Ezelle's is always a treat. I've always gone to the Wallingford location where the food is always fresh. Unfortunately, this place was far from fresh. The food is pre-made and just sits under a warmer. If they ran out of the specific type of meat you order, they will not make fresh ones but substitute with a random one that is already sitting in the warmer. The fries were soggy and not edible. The mac and cheese had a weird sweetness to it; almost like cake batter mixed in. I had never tasted anything like that before - this is not the norm, after ordering this many times at other locations. I'm not sure if it's previously frozen but It felt like there was the "freezer" taste as well- it was just overall wrong. read more

We love the food and staff is always helpful. The problem was that 2-lb. spicy tenders combo was left off our order. I called in and was told that my name and number would be entered into a book and I could come in anytime to pick up the missing order. We picked up the 1lb. spicy chicken strip combo with potato salad (creamy kind) and baked beans. Everything was delicious! The breading was perfectly crispy and not greasy, and the meat was sufficiently moist for breast meat. Service was gracious and efficient. So happy to have an Ezell's in the neighborhood! read more

Maybe the fact that I went an hour before closing had to do with it even though they were still pretty busy.... The driest crappiest 2 pieces of chicken breast I've ever had. Pretty Inedible. I can't believe I'm saying this but I should've gone to KFC. When I saw that this location was opening up I was so excited but wow that was terrible. I just got home after picking up my order from Ezell's. I ordered one pound of chicken gizzards and one pound of chicken livers. When I tried some of the order at home I found they had given me two orders of chicken livers. One container was labeled chicken livers and one was labeled chicken gizzards so the order was passed from the counter to the kitchen correctly. This is the second time I've had Ezell's screw up this kind of order. Apparently Ezell's employees cannot tell the difference between a chicken liver and a chicken gizzard (hopefully they know the other parts of the chicken better). I could return to the store and get a replacement order but it's rush hour and I don't want to spend half an hour to drive there, wait for them to prepare the order, and then spend another half hour driving home. Who knows how long I'd have to wait for them to get the order right. I might have to wait a while they make multiple attempts to actually prepare chicken gizzards. They might come out with chicken wings or breasts or all rolls or some other mystery food. I don't trust them to get any order right after this. On top of that, the rolls in my order were not baked sufficiently. The consistency of the rolls was doughy. I would suggest that you check any takeout order before leaving their business. I should know better by now and do this all of the time but sometimes I'm in hurry to get home, relax, and eat something. This isn't something they did wrong but "spicy" at Ezell's is not very spicy, at least not to me, but I'm used to eating spicy food. If you're used to eating spicy food and want your chicken truly spicy, you should forget finding it at Ezell's. Two stars because the livers were OK. read more

Made my weekly visit to this location Friday night. They weren't overly busy, and all but one of the employees were in the cook area talking, and one on there phone. I observed them taking chicken tenders out of the holding tray, and snacking on them. Then I observed the young man that was there reach in with his bare unwashed hand, and break off the end of a strip and start eating it! Come on guys, you can do better. On another note. The steam from the chicken created so much moisture that it softened the normally crunchy breading, and made the rolls inedible! Please speak to your employees regarding hygiene, and cross contamination! read more

Chicken 10/10 Sides 10/10 Customer service (specifically management) 5/10 I ordered and paid for my meal online. When it was picked up by my brother in-law, he was charged again. No big deal these things happen. I called to get one card refunded and wasn't happy with the response from the GM. Initially, he said that he needed to "send it to corporate for investigation." I told him this want necessary, to please look at the online order with my card charged and then find the POS charge on my brother in-laws card, if both have a paid transaction, to refund one of them. He said this makes sense and would send a text by the end of the day with proof of the refund. Well this didn't happen. I waited 3 days to see if I would just be refunded and it never happened. I called back and the GM didn't want to talk to me so his assistant helped me. I provided him with the information to find both charges and he refunded one. Pretty simple and not sure why it required so much effort to get a refund for a double charge. All in all, food was great and everything was sorted out, but not the best experience. read more

I'm leaving a one star to affect the average rating because i know what good Ezell's can be. The chicken from the Ezells factoria location is very underwhelming compared to other nearby locations i've eaten at for the last 5+ years. If you've never had Ezell's you would likely be satisfied with your meal, but I was not. I suggest communicating with the other locations to discover the differences in the final product that is produced. read more
