I'd heard about Fuji & Vi's years ago but never got around to visiting since it's a bit of a drive. We happened to be in the area recently and decided to finally stop by. If you're visiting with a stroller, I'd recommend leaving it behind if possible. There are no elevators and while ADA-accessible ramps are available, they were somewhat out of the way. The walkways are also very narrow, with tables from neighboring eateries further limiting the space. The restaurant itself is quite small, with only three indoor tables that seat four people each, no outdoor seating available. Since all the tables were occupied, we opted for takeout. When we arrived, no one was at the counter so we had to ring the bell to get assistance. The Detroit-style pizza was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the pizza had great flavor overall. My only major complaint was the temperature inside the restaurant. The thermostat was showing 87 degrees, and it felt very warm. Standing inside for just a few minutes while ordering was uncomfortable so I can't imagine dining in and enjoying a hot pizza in those conditions. Despite the heat and limited seating, the pizza itself was delicious and worth trying if you're in the area.

Yummy Detroit style pizzas with a great weeknight pizza deal (buy one get one 50%). Fed my little family of 3 and even had a couple slices for lunch the next day. Great flavor and good amount of toppings/cheese. The lady at the front was so nice. One warning though, the salads come pretty dressed so don't order it and then drive home with one hour traffic because they will be supremely soggy. I should have asked for dressing on the side.

We ordered the double pepperoni pizza. It was amazing. What a surprise. The Detroit style lives on. The crust was crispy all around. The ingredients were super high quality. The sauce was perfectly tangy. The cheese was oozy and had the pull we all love on a pizza. We enjoyed the meal to the last bite. The shop was small and hidden but was soooo busy. There was a consistent flow of foot traffic's for being on the 2nd floor. Friday night to go orders were many and a few diners. The place does not have a restroom so maybe others knew better. It was a great place for a quick yummy bite. The service was delightful and sweet. It only took 15 minutes for a 4 squared pizza. We will definitely be back for more!

Ordered a couple of pizzas and some cheese sticks for an easy dinner after work and was pleasantly surprised since it was my first time trying Fuji & Vi's. I loved the BBQ chicken pizza a lot, it had great flavor, but I'm a weirdo that doesn't love a lot of sauce on pizza and the default here is a bit too much for me. The crust has a great crisp and the pizzas are cooked well. I'm glad they added cheese sticks to the lineup although this was a while ago and they only had the basic with Italian seasoning--menu says they have specialty ones now and I'ma have to try those out. It's located upstairs above Hummus Labs on Colorado, nice and convenient location!

Another good time here. I'm a big fan of Detroit style pizza and this place did not disappoint. The player deluxe is always on point. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Hawaiian version. If you look at it, it didn't really look all the way ready. The ingredients needed just a little more sizzle. There wasn't much space inside. While we waited, there was no one inside and many people making deliveries. Then there was a surge. We ended up going. Service is nice. Lady is friendly.

Really amazing food! This is located upstairs at the corner of Colorado and Mentor, in what I like to call the restaurant corner (seriously, there are a ton of small Mom and Pop restaurants in that corner that you all should go check out!). So, I was impressed by the reviews and wanted something different to eat. It was my first time there and the employee behind the counter was just so nice and patient as he explained everything! I ended up getting the 4-slice pepperoni and a small Greek salad. Now, listen...their 'small' salad is rather big! Like it can easily feed 2-3 people. And the pizza 4-slice can easily feed 2-3. So you need to be aware of that. There was a little wait but everything came out amazing! The pizza was prepared just right and the salad was so delicious! I would literally go back for the salad alone. Now they're located upstairs so wheelchair accessibility might be an issue, but it is so worth it! You won't be disappointed!

(Would give 3.5 stars!) Tried this place because I am on the hunt for good Detroit style pizza! The BBQ chicken pizza was good, I loved the sauce but the chicken was a little dry. The double pepperoni pizza was also good, but I wish it was cooked more in the middle. Overall, solid spot. The best part is for sure the cheesy edges of the pizza. & they do have a good deal Tu/Wed/Thurs BOGO 50% for 4 square pizzas!

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers, and they were offering buy one get another one 50% off 4 square pizza only that is only available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is located behind the building. Fair warning, because they share the parking lot with several other establishments, the lot does get full very quickly, so come early (right when the restaurant opens) and not during peak business hours. Just an FYI, I lowkey struggled to find this establishment. It's located on the second floor and near the a busy restaurant called Old Town Caffe, which is also on the second floor. Food: First time ever having Detroit style pizza. I ordered the 8 square double pepperoni pizza. Super duper cheesy. Lots of pepperoni even though I couldn't really taste the pepperoni thanks to all the cheese. My favorite part of the pizza was actually the crust, which is very surprising because I usually hate pizza crust and would throw the crusts away. Anyways, I loved how crunchy the crusts were. They were just what I needed after having a mouthful of cheese pizza. It was the kind of balance that my palate required. I also lowkey found the amount of cheese on my pizza to be slightly overwhelming, which I guess is a good thing for some people. It was just too much cheese for my liking. I also discovered that I am not a huge fan of deep dish pizza. However, I am not going to hold it against this small mom and pop restaurant because it's not their fault I discovered that I dislike deep dish pizza. Thankfully, I had also ordered a large chicken Caesar salad. They were very generous with the amount of chicken in the salad. However, the chicken on its own was very bland, which was disappointing. I removed one star for that. I was hoping that it would have been grilled or pan seared. Anyways, the flavorless chicken was served over some fresh and crisp romaine lettuce, which was tossed with creamy and rich dressing paired with Parmesan cheese and crunchy and golden croutons. This was the perfect paring with the pizza. Overall, it was interesting and good. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, welcoming, kind, fast, and laidback. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

We went on a Sunday afternoon and service was prompt and friendly. They were able to do half half for us since we have kids who like just plain cheese. The employee also gave us great recommendations since it was our first time. The store is clean and bright and airy. Since it overlooks the street, the kids could watch the cars driving by from our seat by the window. The Greek salad was delicious and a great flavor - definitely worth ordering. The pizza came out deliciously hot and crispy on the outside. Their Detroit style pizza is filling! Parking here is great with a ramp up to a rooftop parking lot and there were plenty of spaces.

The lady who took my owner is this sweet japanese lady. I think she owns the place. She's very nice. I've never had detroit style pizza... and I really enjoyed their pizza. The dough is soft inside with crunchy sides & bottom. I love how they did not skimp on the toppings. If you've never had detroit style pizza... this is a good place to try them

This is the best pizza I've had in a long time. I love pizza so much to the point my hubby has to close my eyes when there is a commercial for pizza lol So when I say the cheese and sauce on this pizza is immaculate. They really took their time and perfected their craft, I'm super impressed and will definitely be ordering again. I ordered take out and it was still so hot and good. Next time I'm going in.

Now this was a great pizza! I actually would make this a new staple pizza place because of how flavorful it was from the crust to the actual sauce and chicken. It really is just great Detroit style pizza in a little hole in the wall place!

Fantastic pizza spot in Pasadena and the only place I know around here serving Detroit-style. The pizzas come out fresh with those cheesy, crispy crust corner pieces that are easily the best part. Recently, we ordered a bunch for a company lunch and it was a huge hit. The double pepperoni was especially popular, but everything we tried was solid. If you're a pizza lover, this spot is a must!

I was craving pizza but really wanted to give Detroit style a try since I love pan pizza type of crusts. Had this place bookmarked for awhile and it's in the same plaza as some other restaurants and shops I've been to. They have a parking level on the upper level which works out well since they're on the 2nd floor. The inside is pretty small with maybe 4 tables but overall pretty clean. I decided to go with a 4 square of the Contradiction which came with chicken, pineapple, bacon, jalapeños and bbq sauce and a 4 square of the Super Deluxe which came with ham, pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms and I got it without onions. The order came out to be about $39 or so which does sounds little steep for pizza. But I will say the slices are pretty sizable and toppings were plentiful. I was full off of 2 slices so not a bad deal considering. I love the crust and was definitely made to order and fresh. Definitely recommend the pizza but not the best place to come if you've got a big group. More of a takeout or delivery spot I would say. read more

This pizza definitely deserves its Yelp rating My husband and I ordered the Margherita and Super Deluxe after finding about the buy one get one 50% off August promo from SGV Eats. The pizza had a really nice bouncy dough, a great topping/cheese ratio, and the crispy edges were my fave part I recommend calling ahead for pickup. I was able to call around 4pm to reserve a pizza pickup at 7pm. The owner was very sweet! Read about this place and saw all the positive reviews. Also heard that they have Detroit style pizza? Being a bit of a pizza snob had to give it a go. Ordered pick up and found a lovely greek pie on the menu but no red sauce...wanted to mix it up a bit so added this and also a smaller cheese pie. Got home and wow...fell in love. Lots of flavor and really good ingredients. The greek with red sauce was a bit different ( lol restaurant called me to make sure this is what I wanted) but oh so good! Loved the cheesiness and crust. This place is definitely a diamond in the rough. It's located on the second floor of this plaza, but one really nice perk is that the building has it's own dedicated lot which you can access of Mentor. Pizza is amazing. Super crispy crust and I love mine with a little extra sauce on top, which the guy only recommends if you dine-in. Pizza can take a bit, I'd budget like 30 min after ordering. But it's still just as good as quarter sheets in echo park without the 2 hr wait. Inside is pretty bare bones, just has three tables that can fit four each. No public bathroom (you can use the Pasadena hotel lobby bathroom across Mentor in a pinch). When it gets busy they don't usually pick up the phone as they're usually slammed with online or walk-in orders. The one guy always working can be a bit aloof, but he works hard and is reasonable, so just give him some grace. read more

Legit Detroit style pizza. Best I've found in LA area. Had "The Classic" and it was spot on. Super nice staff, lowkey, hole in the wall take-away vibes. You can eat there but there's only 3 tables big enough for 4 people. So not good for groups. There are some combo specials that are actually decent deals too. read more

One of our favorite pizza spots in Pasadena. We typically order pizza to go via phone and their staff is always very courteous when answering the phone and helpful in guiding us in the ordering process. Our go to recently has been the contradiction. The pizza is stacked in the best possible way and the crispy crust is a chefs kiss. read more

Best pizza I've had in a long time. We had half bbq chicken, half Greek. We loved both but the bbq chicken was fantastic! the crust, the texture, the toppings were delicious AND remarkably, the leftovers tasted even better the next day! Friendly service too. This humble establishment serves authentic Detroit-style pizza. Crispy crust and generous amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. I got two individual sized pizzas to share with my sister. We were able to spread it out over the course of three dinners. That gives you a sense of what you're getting with each pie! I 100% recommend this spot if you're looking for a new kind of comfort food. read more

Pizza here is delicious! If you love cheese, this is the pizza place to go. The restaurant itself is small, only 3 4-seaters so be warned that there may bot be enough seating. Service is pretty quick and pizza comes out super fresh! The 4 square is big enough to feed 2 normal people or 1 really hungry person. read more

Pizza has a lot of sauce but skimpy on the toppings in my opinion. Crust was nice but it was a bit greasy. We tried the bbq chicken wings and I think it would have been better to put the sauce on the side bc the wings were soggy by the time we got home. I think the sauce was tasty and the wings were huge though! Best Detroit pizza is quarter sheets but this is closer with better parking. read more

Finally got to try out Fuji & Vi's after hearing my coworker rave about it being their favorite pizza place. I decided to order the veggie pizza. I was a little disappointed with the number of toppings but the pizza was delicious regardless. I ordered two 8 square pizza's for my family. It was my family's first time trying Detroit style pizza. Everyone loved now fluffy the crust was. I would recommend ordering your pizza online or via phone first as it does take round 20-30 mins to bake. The staff were extremely friendly. There are a few tables and chairs inside if you want to eat in. There is parking in the back. read more

I haven't had Detroit-style pizza before and I wanted to check it out so I found this place near me and I'm glad I did. I had the Santiglia and my son had the classic. Both were really good. It's a very small (3 or 4 tables) casual place and it seems like they get a lot of takeout orders but we dined in. The staff people I've dealt with both times were both very nice. I will definitely be a repeat customer. This is one of my favorite pizzas now. read more

All the great Yelp reviews caught our eye for this pizza place, and we came by for some deep dish pizza. This place is a little hidden. There is parking structure in the back. I parked on the street and walked in from the front. We went upstairs and made a right to get to this pizza place. There was a guitar next to the cashier. I wonder if that is a decoration or there will be live music one of these days. Chef/cashier was friendly, and he gave us good recommendation of the pizza. We ordered a 4 squares pepperoni and a 4 square argument (pineapple and ham). It took them 15 minutes to prepare, which I do not mind. The pizza came out very hot and fresh. One of the yelp elites mentioned about the secret spicy, and we asked for it. The pizza tasted awesome by itself, and adding the secret spicy is adding sprinkles to the cake! This is the best deep dish pizza I have ever had. Highly recommended this place, and I will come back again for sure. read more

Excellent pizza!! If you are looking for a deep dish, Chicago style pizza try this place out. I was looking for something that wasn't a chain but had really good food and this place is it! The four squares were just enough for two people and the small salad made the meal perfect. Looking forward to coming back here soon read more

We love Detroit Style Pizza and are very happy that it is getting its time in the limelight and new places are seemingly popping up weekly. So we've been wanting to try Fuji & Vi's for awhile now and we finally used the Super Bowl as a good reason to get a pizza from them. When we placed the order online there was only one option available, the Santiglia, which is like their "everything on it" version. The restaurant and staff exude that family atmosphere and abundance of kindness so we had high hopes for the pizza. We could tell a lot of love went into it and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We do prefer the Detroit-style pizza from Quartersheets but will definitely visit Fuji & Vi's from time to time since it is so much easier to get and scratches that DSP craving itch just fine. read more

I was looking for Detroit style pizza in LA and was glad to find that a well-reviewed place was just two miles away from my house! I got the veggie 4 square. The pizza is very tasty! It's thick crust and crispy as expected. I wasn't a big fan of the tomato slices, so I removed them. This will be my go-to pizza place going forward. read more

Yesterday was my first visit to Fuji & Vi's. Actually, six months ago I went to Fuji & Vi's but they were closed. They normally would be open but for very personal reasons they were closed. So yesterday I went back and they were open. It took a while to return because I was busy and put this on the back burner. Read my review and see why I am so glad I went yesterday. First off, parking is on the roof. There is a parking lot on the top which is nice. Fuji & Vi's is also on the top so accessing the restaurant is easy. You can also do street parking if you prefer then take the elevator or walk up the stairs to get to the restaurant. When I arrived, I was greeted at the counter by a very pleasant Japanese woman who happens to be the owner. She took my order. I ordered the 4 piece w/ pepperoni and sausage. They take about 15 minutes to make, so 15 minutes later I received my pizza. I am a pizza guy, I love Detroit and NY Pizza as well as an occasional Chicago pizza. I also make pizza, NY and Detroit. I make NY much more than Detroit, but occasionally I make Detroit pizza. I have to say that this Detroit Pizza at Fuji & Vi's is excellent. The first bite was pure Heaven. Everything about it is perfection. The taste, the texture, the thickness of the dough, quality of ingredients. The sauce is excellent. The cheese they use is perfect. I don't know if they use Brick cheese like they do in Detroit since it is hard to get out west, but whatever they use is perfect for this pizza. The dough is light and airy with just the right amount of percentage of oil in it. It's not always easy to get a Detroit crust so perfect. I know since I make Detroit pizza now and then. I ate 3 of 4 pieces until I was full, then I brought the 4th piece home. So why do I eat pizza out if I make pizza? Because I don't always have the time and motivation to make pizza. It takes a lot of prep and work and time. I will continue to make NY style pizza but for Detroit I will leave it to Fuji & Vi's rather than spend the time and effort to make my own. This definitely will be my go-to place for Detroit pizza. I also had the pleasure of talking with the owner. Katsume is the name of the owner if I recall. She is a very delightful person. To be quite honest, she is a very loveable person. Talking with her and learning about the history of the restaurant was interesting and enjoyable. Her husband who started the restaurant with her passed away six months ago. My heart goes out to Katsume and all his family and friends. I would have loved to meet him and talk "pizza" with him. Katsume of course knows a lot about pizza since she owns the business and started it with her husband, so we talked "shop". Her husband was from Detroit so he definitely knew what makes a good Detroit pizza. Talking with Katsume really added to the experience and made my day. Not only is the pizza excellent, getting to know the owner Katsume made the experience complete. I left the restaurant very happy because the food was excellent and satisfying and Katsume is so pleasant. I highly recommend Fuji & Vi's. You will love this place if you are in search of Detroit pizza. If you never had Detroit pizza, I suggest you visit this restaurant and try it out. You will be hooked on it your first bite. I love NY style pizza, but society is overly saturated by NY pizza places, but Detroit is not common at all. I'm glad the restaurant exists. Do yourself a favor and visit Fuji & Vi's. I am going back again to get Detroit pizza as a return customer and a regular. I live in Monterey Park so I don't live close, but it is sooo good, and the owner is a sweet person I will gladly go from MP to Pasadena for Detroit Pizza. I will go back shortly. read more

Simply put, this iconic square pizza is an outstanding bonus for Southern Californians thanks to owner, Michael Oranchak's passion, commitment to excellence and Michigan roots. For those not familiar with Detroit style pies, this premium pizza is cooked in a pan with the cheese that goes from edge to edge generating a golden, caramelized crust and sauce placed on top and traditionally in stripes. Simply put, one of my favorite pizza styles and will be yours after stopping by Fuji & Vi's. Located on the second floor of a sleepy retail space in the heart of Pasadena, Fuji & Vi's offers simple, no fuss pies in a small space to enjoy a quick bite dining in one of the 3 tables, or grabbing to enjoy on the go. There is a public parking lot behind the building with plenty of spaces to choose from. The menu is pretty straight forward. Pick your size: 4 squares (8x10") or 8 squares (8x14") and choose your toppings. On a average night, expect to wait about 15-20 minutes for your freshly-prepared pizza. The staff are very friendly, take a ton of pride in preparing each pie with tons of attention to detail and love. My girlfriend and I decided to split an 8 square Double Pepperoni (layer under cheese and layer on top of cheese) and 1/2 Pineapple. I'm not a big pineapple fan, but I will admit that sampling one of the slices was quite tasty, with the sweet pineapple not overpowering the flavor of the salty, rich pepperoni. The magic of the pan-made pizza is the crispy, buttery crust sealed around some super fresh, super tasty ingredients. The corner pieces are the absolute best, with twice the edges to enjoy this magical crispy ends to each piece. The dough is fresh, super soft, while the toppings are premium and plenty. I'm glad to have found Fuji & Vi's in my neighborhood and happy to share the love that has been shown with similar reviews on Yelp. I'm not as familiar with Detroit style pizza but I've trying it at other places. The restaurant is located on Colorado near the South Lake area of Pasadena and easy to find. We got the double pepperoni, BBQ chicken and do it yourself with sausage and mushroom. The sauce is good, hearty and chunky, The BBQ chicken was really good and now I'm tempted to try the Argument pizza (ham and pineapple . The pepperoni was good but I wished I tried the Old World style pepperoni, next time. Overall great pizzas, airy dough and great cheese crunch. 5 stars read more

Detroit-style pizza isn't my usual style of pizza since I'm definitely a New York pizza guy. But I have been wanting to try a good Detroit-style pizza and found Fuji & Vi's in Pasadena. Well, it wasn't just good...it was GREAT! This is a true mom and pop shop! It's run by a Japanese husband and wife who lived in Detroit and learned how to make Detroit-style pizza. They are super nice! In any case, first time I came here was to actually dine in. Ordered the Biggio and it came out piping hot! Great Detroit-style pizza looks heavy, but is actually very light. And this was exactly that! Amazing sauce and flavorful toppings, couldn't have asked for more. If you do want to dine in here, there are three tables that can sit up to four people. It's quite small for sure! Parking is in the back and is free, which is nice considering it is Pasadena. Since my initial visit, I've also tried the Super Deluxe. It's also really good! Very small place. There are 3 tables total. It's located upstairs kind with not much signage. That's too bad because this place is AMAZING! I've had this bookmarked for a while and so glad I finally had the chance to check it out! The lady up front was super sweet and nice. Pizza came out in normal time. We ordered the square Spicy Italian. OMG I am hooked! The pizza dough was buttery, cheese was perfectly crisp on the sides and it was slightly sweet. Not sure what it was but I'm a fan! Good pizza spot! Definitely a good try for Detroit style pizza. Very thick and filling! We got our pizza and honestly wish it had more toppings. We waited about 20 minutes which wasn't bad and they told us that's how long it would take and the service was good. We enjoyed the music and dining area as well. I'm a believer ! Pizza was amazing and I'm whatever when it comes to deep dish . But this sone different . Detroit style pizza is somewhere between deep dish and what is called thin crust . However unlike traditional deep dish , you don't necessarily need a fork & knife to get the job done . The best part is the crispy cheesy edges .The amount of sauce is just right too . Fuji and VI's Detroit-style pizza is one of the best I've had in a long time. Pizza is one of my favorite foods, and I've had some delicious pies across the country and in some spots outside. Napoleon style to Chicago deep dish, New York to Chicago LA to Detroit,My favorite is Detroit-style pizza, and Fuji and VI's really brings it home. I found out about Fuji and VI's when their Detroit-style pizza appeared on the top 100 list for best pizza places in the world. They're located on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, about a 20-mile drive from me. I waited 45 minutes for them to open at 11:30 AM, but it was worth it. Pasadena can get very busy and parking can be tricky, so I wanted to get there early. This was my first time trying the place out, and they're located on the second level, which can be hard to spot from the street. However, there's parking in the rear. Everything about this place is worth it! I ordered an eight-square pizza with a half-margarita, half-Biggio topping. The people were very friendly, which I appreciate and love. But the best part was the pizza! I took my two doggies with me, so we took the pizza to go. The place is small with about three tables. When I got to my truck, I wanted to taste the pizza while it was hot, so I decided to have a bite. I gotta tell you, from the first bite, that square of pizza never had a chance! It was so delicious, cheesy, and meaty--awesome! I licked my fingers after as well. There are other places that make a Detroit-style pizza, but I'll be going to Fuji and VI's for some time to come. When I lived in Detroit about 40 years ago, my favorite place was Buddy's pizza. I would always go when I visited Detroit, and sometimes relatives and friends would send me a couple of pies. Buddy's also used to deliver frozen pizzas to you in the mail. It's been years since then, and Detroit-style pizza has been popping up in various places. I've even seen a Detroit-style pizza at Costco. If you're a pizza lover, especially a Detroit-style pizza lover, then Fuji and VI's Detroit-style pizza is the place to go! Overdue for this review, but better late than never! Love this place! Came here on a fly as a friend referred me here and I was impressed, definitely a tucked away diamond in Pasadena. I loved it so much that I cane back! Tried the float and it's made with Vernon's ginger ale instead of regular Cañada dry! I said hmm I grew up with Canada Dry, so the owner was nice and he did a fun little experiment l. I did a blind taste test of Canada Dry verses Vernon's! And YUP!!! I'm sold lol Vernon's is wayyy better than Canada Dry and the float went perfectly with my tasty pizza!!! Gotta love and appreciate Great customer service! read more

Holy.. AMAZING pizza!! It's one big gooey thicc ray of sunshine. Okay but forreal, the spicy Italian is just spicy enough for my spice-sensitive bf. The sides are also just crispy enough that it's not burnt but a piece of happiness for those of us who like it CRISP. I dare say this is even better than a certain other pizza place in Pasadena... but you be the judge! Can't wait to come back and try more specialities. Oh also, the lady behind the counter is such a sweetheart. She took time to explain the menu to us first timers. She did also mention that the place could close early due to them selling out, so I recommend calling just in case! Overall, one of the best places I've had in a while. Yum! read more

I recently discovered Detroit style pizza and now I am on a quest to try as many Detroit style pizza places as possible. I was in the Pasadena area and found Fuji & Vi's on Yelp. I ordered an 8 square pepperoni pizza to go. This is only the 3rd Detroit style pizza I have tried, so I don't have much to compare it too, but I'd say it's pretty darn good. It's very cheesy and I love how the edges are so crusty. The dough is a softer consistency rather than the foccacia like consistency I've had from the other 2 Detroit style pizzeria I've tried. I wish they'd put more pepperoni on the pizza though. Prices were reasonable. It was $20.50 plus tax for the 8 square pepperoni pizza. I'd definitely return here to try their other flavors, such as the bbq chicken pizza. The restaurant is tiny and is on a 2nd floor of an outdoor shopping plaza. You have to climb some stairs to get there. read more

This is one of my favorite pizza places now. The photo gallery in their website totally does the pizza justice. It is as good as it photographs! I never had Detroit-style pizza. I don't take part in the Great Pizza Debate with regional styles vying for Best Pizza Ever. Pizza is either good or it's average. The flavors and textures between cheese, crust and sauce are either balanced and each component delicious, or the magic just doesn't happen. Whenever I try thick, rectangular pizza slices I'm always disappointed in either sauce, cheese, or crust. I always hoped that pizza would taste like these slices. This pizza is the paradigm of what a thick square slice of pizza should be-- a sauce that is deliciously balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory-- the perfect intermediary between cheese and carbs. Speaking of carbs, a nice thick crust, just doughy enough to feel your teeth sink into, but with the edges perfectly carmelized to support the slice as it makes its way to your pizza pie-hole. The cheese was-- well, cheese, but cheese that goes all the way to the edge of the crust, caramelized to a deep golden brown against the pie pan. On this maiden visit, we tried both the Margherita and the Biggio. The Biggio is their version of a meat lover's pizza-- pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon. The ham and bacon, however, lent a smoky flavor -- almost too barbecue-ish -- for a non-bbq pizza. I know this is Detroit pizza but it was almost a little too un-Italian to us. The Margherita pizza, on the other hand, was crave-worthy. The cheese, sauce, and crust converged into a balance of flavor -- sweet, savory, and tangy, as well as texture -- doughy, crispy, the cheesy stretchiness, the caramelized edges.... I thought this slice was pizza, pure and simple, delicious in its simplicity. Even the tomato slices seemed to be cut the right thickness. I got ours to-go and tried calling ahead-- several times. No go, so I had to order when I got there. The pizzaria (suite #203) lives on the second floor of a two story mini-mall, overlooking the street-side dining lanes on Colorado. The parking lot is also on the second floor which is convenient, the entrance of which is on Mentor, just south of Colorado. Our order took 20 minutes to prepare-- well worth the wait. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Their Caesar was a mix of iceberg and romaine and was fine. Just know that their Caesar salads are tossed-- a dealbreaker for some if you're not into lifeless salads. Just remember this if you're ordering to-go and have to drive a ways before digging in. There is no soda fountain in the restaurant. Beverages are canned. After trying their pizza I appreciate this. I also liked how their menu is simple-- there are just two salads offered and most importantly their pizza, but really, their pizza is all you'll really need. Detroit or otherwise, it's just really good pizza. read more

I've been on the hunt for the best Detroit style pizza in LA and recently tried this spot. Quite the generous size for the 8 slice, though I thought they'd be a little more generous with the toppings when ordering a double pepperoni -- this was a little shy (see pic) I'd give this a solid 4.5 stars. Crust is crispy, nice caramel cheese lace climbing the sides, spongey and doughy crust base to it. Tomato sauce had an earthy herby flavor, but still worked. This was ordered through UberEats and definitely arrived room temperature and needed some time in the oven after arrival. Solid spot for Detroit pizza, I'd happily get it again. read more

On May 7th, 2026 at 3:30 PM I ordered for pickup my usual meat and potatoes plate. Weirdly, the order was ready for pickup in a couple of minutes when usually it would be ready in 10 minutes which would have been less sketchy. I should have trusted my instincts. I walked in to pick up my order and there were zero customers around, usually there are a few customers eating at the tables. Sign that the quality has dwindled and the regulars aren't retuning. I get back home to treat myself (I spent $28 for the meal plus a drink.) Much to my dismay I opened the plate and was so disappointed. It was half of what normally comes in the box but the potatoes were stacked high and of course extremely oily. I was like ok let's just eat this because I don't have more time to find another place to get food plus I've already splurged. The chicken was undercooked and rubbery and came with no chicken breast like it normally does just some boney legs. Since I was so hungry and paid the extra money for "light" chicken I still ate it. I'm sick now, the night of May 8th I'm still on the toilet. Save your money and go to Zankou if you want good rotisserie chicken they've been doing it right in LA since the 80s. Or Costco; 5$ chicken unless you want a $32 dollar chicken here to make you and your family sick and poor.

It seemed more like tomato sauce than a soup since the consistency was very thick. I liked that they used fresh tomatoes and it was packed with flavor. Also, really enjoyed the complimentary toast and croutons! Overall, I thought it was a good deal with the promo but a bit overpriced if I were to pay full price. I enjoyed the steak but thought the Chimichurri and tomato basil soup was just ok.

The food was substandard. In So Cal, we have tons of choices for this sort of food and desserts. We made the trip to Pasadena because of our experience with Nana's in Hawaii. After the ordering process, the 4 desserts we ordered took a very long time to prepare. Our situation was not unique. Many people before and after us had long faces and watched as others finally got their food. We had two lattes, a matcha soft serve and a parfait. All but soft serve were overflowing and dripping out of their cups/glasses as soon as we touched them. Despite the lattes chocolate syrups, milk and whipped cream - they somehow managed to be watery and lack taste. As for the hojicha parfait, the design of the glass was not user friendly. They are tall and narrow. Because everything was packed too tightly, it was impossible to get a spoon into the glass without things coming out of it. It was a chore and unpleasurable. I understand that using cereal is a thing for these desserts. IMO this is a very cheap and low end ingredient for something with a perceived elevated experience as Nana's tries to present. I don't believe Nana's in Hawaii had glasses, just plastic cups, so having cereal in my dessert that came in a plastic cup really didn't phase me, but with all that cereal pouring out of the glass cup as I tried to get the contents inside that tiny glass was a really frustrating experience. It just didn't add-up. It made no sense what was happening. The parfait had one small scoop of hojicha and the majority of the glass was full of plain soft serve. As I said, in So Cal we have so, so many choices. What is the point of coming to this place for vanilla soft serve? We will not be back - very disappointing. My wife and I grew up in the area, so I understand that the buildings are old, but Nana's was a new build at the time of this writing, and it looked like it had been there for a decade. I understand that there are things that can't be done about the building, but I did expect more from the interior. As the sun was blasting in my kid's faces, I noticed there were no shades. I also noticed they didn't clean their windows! Because of the sun blaring in their eyes, I then noticed the lack of finish in the window sills... I heard this was a flagship store, but sorta seems like a neglected franchise.

Lean in to what their specials are. Both dishes were amazing. The Panda Inn Special featured large plump bites of lobster, chicken, and shrimp, with a medley of vegetables and smaller pieces of pork. The Panda Beef was shockingly amazing with crisp and flavorful slices of beef. We finished up dinner with Chocolate Lava Cake and the Warm Rice Pudding, the latter of which is also made in house. Both were a very great end to the dinner. Other notes that were very appreciated: - the checkbook and how nice it looked -they took the parking ticket with the check so we didn't have to go validate it ourselves - white rice is free? - the bar had an automatic wine glass shiner that was fun to look at - take out bag has a very luxury feel to it

Rates: $1.00 first 2 hrs, $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for the full day. I liked the set menu, it was good for the price and I would like to return to try their other lunch menu items, whether it would be a set menu or a la carte.

If you're looking for a tasty pizza spot with convenient parking, look no further than Fuji and Vi's! This cozy restaurant has a small capacity, but don't let that stop you from enjoying their delicious pies. PARKING: There is a free parking lot in the back of the complex. The restaurant is located on the second floor next to Mon Cheri Boba. PIZZAS: I ordered four different pizzas: the Spicy Italian, Super Deluxe, BBQ Chicken, and the Classic. All of them were delicious, but my personal favorite was the Spicy Italian, which had a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The added sweetness from the honey really elevated the flavor of the pizza. The 4SQ size is enough for 1 person. What's even more special about this place is that it's run by a lovely couple. They named the restaurant after the wife's mother, Fuji, and the husband's grandmother, Violet. It's heartwarming to see their dedication to their family history through the restaurant's name. Overall, I highly recommend Fuji and Vi's for anyone looking for delicious pizza, convenient parking, and to support a small business run by a wonderful couple. We visited Fuji & Vi's near E Colorado Blvd/Lake in Pasadena and had an amazing experience. We ordered the Spicy Italian Detroit-style pizza, and it was sooo good! The corner pieces were perfectly crunchy : that thick crust was the best part. The toppings were just as great. The sausage had that delicious, savory flavor that paired perfectly with the gooey, melted cheese. Every bite was rich and satisfying. The spice level was spot-on: not too spicy, but with just enough kick to make the pizza extra tasty. The lady who took our phone order said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes, but when we arrived in about 10, it was already hot and ready to go. Super fast and friendly. I have been going to this small mom and pop owned pizza spot and honestly, every time I go, the food always blows me away! From the moment you walk in, there's this cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. But the real star is the pizza! It is perfectly crisp crust, rich and flavorful sauce, and toppings that taste incredibly fresh and thoughtfully chosen! Fuji & Vi's has wings now!!! I usually stop by and grab a personal pizza pie (best Detroit style pizza in Pasadena btw). However when I stopped by today I saw that they added wings to the menu so i just had to try them. They are so good 10/10 Love it when restaurants try new things ill definitely be back for the Honey BBQ wings next! read more
