The restaurant itself is very nice. It is located on the river and it has beautiful waterfront views whether you sit inside or outside. I have been a couple times and the food is hit or miss. The pizzas are decent, basically your normal thin crust. Had the fish and chips a while back and they were good, but had them more recently and they were similar to store bought fish from the grocery store. read more

The service here is terrible. The servers, hosts and bartenders no longer have a uniform and wear inappropriate street clothing making it impossible to tell who works there. The hosts were rude to us and blatantly ignored our requests for a specific table. The only reason I come here is because I love the white chicken chili and captain crunch chicken tenders. Beautiful setting with the river running in the background. Chicken chili soup was super tasty and the fried cheese curds delicious. I also had the scallops and steak. Scallops were cooked perfect (like butter) and the orange sauce under them was delicious. Mashed potatoes were a little bland and steak was a little hard to chew due to some fat but otherwise great. Stopped in here on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. We were fortunate enough to get a cozy corner table at the lower level by the window. Waitress was great and friendly. Ordered a mojito and hubby ordered a moscow mule, both were extremely tasty! We ordered the white cheddar cheese curds with ranch to start off with and crab cakes with mango salsa and caper remoulade. WOW those are good! Never had mango salsa before and it was so good, had a balsamic taste to it. Perfect! Hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and that sandwich had such a unique smokey flavor, that was also very tasty, and the BBQ sauce was perfect as well. We will definitely go back and try some other items next time, including the filet and blackened caesar salad. YUM all around! You NEED to go here! read more

First time eating at Fratello's and the atmosphere is very impressive and cozy. Our party of eight ordered a few appetizers and enjoyed the bruschetta, brussel sprouts, and mixed dips. The artichoke and humus were excellent in flavor. The entrees were disappointing after following our great appetizers. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was overcooked with too much charring that made it taste burnt. The mashed potatoes served with the steak were bland and aren't much better than your standard boxed instant potatoes. I also tried the truffle ravioli which was absolutely the best plate I enjoyed during the night. It was well prepared and had a delightful taste. The price of the dishes ultimately left me feeling wanting a bit more in terms of my entree. However, the appetizers and ravioli were good and I would definitely try out Fratellos again. read more

Fratellos restaurant is the bomb here in Appleton. Try the seared ahi tuna pops, BBQ pizza, Mac and cheese, and blackend chicken with raviolis with pesto. Pair with their selection of Fox River beer (like the blueberry ale and Scottish ale) and it makes an even better experience. Add the scenic Fox River and beautiful decor. A must try while in the area. fyi...the paper industry hall of fame (more like a museum) is right next door. read more

This is a "must go" place for lunch in Appleton. But you have to do it in summer when you can sit outside and enjoy the location. White Chicken Chili is pretty good, but that's not something you crave on a warm summer day. read more

Let's go ahead and talk about the location...perfect, and they scored big with this place. An old power plant, beautifully restored into this adorable restaurant. All staff was very friendly, while hostess was sitting other guests the bartender promptly came and brought us to a table. The servers were very knowledgeable of the menu, and how the food actually tastes. I love asking servers at restaurants their favorite drinks, and entree items. I will often order what the suggest. He suggested the cream soda which was AMAZING and I highly recommend trying it. Bread with oil&herb mix is at the table, drinks, and meal came quickly. Our server was very attentive as well. Our table and surroundings all clean. Food was cooked how we asked and was hit and full of love wonderful flavors throughout. LOVE their menu. Even if you do not get a window seat the entire restarunt is beautiful on the inside and their are windows all through. You won't miss the view! read more

Favorite place in Appleton! Beautiful and colorful, lots of glass windows and right on the Fox River...inside brick and exposed steel and concrete. It has a very open feel. Wine is served in an usual decanter, that one of my co-workers ended up purchasing for his place in LA. Made from glass that looks like a funnel that they bring to your table, and when the wine is poured through it, it's forced through a filter-thingy and you can then, with a lever, pour it into your glass. It was cool, and a definite conversation-starter. The food was delish, service a bit slow at times, but it was super busy so forgiven. An array of fish, steaks, and italian dishes to chose from...and nice app's. It's a great place for a date, a small group (business/party)...I look forward to going back one day when visiting back in Appleton. read more

This lovely restaurant sits right on the Fox River. I sat at a table by the window and watched the water rushing past and the ducks swimming by, it was beautiful! We happened to go in for Restaurant Week, which was lucky. A three course lunch for $13! I had the coconut shrimp, the beef brisket tacos and the chocolate cake. All of my food was amazing! The shrimp were piping hot with a delicious sauce. The tacos had an excellent beef brisket inside them that was juicy and flavorful. The chocolate cake was very dense, moist and delicious. TL:DR. Food was under seasoned and was okay at best (Bam Bam Shrimp appetizer was very good). This review is mostly for the restaurant staff for improvements, because I know the industry is challenging and it seems like they could do better just missed this night. My husband and I ate here on 07/02/23. We sat on the patio and the service was great, the view of the river was nice, but most of the food was disappointing. The Bam Bam Shrimp appetizer was amazing, but unfortunately the entrees did not live up to the same expectation. I had the Truffle Shrimp Carbonara and the sauce seemed a bit thin, more of a cream sauce than an egg gloss, but mostly it was bland. For having pancetta I was surprised to find it was as if there was no salt. I could see the pancetta, but couldn't taste it. The shrimp were seasoned, but the sauce and dish over all was not. My husband had the Lobster Roll and the butter toasted bread tasted better than the filling. The lobster was fresh and I liked that it wasn't an overkill of mayo, but again no seasoning. It needed a touch of salt and ideally acid. With the leftover lemons brought out from our water we were able to make it wake up and be something tasty. If you are going to suggest the caliber of restaurant your location and menu (and pricing) suggests, you should deliver on the basics before adding layers of conplexity. read more

Great atmosphere and views from the riverfront. We had good service on the terrace and the food was very good. I had the cajun pizza. While I wish the andouille sausage was a little spicier, I realize I'm in Wisconsin and not Louisiana. It still had great flavor. And the crust was excellent. read more

My wife and I consider this place a staple of ours since before we were married! This past time was brilliant. Our server was great; he would always check on us and was not afraid to give us recommendations for what to try. I got the fish fry for the first time, and I'd have to say, that was the best one I have had for the price point; I'm usually disappointed by portions of these for the price, but I was everything but disappointed with this one. The amount of truffle fries you get (which are brilliant as well) was also a generous portion as well. This will continue to be a favorite of mine and my wife's! PS: we hope they will bring brunch back... their brunch menu was brilliant back in the day! read more

This was a beautiful setting and venue. We ate in the bar area and everything was really good. Drinks were fresh, fun and delicious. There was a good variety of choices on the menu, each with their own little twist to make them fun and interesting. My friend had a burger cooked MW, unfortunately it had to be sent back. Instead of cooking a bit longer, they prepared an entirely new burger. My grilled chicken sandwich was cooked to perfection. Both had unique toppings and came with delicious fries. I have been to this restaurant many times. Since the reopening, they now have an Italian themed meme. Tonight I visited with 2 business colleagues from out of town. Made an OpenTable reservation and asked for a window table because it is a beautiful outdoor and indoor setting. We were treated to just that. Service was impeccable. Food just as much so. I had the Tuscan Salmon entree. Beautiful salmon filet atop green beans, asparagus, mushrooms, potatoes, pancetta and a light sauce. Delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. It is located right along the water in a unique building with a beautiful bar, high ceilings, and a view of the river. It was bright inside and had a very modern vibe. The menu offered many different selections. On our visit we had salads and burgers and appetizers and everything we ate was delicious. I found the location to be beautiful. The bar would be a fun place to enjoy a drink and conversation, with or without having dinner. We will return. read more

You would think that this fancy expensive waterfront restaurant with all the ambience and cool menu items would be worth the money. And yet, after visiting several times, I haven't been relieved of my initial disappointment. While the location is nice and the building itself is beautiful, the food is average. Additionally, being one of Appleton's token "fancy restaurants", you would think they would expect birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events to take place there quite often. And yet, when I went for the first time and took a friend for their birthday, I never planned on mentioning it or saying anything, but our server noticed it was his birthday when she checked his ID for a cocktail order. She wished him a happy birthday and it was a kind little moment, we weren't trying to make a big deal out of it so that was appreciated in itself. But after our meal, they brought out what I think you could call chocolate cake? Again, not asked for and should be appreciated simply for the gesture, right? Except this cake looked like it had been poured out of a can and had green icing slabbed on one section of the top like a child had finger painted it on. Of course we said thank you and politely took a bite but we couldn't help but laugh in the car after we left. Not sure if this "birthday cake" is just some inside joke only the staff understands or what but it was odd to say the least for one of the nicer restaurants in town to have such a mangled dessert. read more

We are here for Mother's Day. They have six options and you came make NO modifications. Can't even leave cheese off the only omelette they offer. The steak (tenderloin) in the steak and egg offeris only offered as medium. The waitress stated this is so the kitchen can "get food out fast" but it is just not that busy. We ordered steak & poached eggs (again no option on how they were cooked) and the chicken & waffles. They did try to cook the steak med rare for my husband but the poached eggs were way over cooked. The chicken tenders were good but the waffles (which did not come with butter) were cold and tasted like coffee cake. The manager did come and ask about our meal and we told him we were not impressed overall. He again said they can't make any modifications to help the kitchen. Apparently the kitchen staff is more important than customers. Perhaps they are understaffed. If that is the case then don't take as many reservations. ( still was not very busy when we left). We were not charged for the chicken & waffles but even still we will not go back. read more

Be sure to go on a Friday to get the clam chowder. It's the best I've ever had, and I've been to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. It is dense with lots more goodies, such as more clam, potatoes, celery, and bacon than other restaurants put in their clam chowder. That's what sets this one apart from the others and makes it the best. The proportionately high amount of clam makes it especially satisfying. Other than that, I just want to mention that on a favorable weather day, you'll get a better view here than you'll get at any other restaurant in Appleton. It protrudes out into the Fox River with enormous picture windows, offering a close-up of the dam in action. That's because this was once the Atlas Paper Mill, which was built in 1878. So, the restaurant offers not only delicious food with a gorgeous view to compliment, but also a historic atmosphere as well. read more
