I also ordered online so I didn't communicate exactly what I was getting, for example, my lite veggie dish was just cabbage, carrots, and some broccoli- basically the cheaper veggies. I was hoping for maybe some bok-choi, other greens? And it was $10. Other than that, the beef chow fun was good, the egg drop soup is one of the better ones I had, and house fried rice was decent. Still a greasy spoon place but I gave in and my hubby and I stopped by. The food was really fresh. I got orange chicken, really tasty but I got a stomach ache everytime I ate some. I'm thinking it must be the oil. I couldn't stop eating it tho. It lasted me 3 meals (tiny tummy) I also got the fried rice, I think it was good didn't eat much of it. The last item was string bean chicken, it was ok I would pass next time. The orders came with soup, I opted for egg drop soup. It was a bit bland but it was still ok aside from the egg, it felt slimy going down my throat almost like snot. Sorry just being honest. My hubby got hot and sour soup, he said it was good and offered me some but I was too full. This spot is a little hidden in the shopping center, but they are a total gem. The service has always been impeccably fast and friendly every time I've been here. On my last trip, I ordered from the low-fat section of the menu. Being on a low-fat diet, I am used to leaving restaurants either feeling guilty or yearning for more protein. Their light vegetables and chicken with spicy garlic sauce on the side was PERFECT. It came in a cute little steamer basket and the serving size was generous enough for about two or three servings, depending on how hungry you might be. (I may or may not be eating the leftovers now as I type this.) For those who aren't adhering to a low-fat diet, I would highly recommend the crab rangoons. They are perfectly crispy and the crab (or is it krab?) is slightly sweet. They are totally addictive. I was staying at a hotel close by, my boyfriend and I wanted some Chinese so this came up. We order the 2 egg rolls,chow main, fried rice,beef broccoli and mushroom chicken oh and two sodas. We didn't end up getting our food until 2 hours later I had to call the place twice and they said that our food has been delivered but we never got it, that it was my fault cause I never gave them our room number. Our sodas were HOT and our egg rolls soggy we had to re-heat all the food. If the lady called me back to notify me they were out of a specific kind of food they could sure call me back and asked for our room number. They normally have more coming out from the kitchen is any of the supplies are on low, so if you're cool with waiting a few minutes, you can do that too. Man, I love this place. By now I should know the name of the delivery folks considering how many times they've been to my home. Moved from Campbell to Sunnyvale and was disappointed I couldn't find good Chinese food since 99 Ranch Market is a mile away, but found First Wok on Yelp...BAM, happy ever since. Food is so fresh and tasty. All the "Salt & Pepper" items are awesome. The Won Ton soup is the best ever, even better than the Dumpling places that popped up. The broth is so light and flavorful & the dumplings are like little pillows of yummy stuff, not gummy/chewy. There's even veggies/meat in the plain won ton soup order. Best of all they have a "lite" menu for those days after I devoured half a cow. The best chinese food I ever had was in Rome (yep, Italy..who knew), but First Wok is pretty close. Having been in the Sunnyvale area for the past 2 weeks on business, I decided to venture outside the standard fare of good old fashioned American (burgers, steaks etc) which led me to realise I was really craving Chinese. Being only minutes away from the First Wok, I thought "What could go wrong?". I casually sauntered over from my hotel room and took a look at the menu outside. They had some pictures on the window of their meals, which should have been my first warning, but I continued in, undeterred in my quest for chinese culinary glory. I was faced with a buffet style selection of a few dishes. I was confused at first, because simple things such as General Tso's chicken were clearly mislabeled. The woman behind the counter explained that they were in the process of "Rearranging the food"....right then.... At this point, there was no going back now. She pointed to the sign that said I could have 3 items from the selections in front of me for $9. Lucky me. I opted for the fried rice, which looked good. I then asked if they had any lemon chicken, to which she pointed at two scrawny pieces left in one of the serving vessels. I decided against my better judgement and went for the "Salt and pepper chicken". The moment she picked the chicken up, I realised how dry it looked. It had probably been sitting under the hot light of the buffet counter all day. I cautiously asked what the dish to the right was and was informed it was "honey garlic chicken". It looked like no honey garlic chicken I had ever seen before, but at that stage, I just wanted to get out. Now all this was bad enough, but what happened next really took the cake. I put my card in to pay for my meal, already underwhelmed but wondering if it was one of those ugly meals that looks really bad but tastes awesome. After paying, the lady behind the counter says to me "The food is cold, would you like me to microwave it". Stunned, I kind of shrugged and said she could do so. I got back to my hotel room (literally across the road) and my food was stone cold anyways. I took one bite of the salt and pepper chicken and it was an extremely unappetising colour (See the pictures if you don't believe me). I had had enough at this stage, trashed my meal and wallowed in a pit of sadness and regret. Please heed my word and avoid this if you enjoy hot and delicious food. read more

Was craving for Chinese food and figured to give this place a try based on the other reviews. Place is clean, well organized, plenty of menu entries to choose from. Portions huge -- they fill to-go trays to the last bit of available space. If you mix what you get in the tray with some of your own veggies you have food for 3 easy. And they also include a free soup. All this with a little over $7. Oh and last but not least, food tastes great -- or at least the couple of chicken based choices along with the fried rice I got were really good. read more

The one star is for their customer service. Usually my go-to place for delicious food, but have now had multiple bad experiences with their service which I won't ignore anymore. If you order on a particularly busy night, they are incapable of managing their service for deliveries. They continue to take orders which push them past their promised time frames and lack ability to communicate said delays to customers. After waiting an hour for your delivery, receiving it in an hour and a half is unacceptable. Having to follow up multiple times with delivery service and the restaurant is ridiculous, especially when they are not truthful estimated delivery times. I was first told 10 minutes, then after 20 minutes had passed, was told driver "was at my door." He was not. I then heard running a couple minutes later, then he WAS at my door. Frustrating as this is not the first, second or third time this has happened. Food is great, just beware of their issues. I don't appreciate excuses being dismissed when I'm trying to get my family fed. I'll be looking for an alternative that has their service under control. read more

This places customer service is horrible. You would think during a pandemic you be working extra hard on your customer service skills. I called to check if they changed owners because my food did not taste the same. PAN FRIED noodles are supposed to be crispy and they usually put toppings on side. Today it came all in one container so there was no point in deep frying the noodles because they were soggy from the sauce they put on top. Vegetable "Deluxe" was super blan and over cooked. My chicken tasted old.. so when I called to tell them they hung up on me 2 times.. funny how other people on here have said the same thing right? They offered me a $10.00 credit of my $70.00 purchase, which also included a $6.00 tip after still waiting an hour for my food. Solid, authentic Cantonese styled Chinese food. This is coming from someone who's eaten at many "authentic" Chinese restaurants, including those in Hong Kong. It's not the cleanest place (though it is clean for a Chinese restaurant), making it even more authentic. :) I've never ordered the "Panda Express" style meals at the food line, but they look decent. If you have time, I highly recommend ordering from the kitchen instead, it's cooked up fresh in generous portions. I have had some misses here and there, but the meals are usually pretty solid. One of our favorites is their Hong Kong style pan fried noodles, they are incredibly delicious! Keep in mind, this is not Americanized Chinese food (like Panda Express or P.F. Changs, both of which I love), so set your expectations accordingly! read more
