I don't know why the ratings are so low here. You pretty much make your own food, pick your own food, put it in a bowl yourself. This place has consistently been going down hill. Everything seemed dirty with the food appearing not very appetizing. The steak was a dark brown spoiled looking blob. The best part of the meal was the surprise we didn't get sick. The prices seem to be getting higher with the portion sizes getting smaller. I think we have gone for our last time. Too bad. read more

So I stopped going to the ghengis grill in Addison after some stuff from the ceiling leaked on me while preparing my food and decided to give this one a try. My visit started off well but when I got my bowl and went to grab the meat there was a terrible odor. A lot of the red meats were brown like they'd been sitting there since opening. I stayed away from those and stuck with the chicken. After my food was made the waiter talked me into a margarita (good customer service) however the margarita itself was terrible. It's like he used a syrup to make it and gave too many pumps. The food was good, but I had to send the drink back. With the browning meat and terrible smell I can't say I'll be back to this location either. read more

I've been here twice during lunch time. They can get busy during the lunch rush hour just an FYI. Customer service is really friendly. I have ordered the medium size bowls but never get my moneys worth. I always see people getting a small and filling their bowls up like a mountain. The idea of it is you choose the size of your bowl and pay the standard size and you could put as much in your bowl as you want with no extra charge. When standing in line they have a variety food (protein, vegetables, sauce, etc). When you get to the end you have an option to pick your starch such as noodles or rice and they mix it all together and cook it for you. Interesting concept. I recommend it! read more

If I could leave Zero stars I would... the rice wasn't cooked properly it was still hard, the add ons were over cooked and over seasoned. Food was great!! We had a party of 12 and they made sure we had every thing we needed. Our waiter was Quincy, he did an excellent job of taking orders and delivering food/drinks. As always, the service is terrible. I have to give it a try about every six months and they have yet to meet my lowered expectations. Today they claimed to have two servers and a manager to handle the lunch crowd. I do not have a PhD in mathematics, but I counted a manager, asst manager, four servers, a busboy, and two hostesses all moving in sssslllllooooowwwww motion. They bussed one table in 25 minutes of waiting to be seated, delivered food to five people, and stood around looking helpless the rest of the time. They need to hot on the grill and light a fire under their collective butts. No idea why the location is so much worse than the others, but I think this may have been the last chance for them. read more

Went here during lunchtime on a Sunday with Ash M. It was a toss up between Thai Frisco and this place apparently. Went into Thai Frisco, saw the menu(seems kinda odd compared to 99% of other thai places i've been to.. just wasn't feeling it) saw the prices, interior, and was like uhhh, lets go for some value menu stuff today, and went to check out Genghis Grill instead. They had a 7$+1$ for unlimited bowls deal going on (probably the usual fare actually). So we go in, get seated, get our drinks, get our bowls, head down to the line. On the way to the line, you can select some cards for like a heads up on how to build your bowl.. some of the cards were missing though I did'nt see the korean/seoul one but whatever, First one I tried was the buddhist bowl, basically like tofu/ in this tangy honey mustard glaze sauce, with a buncha veggies and 1 egg(shoulda put like 2-3 eggs) and some fried rice.. I made sure to pile up with like at least like 2-3 spoonfuls of the spice flavoring.. (it was badass). On my 2nd run , tried the Mongolian BBQ, with some beef/steak/tofu for proteins, and then some bamboo shoots/sprouts/some other veggies and mongo beef sauce, with 2 eggs.. Was pretty decent. Alot better than I was expecting, after hindsight i'd probably give this place a 3.3 or so... I'm kinda :/ when it comes to a bunch of raw meat left out, and like.. people sneezing over it and stuff. But once u get past that, and get your grub on, its not too bad. OHHHHH. one last thing If you have like 15 people ahead of you, they'll give you a number.. you SHOULD be able to just go back to your seat, and put the number in the lil holster thing.. we were idiots and waited by the grill the 1st time around. That was alot of waiting, the waiters probably didn't say anything cause they probably thought that.. we were excited to watch these peeps make our food or something... understandable. read more

I've been to this Genghis Grill about a half dozen times, and I have not been disappointed once. For those who don't know what Genghis Grill is, it is a mid grade Mongolian BBQ Chain. What this means is that you get to select your meats, vegetables, spices and sauces which are cooked for you on a flat top grill by a team of Chefs. When your meal is ready, the top you off with a "starch" of your choice and your're good to go. There are a couple reasons I call Genghis Grill mid grade is mostly due to two reasons. First, there aren't as many topping as you would get from some of the higher end. This doesn't mean you'll be getting lower quality food, or poor choices. It just means that you get only about 80% of the choices you would at a high end joint. Secondly, you get a little more flexibility. Many of the higher end establishments set a single price and only allow you to have unlimited meals. Genghis breaks this mold by offering less hungry and more money conscious customers the ability to pay less for a single bowl. This is ideal for quick afternoon lunch break from the office, or maybe the pre-movie meal. Regardless, the Staff at Genghis Grill has always been phenomenal. For those first timers, they are always happy to lend their assistance and explain the whole process. If there are any issues, they're always happy to resolve them without much fuss. They have never lost my meal, and any time my "starch" wasn't included as it should, they were able to quickly bring it to me. So while Genghis Grill may not be the best Mongolian BBQ out there, it sure has a lot going for it. They have a great selection, excellent staff, and a very good price behind them. Anyone looking to be their own Chef can do so, without having to spend every penny in their pocket. If you've never been to a Mongolian BBQ before, Genghis Grill is a good place for a first time. Then maybe you can move to the Big Leagues, but every now and again, it's good to visit the Minors. read more

If there's one thing that's always consistent about my family going out to eat, it's the fact that we can never agree on a place to go. We came here on a Sunday around 1:00pm. This was not our first, second, or third choice for lunch, but it was the restaurant we ended up at because no other restaurant could get us in and out in time to make our other commitments for the day. The staff was friendly, but the restaurant was well below par. The tables were sticky. The chairs looked like they were falling apart. The items in the bar looked like they had been sitting out for quite some time. The wastebasket in the women's restroom had also fallen off the wall, leaving the contents scattered all over the floor... keeping my food down after that was a miracle in itself. Nothing hits the spot like a well prepared bowl of Genghis! I get the regular bowl everytime, and it's enough for me to split and take home as an additional meal - which is awesome. I get cabbage in my bowl, instead of any starches -- and it's a delicious way to enjoy a low carb meal. Service can be hit or miss, depending on who you get... but ask for Trey or Robert and I promise you won't be disappointed. I frequent this place entirely way too often & they are my go to guys. Is it just me or does the small and medium bowl appear to be the exact same size but shaped differently! My other issue is that I got dry and overcooked food. I used ginger water, dragon and sweet n sour but it was not great. The place is confusing and although I found the employees nice there was zero leadership so you sort of felt unwelcome when trying to get to the line deal. Odd set up. read more

I want to like this place because I've been to two really great mongolian barbeques that aren't chains, and would really love to find a place nearby that's good. The spices are whatever, the sauces aren't that great. I've had the food twice here, and despite not having a sensitive stomach or any real food allergies (that I know of), I can guarantee a lovely evening spending quite a bit of time in the bathroom. I don't have anything against the restaurant-- the people are friendly and the place seems clean, not to mention semi-fast service. It just doesn't work for me. Ate here for the first time last night with my cousin, who is also a big meat fan and hadn't been here either, and we were both very satisfied and impressed with the food, the staff, and the place! Our waitress Amber was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive - my glass was never less than half full before she would offer to bring me another drink IN A NEW GLASS (love that!). They had 15 or so types of meat, and you can fill your bowl completely with just meat if you so desire (they don't mind what you want to cook, as long as it fits in the bowl). Tons of sauces, spices, and veggies, too. We sat while they grilled our food, and it didn't even take 10 mins before I was enjoying my well-grilled meal! A wonderful chocolate cake w/ vanilla uice cream completed my meal, and Amber took the time to make a wonderful design with the chocolate sauces on it. This is my second time at this location. The first time I went, the waitress we got was behaving rudely (I'm guessing because we only ordered one entree during lunch between me and my sister). We don't eat that much and we were not even able to finish that one entree so why should I have to order two and have to throw food away? She never stopped by after giving us our waters. Both times I went, the selections of meat were not as good as some of the other genghis grill locations. Lastly, their dessert is horrible! The brownie cost $6 and it didn't come with ice cream. You have to pay $1 for each extra scoop of ice cream. The brownies were literally the worst brownies I ever had....they tasted days old and the outside tasted way over cooked. For $8 it was a total rip off.. I would definetly NOT reccomend getting a dessert from this place. read more

Beyond upset with my experience here today. I've had up and downs with this particular location but this time is by far the worst. I will not be returning to this location/possibly to another Genghis Grill with how upset I am. First the wait to get drink orders/your order paper was ridiculous. Then I go to make my Bowl and they refused to start with the vegetables and said if I didn't start with meat then I wouldn't get any. I'm already upset and that was the cherry on the top! Literally sitting here typing this waiting for my friends to get their Bowls. I'm fuming! We literally called ahead of time today about THIS exact thing and over the phone was told that we could make our Bowls however we wanted but that their Staff would have to be the ones to do it. Couldn't be more dissatisfied with my first ever trip to this franchise. The shrimp seemed to be absolutely rancid. And the staff was pretty short and unwilling to explain things even when saying it was out first time. To top it all off the person who was on the grill making our food was not wearing they're mask and sneezed in their hand in the middle of making our food. It was pretty bad and the experience we got did not match the price we paid. I frequently have better service and food at McDonald's or Wendy's just to compare. If I could give zero stars, I would. Where to begin. We arrived to an almost empty restaurant and were sat fairly quickly. (This is the Frisco, TX location in Preston Rd.). Here is where it all went downhill. We sat there for maybe 10 minutes while other parties were seated and sent to the line to have their bowls made. We called ahead of time to make sure we were able to have our bowls made the way we like them and were told yes, we would be able to have them made the way we like them. That was not the case when we got to the line and were told we could not have the vegetables added to the bowl first before we had the meat choices added. The manager on duty, who identified herself as Amela, informed us she was the General Manager and we could not have the bowls made the way we normally made them. She had a pretty sour attitude and was not accommodating at all. I understand times are different right now, but you would think they would do all they could to make the customer happy to help keep up business during a time where business is probably down. Extremely disappointed in our experience at this location. We definitely won't be back to that location and probably won't go back to any since this is how you train your employees to treat people. I plan on all if the corporate office next week to speak to someone on the phone about our experience. I've noticed nobody from the restaurant or corporate makes any attempts to comment on any of the reviews on here and that speaks volumes on how you value your clientele. read more

The only reason it's getting any stars is that their food was good. First time here but I understand the premise of a Mongolian Grill. Walking in, there was no one at the front stand, and a giant sign on the wall that said "Start", so we walked up there. We were promptly told to "go find a table and sit down". So we went and sat at a table. She came out and asked us what starch we wanted (?), we asked what the options were since we didn't get a menu or anything. We picked, also gave her our drink order (only options were Water or tea, and our teas had hardly any ice in them) and she told us to take our tickets to the line and give the tickets to them. So we walked up back to the start area, tried handing our tickets to the employees behind the counter and they told us "no, you get those at the end" and they just stared at us, so I asked if we needed to go get them from the end of the line and come back to pick our stuff and they told us no, we get a bowl from them, then they finally walked off and brought us the metal bowls for us to fill. No signs on the glass telling how much you're allowed to pick, not a lot of direction to anything, veggies were split up in two different sections. Then after you fill your bowls and are waiting at the end, no one would say anything but would just stare at us. As a waitress, I give a big grace window at places I've never been but there service here was absolutely terrible. We will never go back to this location, and will probably just find a new Mongolian Grill to try. read more

Not much to say here it's Genghis Grill - The food was ok and it seems they made some changes since I was last here. The ever messy "seasonings" sections now is much cleaner due to tiny measuring spoons. The ingredients offered were the same as normal except I didn't see any shrimp. I will never come here again. It smells like a sewage pipe burst inside, the customer service is horrible, we were checked on once the whole time we were there, and we hadn't even gotten our food yet. We had people in our party waiting 30 minutes for their food. When the issue was brought up to our server Trey, he attributed it to it gets really busy and they cook the meals in batches... We were all in a line and had people 10 bowls back from us getting their food 15-20 minutes before us. I will never recommend anyone to come here I am also going to email the general manager about how the service is and how their staff is so confused about what was going on they just got lost and had no direction I don't see how a 3-5 minute to cook meal (when your cooking 6 -8 meals at a time) as most Mongolian BBQ restaurants do, can take 30-45 min to come to your table. This could have been remedied if their staff would have taken the time to check on their patrons, and help. They never even offered to refill our water, because he never came to check on us. read more

Had an early dinner here yesterday, I've never been to Ghengis grill but I had eaten at BD's so I am familiar with the concept. The service was quick and the waiter was all set to explain how everything worked if we didn't get it. I collected a hearty bowl full of veggies, and after sampling several of the sauces got my spicy peanut sauce, and picked the Udon noodles. I enjoyed my meal, and I'm happy to go back. Only bad thing was the floor was kind of dirty, and that bothers me. They weren't that busy so they could have had the floor swept up. I almost busted it on a rogue potatoe that someone dropped on the floor. Not cool. read more

My wife daughter and I stopped into this restaurant for lunch. We were extremely disappointed as our previous experience had been a positive one. My first issue was with the cleanliness of the restaurant; dirty empty bowls on tables, dirty plastic cups on tables, chopstick wrappers on tabes and straw wrappers on the floor. Also, we were not told that if we ordered the regular bowls we get to choose two sides and it wasn't until after our food was cooked that my wife and I noticed the sign indicating such. Finally, the price is outrageous for the portion sized given. We ordered two regular size bowls w/ water and a burger with a Sprite. The total bill was $37.35 and with a $5 tip came out to $42.35 and we had no leftovers to take home. Your prices are ridiculous. And for these reasons we will not be back. After being a big fan of Genghis Grill initially, I am consistently disappointed in the Frisco location. Sunday afternoon at 2pm it wasn't very busy but the wait staff was very slow and not very attentive. Our food came out a little slow and when it did, one of the bowls was slathered in cold udon noodles. I was the waitress to throw it back on the grill specifically for "one or two minutes" and 9 minutes later I was flagging our waitress down asking about my food. As I feared, everything cooked to a blackened mess. I just wanted warm noodles. Im not sure how many more chances I will give this location. read more

Wretched customer service and clueless management. My husband was having a business lunch here and I met them to drop off a Christmas gift for his office. GM comes over and confronts me, doesn't even take 2 seconds to inquire about the situation -- just launches straight into "Ma'am, I'm sorry but we don't allow soliciting in the restaurant." I couldn't believe what I was hearing and was totally sure I had misheard, so I said, "Excuse me?" He repeated "we don't allow soliciting in the restaurant" and asked me to leave. Let me be clear in case you don't understand the picture I am drawing: In front of my husband... and his colleague... who are dining (yes, paying customers in the middle of their meal)... and without so much as a "hello, is everything okay here?"... the manager accuses me publicly of soliciting to customers like some kind of hobo and asks me to leave the building. When I instantly explain that this table of customers includes my HUSBAND, this guy then shrugs it off with "oh, well, someone told me you were soliciting at this table." And by now the whole dining room is watching. Dude, I don't care who "told" you. You are the one in the wrong and trying to humiliate me. You own the recovery. Listen, I work with lots of hospitality people and I dine out a lot. I know brands aren't getting the cream of the crop in fast-casual management, especially considering the current resto labor shortage. But this was a pretty ridiculous and needless gaffe, and made a front-and-center display of a GM with zero table skills and less than zero guest recovery skills. See ya, Genghis Grill. read more
