Fire on the mountain is always a treat! For us it's walkable and they have wings but also veggie options so it's a constantly dangerous temptation. Typically I go for boneless wings but I must say the FOTM boneless are significantly more expensive than bone-in so I trade off. My go to sauces are Buffalo bleu, sweet bbq, and garlic parm - all are incredible. I do miss the days when you could use a pretzel and taste all of the sauces but those were before Covid times . They have so many sauces to choose from to make anyone in your group happy and you can get multiple sauces in one order or get them on the side. Also I'm a major ranch fan and they have great ranch. Recently we tried the seitan wings for the first time and they were pretty good! A solid veggie option although I think I enjoy the cauliflower ones even more. I would recommend if you're going to get the seitan wings to get a spicy or sauce because it seemed like those went better with the consistency of the wing. Another detail I love about fire on the Mountain is that they feature a lot of local artists on their walls. The first time I ever went in I found art from my own school's art teacher that I had no idea was on display! Just another fun way to support local. If you're in the wash park area or in the Highlands I would definitely recommend stopping by fire on the Mountain sometime soon to get some wings or just appetizers in general. My favorite wing spot in Denver! Their wings always come out perfectly crisp and saucy! Spicy Peanut, garlic Parmesan and medium are must gets. The mozzarella wheels and sweet potatoes tots are also super delicious! Wait staff is always super friendly and helpful. I once placed an order for pick up and it was ready far before the estimated ready time(which would be when I got off work). I called and expressed my concern and they said it would be fine. So darn sad -- this used to be my favorite restaurant, 100% craveable. We ordered tatortots and there was a 1/4 of grease in the bottom of the tray. I don't even know how that happens but gross. The food is pretty decent, but the Cajun dry rub was pretty uninventive. Definitely not worth it for the price. Staff was very friendly, and the restaurant itself had a great atmosphere to it. Could be worth checking out again, maybe the sauces are better? Who knows. read more

Probably the best wings in Colorado, and consistently fulfill my wing craving. They have unique flavors that you can actually try before you order. I usually go with the mango habanero, but not a fan of the dry rub. I do recommend their fries, they are the perfect complement to your wings. Staff is friendly with some hippie vibes. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and patient as we stood at the counter and sampled their different sauces with pretzels. I ordered the sweet potato tots, hot wings, and wings with their flavor of the month sauce which turned out to be their hot wings mixed with sambal. The tots were cooked perfectly and had a good balance of flavor. The wings were all solid. They could have been a little crispier but other than that they were cooked perfectly. The short: mediocre wings, good sauces, wayyyy overpriced. I get that the wings are all natural, fresh, good quality chicken, etc. But at the end of the day, they are wings. And when I eat wings, I like a good sized meaty, juicy, and crispy wing! Wings are generally bar food, so I'm not looking for the cleanest or most natural form. I want flavorful, quick, and decent bang for my buck. It is cool to see a whole concept - that seems to be very successful - based solely on wings. But I have a hard time justifying paying north of a $1 per not-that-meaty wing when there are plenty of bars and restaurants across the Denver area that run specials for 50c or even unlimited wings. The array of sauces is legit, and it is nice to be able to try any of them before buying. Ordered takeout online last night. Had the vegan gyro and seitan wings. Ordering was a little confusing - gyro comes with a default side of fries so that's what you get if you don't pick something else when you order. Ordering wings let you pick up to 2 different sauces but am I supposed to pick 3 wings of "sauce 1" and 3 wings of "sauce 2"? I was trying to order 1/2 &1/2 but may have only ordered 1wing of each? Not sure. Either way, there was enough of the Buffalo sauce at the bottom of the foil they were all wrapped in that I think they were all the Buffalo sauce - I couldn't taste if any of them might have been cilantro lime. I wish I'd ordered extra vegan tzatziki for the gyro and, overall, it was a little forward on the herb flavor (which is also what made me wish for extra sauce). Fire On The Mountain has been a weekly favorite of mine since I moved to the neighborhood around five years ago. The wings are hands-down the best in Denver. If you're looking for clean, hormone-free, free range chicken wings and comparably conscientious sides then FoTM is an ideal and delectable choice. If you couldn't care less about that, but love good Buffalo wings, it's just as good. I highly recommend the boneless wings and tater tots. A caution: with the explosion of mid-rise apartments in the neighborhood and the commensurate explosion in the millennial population, the wait at FoTM is consistently over 30 to 45 minutes for a table and sometimes 30+ minutes on top of that for wings. The reason this isn't a five-star review: in keeping with their name, FoTM's staff are a hippy, grungy bunch. For some, this will no doubt be endearing. For others, this just means the service isn't what they would expect for a place that pumps out industrial quantities of award-winning wings. read more

My first time and I had been looking forward to it. At the end of the day, the wings were really good and I liked both sauces I got. The queso was... Disappointing after how good I had heard it was. And, the amount you get for $8 is silly, it's a pretty small cup and ours was only filled halfway. But, it wasn't great, so no worries there. Worst part was that after 25 minutes of waiting for my friends chicken sandwich to be served - me having already finished my meal - we find out it was never being made and they'd have to make it now. I've come to FOTM at least 20 times since they opened this location and I can't say enough good things about them. They use the highest quality meats and ingredients; pasture raised chickens, grass-fed beef, etc. Everything is made from scratch. They have a plethora of wing sauces, although I typically get the Jamaican jerk and hot buffalo now that I've tried most of them. I've had some of their other entrees like the burger and buffalo chicken sandwiches which hold their own for sure. Fries are on point, very crispy, and have a hint of something sweet I've never figured out what it is. Their bartender Ed is the coolest and always is able to suggest the perfect brew to go with my wings. The tap list always has beers that are exciting to me. Overall I really like this place and usually think their wings are amazing hence the 4 stars. But did a pickup order and was disappointed. The wings were SO small (like way smaller than all the other times) and it's not like they give you extra wings before they are so tiny (like some of my other favorite places if the batch is small) and I would say they were drowning in sauce (I didn't order extra saucey even though it was an option). I would definitely say the prices aren't on the lower end ($6 deep eddy vodka at HH compared to $5 or $4 at other spots in the neighborhood), but the food quality is really good and worth it. Fire on the mountain - a low down review You order at a counter when you come in, so know what you want before you approach. One thing I hate is that counter order ask for tip before the service. Basically they bring out your order and that's it. Its self serve all the way.......hence why the tip? A cheep way to make blue cheese is to use ranch with small bits of blue cheese. I also tried the gf cauliflower. It is well prepared batter does not have too much flavor so the sauce is what you take in. This was a nice addition for GF and Vegan. Know that if you think "I'll sit outside on a sunny day and relax", think again. The outdoor was very very loud with just a few patrons at a 1:30 lunch during the week. I wear hearing aids (since the age of 20) so if I think its loud.....All you people with normal hearing will feel like a rock concert. Hands down best wings in Denver, because everything is real! The food is real (you'll know what you're getting and from where), the sauces are made in house, and the people are real.
