We desperately miss The Egg & I. :-( This newly renovated restaurant did not meet our standards. First, the menu is completely different. No more delicious scrambles, no more corned beef hash and eggs. In their place are dishes featuring turkey sausage and egg whites. Still, we decided to give this place a try. They got my order wrong -- twice -- because their dishes have similar names such as "The Farmhouse" and "The Parm". I wasn't the only one as we saw at least two other tables around us sending their dishes back for correction. When I did get the correct dish, my family was done eating and ready to leave while I was trying to rush through mine. I wound up taking most of it to go. The food itself was only ok. The only dish we agreed was good was "The Parm". It tasted like a pizza scramble and contained pork sausage. I don't think we'll be back. Alas, we'll need to find a new breakfast locale. read more

I came to first watch today to have brunch with some friends. When we were seated we ordered and then waited approximately 30 minutes before our server came back to tell us they messed up on our order and had to remake it. After about 20 more minutes my table received their food, yet I still hadn't. I finally received my food and the avocado was disgusting. It was drenched in lemon juice oils and it was bad. After all this trouble all we seemed to get in return was a free coffee that I did not ask for and a muffin for the four of us to split. Not a great experience. bummer. read more

A friend and I decided to try this place out after our initial choice told us it was going to be a 30+ minute wait. (It was a Sunday I get it) First Watch was able to get us seated within 10 minutes which was nice. The atmosphere was very crowded/decor was beautiful. Our waitress was nice, attentive, and knowledgeable. The menu seemed traditional but limited on selections (WOW factors) that would make First Watch stand out from other Brunch/Breakfast/Lunch Spots I've been to especially considering there's not even a drink menu which was a buzzkill because Sunday Funday = Mimosas/Bloody Marys. I ended up going with the Tri-Fecta entree (2 sunnyside eggs, one lemon ricotta pankcake, and 2 pieces of million dollar bacon). For almost $11 I was disappointed with the portion size and felt like if there were potatoes or an extra pancake included with the combo for that pricing that I would have gotten full/my moneys worth. I ended up getting four more strips of bacon just to get full. Why did I get four more strips of bacon instead of potatoes you ask? Because that million dollar bacon is DELICIOUS! The bacon shouldn't be the highlight of an entire brunch meal but it sure did get my attention. It had a nice little pepper kick to it and the maple syrup drizzled on top did the trick. The pancake was nice and fluffy, strawberries/lemon made it more enjoyable. Eggs weren't any special. My friend wasn't blown away but wasn't too disappointed either. Overall, it was OK. Its worth a visit. Revamp of the menu with alcoholic-beverages & additional add-ons to some of their entrees would make this place a big competitor in the area. read more

We weren't sure what to expect when we came across First Watch. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted immediately at the door by a happy and energetic host; so refreshing to receive a genuine "good morning!" We were impressed by the rustic decor and the overall Energy in the restaurant as we were shown to our table. Love, love, Love that our server greeted us quickly with a hot, fresh pot of coffee and then left the pot for us at the table! She was knowledgeable, energetic and helpful as she helped took our order. We tried the kale tonic, omg yum! Who knew green drinks could taste so good?! Lol And before we knew it, We had hot, fresh and healthy food at our table! Hubby had a BLTE- I guess it normally comes with greens, but he was feeling a little more on the indulgent side so he opted for the creamy tomato basil soup(at no extra charge, win!) 4 stars for the food! I have been here about 5 times now, and I have nothing negative to say about the food. It's light, fresh and just what you want for breakfast or lunch! I am from flower mound, and now live in Dallas. And this might be one of my favorite stops for breakfast anywhere. 2 stars for the staff---There is one waiter who actually looks happy to be there, and every other waiter or waitress looks miserable, tired, and does not engage. It always takes a while to be greeted when you are first seated, and the follow up is not really there. Just a simple smile might help, make it a more energetic place rather than going through the motions, or hiding in the back until their tables food is ready. It might be lack of training because I have heard the same comments about the Preston location, and it might be young staff who have the "I don't care attitude" either way I love to tip a waiter who does a good job and seems like they want to be there, it's hard to do the same here when they could "care less". read more

The sandwich was fantastic, and my breakfast companion's only complaint was that the egg hash had too many onions for her liking (although it looked really good to me as a fan of sautéed onions). Some other reviews complained about slow service. We came at 11:30 on a Saturday. There was no wait. Service was prompt, and the food came quickly. Mayne they were just working through some opening road bumps a few months ago??The food is all very fresh. ROY SAVED THE DAY! Was seated for over 15 minutes and no one even took our drink order. I get it Saturday morning it does get crazy. Roy came in remembered we got coffee last time poured us cups took our order and ended up actually not being our true server. He just remember us from our last visit and wanted to help prego out. I have eaten at a few other locations and always had a good experience. This past weekend we were out by Flowermound and tried this location. It did not disappoint! I had the superfood bowl and my husband had the market hash. We both had their signature juices (kale tonic and day glow). Food was great. I was pleased that it came out of the kitchen fast as well. First Watch is a decent little breakfast-lunch place that opened up where The Egg and I used to be. The prices are a tad bit higher than other places nearby, but they offer dishes that you probably won't find at most other restaurants (although honestly most of it doesn't sound that appealing--looking at you, Power Bowls!). We've been twice now and between my wife and I have had the lemon ricotta pancakes, brioche french toast, and biscuits and gravy. All of the food was really good and both times the service was good enough (on my first visit my coffee pot was never refilled). Million Dollar Bacon was good but again cold & 1 slice was a tiny poor stepchild version of the other 3 slices. More Bad. Coffee was half cup poured with an almost empty pot left at the table. After a VERY Lonnngg wait food was delivered COLD. Indicates food was up and ready but no one completed the process of promptly delivering to the table while still hot. Wife's toast was barely toasted so glob of butter/margarine remained solid. Not warm enough to melt. Reality of Eggs Benedict on a rounded Ciabatta Roll simply doesnt work. Eggs, Tomatoes, avocado and pile of mixed greens just fell off. Also I didn't recall saying hold the Hollandaise...MIA. Would have complained immediately to the server but she never worked up the courage to return to the table to check how everything was. The price point of this breakfast Specialty place $$$ so we expected much better execution. I believe the reputation of this restaurant is pretty good and it was busy so hopefully the disappointment of our negative experience is an outlier. Final comments.... When you are entertaining a 3 year old long service waits are really painful. I saved several slices of bacon and Wifes untoasted toast for take home (planning to Re-Toast the Toast). Hmmmm..Waitress did not know the meaning of the term 'Doggy Bag'... a bit funny....perhaps a comment on the younger generation. I settled for a to go box. Won't be back. The food was lacking in substance (as in amount). I ordered the tri-fecta with a Belgin waffle, 2 eggs and 2 bacon strips. I left still hungry. The food was cold, not even luke warm, and the service was barely existant. Our waitress took our order, brought water and gave us our check almost as soon as we finally got our food. Nothing else.
