First time here. It gets kinda busy during lunch hours and there was only 1 waitress. I sat myself in the patio and ordered the 3 item lunch combo: Salmon Teriyaki w/ Spicy Tuna Roll & Crunchy Roll. This is probably our new favorite sushi spot. I like that they have a rotating sushi special menu and it does get updated pretty often. So if you do come and eat here definitely grab at least 1 roll from their current special menu. This past time we came we had the Flamango. Very tasty, I thought it had too much cilantro in it though. Once I took some of it out I enjoyed it. We also got the crispy tuna tataki roll. The blue fin sashimi was really fresh and didn't have that fishy or metallic taste to it. Our favorite roll here is the OMG. Seared salmon on top of a shrimp tempura crunchy roll with a mango salsa on top. It comes out to your table wrapped in foil and they light it on fire. Fun little flare to your meal. Definitely a must try! Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that they have limited seating inside. They have a lot of outside seating however when it's cold out it's not comfortable. Live Shirimp and Shrimp Head Tempura - 10 stars if possible. The shirimp sashimi was really sweet and Tempura was crispy. Whay can I say more about it. My party ordered 3 rolls, and 2 were 4 stars. This place isn't called "fusion" for no reason. Nobody asked us for options, we got purple / black rice instead of regular sushi rice. What even is this? Some healthy trend? I wish I was told before we ordered. It does taste slightly different, for me, not in a good way. I really wished they told us ahead of time otherwise I wouldn't have ordered so much expensive toro on purple rice? Totally kills the flavor! Service was also really slow. Didn't even get water for about the first 20 minutes. Had to rush to get our order in one go for fear that we wouldn't have another chance. Also the server didn't seem to know the prices or even some of the fish names. She was friendly but everyone seemed in a rush. She tried to leave the table before half of the people eating even ordered. I guess she though we were all sharing a roll? You order loads of sushi and you get weird purple rice sushi and you can't really control or help it? Was I charged extra for this? Was this optional? My family of four has been coming here since the restaurant opened over 10 years ago. We are locals. I believe this usb the 3rd set of owners but I'm not sure. The quality of the food has gone down. The sushi rolls for lack of a better word were were too "wet." I don't know if the rice was over cooked or over saturated but it was a terrible consistency and structure. Also the quality of the fish has gone terribly. We had the sashimi roll and we could not finish it. The salmon spicy salmon roll did not taste good at all. I used to live near the Tustin Marketplace and was eagerly waiting for this new sushi place to arrive so I can get my sushi on more frequently. However my husband and I just moved to east Anaheim and I had to redo my Yelp searches of what's good around me. We do have a lot of options, and luckily (at the time) a new sushi place had just opened up! My friend and I went the first time after a shopping day, and we were excited to try this place. Oh man is this place good! It's a small space but has outdoor seating as well, the decorations and the service were awesome!!! The drinks are even in cute mason jars. I, for personal reasons, don't eat seafood but love sushi (vegetarian or chicken/beef rolls) and not a lot of places do justice to those type of rolls bc of the fact that they aren't seafood based. Fusion Sushi isn't that at all, the veggie tempura is aesthetically pleasing as well as DELICIOUS! And the chicken katsu roll... Oh man; it's sooooo good! Super filling!!! We ordered miso soup and edamame for starters. Both were pretty good but nothing spectacular for my taste. We also ordered 3 rolls: California roll, baked salmon roll, and a baked scallop roll. We got out orders but realized only towards the end that they had completely given us the wrong roll and they had given us a salmon roll instead of a baked scallop one... The quality of the sushi itself leaves much to be desired. The ginger, rice, and fish were all relatively dry and felt as if they were a little old. The fish to rice ratio is pretty good though! My daughter and her boyfriend are regulars at Fusion. They had a wonderful dinner right before prom and it was fantastic. The Sumi salad is amazing. It goes really well with their sushi dinners. It's kind of crazy that I've never left a review here before. It's been my favorite sushi joint since they opened! Sadly, it seems their rolls have gotten much smaller, pricier, and with lower quality fish. My go to roll is ALWAYS a Crunch Salmon Tataki, but I've ordered it twice in the last two weeks. The first time was to-go, and I figured that the fish quality was due to me ordering to-go, so I just let it roll off my shoulder. I came back last night with my husband bc I just had to had to HAD TO have it. The to-go order hadn't scratched my itch, so I thought a dine-in experience would do the trick! Sadly, it seems the quality of the salmon was not a fluke. Just wasn't as fresh as they used to be. Also ordered a Baked Lobster roll, and even that was half the size it used to be. Nothing is the same here. My husband and I each ordered 2 rolls and finished it completely, which never happens. We had more than enough room for dessert, so we ordered their DELICIOUS green tea tempura ice cream. That dessert is ALWAYS a bop. It's just really unfortunate that we spent $76 and didn't get our fill. I have never felt so disappointed with a food experience. I ordered 3 SUPER crunch rolls, edemame, tempura and a hand roll. Totalling over 80 dollars. For what I received they should rename the rolls "the slightly crunchy roll". I have seen better rolls at Albertsons. I waited around 30 minutes for everything above named. And didn't even receive any tempura sauce. When I called to complain I was passed back and forth between servers and management and finally was told "The best they could do" was give me a 5 dollar credit for next time. Various customers inside also complained of the wait time. Don't waste your money or time going. They are having you pay for their renovation with subpar food and even worse service. read more
