This spot for fresh sandwiches was epic. Everything is fresh and made to order. The fresh bread is amazing. The quiche, exquisite, filling and crust were perfect. My cousins fiancee found this place on TikTok and we heard great reviews. It did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

I've been coming here with my family ever since I was a kid. They have the best sandwiches and for very reasonable prices! I have fond memories of my sister and I looking at all the decorated cookies in the window. My go-to is their pate and salami sandwich. It's not explicitly on the menu but they'll make it for you! The sandwich is always loaded with pate and it's so delicious! There's so many other options on their menu as well; salads, soups, hot plates, pastries, cakes and they all look so good. I would definitely recommend a try here! The lines can get long sometimes but it's worth it! The service is friendly and the food is delicious!

Amazing amazing sandwiches. Seems like this restaurant has been operating here for the past few decades, and despite the antiquity of their business operations, they continue to be a popular restaurant choice for locals and tourists alike. The inside is cozy I'll be at narrow and the spice selection is quite pleasing.

I love their pate sandwich. It's pretty rich so I normally get half. Chicken salad had a good balance of chicken and veggies in the sandwich. The clam chowder was light and not heavy/creamy. It had mild smokey aftertaste. It was different at first but I enjoyed it and would get it again.b it balanced out the richness of the pate sandwich. The cowboy quiche is like a breakfast scramble in quiche form. It wasn't overcooked either. Would get again The fruit tart is not too sweet with a smooth custard like filling with fresh fruit on top. It's usually busy on Saturdays around 10am. There's some seating inside and outside. It's near a main Street so it's a nice spot to people watch as well. Lululemon is also next door if you want to browse afterwards

Came to this spot after my disappointing brunch somewhere else. This place saved my morning. The inside is very small and can be a little cramped with everyone waiting to order and get their food. However, the service is what makes this place top notch. All the workers here go above and beyond to make you comfortable. I ordered the salmon, some savory pies, and spaghetti. The food is what you expect for being microwave warmed. However, the taste hit the spot.

Unique, homemade entrees made with love and flavor! Such an assortment of hot foods, ie potpies, pastas, warm delish sandwiches. The pastries, oh my goodness! Every item looked baked fresh, fruit tarts, small individual pies, cooked galore. The service was wonderful and helpful. I believe the owner assisted me, so sweet and patient. I ordered a fruit tart with custard, phenomenal! My daughter the Girard sandwich which she said was incredible with a side of a Mediterranean salad, packed with flavor. Wish I had ordered a side myself, to go. Ambiance wise, basic wooden tables for 2 indoors, small back area and lovely small outdoor seating. When back in town, we will be back. Hubby ordered an Italian sandwich and potato salad to go...I'm sure it will be amazing.

Wow, what a neat shop for the senses. It includes almost anything you would want to put in a picnic basket and walk to the beach and enjoy. I wandered in taking pictures and looking at the goodies. The pot pies look amazing! I was too full to order anything but the folks behind the counter were very nice. Great service. Casual. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Street parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

I only had the rice pilaf(amazing!) and the sugar cookies(good). The food looks really good but everything is out in the open, 1/3 of it is in the sun uncovered. Flies flying everywhere and landing on everything with no attempt to stop the flies. I don't understand it at all. Idk how the health department lets this keep going on. I've been there twice now and cannot go back. The flies were worse this time than last! Great looking food but while likely make you sick.

What a nice surprise! Great deli right in the middle of all of the action in La Jolla. They show their pastries, meats and salads in glass cases. Everything looked fresh and delicious! Was hard to decide what to order because everything sounded so good. They offer 1/2 sandwiches which is great because they're a good size. We ordered 1/2 of a vegetarian and 1/2 of a roast beef sandwich and then a cup of the orzo salad. We split everything. Their whole grain bread is delicious! Both sandwiches were delicious and fresh. They use Dietz and Watson meats so it's good quality. Price is extremely reasonable. No room for a pastry this time. But will be back!

Craving something sweet and was in the area. It's a cute mom and pop shop but didn't have much as it was Mother's Day and towards the end of the day. We were greeted promptly. I ordered a ginger pound cake and tasted really good. Strong flavor of ginger. I also got the fruit mini pie and a Mom Cookie. The cookie was good but the icing was a bit sweet for me. The fruit pie was okay. They also have food such as sandwiches and salads. Parking is street parking and some paid parking near by. It's located on a strip.

Cute quaint mom and pop shop next to a bunch of Pilates studios in La Jolla! Stopped by after a Pilates class bc I wanted to treat myself and eat at the beach. They seem to have a lot of regulars as when I was waiting to order, they were chatting with a regular customer and they were so kind to her. I got the chicken curry sandwich and it was sweeter than I expected! I was expecting a savory sandwich. I don't think I'd get it again bc it didn't match my expectations but I'd still come back and try their other food items as they have an extensive menu! The owner? was so kind and gave me two free pastries bc I was waiting a little longer than expected (not that long but I appreciate the kind gesture). I will definitely be back to give another item a try due to the lovely customer service!

Yum! Their food was so good and I was helped by a kind woman at the counter! They have a ton of options and their sandwich bread was phenomenal!

Sugar and Scribe has a very inviting decor and atmosphere. They have a very colorful patio and super cute interior as well. It had a very spring/summery vibe with all the beautiful flower decorations. When we arrived we were lucky that there was no wait, and we got seated right away. Our server was sweet and attentive and came out order right away. I decided to get the fried hot honey chicken and biscuits and my boyfriend got the fried chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, my fried chicken and biscuits were way too salty and I struggled to taste any hot honey. It just tasted like watered down tobasco sauce, which was disappointing! My boyfriend said he loved his fried chicken and waffles. He also thought my chicken wasn't too salty, but I felt it was for me personally. So I guess it might be a preference thing. Overall, we had a good experience there. I would give them another shot and maybe try something else next time!

Specifically, a white or yellow fluffy bread with light not sugary sweet icing and a light vanilla custard filling with multiple berries...this cake has many names and I found some of the best at Tutto Bene Beverly Hills, Sweet Lady Jane Beverly Hills and sometimes at WholeFoods all named differently. When I saw some posted pics of this cake from this shop, I was so excited to try it. This is a very small shop with only one table inside and a few more in the outdoor patio. For reference, this cake shop is across from Pavilions in La Jolla, where I parked and grocery shopped before crossing the street to this cake shop. Upon entry I saw their version: Gateau Aileen. 'Gateau' is french for cake and Aileen is someone's name. I ordered a slice togo. The female staff behind the counter was helpful and friendly. The display case also had macarons and lots of other enticing desserts, and a small shelf of wines and sparkling wines. With excitement and anticipation, I headed home immediately and plated my slice on my fancy porcelain dish. After the first bite, I was shocked with disappointment to realized this is NOT the one, Not even close to other versions I've had. Apparently, this cake looked better than it tasted, and it tasted horribly bad, possibly the cake passed its expiration date, because ups on closer inspections, the strawberries on top looked over ripen. Good thing I didn't order a whole cake, but I hate spending any $$ on anything I can't enjoy. Perhaps is was just an off day at this bakery. Sadly, whoever Aileen is should not be associated with this awful tasting thing they call Gateau Aileen is cake NOT worthy of your Royal tastebuds. Sorry, NOT Sorry, Cannot Recommend

It didn't feel like the polished presentation we expected for a wedding cake. The venue staff had to place the top tier themselves, and because it wasn't properly secured, it nearly fell off during our cake cutting in front of our guests.
