cacao one and it was really bitter haha. I ended up getting the Pistachio one bc it was a safe bet haha. I did enjoy how creamy and soft the ice cream was, but I wish the pistachio flavor could have been more pronounced. I feel like the taste was very lackluster, very subtle. I did enjoy the bits of pistachio in it, but it didn't really taste like much to me tbh. I enjoyed the consistency of it tho! Bf's sister got the jujuberry since she is lacstose, and she said it was refreshing. She said it tasted like blueberries since we weren't quite sure what jujuberry was haha. Service was nice, friendly. Patient with their customers when sampling ice cream.

Tried some flavors and ended up getting 1) lotus biscoff - kinda too sweet but you'll like if you enjoy biscoff cookies 2) antep pistachio - this is a must get! So good All are hand crafted and creamy. We got the $9.95 for 2 scoops.

First time visiting FILO Desert in Downtown Orange, and we're so glad we stopped by! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop has such a cool vibe -- it almost felt like a charming two-story ice cream spot with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. We were told she runs the whole shop by herself, and you can truly see how hardworking and passionate she is about what she does. She happily let us try several flavors, and every single one was excellent. The star of the night for us was definitely the Nila Banana ice cream -- absolutely delicious and full of flavor! Their Kunafe paired with ice cream was also next level and such a unique, tasty combination. Everything we tried was amazing, and the experience made it even better. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area looking for great desserts and ice cream. We'll definitely be coming back!

The staff were so patient and friendly. They helped explain the menu and gave us samples of ice cream. They recommended the strawberry cheesecake ice cream and the pistachio/almond cheesecake ice cream and let me do a split scoop because I couldn't decide between the two since they were so delish! The other flavors were very interesting and good too. My family liked the banana because it was real rather than artificial banana flavor. The ice cream was rich and creamy, not icy and not overly sweet either. We also enjoyed the crispy kanafeh and rice pudding which was super creamy and thick and had a nice floral flavor to it. The chamomile and vanilla latte were also great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a cozy corner with comfy bench seating that was perfect to hang out in plus ample space upstairs too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is parking in the back lot that is free but limited and pay for spot parking on the streets.

I love the ice cream at Filo and have wanted to try their knafeh since the first time we visited. After lunch today we walked over and got one to share. We had never had knafeh before, and weren't sure exactly what to expect since it's a cheesy dessert. We were VERY impressed and will come back for it again! It's a crispy, flakey dough, with a mild, somewhat salty, stringy cheese inside, covered with simple syrup and pistachios. LOVED IT. Since we were pretty full from lunch, we only ate half and took the rest home. The guy who helped us said to reheat it in the oven for a few minutes. I think we will be doing that tonight after dinner. This has become my go-to spot for Mediterranean desserts. Parking is conveniently located behind the building. Having lived in the Middle East for over five years, I sometimes really miss authentic flavors--and I'm so grateful to have found this place. The shop itself is small, but there's a second-floor seating area that offers a bit more space. I usually come for their homemade ice cream or their Knafooza--a crispy kunefe topped with your choice of ice cream. You can choose whether or not to have syrup on the kunefe, and extra syrup is available at the table if you want a little more sweetness. The staff are always incredibly friendly and hospitable, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

My wife introduced me to this fantastic dessert spot in Downtown Orange, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the Knafooza and the Boozalava with pistachio ice cream to share, and both were exceptional. The standout for us was the Knafooza. The kunafa was served warm, perfectly soft and gooey, with a balanced sweetness that didn't overpower the dish. The pistachio ice cream was smooth, rich, and subtly sweet -- a perfect complement that elevated every bite. The combination of warm pastry and cold, creamy ice cream was spot on. Service was attentive and friendly, and there was plenty of seating, making it easy to relax and enjoy our desserts without feeling rushed. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully crafted. It was indulgent without being heavy, and we're already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

I was actually blown away by the dessert here. As soon as you walk in and see the display case you can see the thought and intention that was put in to showcase their desserts and the delicacy of it. I ordered a boozlava and it was the perfect size for sharing between two people. To me it was a twist on a traditional baklava. The top was a thin crisp layer of filo pastry topped with pistachios. The entire dessert was crispy, creamy, nutty and delicious. The lady working was also really kind. She let us sample the different ice cream flavors, which are all great by the way. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great variety of ice cream flavors in a space decorated with Turkish tiles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were there when it was relatively empty, so the person working was really patient in letting us try out flavors. The crunchy baklava ice cream was delicious. While the ice cream flavor itself was plain, the baklava throughout added that extra bit of sweetness and texture that made it so good.

Reminds me of being in Morocco or the outdoor markets in Marrakesh. I really love the decor. There's seating downstairs as well as more seating upstairs. The decor throughout is well thought out and carried thru the entire place. Their public bathroom is outside in the back. You just have to ask for the code to get in. They provide you with little samples of their ice creams. I ended up getting their lemon mint zest ice cream. They have so many local flavors from that region. As well as some pretty interesting combinations as well. They also got other types of desserts (baklava, knafeh, fusion sweets, etc.) as well as drinks (coffees, teas, and fusion types). The lemon zest was good. It was refreshing, light and slightly tart. It was really good considering it was about 105 outside. And the temp indoor was about 85 degrees!! The icecream though is on the expensive side. $6.95 a scoop!!! And the scoop isn't on the large side. People working here are super nice. Greeted us upon walking in. Lots of smiles. Very helpful and kind. A unique dessert place if you're looking for something besides bobas and amaericsn style desserts!! read more

It's a very busy Saturday! I sampled the Istanbul coffee, kasbah peach, juju berry, Cairo cacao, and antep pistachio ice cream. Ended up getting a scoop of the kasbah peach, Cairo cacao, and pistachio affogato. The chocolate was so rich and dense. It was so filling. The peach however was so refreshing. The pistachio was gritty. I liked the different flavors and it's definitely worth a visit. The decor was beautiful as well. read more

Omg this place is amazing! Desserts were all delicious! Service was awesome, she was very knowledgeable about everything! The woman who helped us was also the owner and mentioned her husband makes the ice cream himself. I have never tried middle eastern dessert and now that I have, I'm hooked! We hung out for a little and she offered us a sample of the Levantine coffee. It was also very delicious! Everyone needs to go here and try it out. read more

swung by after dinner on a thursday night. it's a cute place, good amount of customers. service was friendly. we ordered the crispy knafeh which took about 5 minutes to prepare. it had a great crunch, the right amount of sweetness, and the cheese was great. the price is a bit high. we stopped by the next day to grab the viral dubai chocolate. it was pretty solid, good crunch and texture, but the filling didn't taste much like pistachio at all. would come back to try the coffee and ice cream! read more

Such a charming spot, would absolutely spend the entire day here!! First off, the knafeh khisneh was amazing - freshly prepared and the rose syrup was perfectly balanced. I recommend letting it soak for a bit before eating. 10/10 Staff was so friendly, brought us our order upstairs and made recommendations for next time. We'll definitely be back to support! This is the best Icecream shop of all time, it has made it to the TOP of my list. I'm so upset because I hadn't discovered this sooner. I came here with some friends after dinner we wanted something sweet to end the night and this was walking distance and looked delicious. The shop is very beautiful and has such a home feeling when you walk in. The workers are friendly and very patient when selecting what flavor of ice cream you want. Theres so many flavors of unique ice cream to choose from, it's not your basic flavors here. We got the Nile Banana which was amazing! I love how the flavor was NOT artificial at all and they used real banana. The baklava was delicious and perfect. The cookie butter was so good I'm upset I didn't take a pint home with me lol. The pistachio was also amazing. This ice cream also has a different consistency than other ice creams. The flavors were insanely rich and full of flavor and dense. If this review were purely based on the ice cream, I would give it a 5/5. The flavors were absolutely amazing and have the perfect amount of sweetness. I tried the lemon mint zest, juju berry, and baklava crunch ice cream flavors. They all had very strong and distinct flavors but the juju berry and baklava crunch were a little too chunky for my liking. I really liked the lemon mint zest. It was different from your typical lemon ice cream which is usually a little tart and has that artificial lemonade flavor. Their lemon mint ice cream was creamy, light, not tart at all but not overly sweet. It was super refreshing and I highly recommend! Their scoops are also a lot bigger than a lot of the ice cream places I've been to which I do appreciate. Now the service...my friend and I have been skipped over twice when we finally got to the front of the line. There's a different area for waiting for your ice cream so it was clear we were there to sample and put in an order. A different worker noticed that we weren't helped yet and she was very nice and helpful BUT I noticed that she handled ice cream cones without gloves which is a food safety concern. When it was time to pay for the order, the man who was ringing us up looked like he didn't care to be there. It kind of gave me a negative vibe like we welcomed there. The decor is super cute and they have a cozy little place under the stairs where you can hang out. I've seen a lot of people sitting in the loft above. The store is pretty small so most people just grab their orders and leave. Overall, their ice cream was really good so I'm open to coming back but I probably won't go out of my way to get their ice cream. read more

My husband and I have been here 3 times and it never disappoints. It has become our favorite dessert spot. All their ice cream flavors are amazing and unique. The pistachio ice cream actually tastes like real pistachios. Their customer service is amazing, everyone is friendly. Disappointed... the ice cream was amazing as usual. However, the baklava was so disappointing. It was super dense and not flaky at all, and I got the pistachio one today and I found a rock??? in mine. I bit into it and I had tooth pain for the next three minutes cause of it and after I tried biting into it to see if it might've been a candied pistachio and it was so hard and inedible. Super sad last time was so good that I brought friends and we all ordered two, super sad this time don't recommend the boozalava but the ice cream was good. read more

Extremely mediocre doesn't begin to describe our experience here. First of all, they didn't have 2 out of 3 middle eastern coffee options at 2:30 in the afternoon so we were literally only left with Turkish coffee as the only niche coffee option that we drove out here for. We also sampled a couple of the equally unappealing ice creams and opted not to get any of them. We also were left so underwhelmed at the pastry/dessert selection and opted for the baklava. Well, let's just say it was so dry and unappetizing that we barely finished half. I honestly didn't wanna waste my sugar/calorie limit on it. The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is because the Caucasian lady working the counter was very nice and the decor of the place was cute. Nothing about the food or drink deserves any praise. read more

Had the ashta kanafa. So good!! Clotted cream was inside. They bake it when you order it so it takes a bit of time before it's ready but worth th wait. When I went with my friends, it was 9pm on a Thursday night and was fairly busy. There was only one person manning everything - register and food prep (making the drinks, scooping ice cream, baking this), so totally understandable. Great decoration and vibes inside the shop. Very modern but also cultural touch to the interior. Street parking unless maybe you park at a structure for the orange circle, but this is like a block away/on the outskirts of the orange circle read more

Really cute spot! I went in on a Monday night & it was busy. Granted it's summer & it was 80 out. I came specifically for ice cream & they had so many options. They have creamy & sorbet options. I went with the employee's suggestion. A mix of pistachio which he mentioned was high quality shipped from turkey & a mastic which tasted like marshmallow to me. It was a great combo! read more

Filo Desserts was fantastic--truly a great experience. The owner, Meme, helped my wife and me during our visit, and she was incredibly pleasant, patient, and accommodating. Her customer service is a perfect 10 out of 10. We tried the Ashta Arabic ice cream with extra pistachios, and it was excellent. But the real standout was the Kunafa--hands down the best I've had in this area. It's served in individual portions and baked fresh to order, then topped with pistachios (which I love on everything). Filo Dessert is located in Old Towne Orange and opens late until 11 PM. I visited on a Saturday night, about an hour or so before closing, and it was popping! I ordered the knafooza ($14) which comes with a healthy scoop of ice cream that tops a roughly 4-inch diameter piece of knafeh. The knafeh was lightly sweet with a good crust and cheesy filling. I opted to have the Lotus Biscoff ice cream which was delightful and with a slight stretchiness, especially as a fan of Biscoff/cookie butter. Service was relatively quick, although there didn't seem to be a system for monitoring orders. The staff member somehow found us upstairs and initially brought an order with a different scoop of ice cream, but was prompt with bringing the correct order a few minutes later. The ambiance is warm, well-lit, and with friendly staff. There's plenty of street parking outside. I'd definitely return to try their other flavors of ice cream! read more

Their ingredients are top notch, like using protein and fiber-containing almond flour; also a healthier fat like ghee instead of butter (cheap bakeries including store bought use industrialized seed oils). As a sweetener they use allulose - a natural (but pricey) sweetener that is found in fruits but tastes like regular sugar, unlike the semi bitter stevia. I'm glad they don't use erythritol - a popular sweetener which has been linked to blood clots. They also use xylitol which, when isolated, prevents tooth decay - but is dangerous to dogs. For humans, results in far less carbs than regular inexpensive bleached white flour baked goods which when added with table sugar gives a massive sugar spike. Not good for people with insulin resistance (which includes many older adults). It's a small space but it smelled great when I was in there as they were baking. It would've been great had they sold good coffee and a place to sit but that would probably raise their prices even more. Because of the expensive ingredients, don't expect a lot of their goodness for the price. The carrot cake slice was probably half of the size in another regular bakery, but it was delicious. Note that because of the crushed almond, the texture is somewhat more grainy than a white flour based carrot cake. Same with the $9 Tres Lechces cake slice. But in both cases, the taste was good and I felt better eating them because the calorie count, as well as carb load was much, much less. Actually, what I was looking for was a cinnamon roll but they had sold out. There are a lot of different types of muffins, cookies and cakes.So if you're a sweet tooth, you should give them a try. (a side note - next door is a good Chinese restaurant - Royal Wok, with nicely prices lunch specials).

Restaurant is on the first floor towards the back and is super chic inside. Restaurant itself is not very big, so you may encounter a wait.. but it's worth it. Plus the staff is friendly - they tell you up front about the included 17% gratuity. Ramen is perfection. Egg noodles are the perfect texture and the tonkotsu broth is so good! I added a heap of garlic as that's my preference, but you can get garlic on the side. The chashu top is nice and juicy as well. All in all a solid spot.

The broth was rich and flavorful, and it really hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The service was exceptional, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. It's a smaller space, but I visited during lunchtime on a Thursday and it wasn't busy at all, which made for a relaxing experience. Overall, a great little spot and one I would gladly visit again.

I haven't seen this here in CA yet so this is cool that this has been here for so long! My bf has been going here for years but I haven't been yet. They have a variety of beers and wine bottled and also in tap. There's a coffee shop to order some lattes or tea in the center. Then they also have some food. There's many tables to sit and it's spacious. Not too busy the time we went and We were able to watch World Cup game without a crazy crowd. We enjoyed our lunch and drinks!

I have gone the past 2 years and never had issues getting it on the first day. This year was different. I got there around 5:05 and walked into the shop to see a lot of tables empty. I was shocked to see that. I waited in line with maybe like two people in front of me and guess what they asked of Pliny was still available. The guy working said to the people in front of me that they sold out. It was my turn I asked if they had it and the guy said that they had a line since 3pm and that they sold out of the keg. We ended up getting two beers since we went anyways but that's when things didn't add up. He kept telling all the other people that started to show up the same thing. These are reasons why it didn't add up 1) empty seats inside but had a line since 3pm and beer was released at 4pm 2) I don't think the people going for younger would just order one beer and not try other RR beers? 3) only one guy working beer counter and having to clean the tables and make sandwiches? 4) 12 oz pours of beer and keg with about 1984 oz would make it 166 beers. No way they sold 166 beers in an hour with one person working the bar and shop empty in an hour. They could have posted on their instagram or socials that they sold out but failed to do so. I'm sure a lot of people all night were disappointed to see that they didn't have it or post anything about it.

We ordered the breakfast burrito and smoked salmon toast. The smoked salmon toast was really good, but the bread was a bit hard; it wasn't the soft bread. The breakfast burrito was okay because it was a bit dry to me. It does come with salsa, but I would prefer if they had their own sauce. I tried their seasonal Banana Foster Iced Latte, and it was good! Situated in the building just beyond the library before entering the old town circle, parking is available in the back or on the street. Upon stepping in early, my companion and I appeared to be the first customers of the day. A friendly and attentive young lady greeted us at the front, enhancing our initial visit. The menu is straightforward, divided into three sections: Beverages (herbal teas & coffee), Desserts (Knafeh & Baklava), and Booza/Ice Cream (offering a variety of intriguing flavors). The kind staff member allowed me ample time to peruse the menu. After careful consideration, I opted for the walnut Baklava, Knafeh, Turkish coffee, and pistachio Booza. Despite my unfamiliarity with these delicacies, each item I sampled was delightful. The Baklava, filled with walnuts and syrup, boasted a fresh and crispy filo dough. Knafeh, a novel experience for me, proved to be intriguing. Fans of contrasting textures will appreciate this dessert, served warm with a crispy exterior (kataifi noodle crust) and a warm, gooey cheese filling. Drizzling the provided syrup over the Knafeh enhanced its flavors. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly sweet, making it a delightful discovery. Finally tried Filo Dessert Co in Old Towne Orange after constantly seeing a line out the door and it definitely lived up to the hype. This was my first time trying desserts like knafeh and fresh booza and I was honestly blown away by how unique everything tasted. The booza has a super stretchy, creamy texture that's completely different from regular ice cream, and the pistachio flavors were sooo good without being overly sweet. The knafeh came out warm, crispy, cheesy, and perfectly syrupy while the baklava had the perfect crunch. You can tell a lot of care goes into the desserts here. I also loved how they blend traditional Middle Eastern desserts with a more modern presentation and atmosphere. The shop itself is really cute inside and the staff was super patient explaining the menu to first timers. My fiancée and I went in for the first time and we instantly were greeted by the owner and the person working. I asked the owner what he recommended and he was very helpful and enthusiastic about his product. He suggested a few ice cream flavors and he suggested that I tried the knafeh so I did and it was very interesting. I do recommend trying it for the experience it comes with! The owner of this place is a perfect business owner and isn't all about money instead he is so positive and supportive of his creation. The inside was very nice and full of positive energy. Incredible experience! We tried the Knafeh, Lotus Biscoff/Lemon Mint ice cream, and Baklava, and they were all outstanding. I often find dessert places hit or miss, but Filo Dessert truly exceeded my expectations. Though they offer a limited menu, everything was spot on. My boyfriend's favorite was the Knafeh, while I was really impressed by the ice cream and Baklava. The Baklava was crispy and not too sweet. I recently visited Filo Desserts, which just opened and is gearing up for their grand opening on July 13. I tried the vanilla coconut latte, and it was excellent! The flavor was perfectly balanced, making it a delightful treat. The interior is very cute with plenty of seating and adorable decorations that create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Both the Knafeh and Turkish coffee are amazing! The lady at the counter was so kind and welcoming, and she made everything fresh.
