New to the Knoxville area and what's better than finding the ultimate brunch spot right in your neighborhood! I have to admit when I heard about the "million dollar bacon" I thought really? Could bacon taste that good? Well let me assure you it is! I had a side of it on my Lemon ricotta pancakes and it just wasn't enough so much so I had to order a separate plate just to savor every bite. This crispy seared bacon in maple syrup w fresh cracked pepper made me think to myself had I ever really had bacon before this ? the answer was absolutely not! As I enjoyed the warm weather on the patio I found myself wanting order everything on the menu that ranged from healthy breakfast bowls, to garden salads and host of other items you will see on the two menus. All though they were busy the staff was friendly and customer service oriented. I really enjoyed the fresh juices and omelette options. While I do think they are a bit pricy for breakfast, my meal alone with coffee and juice was $29.00 and change I will give it the "worth it" thumbs up for a weekend splurge. Super pleased with their menu, the service, and the vibe overall. Our waitress, Samantha, was on point! For starters, she gave me a tasting of their Carrot Ginger Chai Iced Tea. It was sooooo good and I just had to get one! She made great recommendations and was even happy to cater to our picky dietary needs. All the staff seemed happy and had pep in their step. This will be my "go to" for breakfast/ brunch/ lunch from here on. Do yourself a favor and try the Millionaires Bacon! Oh. My. Gosh! Heavenly!!! I'm stoked that they are willing to customize your meal however you wish - including Eggs Benedict! Yesss! They even make omelets with egg whites for the healthy folks! Very good, would have given it more stars but was somewhat dismayed by the false 2-$$ rating. Had the french toast (pretty plain and could have used a little more time on the grill) but still tasty, warm syrup is a nice touch. BTW it did not appear to be thick cut as others have mentioned, possibly they were out an had to substitute. The Eggs Benedict was very good with thin sliced ham, they also had several alternative versions, the sauce had stronger than usual lemon taste which wasn't a problem for me or my wife - jusy FYI. I am not sure I understand the hype of this place. Yes, from a menu standpoint the offerings sound inviting. However, execution can make or break a dish. I ordered the Ham & Gruyere Omelette with Potatoes and Gluten Free Toast. My omelette was underwhelming. The eggs were dry and overcooked. Why is it so hard to find well prepared eggs in Knoxville? Secondly, the omelette lacked flavor. The potatoes were just sad. No crisp exterior and mushy inside. Toast is toast. But it is hard to say much about it when you are told you have to wait on it. It finally arrived half way through my meal without any butter or jam. By the time our waitress actually decided to check on us, we were almost finished with our meal. However, I still asked for some butter and a fresh piece of toast. It arrived several minutes later along with our check. The meal alone was a disappointment but the lack of attention or service sealed it's fate. Perhaps it is my own fault for choosing this spot over a local establishment. It's a fairly average restaurant, the food is always on par, and also done well. My only complaint is the consistent waits, and it's very basic. It's not bad, but it just doesn't have that pop to it that makes me go, "Man I wanna go eat some first watch.", like other restaurants do, it's more , "well I'm up early enough to beat the lines and its 5 minutes from my condo, I'm down for an omelette." I finally visited First Watch for the first time at the new location in Fountain City and was impressed from the minute I walked in the door. The decor is comfortable and reminds me of being at home with family and friends. The menu was full of incredible items and I opted for the eggs benedict. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. I loved that they brought me a pot of hot water to have with my tea (and an assortment of tea bags) this is a big change compared to many other restaurants. They also brought a pot of coffee for my husband which saved us from flagging down the waitress for refills. The staff was polite and we didn't feel rushed at all while we lingered over our breakfast. They mentioned that the new menu would be coming out and I can't wait to check it out.
