I've been to this one for 10 or more times since the restaurant opened and every time this happens: The hamburger falls apart. The reason is physics: right after they cook and assemble the hamburger, they wrap the steaming hot hamburger in foil, completely. The trapped steam makes the hamburger buns soggy. So the burger falls apart upon eating. I unwrap the burger as soon as I get it but the damage has already been done. Everytime! Why can't they put the burger in a carton or half-wrap it (like In-n-Out) is anyone's guess. The last time I ate at the restaurant, the restaurant was set so cold (it was only mid-60s at night) that the food became cold (after 15 min) before I could finished eating the gargantuan single serving fries. I'm not sure what all the hype is about....the place doesn't come close to In-N-Out. I could name 10 places off the top of my head with better burgers. The peanuts were good though...The one thing I did enjoy was the way they allowed you to customize your burger from the bottom up without having to tell them what you DON'T on your burger. Apparently there's 2 entries on yelp -- one under "Five Guys" and another under "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" -- should be merged. Went with 2 of my good guy friends -- and we three guys all enjoyed five guys burgers and fries. Five guys, Five stars -- one for each of them. We went knowing that many have compared it to In N Out, so our expectations were reasonably high for a fast food burger place. Bottom line: Five Guys did not disappoint; not necessarily better than In N Out, just different. More of a "homemade"/"homestyle" kind of taste, particularly with all of the toppings available. I can understand why some would say better than In N Out but to me they are simply different styles. Five guys has bigger / heartier burgers that do cost more than In N Out, they come wrapped in foil. For me, the grilled mushrooms were a plus. Remember: a regular burger at Five Guys has 2 patties, a "little burger" has one. Fries were excellent -- a large order is huge, easily enough for 3-4 people. We did take-out and ate at home; my wife came home later and she enjoyed the leftover fries and is now expecting a visit for a burger! Probably gets compared to In N Out because they make burgers with a relatively basic menu (more choices than In N Out because of the toppings) and they emphasize good customer service. The employees also have the team spirit kind of thing going you can also find at Fatburger and some other places -- yelling out things in a nice singsongy way. As mentioned in other reviews, good customer service. Peanuts available to eat, casual atmosphere where you can just throw shells onto the floor. This location was crowded at it just opened and we went at peak lunch hour on a Friday. I had just joined the smartphone revolution and actually used their online ordering while waiting in line! This saved us 10-15 minutes as we got out of line, waited near the pickup area, and our web order was called out by name, perfectly done! This was very convenient. You need to create an account via e-mail and pay by credit card. If you end up loving five guys you can actually name and save your favorite "usual order" for even quicker and more convenient ordering. I would emphasize how good the online ordering system was - -even on a smartphone able to choose all of the topping options. Their receipts clearly show what you've ordered and the burgers are numbered correspondingly to the receipt (with a little sticker on the foil). They seem to have put good thought into planning and running the business, ready for a lot of traffic from the get-go. I anticipate the location will be popular and the immediate parking area will get tight -- it's not the best location, as the shopping center area where they are located is small and not easily visible and accessible in the corner of a shopping center -- it's easiest to come in on Haven going north onto Foothill. If you are coming south on Haven, turn left onto Town Center and then make a right into the shopping center -- this is a little trickier unless you know the area because you are turning into a lane that feeds into the back of the shopping center (near shipping/receiving for Target) and have to wind your way around to get in. But this is the best way, as there's no direct access from Foothill or coming south on Haven. You can get into the shopping center from Foothill - but you have to wind your way around through crowded areas to get to the Five Guys location. Based on the many people there, it will do well -- and thankfully there is plenty of parking right around the corner near Big 5, Target, and Panera. Worth trying and will definitely be back every once in a while -- more often if the food wasn't so bad for you and your heart! :) (see below) And here's your bonus FYI: Five Guys started in Virginia in 1986 by Janie and Jerry Murrell and their four sons-- Jerry and the sons are the original "Five Guys". They had a fifth son two years after opening their first location -- all five sons, the current "Five Guys", are now in the business. A standard double patty burger has 700 calories and 19.5 grams of saturated fat. A standard large order of fries contains almost 1,500 calories (but is said to feed 3-4 people). My husband stopped off at 8:00 to pick up late dinner ordered 2 burgers 2 fries 1 shake got home no burgers just fries mind you we don't live right down the street went back to get the burgers needed new fries because the other ones would be cold by the time he got back with our burgers he came back with fresh food the burgers weren't what he ordered and the shake had malt powder that wasn't dissolved couldn't drink it !! Tried this place out yesterday after hearing all the hype about it possibly being better than in n out..... I am here to say, no way is this place better than in n out! Basically I waited forever to get my food and during this time I was able to watch numerous people coming back up to the counter with their order, opening up their burgers to explain what was wrong with it.. It was a little funny actually how many times it happened. The service was always very nice about fixing the problem. When I finally got my food I had to run back to work so I quickly ate it my car.. It tasted like a good homemade burger, but that's it. It tasted like when u BBQ in your backyard. Which is fine if that's what ur lookin for. I didnt get fries because I was alone and didn't want a huge bag, but I thought almost $7 for the smallest cheeseburger and a small drink this was kinda pricey. I could've gotten a number 1 at in n out instead.. Now for the worst part, after leaving the place I STUNK!!! Seriously stunk!! I had to go back to work and people kept commenting it smelled like fried food in the office ! So embarrassing! Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed as some reviewers said I should be. The food was flavorful and had a generous amount of toppings but it's expensive and takes a while to receive your order. They don't have kid-sized portions and you won't find Ranch or Thousand Island here. The Five Guy Fries are good (same style as In-N-Out but a little thicker cut). My supposedly toasted bun was literally ice cold as if it had been removed from the refrigerator so it instantly gave a bad impression. Did I mention that they serve peanuts? Yep, just like you're at a bar. So beware if you have allergies!! They also have bags of potatoes lating around the perimeter of the store on display but they're kind of in the way to be honest. On the plus side, they have the new touch screen soda machines though. Overall, it was a decent meal and I might give them another try but In-N-Out is just a little farther and is always consistently delicious. read more

I got the regular burger (2 patties) with everything on it with a side of Cajun Fries. Boy, it sure is greasy. The brown to-go bag was stained with grease after just a few minutes. The burger and fries are nothing to write home about. I went to this place the other day with my boyfriend after a recommendation from a friend who said that is was comparable to in-n-out. We were both less than impressed by pretty much everything. There was a line almost out the door, which may be because it just opened, but who knows? It was also very hot inside the restaurant like the air wasn't even on. Once I had a chance to look at the menu I was very disappointed with my lack of options. The menu literally consists of burgers, hot dogs and fries. We ordered a cheese burger, a hot dog and some fries, all of which tasted like something we have made at home many times before. Needless to say we were both disappointed when we ended up paying around 15 dollars for things that we could have gotten for free at home. I do not think that we will be returning because the atmosphere was disappointing and the food was so greasy and overpriced. Sorry 5 guys, just not my style. read more

I love 5 guys! The establishment is always clean. Someone is always wiping tables,taking trash out, or sweeping. I think I've tried everything unless they have a hidden menu. Lately I've been obsessed with the Blt its got lots of bacon! The little cheeseburger is one patty while the cheeseburger is 2. You can get all the toppings you want included in the price or you can tell them "all the way" which includes all topping typed in black. On days I try to "behave" I get the burger in a bowl which doesn't come with a bun. The hot dogs are amazing too and I normally am not a fan. They slice it in half to cook on grill. I love that they started making shakes I've had a few and try a different one each time all have been great so far. You can get all the flavors you want in shake for same price but adding bacon is extra. The french fry serving is huge you can get small regular or large and a small I still share with 1 other person. You can also get the fries regular or cajun style which is a bit more spices added than just salt. read more

Delicious. We came here to eat on a Saturday around lunch time and the line was out the door. They have peanuts to keep people busy while in line. It took about 30 min between our time of arrival and the time our food arrived. It was definitely worth it. The burger was delicious. If you like the taste of homemade burgers, you too will think so. However, if you are a big mac or famous star kind of guy/gal you may wanna think twice. Two patties, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, grilled onions, jalapenos, bbq sauce, pickles, tomatoes, mustard, and hot sauce is what is included in the works. Definitely a different concept than any other fast food burger joint. I really was not a fan of the fries. They were made in peanut oil and i wasnt particularly fond of the flavor. All that said, I will definitely be returning and you should try this place out. It was about 20$ for the two of us (2 burgers, one order of fries, one large drink) so it is pricier than in n out or any other fast food. I am a die hard in n out fan and still cant decide which i like more but this place is definitely one i will be revisiting. read more

ok ok ok people usually dont do this but, im not sure if they have changed cooks or what but i wanted a burger so i went in because the wife refused to turn around and wanted to get home. this was the only place on the way home... fries awesome had a crisp to them and flavor, the burger juicy amazing i couldn't eat all of it and ate the rest of it cold the next morning it was thst good. and they now have shakes didnt have them when they first opened or for a while after (duh a burger joint needs shakes) you can customize it anyway for one price (just like the burgers) shake was suuuper good from now on after working out all week five guys will be my garbage meal for the week... bye bye IN n out!!!! read more

OK, so now we have 5 Guys. Soon we'll probably have another chain from back East somewhere where they know about really good pizza and Chinese food, don't understand Mexican food or Japanese food. In and Out has no competition. No comparison. Yes, 5 Guys has lots of toppings, most of which fall out before getting them into your mouth and invariably make your burger soggy before long. Their fries are good and their drinks are limitless. What I really object to is that when my husband and I ate there recently, we had 2 burgers, one order of fries and 2 small sodas and the check was $20. I'll admit it, the last several years In-n-out hasn't done it for me. The family still likes going there, but i've elected to pass most times. But when i heard about Five Guys a year ago or so, i tried them and now love it. The burger meat simply tastes as if it has truly been hand patted together from ground beef, versus cut from some block or sheet of meat. Yes, all places probably say they are hand made, and i really don't know or care of either in-n-out or Five Guys does or doesn't....the fact remains, i prefer Five Guys. A 'small' is sufficient. Food is good. Not sure why they have to smash the burgers when wrapping them. The music was so bloody loud! Everyone was screaming to have their conversation heard over the music, the considerable kitchen noise and all the other patrons. Music in a restaurant should be in the background. I asked them to turn it down a bit as it was an uncomfortable level for me and I was with someone with hearing impairment who couldn't hear my screamed conversation due to all the noise. They didn't turn it down even a little. We ended up eating outside in the cold. I wrote to the company with my concern. Their reply was they like it like that! It's their ambiance. I'll eat elsewhere where they are more concerned for their guests comfort. I feel sorry for the people working there who must be losing their hearing more each day. read more

I eat here about 3+ times a month. I understand why some may or may not like five guys. For those who are simple(nothing wrong with that) You can still get your burger simple here you choose your topping on your burger or hot dog. I personally try not to eat much meat it upsets my stomach no matter where I eat the meat. yThey also have a veggie burger. Any and all topping are included in price sauteed mushrooms onions bell peppers etc. FYI little burgers aren't little they are just one patty a regular burger is two. ALSO a regular sized fry I can share with 1-2 other ppl. I also love the new coke machines! I personally am there at least twice a week often just for a soda and never had a problem with rude staff or cleanliness. Their bathrooms have always been stocked and cleaned and It seems like constantly someone is changing trash or wiping a table down. I could see where during a big rush they may not get to it right away but I don't see them as non caring high schoolers as one described. I see hard working people. read more

So, I finally had to try this hamburger joint to see what all the hype was all about and if it was truly better than In-N-Out. Plus, I was extremely hungry after falling a million times trying to snowboard. Anyway, I have to say that the burger is good....but that's just about it. It's good. I don't think you can truly compare the taste of this place to In-N-Out because they are not similar at all. But if you had to compare...I felt that it tasted like a homemade burger, well seasoned and not dry but does it have a distinct taste that I will crave...I'm afraid not. I don't know what it is but In-N-Out has a taste that makes you want to go out of your way to get it. Although I will probably eat at this place again...I won't miss it if it started to disappear like the Pink Berry establishments are doing. I must say that it is nice to have choices for toppings on your burger though. Now for the fries, I loved them...but I think that if they added a little bit of salt to the cajun seasoning they would be perfect!!! It's nice that the food seems fresh and homemade but I find the sloppiness of the burgers unappetizing. The fries are flavorful but heavy and soggy. The portions are so large that it just ends up being gross.
