Here's the thing... I'm a thin cracker crust pizza guy. But every once in awhile I will do the deep dish stuff. And when I do, this is a great place to do it. Pizza tasted just like it did in Chicago. What set the experience apart was the service (our server was Jackie). Our group had just come from winning the regional dodgeball championship and she took care of everyone (we had a group of 20). They say the cream always rises to the top and Jackie definitely rose to the top for us. WE WALKED OUT - a first for us. After sitting 15+ minutes in a booth with my family no one came to the table so we finally left. Sunday evening, the place wasn't even that busy. The waiter looked our way a few times so he knew we were there. He couldn't be bothered. Three (and sometimes more) people were standing around the front hostess station socializing. Yum! Their stuffed crust pizza is as good as I remember it from visits to Chicago in the 70's and 80's. I would give the pizza 10 stars, but the service brings it all down to 3 stars. I expect it's related to it just getting up and running and perhaps not enough staff. My little individual pizza took 1:15 from the time ordered (5:40 pm) to the time delivered! I was prepared for the standard 45 minute time, but not an extra 30 minutes. I could only stay to eat a few bites then had to run. Also, I did not care for the house salad. There was way too much dressing and I didn't like the taste of it. I pushed it away from me (seated at the bar), but no one ever asked if there was a problem. After about 25 minutes I got someone's attention and let them know. All that said, I will definitely go back but try to go at a different time of day. The pizza is worth the wait! When I heard Giordano's Pizza was coming to Columbus, I was more than elated even a little giddy to try it out, since it's the one place I stop whenever I visit Chicago. Now, the restaurant has only been open for a little more than two weeks so I went into my visit knowing may be a little chaotic and not the typical experience I was expecting. We tried to beat the dinner rush by arriving at 4:30pm, but the wait was already two hours. Since our party consisted of two families we decided to find a local park and place a take-out order. There was still a wait of an hour and 15 minutes but that was more manageable. The staff was friendly, but their body language looked tired and stressed. We arrived back at our designated time and there was not problem finding our order. They explained there would be another 10 minute wait or so, and that's about the time we had our food in hand. We served our food about 20 minutes later and was a little disappointed with the appearance and taste. The pizza itself looked wonderful when we opened the box, but as we lifted each slice out the cheese was not melted very well. Now, this could be because our order was not eaten immediately. We also ordered a Tomato Bruschetta and got a large helping of tomatoes, but only four small slices of bread and mozzarella. The large bowl of tomatoes did not seem to match the smaller helpings of cheese and bread. After this experience, I want to give the restaurant itself a chance and see if my food resembles my time in Chicago. I will probably wait month or two to give the restaurant a chance to get into a good rhythm. read more

I originally posted a review back in July about how bad the service was but it mysteriously disappeared. Me and my husband waited an hour & a half for our pizza & the manager gave all kinds of excuses and even tried to argue with me. My review caught another managers attention and she told us to email her which I did. She told me to contact the store manager and I called Giordano's and left a message. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. Not only was our service horrible but we never got a call to make things right so I would appreciate it if someone would finally get this right. When deciding where to get takeout from for a family birthday, I thought, "maybe we will try that Chicago pizza place...". If I could go back in my life and reverse a singular decision, it would have been to never give this place my business. We called the store over 3 hours ahead of time to place our order as advised, them ended up waiting 20 minutes past our quoted wait time and the pizza crust was still undercooked. The excuses were too abundant to itemize. There was just so much ineptitude during our visit, I had to come home, download the app JUST TO LEAVE THIS REVIEW, if that tells you anything. I have seen a lot of responses to other reviews from store management apologizing for other customers poor experiences. Please don't even bother with your lip service apologies for this review, I wouldn't eat this junk again if you paid me. Bottom line - making food on any semblance of a timeline just appears to be too complicated for this place to handle. Wish I read reviews first! How is it that slow??!! At 4:00 I started placing an online order for 2 pizzas THIN CRUST- Not deep dish- ETA WAS 5:15. When I received the order confirmation, the ETA had changed to 6:45! I called to confirm and was told 'it happens when your slot fills while you are ordering'. I then said I need to cancel since I can't wait 3 hours for 2 pizzas. I was then told my $32 would be refunded in 3 days! I asked that my concerns be relayed to a manager. Monday was the second time getting to eat here. Was very happy to see I had the same server as last time, Hope. Pleasantly surprised that she recognized me! We went with the bruschetta as a starter which was brought out quickly. While we waited for our pizza to be made she engaged in conversation often and keep all of our drinks full. Terrible Service on a Monday night! We had a large group gather for a Birthday celebration and were sat at about 8 different tables which was totally fine because we were at least in the same area. The problem was that when the waiter finally came around, he would ONLY take our pizza order. He refused to take orders for appetizers, salads, or other entrees. He led us to believe he was coming back after he entered the pizza orders to get the rest of our order. After about 30 minutes he brought us water but never asked if we wanted anything besides water to drink. About an hour later we got our THIN crust pizza but our friend who wanted to order Lasagna was never able to place her order so she decided to leave the restaurant and go elsewhere to eat. I had to get up from the table and chase down our waiter to ask if we could order salads and appetizers. Our water was never refilled either. Sadly, the waiter and manager didn't seem to care. Not once did anyone apologize! We have had Giordano's several times in Chicago and have never experienced poor service like this. Waited an hour for a table. That's expected and fine. Waiting TWO more hours for food? That's not okay. Some people even waited longer? Why? Because they take care of delivery orders first with one kitchen that is too small for all the orders. Either get a bigger kitchen or don't accept as many orders. No apology from a manager or nothing. We had to request one. Our server was so stressed because of the chaos in the kitchen. They messed up the table next to us' order. Tonight my family and I visited for the first time. My cousin picked this place it to celebrate because he just graduated from The Ohio State University. Sadly we were very unhappy. We waited and hour and 45 for a table. So how the messed up and let another group go in front of us. We pre ordered our pizza while waiting. Once we finally got seated the pizza was right out and it was kind of hard because we think it was sitting for so long. Then our waitress bought her drinks spilled drinks on 4 of us, broken glasses all over, then another member of our party had to wait 20 mins for a salad! And another 10 for soup! I finally chose a restaurant for my husband and I after telling him he needs to try this place. The wait was a hour wait so we went to the bar and ordered about 10 minutes later. We waited and waited on our food so finally the bartender decides to go get the manager and he comes out with some story about the oven breaking down and burning all the pizzas. He continues to tell us it's going to be another 35 minutes and to order an appetizer on them so we did. Mind you it's already 1.5 hours later. We get our appetizer pretty quick and waited another hour before our pizza finally came out. We ate one slice and asked for our ticket. They finally decided to comp the pizza only. The food wait great, but I've never experienced worse customer service. We put out name in at 7:05 and we're told we had a 40 minute-1 hour wait. Around 8:15, they told us it would be another 40 minutes. Once we sat it was 9:00pm. Our waiter then told us the pizzas were taking 2 hours to be served. Thankfully, we had pre ordered, so it ONLY took 50 minutes. All of their doors were locked (they close at 10) when we walked out, but the restaurant was still crammed full. My boyfriend is form Chicago and was super hyped extend the deep-dish experience with me, especially with us being in Ohio and me being from NY. But the experience was so much more than just the food. The atmosphere is classic and our waiter, Dany, was amazing and so friendly. Dany told us the wait could be long (and after seeing what a deep-dish pizza is I wouldn't expect it to take 5 minutes after ordering it compared to the salad we ordered), but I think the pizza came out in a responsible time. Dany made sure we, along with his other tables, were having a good time and he kept us entertained and made us laugh. People have commented that the management isn't good (though I didn't see that there), I think if Dany were a manager then those comments would be different. Being from NY, I wouldn't say the pizza is out of this world (because nothing compares to NY pizza!), but the food was very good and worth coming out to and even the small wait. I am giving the second star in hopes someone with business sense steps in to fix the service of this restaurant. I have raved about stuffed pizza for 30 years and when I saw this place opened this past weekend I was thrilled. That soon changed, 3.5 hours for a table( opening weekend was expected), but the site will not do deliveries or pick ups (4+ hours). The phone rang for 12 minutes before I hung since no one answered. I tried again at 1:00 pm to order a pizza for pickup at 5:00 pm but again no pick up until after 9:00pm. Just a suggestion but as a restaurant, probably bad business to put a bad taste in someone's mouth. I did get to try the stuffed pizza and it was very good, the pick up time is much improved I am increasing my previous stars.
