This is one of my favorite place in Frisco Area. We always love to went for quick bites like their chicken pot stickers which my wife is fan of. She always have pot stickers and this is one of the dish of menu that she never enve look up to and just ordered as soon as we settled Here you can select the type of bowl you want and you can any number of toppings that includes chicken, pork, crab, fish, shrimp and generally all veggies. You can select your spices and the sauces. Then you can select the type starch you want and eggs. And after you give all.your toppings and sauces, chef cooked really well and you can taste every flavour of spices you have selected. The ambience is cool and I think they have renovated recently as it's been a while we have been here. And team members are friendly and patiently explains the process of ordering if you new to the restaurant. Also, they have started a new rewards program through you can avail new coupons and offers through their app, like we have redeemed free drink today. And you can get offers on your birthday as well Try to install their app and register yourself and avail the offers. This is one of the places where I want to visit again and again. read more

I have been a GG fan for years but the organization overall continues to decline. The only reason this is not a 2 star is the staff. The team does a great job with the poor management and facilities they work in. The day I visited many things were not fresh and they were out of several staples for GG. I keep hoping someone will buy them or a new management would come in...better yet the existing executives should go to each location for lunch and dinner as a customer. No badges, no GG shirts and take in the food and atmosphere. read more

Been a regular patron of GG for a few years and have eaten at this location many times. Generally the service and quality is good with no complaints there. But tonight I placed my first online order and I have to say that the experience was quite awful. I ordered two custom bowls plus an appetizer and let's just say there were some problems. Both bowls were missing ingredients: Bowl 1 one lacked oranges and Bowl 2 was without carrots. Technically, the mushrooms ordered in Bowl 2 were included because I counted two... Bowl 1 was missing Korean bbq pork. It's hard to say if the spices were correct by neither garlic nor ginger was detected in Bowl 2 as ordered. Also the sauces were swapped. The orange sauce ordered in Bowl 1 was in Bowl 2 and the chili oil/dragon sauce requested in Bowl 2 was found in Bowl 1. Lastly, the toppings ordered in both bowls were missing. I have had too many good in-person dining experiences for me to stop eating here. However, I have little confidence in ordering food to-go in the future. I like Genghis Grill because it's a place where you can choose everything that goes into your food. I've been a picky eater most of my life and although I've done a lot to branch out into new foods over the past few years, there are still things I don't want in my food. Genghis Grill gives you complete control over your food like you could never get at a normal restaurant. It's also fun because the "menu" is endless due to the many combinations and the flavors available. They have many protein options from seafood to beef to chicken and pork, then many vegetables, seasonings and sauces. They also allow you to choose a pasta/rice of your choice. All of this is mixed together on a large flat grill and then served at your table. I've tried to get something new and different every time I go, and although it's not the best food you can get for the price range (About $9 a bowl) it's something fun and unique to do. read more

I've been a customer for many years now (at least 10 and probably longer) eating at this Frisco location and others like down in Addison.  I always order a large bowl with an egg and a soft drink.  I then go through the line getting my protein, spices, and vegetables.  If I had some room left at the top of my large bowl and there is no one in line behind me I like to go back to the protein section to top off by bowl with some more sausages which is my favorite and taste really, really good! I have been doing this for many years with no problem but today I am told not so nicely that I can no longer go back in line to the protein section.  When I asked why I was told it was to prevent people from running into each other.  I looked around and since I was the only one in line this was obviously a poor excuse for some other reason!  When I said there was no one behind me I was told that does not matter and that I am not allowed to go back to the protein section.  I ask if there was a sign or anything informing of this and sure enough, there is a crudely printed sign taped to the railing opposite of the menu suggestions board (which to me would see to be a more logical place to put such a sign).  Also, no mention was made of this new policy by the server when taking my order. I guess if you missed adding a spice and you are at the vegetable station you are out of luck as you cannot go back in line to the spice station. Obviously this has nothing to do with people running into each other and everything to do with preventing customers from adding extra oh so expensive proteins to a bowl.  This is in addition to the prices that keep going up & up (medium bowl used to be less than $12 but is now almost $16 which is an inflationary 33% increase), eggs that used to be free now costing 49 cents each, and the size of the bowl getting smaller and smaller (the size of a medium bowl a year or two ago is now the size of the large bowl). I can only think this is yet another ridiculously cheap cost cutting measure that management or ownership thinks that customers are too dumb to notice. Customers are smart, this bs is noticed which tends to only drive customers away, which results in less revenue, which leads to more cost cutting, which drives what few remaining customers away, and the restaurant then goes out of business.  Sadly, I think this is the death spiral trend now for Genghis Grill as I doubt if they will be around for more than another year or two at most as they drive their customers away and become more & more unprofitable. For me getting scolded by the line police was the last straw.  I will be deleting my Genghis Grill account, unsubscribing from their emails, deleting their app on my cell phone, and will take my business elsewhere, specifically, the Chinese buffet down the street where I am 100% certain I won't get scolded like a child for adding more protein to my plate.  Yes, I know, missing $600 revenue per year from me (twice a month at $25 for a large bowl, egg, and soft drink) will probably not be missed much but enough is enough.  Customers need to draw a line somewhere and I have decided to draw mine here. So, one star for the food (it really is good even though now way overpriced for what you get and no longer worthwhile) and one star for the table servers (always attentive and nice) but that is it.  After over 10 years all I can say is "Good bye and good luck Genghis Grill... you will most certainly need it.  I hope losing a loyal long time repeating $600 a year customer over adding about 25 cents of sausage to his large bowl was worth it.". read more

If you're familiar with this concept, you know that your meals here are usually what you make of them. Make bad choices, and you'll end up with a funky bowl. The "chefs" really just cook whatever you've created. So, how to rate such a place? Quality of ingredients is obviously key here, and on two visits, this place is doing pretty good in this area. The meats seemed fresh and plentiful, and the vegetables were crisp, well cut/chopped, with little signs of withering or other unfreshness. The line is a little cramped here, those who are mobility impaired should be careful negotiating. The area around the food was a little unkempt, but the counters where the handoff of the ingredients occurred seemed clean. Floors could have used a little more cleaning, though, and as others have mentioned, some of the seating needs some work. Don't forget to choose your starch at the end; with the bigger bowls, you can get more than one. I usually just stick with tortillas so that I can control the carb intake. The small bowl comes with one starch, and while it looks REALLY small, if you pack it right and get a starch such as rice, it makes quite a good sized bowl. Sadly, I have to concur with my fellow reviewers that it's not the food, but the atmosphere that's holding this location back. We ordered online due to COVID, got home to be severely disappointed by our meal. It had NONE of the veggies listed in our receipt (except for ONE single broccoli floret in each bowl). It's been a while since we've been so disappointed by a meal, every bowl we ordered (4 of them) was missing multiple things. I guess if you're going to order, go in there and make your own bowl so you get your money's worth since they can't seem to be able to follow the ingredients list and add everything. My husband ordered the small bowl and I ordered a chef bowl. Hadn't been to Genghis grill for some time. The small bowl was smaller than my cat's dish, so you can't put much in it. Anyway, my husbands food came, and my bowl was brought a few minutes later, but was the wrong bowl. Waitress put my order in again. Husband finished eating and I still hadn't got mine. Called waitress over and she put the order in again. When it was ready she asked me if I wanted it to go since my husband had already finished his meal. I felt like we were being kicked out. I asked for a discount and the manager gave a coupon for a free small bowl for the next time we came back and expiration date was in one week. I passed the coupon to the table next to me and told them to use it, as we will not return. read more

Food is ok. Pretty crowded for Friday lunch at noon. Get the regular bowl. Key is to wait for no one in line and put the veggies on the bottom first then top it off with the meats of your choice. Food came out fairly quick and tasted as expected. Usually the beef will get over cooked so just FYI. The presentation of the store could be better. You can feel the floor is oily and slippery. I hadn't been to a Genghis Grill in several years and never to this location before but it was a nice surprise. They are in a strip mall area with lot's of parking and near 121. They have a large selection of all kinds of meats and seafood. They even had different kinds of marinated beef and pork. Their veggie selection is fairly good. Like any place similar to this they also have a good selection of spices and sauces you can have them serve with the meal. You also get to pick out carbs if you want like different kinds of rice or noodles etc. I went with the fried rice and with a fresh fried egg. You get the meal either a small, regular or large bowl. I went with the regular bowl which was big. I was stuffed after I finished the meal. The waiter was good, he came by regularly and checked on us and we never had to wait to get our drinks refilled before we ran out. read more

Came here for dinner on a weekend, and it was crowded, but there was no wait, which is a lot better than many of the chain restaurants in the area. Parking close was tough. This is essentially a Mongolian grill type of place. The bowls come in a variety of sizes. I wish it were weighed by the pound though, instead of preset prices. I stuffed my bowl with tons of meat and was saving room for my carb, but afterwards realized that you don't need to save room, as they will just throw it on top for you. Another tip is to go easy on the sauce. They are very rich and you will need less than you think. I love that they have rice crackers and sesame for your seasoning pleasure after you get your bowl. The service is very friendly and I would recommend this place for families as it is fun for the kids to watch them cook your bowl. read more

We had a pretty good time at Genghis Grill and received good service, fresh food and a clean new environment. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, a little more teamwork would have made them seem more attentive. We were there at 9pm, so I'm guessing they were getting tired and winding down their shift. My food was tasty, though keep in mind that the concept here is that you pick the ingredients - they cook it! This makes dining a little more interactive and exciting. But the chefs did cook the food perfectly, so that's always a plus. I'd give it more stars except for some minor complaints: - I think their prices are about 20% too high. At $8 a bowl I'd probably be a regular, but at $10 it opens up questions about alternatives. ($13 for all you can eat.) - My wife got an upset stomach that evening, and having eaten nothing else we know it was related. We just don't know why. - Some of the fun of a Mongolian grill is congregating around the grill and watching the grill-masters do their thing. But that's not how Ghengis is set up. You drop off your food and sit down. This means you miss out on most of the fun of watching them perform. All in all, I'd have returned, except for the fact that one of us got ill. read more

The food was pretty good but the service and organization of the restaurant could have been much better. I have been to Genghis Grill before but I just ordered off the menu. This time I wanted to make my own bowl. There were many opportunities for this to have been a much more organized and easier process. 1. When we walked in the host just seated us, he didn't ask if we had been there before or explain anything to us. 2. We sat at the bar and the bartender DID ask but all he explained to us was that we needed to give our card to the person who cooks the food so they could have it delivered back to us. 3. When we got in line there was a woman at the "choose your protein" section for about 2 seconds before she just left us without asking anything other than what size bowl we wanted. 4. The same woman passed by us a few times while we were SO obviously confused at the sauce section. She didn't say anything to us until we were almost completely done. The sauce cups were over by the veggies and I had never made my own bowl before so I mixed the sauce in with my meat and veggies. AFTER I was done she walked over and handed me a sauce cup. I told her I didn't need it because I put the sauce in the bowl. She said OH! And then made a face like "oh crap, you really messed up". So I asked if I messed up and needed to start over. She just said no and walked away.... So at this point of course I felt like a complete idiot. 5. The cook at the end was actually really nice and helpful. He explained all of the options that were at his point in the process so I wouldn't consider this an opportunity for improvement really. 6. After everything was done and we got our food a couple of the bartenders asked how we were doing with their backs turned to us while they used the register or as they walked by and didn't wait for our answer. I really like this location, especially since the remodel. Looks very clean now (not to say it wasn't before). I love that you get to make your own bowl with the options that you would like. The staff is always friendly. The options for the food selection are great. Meat looks fresh, vegetables are fresh as well. I love to come here when I have coupons. Coupons give you options for larger bowls for the smaller bowl price. I have been here four times, will be five by the time this day is over, and I have no complaints. It's not self-service because of covid, but the serving guy didn't really listen and accidentally got our bowls mixed up while adding ingredients. The service was terrible with no drink refills and I had to grab the last bowl off the counter because my husband had been waiting to eat. SAD! This must be the end of Genghis Grill, it's like the owner/management are just waiting for this location to close. The inside is run down rips in the seats, employees on there phones. Not even sure why I tipped my waiter, not like his service was amazing. We walked in the restaurant was almost empty with two staff behind the food counter. Another man walked out probably the manager either did not see us or just figured they can wait. The meats looked fresh along with the vegetables. Counters where as clean as possible. The meal was good service slow. The one in Plano is closed I assume this one is life support. The other location in Plano off of 75 sucks. So that is the end of Mongolian BBQ in the area. It was pretty good. We are here on a Sunday and the bowls were $12.50 each for the regular size.You sit down first,and a server comes by then you are given your bowl and expected to make your meal!
