the employee responded with, "That's how it was put in, the request time has passed, that's our policy," in an incredibly dismissive and rude tone. We were honestly stunned. My friend, visibly uncomfortable, just quietly said "Okay," and the employee walked away. Nothing was offered to make the situation right. This happened after we had already spent hundreds of dollars and tipped before even being served. I'm not someone who enjoys complaining or writing negative reviews, but the interaction completely changed the experience for our entire group. What's most disappointing is that the refusal itself wasn't even the main issue, it was the attitude and apparent enjoyment in being dismissive over a very small and understandable mistake. I ended up getting the apple turnover and it was delicious- so tart and flaky and not overly sweet- perfection. I also tried their black matcha which is not hojicha, but more of a milk tea. Man i really wanted to like this place after hearing all the reviews on it. But we came on a Friday afternoon around 12pm and all their pastries were all sold out. The only thing that was leftover were the sourdough croissants and banana bread. I asked the cashier if it is normally sold out around this time but she said no not usually so I guess its a hit or miss. We decided to still try the croissant, banana bread latte, chicken pesto sandwich, and chicken pot pie. The sourdough croissant was cold and didnt taste fresh...probably because its been out the whole morning already and they didnt heat it back up before serving it. The iced banana bread latte was very bland and tasted watered down, not much banana bread flavor nor coffee flavor. Tasted more like milk and water. There was maybe 3 ice cubes inside and melted within 10 min of getting served the drink. The chicken pesto sandwich was alright. It came with a side of arugula salad but it was very bitter. The sandwich itself was very light in flavor but the melted cheese and warm chicken was good. The chicken pot pie wasnt that great....the flaky crust was pretty burnt and the chicken filling was really bland. I could taste the heavy rosemary flavor but that was pretty much it. They cut their celery, carrots and chicken into pretty big pieces so that was ok...just wished it tasted better and not just rosemary. The croissant, latte, chicken pie and chicken sandwich cost around $65. They have very limited parking in the front and the back. We made the rookie mistake of coming on a Sunday at 12:45 ish pm- there was hardly anything left but we snagged what we could which was the sea salt brownie, coffee cake, apple turnover. We thought our selection was very delicious. The brownie was incredibly rich, you could taste the dark cacao beans. The apple turnover was flakey and filled with chunks of apple. Coffee cake was moist and fluffy. If this was just the remains I can only imagine how good the selection is and tastes before 10:30 am which is the time the server said we should be there. We promise to be back because what we really wanted to try was the cinnamon rolls and fresh cookies. The interior is simple but bright & open, while the outdoor seating is especially pretty with trees that provide plenty of shade from the sun. The cashier was helpful in answering our questions about certain menu items. I ordered the french omelette with chicken sausage patties, & my friend got the creamed spinach along with a gibraltar. They also had smoothies available in the fridge section, as well as delicious-looking pastries displayed by the register. We both really enjoyed our food, & I appreciate that they use very clean ingredients with no seed oils or refined sugars. We ended up staying for a couple of hours after eating & I was able to get some work done, even with the social atmosphere. We both ordered food and drinks and everything hit. I got a latte special it was some kind of cinnamon dulce latte and it was phenomenal I drank the entire thing before the food even came out. For food I ordered the classic breakfast and it was done so well. The bacon was thick but somehow perfectly crispy which is hard to pull off and that alone impressed me. The sourdough slices paired perfectly with the eggs and the eggs were cooked beautifully not runny not dry just the perfect scrambled texture which is harder than people think. The potatoes really shocked me though they were cut in this accordion style and cooked in a way that gave them an amazing crunch while still being soft and airy inside definitely a standout. The bacon was probably my favorite part overall it was just perfect. My wife ordered the tomato bisque with the arugula salad and rye bread and she loved it. You could tell the soup was homemade with great seasoning oregano and a little basil and it paired really well with the bread. Overall we were both extremely impressed with the quality and execution. I love a cinnamon roll and decided to stop by and get one. Looking for parking was difficult but in the end found a spot. I was able to go inside and noticed there are tables in the middle. I was greeted as I entered. I got in line. They had a menu. Everything looked good. I was able to place my order quickly and get my cinnamon roll. It was delicious. I love a soft cinnamon roll.
