The interior design of this place is beautiful and very spot on. Love the small details and the wood design is aesthetically pleasing. I came by with my coworkers and the service is great and felt very welcomed. We were able to get some samples for the different flavors of ice creams that they had. I tried the biscoff, banana, and coffee. All flavors were very unique but my favorite was biscoff and banana I would recommend both of those flavors. We also met the owner, Mo. He was very energetic, funny, and welcoming I'm glad we were able to catch him while we were there. I will definitely be coming back to try all the flavors and especially the coffee! read more

When I read the concept for Filo, I was so excited to try it out. I think it's a perfect addition to the middle eastern cuisine culture! There is a sitting area upstairs with 2 tables and a high bar with chairs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I stepped into the places I really felt like I was transported to Syria. I really enjoyed the ice cream and the vibes. The ice cream flavors are so incredibly unique, you won't find flavors like these anywhere else. I got the pistachio , strawberry and lemon mint. I came here with high hopes because I love supporting places from my culture, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. I was in the area for a work meeting and brought a colleague with me, excited to share some Middle Eastern desserts. We arrived around 3 pm when it wasn't very busy and ordered right away. I had asked about the knafee in bread, but they no longer offer it, which was a letdown. Instead, we ordered two types of knafee (cheese and ashta), along with ice cream. The ice cream was tasty, but when I asked about portion sizes, the answer wasn't clear -- and the servings ended up being huge. While we waited for the knafee to bake, I mentioned to my colleague that she could take hers back to LA for her husband and reheat it in the microwave. The staff member didn't clarify anything at the time, but later, when she brought out the knafee, she told my colleague directly (right in front of me) that it shouldn't be microwaved and had to be eaten right away. It felt awkward and dismissive. As for the knafee itself -- I had some, and my husband did too. He grew up in Lebanon and has had some of the best knafee there, and I've enjoyed it with him on visits over the years. We both agreed this version was subpar, lacking the richness, freshness, and authentic texture we expected. To make matters worse, the value just wasn't there. For 3 knafee and 1 ice cream, the bill came to over $60, which felt very overpriced given the quality and experience. The space itself is small with limited seating inside, though it has a nice aesthetic overall. They've added a loft area upstairs for more seating, but it felt a little tight. Overall, the desserts were okay but nothing memorable, and the service left us disappointed. I really wanted to love this place and support it wholeheartedly, but between the lack of clarity, mixed communication, underwhelming knafee, high prices, and cramped seating, I don't see myself coming back. read more

Beautiful, beautiful ambiance the moment you walk in. It's so bright and well decorated that you can see the aesthetic from the outside. I felt instantly energized going in. We were immediately greeted and provided multiple ice cream samples. Even after I stopped asking for specific flavors, I was handed more and more flavors to try. If you have a bit of social anxiety like me, you hate to inconvenience people to grab samples so the initiative to hand them to me without asking was very appreciated! I ended up getting knafeh (which was my first time but not my partner's). If you grew up with "not too sweet" being the best compliment a dessert can get, Filo hit it right on the target. We were provided a (rose water?) syrup to add to adjust the sweetness as needed but I love that it wasn't immediately a slap of sugar in the face when I first tried it. It's very considerate of people who do not like or can't have very sweet things. The same can be said about their ice creams- the flavors truly come out and are not overshadowed by the sugar. The knafeh was warm and crunchy and the cheese was stretchy. My partner said this definitely hits an authentic knafeh flavor and texture but without the guilt of excess sugar. I'm pretty speechless right now. This gem of a dessert place had flavors that brought back treasured memories and made a few new ones. The unique ice cream textures and flavors astounded my family. The cardamon-infused Turkish coffee ice cream was my choice, but ever sample and taste from my family's choices was superb. My wife and daughter enjoyed their delicious - and currently viral - Dubai Chocolate Bar dessert topped with Lotus Cookie ice cream. It surpassed the hype.
