We were in the Rancho area and decided to try Gina's Kitchen after seeing the reviews of 4.7 stars on Yelp. The place was busy with a 40 minute wait, but was less than 20 minutes to be seated. We looked at the menu prior to being seated and most items look good. I ordered chilaquiles divorciados green (9/10) and red (6/10) along with a side of New York steak (8/10). I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and received well done (not thrilled with well done steak), but was good. We also had the chorizo skillet (8/10) and pork chops en salsa verde (7/10). The chorizo skillet was hot when served which is rare at restaurants because typically food is lukewarm. The chorizo skillet a plus if you like your food hot when served. The pork chops en salsa verde were okay, but the papas picante that accompanies the dish were very tasty (would order as a side). Our server was great. Straight from San Diego I needed to run some errands up in LA & came across people on social media recommending this place 1 hr away ! I'm so glad I came here the wait wasn't long , the petite brunette very pretty girl that helped us out was very sweet & helpful recommending things off the menu for my aunt . Besides the great service THE FOOD IS AMAZING ! This spot came up in conversation with my friends last week even though we came back in September. It left a mark on us and I have to share. This spot was actually bomb. We only found ourselves in Rancho Cucamonga to visit Soup and Fresh only to be deterred by the line. If that's you today, come to Gina's. They treated us right. It was an unseasonably hot day (97°) but they made sure we had plenty of water and ice because we inexplicably decided to sit outside. I ordered their skirt steak sandwich and it was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life, my goodness. My friends all loved what they ordered too. Wonderful experience with Marcos as our waiter. We waited an hour and it was worth it. We started with a banana nut muffin with butter and fresh fruit on top. I had chilaquiles divorciados which is two different sauces and toppings for the chilaquiles. The lady next to us said to add the birria as a side for the chilaquiles and she was right. Loved their birria. My hubby had the Pork Chuletas which is marinated pork chops with potatoes and onions. I liked that they had their refried beans in a separate dish so it didn't mix in. We came here when it first opened and the food is still as delicious (if not better) and the service is still great. The French toast is still to die for. The birria grilled cheese was amazing when dipped into the consome. The birria omelet was also amazing (needed a little salt, which we added and it made it pop that much more). We drizzled the consome from the birria grilled cheese over it and made it that much better. Our server, Havana, made the experience very pleasant, answered all our questions, made some very good recommendations, and was very attentive to our needs. Once seated, my wife immediately felt uncomfortable due to how close we were to the next table -- we could have literally shared a plate with the guests beside us. I politely asked if we could move to one of the three larger open tables, but was told those were reserved for parties of four. What frustrated us was that within minutes, two parties of two were seated at those same larger tables -- parties that had arrived after us. At this point, my wife approached you directly to understand the reasoning behind the seating policy. She expressed that while she understood the financial logic of reserving larger tables for bigger groups, that policy was clearly not being applied consistently. We've previously enjoyed dining at Gina's, which is why she felt it was worth bringing to your attention in person. Unfortunately, the way both your hostess and you handled the situation made us feel dismissed rather than heard. The simple act of accommodating our reasonable request -- especially when it was clearly possible -- could have gone a long way. We are declining the offered gift card, as we won't be returning. This isn't about compensation -- it's about how we were made to feel. Watching other guests be given the very accommodation we were denied was disheartening and left a lasting impression.
