I have read every review on here and it amazes me that people are complaining about the 45-60 minute wait time. This is how Chicago style pizza works and anyone who knows food knows that. They warn you when you go in as well as once you get to your table. You can even place your order while you wait so that it is ready when you sit. You have no room to complain about the pizza cook time. So this review will have nothing about the cook time. This review however will talk about the deliciousness of the pizza making it so hard to only give this store a 3 star review. This is easily a 4.5 star pizza but it is coupled with 1.5-2 star service. We walked in about 7 o' clock and had an hour wait. That is about on par with Lou Manalti's in Chicago so I had no issue. There is a perfectly good liquor store right down the strip so that killed off $40 and 30 mins. We decided to hold off ordering our pizza until we sat so that we could do some appetizers. We got our text about the 65 minute mark so it was pretty close to the window. We headed inside to get sat and that is where the issues began. There is 1 counter and about 60 people shoved into the lobby. There is no indication where you need to go and none of the employees standing around felt the need to clarify it for the people waiting. There was a line to the counter with a girl working and a girl standing just behind her to the right not doing anything. We stood in that line for about 10 mins and finally got to be second in line and then someone walked in, right up to the far side of the counter, and the girl standing doing nothing took them to be seated. I had been standing in the wrong line for 10 mins while the girl waiting for us just stood there and did nothing. I was furious. We jumped out of that line and into the right one and the girl took us to be sat. We sat down and waited for about 10-15 additional minutes while the server came out and went to the back about 5 or 6 times. He finally stopped by and we placed an order for garlic bread and a medium Special pizza. The server warned us that the pizza would be 40 mins and we were fine with that. We sat around and typed a few Yelp reviews for other places that we have been in the last few days so the time went quickly. The garlic bread came out in about 20 mins so that was a nice break and had a lot of cheese and a good dipping sauce so that will be a go to in the future. About 60 mins after being sat our pizza came and it looked and smelled amazing. We dug in and were really happy with our choice of dishes. I actually liked the sauce here more than I did from Lou Manalti's in Chicago so that is saying something. Easily a 4 star pizza and worth every minute of the wait. We managed to annihilate half of our medium and planned to take the rest home so we sat and waited for the server to come back by. As we were sitting waiting for the box and check something really weird happened and this is where the 1.5 star customer service really comes in. There was a noise from a table diagonal behind me and all of a sudden I felt something hit the back of my head. I started looking around and found that there was a trail of sauce from that table to our table. They had dropped a ramekin of sauce and it splattered everywhere. I assumed that it was the table that dropped it and we went about cleaning everything up. It was all over the front of my wife's shirt, in my hair, all over the booth seat, back of the booth seats, everywhere. We had to flag down our server and ask for more napkins because it was over everything. We mentioned that we needed more napkins specifically because the sauce was everywhere. I have worked in food before and even if something happened that wasn't my fault I would apologize for it because it happened in my store. This server offered no apologies or even acknowledged that we had sauce everywhere. We cleaned it all up, paid our bill, boxed our pizza, and started to leave. As I got up I actually slipped a little because there was sauce all over the floor and no one had bothered to clean it up. I looked for our server and he was standing with 2 other people talking to each other. Obviously not a priority. I walked past the manager who was talking to the table that dropped the ramekin and heard the manager apologizeing because the server dropped it. At this point I was pretty irritated because not only had we not gotten an apology (not looking for anything free. Just an acknowledgment of our plight) but it was actually an employee that covered us in sauce. This is no way to treat customers and I can't believe that this place will stick around if they don't get their CS issues worked out. I would also think that this would be one of those places that the manager would check on every table. The customers are sitting at their table anywhere from 40-90 mins depending on when they ordered and the manager can't stop by 1 time? Get some signage and some CS training and I will be back. read more

Came in last evening for the first time for a quick bite. It was about 915pm. The gentleman that initially seated us was very polite and asked if we had a preference as to what game we wanted to watch on TV so he knew where to seat us. Boyfriend and I shared the meatball sub and The Italiano sub and washed those down with Bud Light drafts. First I tried the meatball sub. The meatball was about as large as the palm of my hand and very flavorful however there was barely any sauce on it and a small side of sauce. There was a small amount of cheese melted on top which I would have preferred a little bit more. The Italiano not so much. The bread was like a ciabatta which I thought was a little strange for a sub. The meat was very flavorful but would have liked more lettuce and dressing on sub to balance the amount of meat. I did ask for extra oregano, banana peppers, and Italian dressing. They brought out a cup of dressing at my request however it was mostly oil which soaked into the bread. I did not finish eating it gave to my boyfriend. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating and may go back to try something else. I am not a fan of Chicago pizza so that is something I will not try. Love their pizza. I've been there a couple of times while visiting Chicago loved it then I have had it twice since they came to Columbus. I was lucky enough to attend the Yelp elite party prior to them opening it was fantastic. Had a pizza carry out a couple of days ago order on line on Wednesday for pickup on Friday at 11:00 am which was very convenient arrived at 11:05 took me about 10 minutes to get out of there with a delicious, hot deep dish pizza took it to work everyone loved it! I've tried several times and waited 10 minutes and longer every time, and on different days too, and never an answer. Amazing! I wanted to not like it because as a born and raised New Yorker, I feel like I have loyalty to our kind of pizza but this place taught me to love and appreciate NY style and Chicago style. We had the Meat Lovers deep dish and my God was it good. So flavorful, from the meat to the sauce, it was great. Service was excellent too. We also had some wings which were great. I haven't been to Ohio in months and I've been craving it ever since. They ship pizza's but unfortunately don't offer shipping for the meat lovers pie. I need to make a trip to Chicago soon! Having lived in the Chicago area growing up I was so excited Giordano's came to Columbus, as it's my favorite pizza...and I was heartbroken with how awful we were treated. Of all the places I have ever eaten, whether it be a five-star restaurant or a hotdog vendor at 3am in NYC, I've never witnessed such atrocious service or how unprepared an establishment , let alone a Chain can run...until Giordano's in Polaris... Knowing that it was busy, I called ahead. Waste of time. Nobody answers, as you're put on hold and feel your spirit leaving your body. Tried to order online. Complete poop. By that I mean the site kept kicking me off. So I tried calling again, to order a pickup. Fiiiiinally someone answers! Yes! Wroooong. They tell me that they'll patch me through to the To-Go line. I'm on hold again. Again my spirit leaves my body while waiting forever. I decide, "hey, it's only 1:30pm, why don't we just go see what the trouble is and eat in"?... We get there, and to my shock, it's not packed. Slightly busy, sure, but not what I was expecting. I get to the front counter, to my surprise, there is a 1hr wait. Perplexed, I looked around to the open tables( counted four) and the whole patio that was empty (which I took a photo of). I asked to a very annoyed and rude..."worker?", if this was common. Her reply was, "maybe try to get something to go"? Lol. "Suuuuuure," I replied. I go to place an order for pick up, to-go, whaaaatever. The next "employee" I talk to asks why I didn't just call in and place an order or order off their site. HA!!! I felt like I was in a scene similar to "Who's on First"!!! Pizza was ok. Service was lacking quite a bit. Place was empty so we were seated right away when someone noticed us standing at the counter waiting. They don't have menus just the QR code's. The menu that popped up wasn't accurate with what was available. As for the food,the salad we shared was good. The pizza was made wrong. We ordered the deep dish meat pizza and mushrooms. We got the that plus banana peppers. My wife hates them so it was kind of a big deal. At first we found one, then by the time we had finished eaten we found almost a small handful. When I asked the waiter about it, his response was someone probably made it wrong and didn't pick them all out? And that was it, ignored it the rest of the time. Made sure to leave the pile of them in the tray. If not for the 45 min wait on a pizza we definitely would of made him remake one or walked out. So this is a pizza joint, nothing epic. But customer service needs attention also their attention to detail. UPDATE.. The assistant manager Jason personally reached out to me to review what happened. This in itself says a lot about an establishment. The willingness to correct the issues and make this a learning experience is how a good place becomes great. Wife and I decided to try them for lunch to see what all the fuss was about. We didnt want to wait the 45 minutes they said it would take for a full large pie, so we both ordered individual ones. The flavor was good, but my opinion was that there was too much sauce. Crust was also good at first, but once you get to the end it becomes dry and breaks apart like a desert pie crust would. After having fond memories of the Giordano's in Chicago I was thrilled to see one open here. How shall I say this.... the thrill is gone! They are still suffering from growing/opening pains. We were seated and told by another server who seemed to be doing his job well that someone else had this side of the room. Guy comes up to take our orders and is so flustered by doing it. They all have these iPad type things to place your orders and he was a bit fumble fingered doing it. First we got the wrong salad then we got a salad but not the wings. Up front we were told pizza would take 45 minutes even though they have a fast lunch pizza menu; basically cheese, pepperoni and sausage. Our server was like a ghost - there then totally gone. He told us he worked the bar but was told to help out in the dining area. Finally got the pizza and could barely eat it. It was done around the outside but still gooey (as in you cook a cake and it's done but not in the center) mostly on the inside. Spoke to management about it and he seemed overwhelmed trying to run things. He offered to make a new pizza but after having been there for an hour already was not in the mood to wait longer. This is my first yelp review. I am so annoyed that I feel compelled to share. Disgusting customer service at Columbus location! This location clearly doesn't know how to handle an opening. Here's my experience: I called to make a pick up order. The call lasted 18 minutes and all I wanted was a medium deep dish veggie pizza. I was told they r backed up and I could collect the pizza on the evening of next day. We go in next day after a 20 min drive at the designated time and they cannot find the order. To top it, they are rude, dismissive and have charged my card when I placed the order on the phone on the previous day. They could have said "we have charged your card, so looks like u did order. One of the most unorganized unprepared establishment I've ever tried to go to. The first day we tried their online ordering was not working properly. So we decided to give them a call to put in the order. After being on hold for nearly an hour with no answer we decided to just drive there. The female staff at the front desk was extremely rude and unwelcoming. As I looked around the place there were about five tables dirty and about 15 people waiting at the door to put in orders and be seated. Everyone was told the wait would be about an hour and a half even though tables were empty. So now comes to today. Online ordering still not working correctly. We called to put in an order to eat in. The lady on the phone said she can't take the order and put us on hold for another 20 minutes. Once we finally talk to someone they told us that it would be about a two hour wait to order before. If we came in than only a little over an hour. It's understandable that the pizza takes a while to cook. Their organization is just so unbelievable. But now on to the pizza. If you like deep dish than I'm sure you'll love it. I'm not a fan so I thought it was okay. Just not the best pizza I've ever had. So we visited this restaurant last Saturday and had a very pleasant experience. There were 6 of us who were very eager to give this pace a shot, as most of us had been to one of their Chicago area restaurants in the past and had fond memories of the pizza. We arrived around 5:30pm, as we were hoping to beat the crowds, but the place was packed. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but as we hung out in the bar, it was not a problem. Once seated, the waitress asked if we had already put in our pizza order??? We were confused by this question, but she then added that the front people should have taken our orders, as the pizza can take up to an hour to get prepared and cooked. This showed there was a little disconnect going on, but it ended up not being a problem. My wife and I ordered the All Meat pie (medium) and everyone else went for one of their Classics. We also ordered a House Salad and a Sampler platter, so we would have something to chew on while the pizza was baking. The salad and the platter arrived quickly, along with a second round of drinks and all was good. We kept seeing pizzas go by, hoping one or more would be for us, but they went to other tables filled with happy looking people. After about 30 minutes our pizzas were served up and they looked spectacular. The All Meat one was every bit as good as I remembered and I quickly had 2 slices. Of course, this pizza is very filling, so the rest went home and was happily eaten for lunch the next day. Overall, the restaurant was smaller then I imagined it would be, but very nicely decorated. My visits to Giordano's have been spoiled because they serve their pizza lukewarm, while I like it hot. The first two times I complained and they credited me the cost of the pizza - so kudos to them for that. The third time I gave up and ate the barely warm pizza. This was my first visit to this location. I was in Chicago a few months ago and ate at the Giordanos there. On a Wednesday around 5pm there was really no waiting. We ordered mozzarella triangles while we waited on the pizza. We were told it would be an hour and a half for the pizza to cook. It was out in about 55min. I think they say it takes longer so when it comes out early, you feel like they hurried for you. In Chicago it took 40-45 min. Not sure why it would take a pizza to cook for more than an hour. Starting my review before the pizza comes out from the kitchen! Plan 45 min or longer because Chicago Deep Dish takes time. "Stuffed Crust" is not Pizza Hut, it's literally ingredients stuffed between bottom and top crust: Think an actual PIE but with pizza ingredients. If you baked a pie from scratch at home it would take time. It's no different here. Whew! So, onto my review. For those of you who are uninitiated into Chicago eating its all about comfort for those cold winters. I encourage you to try the Italian beef sandwich. I love cheese so asked for provolone and it came melted and partially brown and crispy on the roll ( a soft hoagie style roll). Italian beef is perfectly shaved and cooked with au jus to dip in. If you don't like black pepper, be on notice because the au jus has a lot. I loved it! Peppers come on the side as does giardiniera ( hot pickled peppers with mix of veggies that add crunch and heat). Sandwich comes with sides and we opted for Caesar Salad which was very fresh, tons of shaved parm, cold, lightly dressed and delicious. The Deep Dish: YUM. Sauce is light, not sweet or overly spiced. Sauce is the top layer, by the way, so when it comes out you see the sauce( see photos) . Veggies inside are FRESH. Crust is light also, not buttery or greasy and no cornmeal on the bottom. Think of it as a light holder of the ingredients. We ordered the "Special" sausage was also not overly spiced. I'm very happy and truly looking forward to my next visit. Tastes just like the locations in Chicago! Got delivery and the experience was actually a pleasure. I believe you speak to somebody not at the actual location but at a phone bank, which works incredibly well - no background noise or having to repeat yourself 900 times. For some reason the delivery time was an hour less than if I went there to pick it up, but hey that's OK. Prices are comparable to Mellow Mushroom but it tastes better, and I got to believe the pies they produce will be far more consistent then unfortunately the ones I've received at Mushroom. I can only vouch for the deep dish pizzas. I've never had lunch there but for $7.45 it seems like a real good deal too. read more

Legitimate deep dish pizza on the north end of Ohio's capital. Easily accessible location off of I-71. Expect a LONG wait for your pizza(an hour or more.) If you decide to visit during a busy night then expect another wait for the table. Typical deep dish pizza starts with a layer of crust, then cheese, then "toppings," then sauce. Giordano's stuffs cheese in the entire pizza crust which gives the crust an incredible texture. I have only ever ordered the Chicago Classic and have yet to be dissatified. The Greek salad has a perfect distribution of ingredients and is topped with a healthy portion of feta. read more

Three stars, but with potential to be four or five stars if they make a few improvements. On the service side of things, this branch just opened and it shows. They have lots of little kinks to work out. For example, we were greeted nicely several times but 3 different people asked us how many and if we wanted a booth before a fourth person actually took us to our seats 5 minutes later. They had San Pellegrino water on the menu but were out. The website says they don't open Friday until 4pm, but we arrived 3:55pm and the place was already half full and the sign on the door says 11am. The sound echos a lot against the bare concrete; they need to hang some sound-proofing in their rafters. Again, these are all just little things but they add to the overall experience. On the food side, the menu says expect 35-45 minutes for the deep dish pie. We were told it would actually be more like 55 minutes, so ordered salads to tide us over. Salads were wonderful, and we were fine to wait a long time for them to get the pizza right. So, it was disappointing when the center of the pizza was still cool and the bottom layer of dough was wet. The crust side of the slices were hot and delicious though. I think they need to do some kind center test to be sure it's hot all the way through, and they should probably pre-roast the veggies to burn excess moisture before they bake them in the pizza. Again, the meal was fine. We got a $10 off delivery coupon so I will definitely try again, although I may plan to bake the pizza longer at home to be sure it's really done. I would love to re-review later and be able to report 4 or 5 stars, as I have heard great things about the Chicago branches. read more

Customer service at Columbus location has a lot to be desired. Tried to call to place an order... no luck listened to music for 30 minutes, no message as to their status, etc.. Tried to place an online order, yep you guessed it, site would not take an online order, no message as to why not, nada... So got in the car and drove to place a carryout order to find out they weren't taking carry out orders at ALL, for any day??? But they were still taking names for tables. So, you can get a table, order four pies and then say I'd like them to go, but you can't make a carryout order? Very rude management. The moment this place came to town it was very busy for weeks. My friend and I waited until it cooled down. Service was great and the lady we had as our server was nice. Drinks were getting refilled and we ordered not too long afterwards. My friend got a deep dish pizza with sauce on top and the server gave us a demo about how cheesy the pizza was. One of our absolute must stops in Columbus! My fiance is from Chicago and this brings a little bit of home to him in Ohio. Couldn't be happier that Giordano's deep dish pizza came to Columbus. Tasted just as good as I remembered from Chicago. I ordered the special in small size and it was more than enough for 2 people. Since it just opened, wait time can be up to an hour but totally worth it. The bar has some nice options on tap for while your waiting. He was super helpful and went out of his way to help make sure that we had a great experience. He was extremely patient with our 2 young kids and with it being our first time. I have not visited the restaurant but a friend said they were bringing deep dish pizza over for a game night and I thought no big deal bring whatever-no- it is a big deal. Giordanos is incredible. The thickest, heaviest pizza I've ever had. The pizza itself is perfection. We got a medium, which basically fed three people and two breakfasts worth of food. The salads are great and came with bread. The wait was an hour, and if we don't pre order the pizza, would have taken another hour. Service was spotty. The pizza though, it's worth it. read more

It hurts to post such a low score. I really love giordano's of Chicago. And I can forgive the wait time, because the few times I've been in Chicago, the wait time was long too. Long but worth it. Tonight though? The waitress paid more attention to bigger tables and left us alone for most of the hour and 15 minute wait. When she did look over at us, it was a grimace. When I got my water, it was almost tossed at me. Definitely needs training in customer service. I ordered a Special with garlic added. The pizza was mostly warm. Lukewarm pizza. I had a feeling it had been sitting for a while. The garlic distribution was uneven, so some bites were super garlicky and others were none. Come on guys. You can do much better than that. In Columbus Ohio on a business trip and stopped by one of my favorite Chicago pizza joints and sorry to say that this Giordanos is nothing like the Chicago original deep dish if ever been to the Chicago Giordanos then I wouldn't recommend for any one to go read more
