Appetizer salad was nice and tangy. Tagliatelle was delicious. My big issue was with the eclair dessert. It wasn't necessarily hard, but it was hard enough that I couldn't cut it with a knife. And the bottom was also coated in the coffee sauce base, so I didn't want to pick it up either. Eventually I used utensils, but it was a mess. Tasted great though. My partner and I came here for dinner the night before Valentine's Day. Perfect because it was totally empty. Calm before the storm. Service was fantastic. It's clearly intended to be an upscale, romantic experience. We were seated immediately, and my only qualm is the cold draft that's let into the restaurant every time the main door is opened. The food was delicious! We started with Pan Seared Scallops with lobster cream and caviar, which are making my mouth water as I write this. I love how many pescatarian-friendly options there are. We shared the Potato Crusted Icelandic Cod with baby manila clam chowder, as well as the Sautéed Barramundi with buttered spinach and smoked trout roe emulsion. Both were quite tasty. I would order them again. As far as fancy restaurants in Denver go, this wasn't my all-time favorite but definitely enjoyable and worth giving a shot. There tends to be a decent amount of reservation availability, so make sure to do that in advance. You might have to walk a bit after parking in this neighborhood depending on the evening. Arrived into Fruition Restaurant on a Thursday evening and it wasn't very crowded. A small, cozy, and intimate space with great service. The cocktails were a limited menu but we enjoyed our drinks. To start we got the pan seared scallops, yellowtail crudo, bison carpaccio. The scallops were amazing as was the bison! Honestly everything was tasty. For an entree we got the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and barramundi. The barramundi was incredible! We also got a chocolate pot de creme to enjoy. I will say for 3 people, I'm not sure that anyone of us left stuffed. Note, they add a 20% surcharge onto the bill which is in lieu of tip. read more

We came here on a Saturday date night. It's a small, cozy space for small groups or couples. I wish they had an outside patio. The service was friendly and attentive, at times a bit uncoordinated, and lacked some attention to detail. The food was overall good, but I feel like the chef is playing it safe, and the food could use some inventiveness or more creativity. The Icelandic Cod 'Beignets' were nice, salty, well-executed and crispy. Rocky Ford Melon was a fun, light, and summery dish. It's a bit hard to share because of the sauce so you need a spoon to eat it. The Veal Sweetbreads Scallopini were a total miss. The way they were prepared made them tough and chewy, instead of the buttery, light texture they have. White Shrimp Agnolotti was great, I could easily do this as a main course. It tasted like Italy. Well-executed textures, nice flavor, and plating. Pan Roasted Scallops were also a miss. While the scallops were very well cooked, the dish did not come together. The corn was not a great fit, the mushrooms were bland, and could not see them, and the crispy prosciutto didn't come together. If they keep changing up the menu, I would love to come here again, but the menu is pretty small. I like the daily or weekly menu style restaurants, otherwise coming back has less appeal. read more

This place had been on our list forever and going tonight made me bummed we haven't been going for years. Incredibly delicious. Service was wonderful, felt like we were welcomed into someone's home. The food was amazing. Got the fried mushroom slider which seriously tasted like a fried chicken slider. The cauliflower flavor profile was elite. The lamb shank was melt in your mouth. And the lemon meringue tasted nostalgic. The wine was all really refined as well and the prices cracked me up with their $12.12 and $15.15 matching numbers. Came here for the New Year's Eve 5 course menu to bring in the new years. We have always enjoyed the ambiance here because it's a warm and brightly lite. Wish there was more room but hey, nbd. I don't like sitting next to people where I can hear their whole conversations. It's just weird to me. First came out was this oyster and caviar with crème fresh. Light and salty little bite. Then the fennel and grapefruit salad. Tart and salty. I enjoyed the pistachios in that little sucker. The risotto followed and my husband says it was cooked well. I honestly don't know how the heck it's supposed to be cooked. Low key reminded me of thick porridge. It tasted good though. Next, the scallops came. This, was a delight. I would eat a bag of these MFers if I could. I heard multiple people saying this was the best part. Then came the steak. It had a good crust on it. I like steaks like that. From now on, I would like a steak crust. lol finally, to round it off- the lemon meringue. You definitely get that lemon. Pew pew. Overall, delightful. Service was good. Seven years ago, my partner and I visited this place for my birthday. Yesterday, we finally made our way back--and holy cow it was extraordinary. I love the cozy, warm vibe of Fruition and the unpretentious, devastatingly delicious dishes they put out. We ordered most of their starters and small plates and were thrilled with each one. Was the star of the show the bright, beautifully balanced snapper en escabeche? Maybe definitely yes, but every other dish was a close, and often whimsical, second. Try the delightfully crunchy maitake mushroom slider, the fresh textural kohlrabi Caesar, the nuanced swordfish on toast, the lovely briny oysters, and the unctuous spaghetti alla chitarra, as well. Then complete the stuffing of your face with gooey chocolate chip cookies and a refined lemon meringue. The new Coat of Arms cocktail was also excellent. If there's one thing Fruition does, it's impress the pants off us (this reaction is recommended for later in the evening after leaving the restaurant). read more

Pretty cozy small upscale restaurant. No parking lot & some free street parking. Very cozy atmosphere and romantic vibe with average noise level. Our server gave us such ab above and beyond experience. We were a bit cold as the entrance door wasn't too far from us, and she brought us shawls for us to keep warm. Fruition used to be one of our favorite spots in Denver though I'm not sure if that's the case anymore... Still leaving four stars because it is a great establishment overall and the service is top notch. You do feel well taken care of and the servers are very attentive. The ambiance is good though the building is old, insulation not great, and it's a tiny spot so each time the door opens for a customer going in or out you can feel the cold breeze in the winter which to me is unpleasant because I do get cold easily... What has changed I feel like is what I'm going to name as the excitement factor in the food. Our experience coming here over the last few years has been more and more disappointing every time unfortunately. The food is still good but it's not excellent like it used to be... At least that's how we feel. Maybe I'm expecting too much because I know how great they used to be. The food now feels... Average in some cases. This is especially true for main entrees - appetizers tend to honestly be better then entrees in most instances we've been here over the last few years and even those are sometimes one note or maybe they have too much sauce or just... the balance is off. And nothing feels special. The first time we'd come to fruition back in 2018 the food was just top notch - each food item had varying levels of flavors and surprising elements and was so worth the cost. But we haven't felt that way about the food at fruition in a very long time... In their most recent menu we felt like the coconut rice pudding was the best dish - our entrees were not great, especially the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon - it just tasted of smoke and salt and that was about it. The appetizers had either too much sauce or just weren't as flavorful or felt overcooked. At any rate, I think if you're new to Denver or haven't tried fruition it's definitely still worth a visit because you might enjoy it. We just don't anymore so we won't be back. read more

What a cool restaurant. We were running late, and phoned to say that --no problem Fruitions hostess, Tara, accommodated us. Once we arrived, she greeted us warmly, showed us to our table and provided our choice of water. This was an incredible warm, nice and welcoming first impression that lasted throughout the meal. Our server Nate knew the menu and he knew how to proved superb service from recommendations, to timing each course to arrive at the right time. The food was extraordinary. The mushroom slider, is apparently a mainstay and on the menu for over 10 years. I can see why --it was crispy, sweet, savory, spicy and warm on that soft brioche bun. The swordfish schnitzel with rock shrimp was an inspired work of art. Delicious, savory, rich and filling. The wine menu is well done, with some great wine by the glass selections. First impression: when we arrived on time for our reservation, they said they could not seat us because the previous table was still eating their desserts. I never had this happen at any of the other fine dining establishments I've been to. We were delayed by about 10-15 mins. We decided to skip the tasting menu after reading through reviews. Service was about 4.5/5. I ordered the hot tea. It was pretty good. Warns you up. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, and one dessert. -Fried maitake slider 5/5 - after the first bite I was impressed and quickly devoured it. All of the flavor and ingredients came together nicely. -Veal sweetbread scallopini 3/5 - so the meat was tender to cut and it was good. The problem was it was overly salted. It kind of reminds me of the Jewel Osco brand sausage (overabundance of salt that you need to drink water after each bite). -Sweet potato agnolotti 5/5 - highly recommended. No complaints. -Slow cooked duck presse 1/5 - I love duck but this was the only one I could not finish. This was a total miss. Taste wise, is similar to a pate and could be eaten with crackers or bread. By itself, it's like putting a spoonful of salt in your mouth. This dish should definitely have a piece of bread to go along with it. -Sauteed Barramundi 4.5/5 - sea bass was very flaky. The sauce pairs well with the fish and smoked trout roe. -Lemon meringue pie 5/5 - I love the dessert. Wasn't too tart. Overall, it's about a 3.5/5 for me. Cute little place in Capitol Hill (Gov's Park area). Real date night vibes with this one. The service was great and set at a slow tempo. That is to say, it felt like they were giving us ample time with the menu and between courses rather than it being slow/inattentive service. We came here on a Friday night with a reservation (which they do charge a hold fee that immediately was credited back to me after we went) for my partner's birthday. They gave us a little champagne toast for him and even replaced his with a nonalcoholic pour since he doesn't drink- nice touch! The food was super delicious and beautifully plated. We had the smoked trout and latkes, which I will say wasn't my favorite because I'm not a huge fan of pate style smoked fish, but the latkes were incredible! I had the striped bass, which was a perfect portion, cooked impeccably and very flavorful! I only didn't love the charred artichokes- a bit too burnt for me, but it honestly didn't matter because the rest of that dish was stellar! My partner's scallops were melt‐in-your-mouth delicious and I would gladly have eaten them all if he wasn't into them. Unfortunately, he found them just as delightful as I did so I only got a couple of bites! ;) Our dessert was also very good. They gave him a little candle with it, which was sweet. We proceeded to devour the chocolate pot de creme. I also had a mezcal old fashion that was surprisingly mild in flavor, but tasty nonetheless! Fruition is always an amazing, intimate experience. Their space may be simple but their service and dishes are not. Such attention to detail. Their Restaurant Week menu did not disappoint. For the first course I selected the cod beignets with saffron aioli and trout roe. A beautiful, colorful plate full of flavor. For the second course, we decided to split the pork chop and the wild mushroom risotto. Both were amazing but the layers of umami in the risotto must be noted. There were multiple types of mushrooms cooked to perfection in a creamy risotto, topped with black truffle and Parmesan cream. I could eat this dish every day if they would make it for me. The perfect dinner was finished with a lemon meringue. Tangy lemon custard with just the right amount of sweet in the meringue topping. Awesome food with nice presentation. Okay but not amazing service. Good for dates! We did the fixed menu, and we added the Partake (non alcoholic beer), a sparkling wine, Ruby port, and the chocolate torte. First course was 3 bites of Amuse Bouche. The first bite was a yuzu yellowtail (dullest of the 3, too salty). The second bite was a butter squash tempura; it has amazing crunch and flavor. Just enough to make you want more. The last bite was my personal favorite: a veal tartar. Great chewy texture and such umami taste. The second course was scrambled egg with asparagus and leafy greens, topped with a piece of deep fried prosciutto and crunch cheesy bits. The scrambled eggs were a bit too salty, but nonetheless it was amazing together. The prosciutto was the highlight: crunchy, salty, aromatic, umami, and flavorful. The dish overall has a good balance of freshness and taste. Truly an appetizer! The third was seared scallops with porridge-like rice and pepper-flavored sauce. The scallops were done very well, tender and just barely cooked through in the middle. It highlights the freshness and a bounciness, not overly cooked at all. The porridge-like rice did well to accompany the scallops to bring out the sweetness of the scallops and the seared flavors. The red pepper flake sauce was alright but split the table: while I thought it was okay, my partner thought it reminded him of elementary school pizza. We both think that a more traditional creamy, wine or mushroom sauce might be better. The final savory course (sadly) was the polenta with lamb. The lamb was very well cooked, medium rare with flavorful, almost-crunch exterior but tender and bouncy chew on the inside. The pieces had awesome lamb flavor and a good amount of fat. Portion was great as well, just enough but not to tempt you, leaving you wanting more. The polenta (usually we dislike) was creamy and the spinach within it still had it crunch. Amazing dish overall. The default dessert was the lemon meringue. Not a fan of lemon usually, so this was alright, especially given how sour and sweet this was. It was so sweet and sour that this made the ruby port tastes like a normal red wine. Instead we much enjoyed the chocolate torte. I wish we had a choice there! The drinks are all very good. The staff gave great recommendations or the menu just didn't have bad options. Either way, our tongue enjoyed this dining experience. Service can be better, with the staff doing just enough such that this was still okay experience. Drinks service was pretty slow, especially since all the drinks required only pouring from a bottle (not cocktails). Overall, pretty exceptional food and drink and an overall good dining experience in a romantic setting. Would recommend! read more

We tried Fruition finally during restaurant week. Overall the food was excellent quality and the service was top notch. They were very patient and accommodating with us and our infant. The portions for restaurant week was understandably very small so even though I don't eat a lot at baseline I was not remotely full at the end of my meal. I enjoyed a light salad for the small plate, lamb for the entree (two small but very tender and perfectly cooked slivers), and a lemon meringue dessert. I also enjoyed the non-alcoholic beer (or should I say 0.3% alcohol haha). The food was simple but perfectly cooked. If you enjoy high quality food and don't care about having anything particularly exciting or unique then I very much recommend trying Fruition. Fruition, like so many other exquisite Denver eating establishments, was slighted by the Michelin Guide's fraught visit at the end of 2023. Fruition deserves, at least as much as all of the Mentioned and the Bib Gourmand locations, to be on the list. And perhaps they deserve it even more than the rest. The ambiance is always, always warm, welcoming, and cozy. One of the things that I love about Fruition is its small, familial dining room. The staff greet all comers with enthusiasm. As they should - their product is excellent. After relieving us of our coat, we are sat beside the window in the little seating gallery between the kitchen and the main dining room. This is now my preferred place to sit. Bridget, our server, was splendid. Her knowledge of the menu, her thoughtful suggestions, and her attention to our needs - before they were even fully formed - is testament not only to her skill and her expertise, but also to the standards that Fruition maintains for the experience of its guests. Get the Chestnut Agnolotti. Get it. Get it a dozen times and you will need it still. Of everything that I've eaten in this city for the past three months, this is by far the most complete, sensuous, sumptuous experience that I've tasted. It is a small dish, unassuming and unimposing. I'm a meat eater myself, and its inclusion as a meatless option does it no favors. It is, in a word, magnificent. The root vegetable "veloute" is a creamy, fluffy, light and ephemeral sauce that I've not seen parallelled in this city. The pillow-like pasta cushions filled with chestnut and vegetables melt in the mouth. The experience is at once striking and wholly unsatisfying - I want more. I wanted more, and I would have gotten more had we not already ordered the other things we'd been awaiting. All of them were divine. But this was on a different plane entirely. The Slow Cooked Duck "Presse" on creamed lentils was splendid. I've grown up with lentils, though never had them creamed. And creamed is the way that lentils best are served, I'm certain now. The ducky buttons were perfectly firm, the sauce a delightful compliment, and the thin garnish a beautiful touch. The Kohlrabi Salad is simple, pleasant, and satisfies that need that we all have for a turnipy/radishy/rooty thing in our lives. Very nice. And the entree of Sauteed Barramundi did not disappoint. I'm always hesitant to eat fish in Denver, save for at a few select sushi restaurants. This might be the result of having grown up out here and understanding the limitations of the seafood scene until recent years. But for whatever reason, I tend to shy away from it. Yet this was marvelous. Firm, flaky, moist, glitteringly presented with the trout roe emulsion. I couldn't have asked for a better dinner. But the Agnolotti .... I'll be back for that. Drinks: the absolute favorite of the night was the mulled margarita (which is not warm but rather spiced). I love a good margarita and this is one of the best I've ever had. Appetizers: I really enjoyed the yellowtail which I thought hit a nice balance between creamy and bright. The others in my party weren't as impressed with the yellowtail. The falafel was great but nothing unexpected. Main course: the steak and potatoes for 2 were just the right portion size for us with a bit left over since I don't eat a lot. The steak and potatoes were perfectly cooked, and the potatoes especially were exceptional! Our party thought the $96 was worth it just for the potatoes alone, but the steak was also delicious. Dessert: we tried the lemon meringue which was great for anybody who loves this dessert, but it was a little too tart for me. The pot de crème chocolate was rich and creamy, and the rice pudding was my favorite of the night for its uniqueness. It had interesting textures and was refreshingly light after a heavy meal. Had the chance to get a late reservation on a Saturday so it was not too busy. The meal was timed perfectly, and eleivered expertly. The entire staff (I believe we met the entire front of house staff) we're absolutely incredible; knowledgeable, friendly, and well informed about the food. They're constantly changing their menu with the season, so ask your server what is good at the moment; they should be able to steer you in the right direction. No complaints across the board. I hate beets. They made a believer out of me. And their rabbit, lamb, and beef dishes were out of this world. I talked to many of the chefs there, and learned that their new Executive Chef is from French Laundry. I can't wait to see some of his items on the menu. Seriously surprised they didn't win any James Beard awards yet. They're very deserving of one. If you're a fan of a fresh, farm grown, vegetable forward menu, Fruition is the place to go to! We decided to go with the chef's tasting menu, for it was promised to be a whole different array of dishes that were not on the menu. It was indeed a pleasant surprise! I'll only deduct one star for the steak being too salty, but every other plate was mouth watering good. They have perfectly sized portions, an intimate setting with a very French ambience, and the food is innovative and bold. Will be back on our next Denver trip! read more

Ambiance and cuisine are amazing here! I went there for my birthday dinner and was super impressed from the moment I walked in the door. It didn't feel pretentious either but more like I walked into someone's house to have dinner in their warm and inviting dining room with low lighting. The service was flawless too. The parent restaurant to Mercantile at Union Station. This is your Colorado staple and farm to table. They opened the first artisan sheep cheese farm that supplies Fruition w/ all these goodies. Things to Note: 1) Small intimate restaurant. Large groups might be hard, since this restaurant is cozy/tight with your neighbors. 2) Always get something with the Sheep Cheese! Gnocchi & Cheese! 3) Reservations are generally a must 4) Older/less trendy crowd. More formal than Mercantile. 5) Favorite Dish is the Duck and Short Ribs 6) Wonderful/exceptional service 7) Vodka tomato cocktail is a winner! 8) Ignore the Desserts. My cake was dry. So disappointed in a restaurant of this quality. Overall - my appetizers and entrees were cooked perfectly and inventive. I would come back just for the duck, but pass on the desserts. Finally made it in to check out Fruition and we're not disappointed. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and the staff made special note. To start we shared the Fried Maitake Slider, which was interesting and delicious. Definitely a must try. We also shared the Tuna Carpaccio, which was delicious as well. For dinner, we shared the Duck Agnolotti and Chicken. The Madeira sauce with the duck agnolotti was unreal delicious. For dessert, we had the Profiteroles and Lemon Meringue Pie. Our favorite was the profiterole. As far as ambiance, the place was cozy and fresh feeling and felt approachable. One thing we were a little confused about, was the 20% added for "operations" and they said you can tip "if you want to". This non-standard charge made It super unclear how much of this money the staff received, which made it confusing if we should in fact tip or not. Out of town visitors, we were assured by dear Denver friends that the ling drive to Fruition would be worthwhile. Doubtfully, at about 6 pm on a Friday night we entered this well lit buzzing room to claim our reservation. The cheerful, professional maître d' ushered us to our table and immediately doubts began to melt. Our knowledgeable, friendly server deftly solicited requests for cocktails and wine, and we were very quickly comparing revies amongst ourselves as to who got the tastiest libation. The foamy gin offering was amazing! The wine ipad list was indeed well-curated, reasonably priced as a Favi Viognier was delightful with our first course. The truffle, morel Angliotti was, well, something better than lusciously stupendous. The slider is a carnivorous delight, the Spring Salad greatly pleasing the herbavores among us. For a main courses, a Willamette Valley Chardonnay a brethren Pinot provided magnificent accompaniment. The duck breast stuffed with confit was terrific, the halibut succulent, and the chicken very worthy. The swordfish seemed lightly breaded and sauteed, which surprised, maybe disappointed, two of us, but lying on a bed of homemade tartar sauce (not what they called it) w fresh frisée topping it was quite good. The desert we shared was the lemon meringue and we had plenty of spoons and not enough meringue. The after dinner drink menu was robust and we particularly liked the en solera aged Jerez wowed those who partook. Fruition is a must for any special night for foodies and oenophiles, and we left feeling as if we had new friends... the kind and conscientious servers, beverage manager and maitre d'. read more

Went on valentines and I must say, I felt more warmth from one of the waiter waving at me with a smile through the window as we were walking away on 6th than the entire service. Maybe the day was too cold for other staff to give anything other than. Food was... expected... not mind blowing such as from the past. Maybe the best years had left FR.
