Eller bakery caught my attention based on how aesthetic the whole bakery is. I loved the open concept and seeing the baked goods being made fresh! They had an abundance of desserts to savory baked items that all looked appetizing, it honestly took my friend and I a good minute to decide on what to try. Service was friendly and willing to help as we looked confused on what to order! Most of the goods have some sort of sourdough incorporated into it. I tried the sourdough croissant which was flakey, buttery and had notes of sourdough onto it. I also tried the sourdough cookie which was not too sweet but had a slightly different texture than your ordinary cookie. We both decided to get lattes, and was told they actually have their own special oat milk. I personally was not really a fan of the latte, as the oat milk flavor was strong and made the coffee not as strong. I do not believe they offer wifi, so this place would be more for a hangout spot! There is more parking in the back, however I can see finding parking would be difficult if the place is busy. read more

Such a cool bakery and coffee shop. On one side they have the bakery and the other side is the barista station. Very clean, tidy and very spacious shop. They also have an outdoor patio that's nice and shaded with greenery all over! I ordered a latte and a couple sourdough croissants. I love this place!!! The interior design is clean, simple, and elegant. The service was exceptional! The croissant is unlike any I've tried. The sourdough flavor is truly unique without sacrificing exterior crunch and soft center. The banana latte is wonderful. Very natural flavor and not too sweet. We also tried the traditional baguette. I have seen Eller bakery on Instagram and was super excited to try it! We were underwhelmed. The concept is great all fresh ingredients and no refined sugars... great... but also we felt robbed. This place is EXPENSIVE! You see all the baked goods and just loose control, we ended up spending $100! The iced coffees came out in thin glass cups that looked like was 4oz of coffee, the breakfasts burrito in the crepe was good but not great. The icing on the cinnamon roll is super cream cheesey and there is no sweetness, the almond croissant was good and banana bread was good. This was not worth the money we spent, we could have gone to plums cafe and ordered 4 mains for what we paid here. Great concept and I am sure doing it right is pricey and with the interior and outside the price to build must have been steep. But for the price it is not worth it for me! So I have seen so many videos and reviews on this place and everyone raving about it, and decided to try it out on a rainy day. We went on a Saturday morning, so it was definitely on the busier side, but it was our first time there and we were looking for a table. When my husband went to grab a table an older gentleman said "are you wanting to eat here? " and we said that we would like to dine in and he proceeded to say "there is a line for a table" and pointed to it so we went over to the line for the tables. We didn't feel welcomed, staff wasn't initially friendly or warm. But we waited in the line anyways. The sad part was the gentleman saw us in the line waiting for a table, but never told us that there was a separate line from that to order the food first. We had to see other regulars go in the other line to order food and then go into the line to wait for a table. Personally, I feel like if you can tell that it is a customer's first time, you would want to explain kind of how their system works since they don't have any clear signs that you need to wait in line for a table or order your food first. But we still waited in the line for food because we were already there and wanted to try one of the pastries. We ordered a sourdough chocolate cinnamon roll and a chocolate croissant. Both the pastries looked very good, but they were just decent. I didn't really find anything special with either and with the service we probably won't be coming back. I happened to stop in today after seeing an instagram reel. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with scrambled eggs. The breakfast was a 3.5/5, my scrambled eggs were kind of runny, but the rest of the food was great. I ordered several baked goods to go. The apple turnover and brownie were pretty good. The carrot cake was a 4/5, it was good, but missing something. The cinnamon roll was also a 3.5/5. The service was great, we were asked if we had any questions about the menu and all questions were answered. Our food came out pretty fast. I came to Eller Bakery after seeing it all over TikTok. I really wanted to try their famous sourdough cinnamon rolls! The first time I came around 11am on a Sunday. They were already sold out, so I came back earlier the next time around 8-9am and was able to grab a bunch of goodies. I tried the sourdough cinnamon rolls, plain and chocolate croissants, coffee cake, banana bread, carrot cake, turkey & Swiss croissant, a loaf of bread (forgot the name!), a sourdough chocolate chip cookie, and the iced banana bread latte. The cinnamon roll was a bit drier than I expected. I like the Cinnabon-style ones. Overall, everything else was good. My favorite was definitely the chocolate chip cookie! My wife and I stopped by Eller Bakery this morning for breakfast. After placing and paying for our order, my wife decided to add a piece of carrot cake to go. It was brought to our table in a timely manner, which we appreciated. However, when we got home and checked the receipt, we noticed that we were charged $30.17 for two carrot cakes (at $14 each, plus tax). We had only ordered one slice. While the carrot cake was tasty according to my wife, paying $14 for a single slice already feels a bit steep, but being charged for two when we only received one left us feeling taken advantage of. I understand the bakery was busy, and mistakes happen, but for a place that prides itself on quality, the pricing and overcharge left a bad impression. It's disappointing because we were otherwise enjoying our visit. Hopefully this was just an honest oversight, but it definitely makes me second-guess coming back. I would give 0 stars if I could. I stopped by today around 10a.m. I ordered 1 latte and carrot cake and paid 24 dollars without a tip! Who charges 16 dollars for a carrot cake bread??? Also, ordered 2 lattes for my friends to go and asked if I could get it to go in a carrier because I had a baby with me so my hands were full to carry all of that. Took them 17 minutes to make those 2 lattes just to have them not packed to go. Barista went to get the carrier after I had to ask again and seemed very annoyed by my request. So I visited Eller Bakery several months ago and got the sourdough cinnamon roll and a chocolate croissant. I personally love sourdough in all forms but I did not like the cinnamon roll. I know I know, that's the whole purpose, but I personally did not enjoy the sour in a sweet pastry. Now, I recently went again and had the croissant sandwich and shared the French toast and those to me were much tastier. I couldn't tell the croissant was even sourdough tbh. The French toast was very large, and full of fruit. I also had the banana bread latte and that was super good. Monday mid-morning break, with a dire sweet tooth, brought me to look for a cinnamon bun. Venturing into Eller was a breeze until we pulled into the tiny parkade that offered a measly 6 stalls with some parking in the back that's surprisingly shared with more hidden businesses. Not to mention, the additional parking spaces in the back is valet only. We're near Newport alright. Now, with my husband on one end and a baby in the other, we walked in and were not acknowledged at all. So we walked towards the bakery counter where 2 employees who oozed annoyance that they'd have to stop their conversation. Service seems unbothered and pretentious. Aside from that, the sourdough cinnamon roll was delicious. The sourdough was chewy and denser in consistency vs. your usual dough. The gallop of cream cheese was just the sweetness level I enjoy. My husband enjoyed his ham and cheese croissant as well! The breakfast menu did catch my eye with their benedicts looking scrumptious. Did the service rub me the wrong way? I've been a regular here at Eller since opening and I've always loved coming in for their coffee, pastries and bread. I haven't been to Eller in the last couple months until this Morning. I've been told that there's new ownership and changes with ingredients (which doesn't bother me) yet everything tastes and looks terrible now. Croissants have huge gaping holes, there's a jalapeño cream cheese croissant and it's just a croissant with a block of cold cream cheese in it..., mushy carrot cake that's barely fully baked, the only pastry that I really enjoyed was the yuzu blood orange danish. Also the food for breakfast and brunch it's really disappointing... since opening they have had the same exact menu with no new menu items, no creativity and just outright bland it so desperately needs a change. The absolute ONLY reason why I gave this review 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the sourdough country loaves... WOW, I would say it's the best bread in OC and the only reason that I'd come back. So if you're looking for a quality sourdough loaf definitely come in for that.... My husband and I have gone to Eller for breakfast so many times. They are organic and have excellent choices for breakfast. Many pastries. Specialty drinks. they ground their own coffee and sell it by the bag which we bought. Excellent! The bread is made with their flour that they ground on equipment shown in the place. The bakery is on the premises and you can see bakers creating special pastries. The pastries aren't too sweet at tall and so flavorful. I don't suggest dinner. Not a meal you'd be used to. We both had the pasta and it was unlike any pasta we ever had in not a good way. I'm Italian New Yorker who had been to Italy and I can honestly say this homemade pasta was California pasta. Me no like. For breakfast we highly recommend you try it at least once. But I guarantee you'll be back many times there after! read more

The girl who took our order was nowhere to be found - she took our order off of the line, we didn't get to the counter. Coffee cake was ok. The croissant was gross. It was dense and chewy with lumpy chocolate. 2/18 went to Wilson to get coffee. In all of my stupidity, I wanted to give this place (and the croissant) another try. Made sure it's the regular croissant this time. $6.75 mistake. It was slightly flakier than the chocolate one, but still so dense and chewy. I guess I just don't understand what the hype is about this place. The airy, bright interior does not compensate for the overpriced and mediocre products. I loved how simple the menu was. Many options to choose from traditional breakfast to sandwiches, and grab and go pastries. Depending on the weather it might be better to eat outside vs inside. There isn't AC while eating indoors. The omelette was French style, super fluffy and cooked to perfection. I also ended up ordering an ice latte with milk substitute. Service was super fast and the waiter will take your order and run your card before food comes out. Definitely want to come back and try other food options. Cinnamon bun- I can see the vision but the execution was lacking. Moist bun but had a slightly sour taste. The cream cheese frosting was too strong and didn't provide a good contrast to the sour bun since that was sour too. It would've maybe worked with a vanilla frosting instead.
