If i'm looking for seafood this is my go to spot, yeah it's a bit far from oakland but if i need fresh seafood this is the place to go. I dont know why this place is only getting ok ratings maybe it's because your not GETTING WHAT THEY ARE GOOD AT. which is seafood. If thats what they are known for? go and get it. I haven't tried their dimsum but i would probably guess other places are better. But seafood like Steamed shrimp (24/lb) or Lobster (15/lb) and fish usually north of $20/lb are the things to get. Came here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly crowded. We were seated quickly and began to check-out the menu. We ordered the Honey Glaze Prawns, Braised Tofu with Tender Greens, Peking Spare Ribs, 1/2 order of Fried Chicken and their House Fried Rice. Portions were good sized. I enjoyed the Honey Glaze Prawns and Braised Tofu. Service was decent, but it took awhile to get our bill. Still need to try their dim sum. read more

Our family love to eat at Fu Lum Moon with our friends. The seafood is always fresh and well prepared. They keep their fish and seafood alive in the tanks as you walk in. We love the elephant clam with pumpkin deep fried. The crab dishes are also excellent when they are in season. The live shrimp is also a good choice, served with spicy soy sauce). The restaurant is big enough to host birthday celebration. It is usually not busy during the week nights, but reservation is recommended if you have a larger party on weekends. The waiters are attentive and helpful. The restaurant has been around for a long time (always a good sign) so the decoration is a bit dated. It is a good place to try out good Chinese seafood if you are around the neighborhood. read more

Probably the worst service ever especially how rude they were to my parents when we ordered. We've come here for dim sum before but we went for lunch here another time and the food we ordered was enough for 5 people. The waiter made a snarky remark that we're ordering a lot of food ("enough for a wedding"). My dad got super mad and we hurried to finish our meal, paid, and left. Nestled between the 880 exit ramp and eight hundred eighty furniture stores, you will find Fu Lam Moon. I told my Chinese friend that we were going to eat at Fu Lam Moon, and she didn't know what I was talking about because, apparently, in Mandarin it's pronounced Fu Ling Men. I assume their English translation is based of a Cantonese pronunciation, but I wouldn't blame them for changing the name to be less about fooling men. Anyway, my family often comes here for dim sum. Service was pretty good today. One of the waitresses went out of her way to bring us multiple plates that weren't on her cart. I would say quality is a-ok. Price is probably ok, too. Otherwise, I don't think my parents would choose to keep coming back here. Actually, this place is decent. I wouldn't give it 1 star like so many other people. I would give it more stars if it weren't for the occasional fly that circles our table (every time we come here...). Makes me wonder about the sanitary conditions behind the scenes. Be sure to come before 2pm, because by then, the kitchen stops making more food. You'll just see the same cart with the same dishes rolling out. Service on the other hand prevents me from going there very often. The waiter will ignore your request for water. Once I sat there for 30 min trying to get someones attention because i wanted ice water. Service is horrible. Its like you owe the waiter something. They dont even say anything to you. Despite being in an industrial looking area and walking into a tiny cramped lobby filled with dirty looking tanks of swimming seafood, I was pleasantly surprised to actually enjoy my food. We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here done in standard Chinese banquet style. The most memorable dishes were the sweet and sour beef (so tender and the sauce was authentic sweet and sour, none of that disgusting red crap) and Buddah's delight which was well flavored. The walnut shrimp was pretty good too. I thought the best was the crab though. Great flavor and you are grateful suddenly for those dirty tanks by the front door. The waiters worked really hard at changing out our plates and giving glasses for the bottle of cognac we brought in. Walking out, we saw everyone had huge platters of giant prawn and almost every table was filled. Judging by the great meal we had, this was definitely a hidden gem of a place that's very popular with the local crowd. read more

I don't know why I haven't reviewed this place but I've been going here for quite a while. I usually end up here between brunch/lunch for dimsum. They have a great selection and even carry stuff that are more traditional like tripe and chicken feet (although, I'm not a big fan of it). I do prefer their pork siumai (sp?) over other dimsum places i've tried in the area. As with other reviewers, I also like the fried shrimp ball. The tofu is hit or miss sometimes but I like the fact that you can also order outside of the regular dimsum items. Try the pan fried seafood noodles and you'll see why I gave this place four stars. For dinner, I've had some of their lobster specialties (I'm sorry I forgot what they called it but it had scallops, prawn, mushrooms, water chestnuts, some veggies and topped with a light clear sauce) and I have to say it was worth the price. If you order stuff off the menu, it can get pricey but the chef also gets creative. Try the steamed fish or the crab for starters. I would give this place a 5 out of 5 if the decor... but really, you can ignore that part. read more

Ive been to really expensive and big dim sum places where they have wedding parties, but this place is good! They may not be the clean but they are good! Prices are VERY good. Especially if you go during 11am or 12 for lunch, any later, you get old/cold stuff. Im not sure about the price but i think its like a $1-$2 or something.\ if you go early. I really love the dim sum here. It is about ten dollar per person for the two times I ate there. I usually get the porridge which is a bit on the light side. The Shrimp ricesticks which I love. The BBQ pork buns are great for filling up your stomach. The shrimp dumpling is really good here. The wrapping is soft and the filling is nicely seasoned. The egg tart was warm and had a light egg taste. Really great pastry. A place to try if you want dim sum and in the area! :D read more

Horrible. Do not go to this place. The food is below mediocre bordering on gross and sure the prices arent bad but you get what you pay for. There are always extremely long lines with a beligerant crowd trying to get seated first. And to top things off the service is the worst. I have never been to a place where you consistently get horrible service. But time after time this place continues to amaze me. Only reason I came here more then once is friends family insisted we come. For example: My gf (Chinese who doesnt speak) and I (white guy) are eating our food. Table next to us tells the waiter can we got some hot sauce like them ( points to us). Waiter looks at us grabs our hot sauce gives it to them and walks away. In their heads problem solved. Guess they only value certain customers. After that we tell them to bring us our check and we pay, they say we cant pay with card because its under 20 dollars and say we must pay cash. We went dim sum again. M-F special, the $ 2.00 freshly steamed clam (the big one). Very good and extremely low priced. Regular at Mayflower price is $ 6.00. Very delicious! Came here for dim sum with some friends on a Sunday morning. The place was starting to fill up, but we got seats right away. Once seated, we were offered a few items, which was a plus, but no tea, something we had to ask for. The food were in kinda big portions, but didn't taste fantastic good, but was decent. My boyfriend's grandfather had his birthday held at this restaurant. Several tables were filled of his family and guests but it was a nice time. The restaurant does't really stand out to me compared to other family Chinese establishments but the food is pretty good. I don't know exactly what was ordered but I ate only what I could eat since I ate somewhere else before getting there. -house soup (simple and good) -duck in a steamed bun (yum!) -honey walnut shrimp (terrible for you no matter where you go but so good) -stir fried beef in a little wok (the little wok is so freakin' adorable and the meat is juicy) The duck was my favorite and we took the rest home to eat for later. My 100th review on Yelp!!!!! My family and I used to eat at Fu Lam Moon every Sunday since their seafood is so fresh! We don't eat here as often anymore but when we do, the usuals we get are still as tasty as ever! How do you know the fish is fresh? Because they catch it right in front of you and cook it right away! You can even pick the fish out of the tank if you want to (I've done this on countless occasions and it's quite fun). The live shrimp (to be eaten with a slightly spicy jalapeno soy sauce) is delicious, as well as the assorted steamed fish (our favorite is the Asian style rock cod), clay pot pork, steamed kai-lan (or Chinese broccoli) with black bean sauce and peking duck. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the dishes! But my favorite part about Fu Lam Moon is the noisy and family-friendly atmosphere. Since it's run by a family itself, they really appreciate families coming out and having dinner parties here. They also host weddings on the occasional weekend so make sure to call ahead to see if the restaurant's booked for the weekend! What can I say, Fu Lam Moon is your friendly, neighborhood restaurant that knows how to cook and serve fresh seafood to hungry families. All the dishes are served family-style so it's not really a prime spot to go for a date, more like a place to take your grandparents for Sunday dinner. This place really isn't all bad. I just don't like it. Their dim sum is extremely limited and we used to go here because it was 1.50 a place or something like that. They tend to be stingy with the plates that normally go for higher prices during dim sum such as the ha cheung or whatever with shrimp in it. For example, they'd only have four or five of them and it goes quick. We went here before because it was one of the few places in this area of Fremont that serves dim sum. They're also quite shady with their advertising. Once we came because they were offering 1/2 off after a certain time and we got back from somewhere at about midnight and stopped by. When we ordered we found out that you can only get that if you have dimsum in the morning and if you order a certain amount you get some voucher for it but of course that's not explained; they might have it in tiny, unreadable handwriting in Chinese somewhere that I didn't see. That's Chinese marketing for ya! haha Anyways, I just don't like the place because of a combination of experiences, the food isn't so great, the decorations are tacky/scary. They have these fake giant crabs and lobsters hanging on the wall that I just find weird. Anyone else think so? I give it two stars because it's not the worst I've been to. read more

Me (mostly myself), my sister and on a rare occasion, our mother would come here once in a while for Dim Sum. When you get here, don't expect to be seated right away, especially weekends when they serve dim sum. That's how busy they are. Whenever we come for dim sum, the service is prompt and the carts are readily available to what items we want. The items are delicious! Great selection of dim sum (no sticky rice [not the one that comes in a taro leaf], the one that's served on a glass bowl and taken out of). We came here for my brother's b-day instead of our traditional King Crab. We have been here before...roughly 2 years ago. At that time, it was rather unappealing to dine at FLM. The floors were dirty, the furnishings were old and looked like it was ready to give, the walls were filthy and undecorated. Fast forward 2 years...I walk in and thought this could be a reception restaurant for someone's wedding. That is how much this place has transformed. They had some new furnishings and some of the old...possibly because they are still in transition. The walls are now nicely decorated, so it made my brother's b-day meal much more pleasant. We ordered about 9 dishes including the soup and fried rice. It was way too much for 5 people to handle, but it only cost us slightly more than $100. I would suggest FLM next time my friends and I have a dilemma about where to eat. read more

This is where I go to get dim sum all the time with my family. There's usually a line, so don't get there too late for lunch. The dim sum is yummy. Some of the waitresses don't speak english well, so keep that in mind, but they are very friendly and will usually try to help you get what you want if you are looking for something specific and it hasn't cmoe around in a cart yet. I came here specifically for their dim sum. My friends and I came for Sunday lunch and it wasn't too crowded. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table. Food was good, but my main gripe with this place is how often we were overlooked by the employees. Since we were ordering dim sum, we waited for the carts to come around so we could pick out what we wanted. However, the employees with the carts BARELY stopped by our table. Yes, we were tucked away in the back. But whose fault is that? One of my friends ended up just walking up to the carts to get what we wanted. Not a very memorable experience. This place deserves more love than it's been getting on Yelp. I've been here three times in the past 4 months, each on a Saturday around 11am, and no one is here except for the smiling staff. In terms of my experience at other Dim Sum places, this place is probably the cleanest and best English-speaking servers ever (I don't know how to speak Cantonese but I wish). But it's definitely easy for my girlfriend and I to enjoy delicious a la carte Dim Sum. The waiters and waitresses are always walking around and making sure that the table is clean of empty dishes and are available to customers, which is pretty rare considering you have to raise your hand for like 5 minutes at any other Dim Sum restaurant before someone comes to you.
