Sometimes you luck out a find a restaurant that actually deserves 5 Stars. Firefly is one of them!! Arriving here we were greeted right away by the hostess. I explained I had made a reservation for inside but wanted to know if they could accommodate outside instead. She said yes but it would be a few minutes if we didn't mind waiting. No problem! Once we were seated we were almost immediately greeted by our waiter who was very friendly. He brought waters and got our drink order. We placed an order of Tapas and paella which he explained is cooked to order and takes 40 minutes. Again, no problem. We were not in a rush and it gave us time to enjoy our Tapas first. The food here is fantastic! Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh and came out hot! Nothing was a disappointment. Their complementary bread and butter is delicious! They have awesome happy hour special menu which makes the already very reasonably priced menu event better. This was the second stop on our Vegas food tour. During our trip to Madrid we (especially me) really enjoyed all the different tapas, so I was really looking forward to this dining experience. Our reservation was at 8pm, we arrived right on time and was seated shortly after. Our server Omar brought waters and took our order, and a few minutes later, the food started coming out. This is my first time visiting this location. I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the modern kick the restaurant has adopted to its decor, without compromising the quality of the food. I did order some of my usual favorites: stuffed dates, mixed paella, white sangria, and ceviche. All tasted as amazing as they have for years! I ventured out a little by trying the tomato bread with cheese - yummy! I recommend you eat them quick, because they can get soggy. I also tried the passionfruit cheesecakes that were to DIE for. They weren't too sweet, and they were bite sized. We also ordered some churros for the table. Want to indulge a little? Order the churros AND the passionfruit cheesecake bites! As soon as you walk in, you see bright and trendy, then some moody decor, and a separate quirky bright pink room. Theres a room for whatever style that suits you but I thought it was executed tastefully. The servers were friendly, quick, and attentive. The coffee was different, in a delicious way. We had so many different foods I'm not sure I can remember them all and we dug in so quickly that I didn't get pictures of most of them. The chicken and mushroom paella was excellent but please remember you must order that as soon as you sit down because it takes at least 40 minutes to make it. We personally like that one better than the seafood paella which was a little dry and overcooked the chicken skewer was made with no seasoning for one of the young men who ate all three of them and was very happy. The young lady had Fillet mignon with potatoes and she couldn't get enough of it. We had a few orders of date wrapped figs, goat cheese and sauce, brussels sprouts, butternut squash soup, some sort of peppers,, ribs, meatballs, Vanilla gelato and flourless chocolate cake for dessert I had met John the owner at Thanksgiving time. We are celebrating Valentine's a little late due to schedules. The mister hadn't had tapas before and saw this place. I had been to the previous location years ago. We were a bit underdressed but felt at ease. We were greeted and directed to the "lounge" area which was open seating. We found a spot and were greeted by Rafael. We had a reservation and were 15 minutes late but when we called ahead they were very gracious. It seems a bit supper club from the outside but the minute you open the door the sounds of fun and excitement come pouring out. We had the big corner booth and experienced really great service the entire night. Everything we had was also delicious and food started coming out almost immediately. Terrible Service Overshadows a Fun Night! I've been to Firefly three times in the past month and a half only because of their "Puro Despecho" Latin Night. The music, the vibe, and the crowd are fantastic--but the restaurant service is hands-down awful, and the only reason I hesitate to keep coming back. On our most recent visit (Sat May 31), we were "served" (if you can call it that) by a man with tattoos on his neck--I believe his name was Jose Antonio--who clearly lacks even basic customer service skills. It took 40 minutes after we were seated for him to take our first order. And after that? He only came around once--the rest of the time, we had to flag him down every single time we wanted to order more food or drinks. We could've easily ordered more (and spent more!) if he had simply shown his face or checked in like any normal server would. That's lost revenue for the restaurant and a frustrating experience for us. And here's the real shame: the food and drinks are actually good! We were a group of 8 girls, seated at a high-top table with only 4 stools. A very kind busser--a tall guy with a mustache--brought over extra stools without hesitation. While setting them down, Jose Antonio came over and scolded him in front of us. I approached him to ask why we couldn't keep the stools, and his response was, "It's a table for 8, and only 4 of you can sit. The other 4 HAVE TO STAND. We need space." The way he said it was unbelievably rude. When I pushed back, he replied, "I have to go get approval"--which felt more like he was going to complain to his manager and make sure they backed him up. Embarrassingly, it was the busser who returned to apologize to us and said, "He was rude, I'm sorry." That man deserves a raise--he's the only one who showed an ounce of customer care. Needless to say, we kept the extra stools, but I think that annoyed our server and he made it a point not to check on us for 45 minutes. Since Firefly moved to its new location, I've only been there once. I miss the old red, Spanish-inspired decor and cozy feel. I only came back recently because of the entertainment. And that is the only reason I'm even considering going back on Saturday nights. If the entertainment ever goes away, I won't set foot in that place again unless the service dramatically improves. Firefly, if you're listening: the Latin night is amazing, your food and drinks are solid, but your service is driving people away. Fix that, or risk losing even the guests who want to love this place. read more
