Hoping it was a one-off. Because it was becoming one of our favorite sushi places, we had lunch here last week. The cut sushi was remarkably smaller and the service lacking in thoughtfulness. I had questions on a few items on the menu and the female server's response was "I don't know." I had to give her a blank stare for her to finally say, "Let me find out." My husband has soda served in a glass and when he asked for a refill, the server pretty much grabbed a can and dropped it on our table and off she went- wondering why she can't find the time to put the refill on a new glass. And man, the other staff who gave us our check never left our side as we were paying. Hopefully, it wasn't to shame us for giving a tip below 20% because seriously, the server didn't deserve even 15% which I actually gave her. I've been going to this restaurant since it opened. We walked in tonight, and the music was blaring and oppressively loud, deafening, in fact. There is zero ability to hear your dinner companion nor to have any kind of conversation. I asked for the music to be turned down and was told, "sorry, we can't do that, it's part of our ambience." I will never step foot in this restaurant again. All of its customers will go DEAF from the noise pollution. By the way, the "music" was hideous, too. read more

We popped in here on a Saturday evening. It wasn't too busy, but service was a bit slow, and they messed up our order (but to be fair, they have a lot of similar names for their rolls: red dragon roll vs dragon roll). They did end up getting us the proper roll, and there was a massive delay with getting the Dragon Ball dish. That being said, super fresh, friendly staff, and a nice ambience in the restaurant. The pitcher of Sapporo hit the perfect drink spot. The Fresh Heaven Keto Roll was good, but it was super slippery and a bit difficult to properly grasp without everything coming undone. Good flavor though. The Spider Roll was pretty good, but it felt like it was a few pieces shorter than other places. The Red Dragon Roll was darn near perfection. I would order a few plates of that. The Dragon Ball dish came with 4 pieces, and it was a good balance between crunch and smooth, spicy and cool. I would definitely get that in the rotation. Since this place is close to my work, I would definitely go again. Perhaps on on lunch where I have limited time, but might hit it up for happy hour after work. read more

Fujiya used to be my favorite local sushi spot but after 2 recent bad take outs, I will no longer come here for my sushi needs. Not only did they raise their prices by about 20%, the rice is mushy now and lacks flavor. Thought they had a bad day, but it happened twice. :( I understand the higher price but that's quite a jump. read more

We happened to be in Burbank at lunchtime and decided to grab some sushi. My wife and I had the chirashi bowls and both LOVED them. We haven't had much sushi during the pandemic and when. We have it has been in Simi Valley. The fish was so fresh and the texture was amazing - way better than anything near us. The COVID practices at Fujiya were good. The space is small for pick up so only two customers can really fit. They door have the floor marked to indicate 6 ft distances and they also offered hand sanitizer. They have an efficient set up. To go orders were neatly arranged for pick up. I was in and out. PS - my wife recalls going here 15 years ago. She said it is just as good as she remembered it. read more

And I also learned that with several of their baked dishes, they can make them WITHOUT rice. Game changer fir me! There's also outdoor dining here, too. Normally this place has good food and service. But my wife and I recently visited where we observed a complete lack of PPE usage while they were preparing our food and packaging. The manager had no gloves and was not wearing his mask correctly. He then proceeded to help packaging food and stuck his face in our food. I asked why he would stick his face in our food during a pandemic. He said he needed to smell it. I'm sorry but its sushi, not sure why he would, I thought thats the purpose of chefs. Additionally the chefs were not wearing gloves while preparing food potentially causing cross contamination. We asked the manager to at least correct himself and pull his mask up which he did not. We immediately asked for a refund and was told that it would process in a few days. Its now been over 2 weeks and we have not seen our refund. We are now forced to file a claim with our bank. Fujya, you get a 1 star for not abiding by the county health order and for not refunding us as per our conversation. read more
