As a newbie, I found it confusing. I wish they had a few recipe options. They were out of a few proteins. My husband was looking for the shrimp but there wasn't any. The guys doing the cooking were nice enough to stop us and tell us that we needed to order sides (rice, noodles,etc). Our server was nice and efficient. My meal was surprisingly tasty in spite of me not knowing what I was doing. If you are at home in the kitchen and familiar with spices and seasonings that go together this would be a walk in the park. Those of us that aren't fond of cooking can get a little stressed. We'll go again and I'll probably stick with what I know works. Hubby was happy with his, just add sweet and sour and he's good to go. read more

Absolutely horrendous. Grotesque. A travesty. These are all words I would use to describe my experience at this Genghis Grill tonight. I'm usually one to take a laid back approach to yelp reviews but honestly, there's no humor to be had in this one. This was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've had in years. My wife and I went to dine at this location and when we arrived, there were about five other tables already seated. Not a busy night. We waited so long to be greeted and get a table, we considered leaving right then and there. I wish we would have had the foresight--it would have saved us from what ensued once we sat down. Let me set the scene for you first. There were about 12 employees, wait staff and cooks included. And there is no exaggeration when I say every single one of them was running around looking completely frantic and frazzled, totally lost and confused. They were sweaty. They were huffing. They were loudly rolling their eyes at each other, complaining about their tables, and repeatedly physically knocking into each other like a horde of angry bumper cars. Two tables next to us we're trying to flag a server down to let them know they were missing part of their meals. No one came to our table to wait on us, so we also attempted to flag someone down after ten minutes. She showed up to the side of our table panting and wiping her hands all over her face and said, "Drinks?" We ordered our drinks. Six tables around us were dirty, with plates of food stacked high on top of one another. Food all over the tables. Spills everywhere. But nothing could have prepared us for the ghastly sight ahead. The food bar was a nightmare of incredible proportions. Half of the vegetable tins were completely empty of their ingredients and the other half were bordering on a health hazard. How, do you ask? Let me count thy ways. Broccoli was swimming in the same water as other soggy vegetables. Yes, you read right. Broccoli. Doing a verb. Swimming. In a tub of water. Of soggy vegetables. I almost turned around and left right there, but we had been waiting so long I just avoided this situation altogether and alerted a cook behind the bar. Zucchini was mixed into the corn tin. Onions were peppered into in the pineapple tin. Basically, every vegetable was commingling with its neighbors and it was a disgusting display. Not to mention, vegetables all over the floor and bar--so many that I was literally stepping on and crunching them with my shoe as I walked. And above all, there were raw chicken pieces strewn across the counter, leaving a streak of slime around them. I put only three ingredients in my bowl and moved along, trying to get through this crime scene as quickly as possible. That's when I got to the sauce side of the bar. It was HORRIFYING. A battle scene. Sauces were spilling into one another, all over the counter and dripping down from the counters and onto the floors. It was the spitting image of a Jackson Pollock painting and no, that is not a good thing when you're talking about a restaurant's food selections. But because I had very few vegetables due to the scene at the food bar, I put extra sauce since I was inevitably going to be eating mostly rice for dinner. We got to the end of the line and the cook said our server didn't give us our order slip, so it took about 8 minutes for them to sort that out while we just stood there waiting with our bowls. When we returned to the table, our drinks still weren't there. We waited another ten minutes and they had still yet to arrive, but we couldn't find our server, so I went to the restroom while waiting. The door to the men's restroom was wide open and I could see the dirty urinal from the hallway. The women's bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor and who do I find inside the bathroom texting and laughing to herself? Our server. To say at this point that I had lost my appetite is perhaps the heaviest understatement of my life. Our server came out of the bathroom, we reminded her about the drinks. She brought them and said, "I don't know which is which. I almost forgot the f****** straws!" There are no words. Honestly, really, just no words. My food came 8 minutes before my wife's and I had no silverware to eat it with. I asked three servers and waited until one decided this was something to act on. My bowl was cold. The sauce was included not mixed in. My rice choice as incorrect. It was literally a bowl of cold, naked rice with carrots and mushrooms that I paid $14 for. Please yelpers, spare yourselves. You may think that you can trust a chain like Genghis, but this location has some serious management issues and it shows in every little detail of this dirty and disgusting experience. And if this review doesn't make you want to call the Health Inspection department, please reconsider. read more

Stopped in today for the first time for lunch after Church with my husband. You can pick from Small, Regular or Large bowls. You pick your vegetables and protein and sauces down an assembly line and at the end they give you a choice of two carbs. White rice, fried rice, noodles and a couple of other choices that I can not remember. They cook it for you on top of huge grill and bring it to you table. OK-I have eaten at similar type of food places like this. This one really lacked in flavor and was a bit messy and they were almost of out chicken. It was average at best. The sauces that make the dish were OK in flavor. Highlight was our server was a very polite and nice. Probably will not go back. read more

My wife wanted me to try this place. She had been there before and knew how everything worked. I am sure people are lost if they are not told what to do. The waitress handed us our metal bowl and metal sauce cup. You pick your meat first. They were out of regular chicken so I took some Sriracha chicken. some spicy pork and sirloin meat. i was disappointed in the vegetable selections. Very limited. They did not even have fresh ginger. The sauces were good. At the end you get your choice of rice, noodles or udon. The udon is ok but they don't give you a lot. We both ordered the regular sized bowl and it was a generous amount. It's been a while since we last went here for dinner. My family and I went yesterday and it was not as pleasant as it use to be. The line to get your food was not maintained. I understand some customers are not the most graceful when getting their items but someone should be cleaning the area periodically. The guys cooking the food should not be wearing "air pods", they should be paying attention to what they are cooking. Our food came out burnt so it was dry and not as tasty. I would rather wait a while for my food to come out good versus the staff being rushed to get it done quickly. Highly recommend the management do some observations. read more

My wife and I enjoy Mongolian grill/bbq when it is done well. The food on your plate is only as good as the freshness of the ingredients. The good thing about this type of restaurant is that you can see the freshness of the ingredients. They definitely failed the test. The ingredients were of 3d quality and something I would have returned to the store. The meat was dried out from being frozen too long and was stringy. The service was almost non-existent at the beginning and only was noticeable when it came close to deciding on how much to tip. Definitely not coming back. read more

One star for decent tasting food when it came out and nice staff. Otherwise it would get zero. I've been to another location where the meat is frozen and covered when you pick the ingredients for your bowl (which the website states the ingredients should be frozen). The meat here was RAW and uncovered, food spilled all over the floor, sticky, and they give you a wet nap after you give them your bowl to cook. Not only is this unsanitary, it's unappealing to a paying customer. Raw meat should be handled with gloves on a clean surface. Secondly, the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in 5 years, and I had to hold my breath to use the restroom. Very disappointed as this is on a nice side of town. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This location is horrible, the food stations is so gross, there is no organization. There were 4 people in our party, two of use got our food within about 15-20 mins and after 45 mins the other two people in our party still had no food. We arrived at approx 1145 there were 4 other people in the restaurant, two of them already had their food. The other table was right before us, one bowl was brought to their table The wife noticed me looking at my food and asked if it was what I ordered because they thought they had someone else food, I said no but they did not add the egg I had to pay extra for. She then told me about her husbands food and actually told me they were just going to leave because this was so ridiculous to be given someone else food and they were afraid they were going to get sick so they said to us they were just going to leave ( the wife had not even received her food yet) We should have done the same. Now the restaurant starts getting busy and other people are receiving their food that came in after us, we have now been there for 45 mins and the other two people at our table still had no food. So I go up to the counter and asked what is taking so long and they start with we are so busy and they are short staffed- I explained again we have been here for 45 mins already and it was not this busy when we arrived. He offered to comp 2 meals and package the food to go. We came to this restaurant to get a good meal and had no problem paying, his attitude was just oh well were short staffed. Which we can understand but that was not the case when we arrived. My husband did not like the tone the owner was talking to me and the owner pointed his finger at him and told him to come to him like he was his employee- my husband did not appreciate that so he asked him what is the problem and that made the owner become so defensive because I think he knew we had every right to be upset and frustrated and offering us free food was not what we were looking for. He then said I will box up this food and you guys can just leave. So I said ok and handed him back the one bowl of the 2 we were waiting on and said box this one then. He then said "Don't tell me what to do" I said did you just not tell me you were going to box this food up? I am giving this back to you to box up - he again said "don't tell me what to do" So I asked the girl at the register to box it up and again he keep saying "don't tell me what to do" I think he was going to cry. Anyways my husband again told him he needed to watch how he talked to me, the owner said then you don't have to pay for anything I will box these 2 bowls up and then I'm telling you to leave. Free food fixes nothing and his attitude was making things worse. We left all the food there and just left. Now about the bathrooms - the men's and women's bathrooms were disgusting- the door was missing in the men's bathroom stall, the sinks and floor were GROSS. This place opens at 11AM - there was no way it was this dirty in that short about of time, I am guessing it is always like this. Save yourself the time and pick somewhere else to eat. read more

questionable freshness... if my son hadn't REALLY wanted to eat here, and we hadn't promised him he could --- we probably would have left upon seeing the food line. it looked HORRIBLE! food spilled all over, mushrooms were turning black and the bamboo shoot mix smelled - lots of liquid like it had been sitting. I checked what we all got, and was thinking the whole time that I shouldn't be letting my family eat here. sauce area was a mess of spills also. the place was otherwise clean, and staff was ok. we were all handed bowls upon walking in the door - no menus - no questions as to what we wanted. we came on kids night - tues kids eat free. I questioned why the bowl my son was given was the same size as ours. only then were we told that he was given an adult bowl. so that was switched out, but we were charged for his meal - so THAT had to be fixed. my son ordered cheesecake for dessert, and it tasted like it had been stored uncovered among other foods and had absorbed some fridge flavors. I don't like restaurants that seem to try bait and switch with kids meals. the waitress also asked whether to bring him a big soda or small soda - kids meal comes with a kids drink - if I'm getting a kids meal, bring me the kids drink. and I didn't speak to management about this - when things are this bad, what's the point? the manager was walking the floor - he couldn't see the shape the food and sauce lines were in? I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. need a new Mongolian grill place to take my son to. read more

I absolutely love this place. You def need to learn the "art" of bowl making. and im a lady and we all need to be classy but DO NOT be afraid to just pile the grub! I suggest getting a starch and once you get your food, get tortillas, cheese, and sour cream to switch it up. fajitas and a great bowl of food? yes. my boyfriend loves this place because of their bottomless bowls. and if you're cool with the servers, they'll even let you take it home. servers are really chill here. be nice and they'll hook it up =) read more

I have always wanted to try this place. I liked the fact that you can get a card and it tells you exactly how to make your bowl. You can load up with whatever you want. I decided on a mix of chicken and pork and added spinach. You had them your bowl and they cook it for you. I do not see what the point it was having waitresses. The lady that served us took our order for pot stickers, but never brought them to the table. We had to ask the other waitress for refills. You would think they would do much better by having this all self serve and do away with the waitresses. I was long finished with my meal when they brought us the pot stickers. They did comp them because it too zoo long. The female waitress that served us seemed nice, but was a little scatter brained. Over all the food was ok. The only thing that was decent about this place was my food. My friend and I came in on Saturday night at about 6:45 and it wasn't very busy so we didn't expect to be here long for take out. We weren't greeted by either the bartender (whom looked at us dead in our face as we walked in) or the host herself. The only reason we knew which way to go was by seeing someone else point us in the right direction. I go to the food line: over half of the protein and spices were out, and the vegetable section didn't look much better. I go to use the bathroom and it was genuinely a hot mess. 2 of the toilets didn't even flush and it was clear no one had done a walk thru of the bathroom in a while. So the wife and I tried this place for the first time tonight. It was great. The idea is easy: get a bowl, fill it with meat/veggies/spices and pick you sauce on the side, give it to the grill master with your choice of carb and enjoy! The choices were all fresh and tasty, cooked quickly and came to our table piping hot. The wait staff was on top of it and we never felt neglected. This was my first visit to genghis grill, and while I really enjoy this style restaurant, unfortunately this experience just wasn't very good. The self serve area where you choose your proteins, wasn't very clean - especially considering how few people were in the restaurant, and the chicken looked a little questionable. The veggies were fairly fresh though, and the sauces were clearly marked. I had steamed and fried rice in my dish, but both were pretty dry. Apparently they used to offer an all you can eat option - that's half the fun of a place like this so you can try different combinations - but now it's one and done. Very friendly and attentive service. The food seems less greasy and healthier, and you get to pick your ingredients and spices. The steak was very tender, the tofu was fresh and tasty, the fish was not fishy at all, and the scallop and calamari were really good. Veggies were fresh, and they had a good selection. So why the 3 stars, you ask? Well, minus 1 star for the dirty cleaning water smell around the bar area, and another cause the food doesn't compel me to come back. I've had great experiences here. I'd like the bowls to be larger, but that would need a higher price - and the prices are agreeable. Actually, I like the idea I get to pick exactly what I want and how much. Not sure what "Dolph M." meant when he said he'd have to pay another $11 for a second time. If I'm not mistaken, they only charge you $1 more for as much as you want with unlimited refills. This is the place you take teen-aged boys who have bottomless stomachs to eat. Despite the fact that it was 6pm, only a couple of other occupied tables when we arrived. After seeing how the prices have gone up and the bowls have gotten smaller, that could be part of it, but the staff could have something to do with it, too. First thing the server asked was if we wanted an appetizer. When we said no, he left without taking a drink order. We finally got that done & then he left again for 10 minutes without leaving us any bowls. Food line was out of beef, spills hadn't been cleaned up, no cups for the peanuts, noodles and other add-ins. No silverware until we asked, no refills until we asked. We even asked another waiter about refills and instead of bringing them he told our waiter, who still took another 5 minutes to bring them. Remember, these 2 people were watching a total of 3 tables between them. The check had to be reprinted because it had something we didn't even order on it. When I got home I realized he had put our meal points on someone else's Khans Klub account. We will never return to this restaurant! I hope the Forum Genghis has better service, because hubby always wants to go here for his birthday. If not, we will be done with Genghis altogether. It's much cheaper to just buy the ingredients we want and make them in our wok at home. Had a great time at this place with friends. Great atmosphere and customer service. Anyways...it was a very upbeat place everyone there was having a good time (including the grill-masters) not too loud not too quiet...just perfect for a weekend night. The food was very fresh with a large variety of ingredients and of course the service was excellent. Mr. S and I LOVE Genghis Grill, but this location was pretty disappointing. For starters, the carrots looked like the person that chopped them did so with their eyes closed. We usually stick to the same ingredients, and we both use chicken as our protein. We both felt like our chicken tasted a little off. The thing that freaked me out most was that Mr. S got a piece of shrimp in his bowl (which he did not put). He was fine with it since he eats seafood but I would have been INCREDIBLY upset if that happened to me since I don't eat seafood. Ordered 2 mediums last night for take out . My girl asked for her order of noodles to be well done CRISPY even . As i m waiting by the grill i asked the first cook to put the noodles on NOW so the can cook longer than usual ......ignored he walk to the other side of the grill and a young girl took over the cooking so i asked her the same . She looked at me and it was like she was deaf ....to make a long story short both orders of noodles went on the grill at the same time ignoring the order of well done and scooped it in the take out dish and when i said i m not taking it like this and she needs to redo the order she actually said NO . Definitely a great place to eat. Can't believe my wife and I have never been here before. Since our first time here about 2 months ago, we've been back about 15-20 more times. They have delicious food and you get to choose what meats and vegetables you want to eat. We always take out, it takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. The food was good. However, customer service was extremely poor. The host asked us for our drink order then told us they would give us our bowls. We waited and no one came to give us bowls so we had to ask for the bowls. When we get to our table the host tells us they are out of fried rice, which we both ordered. We asked for our drinks again. We asked for soy sauce then had to go ask for it from another employee because the host forgot. We had to go to another employee for a drink refill. They seem to have plenty employees who were laughing loud and only two tables had customers. THEN as we pay no one had change so someone went to their car for it. Extremely dissatisfied. read more
