I felt like i was tricked. I pointed and showed the cashier thatni wanted this specific blueberry item. There were 3 cold bluemerry, matcha, and a tonic. I am glad I saw this before picking up my pizza from triple beam. I ordered the almond macadamia nut latte iced. It was not too sweet and it helped me get through the pretty hectic day without the awful caffeine crash. My girlfriend had the "protein brekkie": eggs, bacon, and a small salad. Good but pretty standard. The real standout for me was the BLT with heirloom green tomatoes. A lot of people think a BLT is a bacon sandwich with tomatoes and lettuce, but it's really a *tomato* sandwich first and foremost. And the tomatoes here were exceptional, especially for April. I'm not sure if it is the result of their almond milk, their brewing process, I have no clue but it tastes sour and is not palatable at all. I love coming to this coffee shop, it's so nice to sit on their street side outroor patio in beautiful Highland Park and enjoy a nice breakfast with coffee. Julia in particular offered me a sample of the coffees when I asked them their preference between the colombian and the ethiopian which was nice. I love comparing two things next to each other. Ultimately went with the ethiopian which wasn't as acidic and had a bit of earthy chocolatiness to it. They serve their espresso with a hoppy fizzy tea as a palate cleanser which I thought was pretty cool. I saw a dude get it... pretty aesthetic. Two Gibraltar glasses on a small wooden serving tray and my curiosity was piqued so I asked him what it was... he ended up letting me have it which is why I actually stumbled inside to ask them about it. It tasted reminiscent of chrysanthemum tea sweeted with honey but it has neither of those things in it. Anyways. This place is going to be my go to anytime i go get Triple Beam. The homemade almond-macadamia milk is the best option anywhere if you don't do dairy: no preservatives, no oil, or gums in it. The beans are always top notch. I appreciate how the matcha actually tastes like matcha (yes matcha tastes like chalk) and they don't try to mask it with insane amounts of sugar.
