But let me tell you this place was a blessing in disguise!! First this place is in small little shop with a counter and man does this place have some charm they don't make restaurants like this no more, and we were able to snag a boot, and when I say small they have 3 booths and a counter with 6 seats and this place filled up fast. Now to the food, got the combination with sashimi and chicken teriyaki and my buddy got the tempura and the cut sushi rolls... everything was amazing, came out quick and hit the spot something about small mom and pop restaurants that hit different form the Chains. Service here can't get any better, our waitress was so nice and despite this place being packed she was very attentive and just a great person to talk to about the history of this restaurant. I love the ambiance here, very charming and just feels like going to grandmas house I dunno!! Overall I will definitely come back for the pork katsu looks delicious!! Thanks for the food and hope more people will discover those gems in the city

We had Daisy as our server, and were very happy. We had tea, tonkatsu curry, gyoza, chicken teriyaki bowl, and a combination plate with teriyaki beef and tempura. Everything was delicious, traditional, and portions were generous. I do wish they had a restroom, that is the one and only change I would make. We will definitely be back to visit this gem!

Yumami 5 stars…read more Across the board. And this is why. Yumami is a boutique shop nestled in a small but I would say mighty kitchen. Powered by three beautiful heart warming ladies who work their ass off to cook up what I believe is a quality meal at a very affordable price without skimping on the quality. Everyone working there is genuine. From the moment you walk up you are greeted with smiles, a welcoming hello, and sounds of sizzling fresh food being made to order. It sits right across the street from Moos Craft Barbecue and Tiera Mia coffee on Broadway in Lincoln heights. I found this place through yelp after an exhaustive search attempting to find something healthy, fresh, and made with love that my stomach can trust. While also fitting the price point I would prefer to pay for daily/weekly purchases - when I don't feel like cooking twice in one day. All I can say is. It's well worth, not only the money but your time, tastebuds and health! Their menu is set up very cleanly, they have a kiosk that doesn't confuse you and they have mix and match options that center around their base of veggies. Featuring Shanghai Bok choy, baby bok choy, and mustard greens, and or egg noodle if you are looking for a carb. I typically select the Shanghai bok choy to which the owner owns a farm for which is where they source the ingredients. You can choose a large size for 12 or regular size for 10 and you can always split the order with one of their other meat selection such as rib eye, pork loin, chicken, and short rib. All served with a house made sauce that I can't really describe in any other way than some kind of clean light butter sauce that adds a nice warmth and savory umami flavor. (Not saying it is butter though) I cannot speak on the red meats but as far as the tofu and the chicken they are cooked very well. Loads of flavor. Never dry. The ingredients are fresh. The bok choy comes out crunchy and piping hot like it's been have cooked in a wok which you can hear it has been l. And it's cooked to perfection. And the tofu is wonderfully silky and smooth. Sprinkled with sesame. It's one of those local shops that I feel makes the local neighborhood stronger simply because it is providing what 90 percent of establishments do not. Which is healthy food! They've chosen to make healthy food and we are thankful ! If you're in the neighborhood. Or even in downtown or close by. Give them a try and make sure to try their Bok choy apple juice. Yes I said that. Bok choy apple juice. 3$ for 8 ounces made fresh. Served nice a cool. 5 stars. Shout out to Cindy. Serving up the juices, and to everyone else who is working there - who makes - that experience as smooth, and available as it is. A true Gem! 5 stars Will update with a crisp photo when I don't eat it so fast I don't get a full shot.

Freshly made udon. Nothing goes better than this…read more My second time here. And this time we tried the duck udon and sea urchins udon. Both are excellent. The sea urchins one is creamy and VERY RICH. The cream sauce bend in really well with the sea urchins. But definitely not something you would order if you are on a weaker stomach. The duck udon is flavorful with plenty of meat. The soup pair perfectly with the udon as well. There was a line outside before it opened. But not too bad. They got a little eating area outside right next to the street and I saw people ate there with their dog as well. I guess that they are "kinda" dog friendly?

7/19/2026 3 1/2…read moreStars Not my first time here, but my first review on Yelp. Been awhile since I was last here. UDON KAKE It was good, but the broth was a bit salty at first. Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

The Tuna Carpaccio was easily my favorite! 10/10! The yuzu and sesame pairing was so bright and flavorful, and it was one of those dishes I could have ordered again and again. We also tried the Eggplant & Pine Nut Bing, Little Gem Salad, Tomato Salad, Mushroom Crispy Rice, Crispy Potatoes, and the Strip Steak. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and the strip steak was cooked to perfection. I paired my meal with a glass of red wine, which went perfectly with the steak. Overall, great food, great service, and a really enjoyable experience. Definitely worth coming back for!

The buns were definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. All three dips were delicious, and each one gave the bread a completely different flavor. The steak and eggs crispy rice was packed with flavor. The crispy rice added a really nice texture and made the dish more interesting than a typical steak and eggs. The steak could have used a bit more salt. The Branzino was another solid choice. It was flavorful. Such well balanced flavors . If you're looking for something lighter than the steak and eggs but still substantial, this is a good option. The customer service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel welcoming without being overbearing.

Still pleasant and friendly service with aged menus that haven't changed for decades other than prices. This one is always on the quieter side tucked into a mid-street strip mall around the corner across from Phoenix and Little Jewel (behind the corner General Store - which is a treasure hunt all its own, hint) They do a lot of delivery from this location, mostly fried and ramen. It started off with me observing the way the ankimo hand roll was being made right in front of me. I saw that they added some type of sauce and once it was placed in front of me, I politely asked if this roll contained any soy sauce, which I am allergic to since I have celiac disease. It was confirmed that this role had soy sauce, so I refused the roll, and at first the manager/supervisor was able to rearrange my order to regular 6 hand rolls. The ankimo that wasn't touched by me I asked her if I should give to my peers instead of throwing the handroll in the trash. She said yes. After my 5th roll they asked if we want to order anything else. I said I am still missing one roll. And she said you had 5 and the ankimo. I said I didn't eat the ankimo. And she said your friends did .... So she charged me the extra one that was going to the trash because I didn't want to waste food ... Throughout our conversation, it was not confirmed that the handroll I gave to my friend was supposed to be a part of the six hand rolls upgrade that the manager had offered me. It would've been best if she gave me some clarification so that I was not kept waiting for an extra handroll that I was able to eat due to my medical condition. I thought they would have been understanding, but unfortunately, I was wrong
