I would like to change my review backto five star review. . [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did have a little misunderstanding with these guys previously, v however they are all about Customer Service and doing their job to the best of their ability[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I like that so I'm going to have to alter my review. I just had Tesla Powerwall 3s installed. I'm so happy with the results. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The guys are nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Contrary to what a few others have posted, they are not out of business yet. We had got our solar installed from GoldRush in July 2023 and exactly after a year of working fine, our system stopped working on beginning of August 2024. I was afraid that our inverter went bad as SolarEdge inverters are notorious for going bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried contacting Gold Rush on a Saturday morning but wasn't able to reach a customer support executive. Provided my number and waited for a call but no call back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried again on Monday and no call back again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I checked the reviews and when I read comments about them going out of business, my heart skipped a beat. However, I tried again and yet didn't get through to a Customer Support Executive, gave my number and thought, I will probably have to call a third part to fix the issue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, to my surprise, Nathan from Customer Support called back 30 minutes later and mentioned that there was an isolation fault showing on my inverter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He scheduled a technician to visit us on coming Thursday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Robert was the technician who visited us on Thursday, went over the system, checked our roof and found that the junction box had some issues with wires melting. He fixed the junction box and our system was up and running within an hour. He also explained everything as he was troubleshooting. They are not out of business but they have downsized which has put a lot of extra pressure on them. Overall it was a decent experience with their Customer Support and technician but I will still deduct a star as my system was not producing any power for around a week.

Email from Enphase corroborating the substantial power loss and impact to my true up bill.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Run far and fast! This company's customer service is abhorrent at best.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have a huge system- $78k for solar, EV charging, and battery back up. For six month 10 of my panels were down. The message from the manufacturer went to my spam folder, although it was sent to THREE different Gold Rush email addresses, went unaddressed for 5 months, until I happened to see it in my spam folder. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gold Rush was initially apologetic, stating that they didn't know why it wasn't answered until I brought it to their attention.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Another month went by and the micro-inverters were fixed, but the next day the remaining 27 crashed, and went unfixed until 8 days later. That crash happened in the beginning of September, during the hottest time of the year. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They didn't tell me that the panels were off line, just said that they needed to work on them but couldn't come out until the next week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The crew came back and fixed the 27 crashed panels and I was left with no information about what occurred.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got my true up bill this week, and boy was I delighted to see a $2200 true up cost from PG&E. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to Enphase, and the customer service associate was so kind and walked me through all of the issues that my system had, and explained that my production would have been seriously impacted by the 10 panels that were offline for six months and that Gold Rush's lack of response to fix the problem contributed to my huge true up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shockingly, when I reached out to Gold Rush, they were combative and dismissive (heeeey Nathan and Daniel)![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Daniel, the COO, yelled at me, spoke over me, and dismissed any frustration that I had, despite my repeated requests to end the call as we were getting no where and I was tired of getting interrupted and talked over.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally, I hung up because I couldn't get a word in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I cannot imagine speaking to anyone in my professional work, and I will never understand why these two young men took my financial ruin as a personal attack on them. Do better Gold Rush. And if you're considering using them for your solar needs, avoid them at all costs. Every step of the way has been arduous and frustrating, after getting the quote and signing the $78k loan, of course. That part was smooth sailing. I've taken the liberty of attaching some proof for your viewing pleasure.

They set clear expectations from the start and communicated well throughout the entire project. They worked hard and were completely responsible and accountable. At one point they accidentally broke a skylight, but instead of cutting corners, they went above and beyond to get it repaired properly and made it right. They also cleaned up thoroughly after every single day of work, which we really appreciated. The finished roof looks even better than it did before. I also want to recognize Jose and Adrian. When the inspector required additional work on the roof, Jose took the time to clearly explain the cost differences so we knew exactly what we were paying for and why. I had a lot of questions about the cost breakdown for the sheeting, and it was pretty confusing to me, but Jose was so patient and kept explaining it different ways until it finally clicked. Adrian set us up with our initial consultation and spent over an hour working through pricing with us to get us a great deal. He respected my budget and kept it at the forefront the whole time, which made me feel truly seen and heard. Anytime I had a question or needed help with financing, he was there for me. This whole team was trustworthy, detail-oriented, and easy to work with from the first consultation to the final walkthrough. Highly recommend!!!

There was a question over whether a discount should be applied given the cost estimate and the mailbox flyer they distributed, but he addressed that. The work was done in a day, photos taken, etc. The 1st red flag was that I didnt see hardly any debris or trash from the work. Only a few cracked tiles and some supplies. I presumed they put the waste materials in their truck and disposed of them. Because I had filed a homeowners insurance claim an inspector came out a few days after the work CSR had completed. That review painted a different picture from the pics I was sent. 2nd red flag. Crap that was supposed to have been removed wasn't. Bird spikes attached were done incorrectly with no netting. Some tiles were still loose and others cracked. Shortly after the work was done I received an email stating Tyler was no longer with CSR and to contact them if I had any questions. I sent them the concern over the work not being completed, including the inspectors report, and followed up with a manager over the phone. I was told they would send a team out in a couple of weeks to complete the work properly. After four weeks, I called back and emailed. No responses. 3rd red flag. I subsequently had to have another contractor come and paid them almost a 1/3 of what CSR received for the work they never did. There was a reason why I didn't see any debris in my garbage after the original work. A mound of debris was left out of sight under my solar panels with other debris in my gutters. 4th red flag. As getting on a roof is not something most people can or should do, you need to have a trustworthy, reliable, responsive, and honest contractor to do the work at a fair cost. CSR showed NONE of these qualities in their work or in handling this project. I would think twice about considering them for any roofing project unless you can physically watch them do the work. Pictures are subject to what they want to take and show you.

As a contractor overseeing the job, you are responsible for the companies that you sub-out to. The crew who tore off the old roof broke two lawn sprinklers that they tried to hide that I had to replace. They broke bricks that line the stairway to our front door and tried to set them back to look like they had not been disturbed. They damaged 5 screens which I had to get replaced. I do not think they picked up a single nail even though they assured me that they would. We picked up handfuls of old nails, hundreds, and one that went into my foot. The gutter company put up gutters that had all kinds of bends in them. Not huge bends, but for brand new you would think they would be straight. If you look at them from the side you can really tell. As for CSR itself, if they put up new wood it is not painted. Also looking at the attached pictures, they needed to get flashing under this area but never blocked the hole after they tore off the piece that was there. So they made the hole and did not fix it. This hole was big enough for small animals to crawl through to get into my attic. And that is just one of many holes that I have had to fix on my own. Also they need to realize that every piece of roofing that they cut and throw on your lawn in July will burn it. So if you want to spend $42000+ on your roof and garage roof, and don't mind cleaning up after them and storing their plywood sheets and 2x6's for two weeks in your driveway after they leave, go for it. Otherwise, find someone else.

Monday morning, busiest time after a weekend for service calls ESPECIALLY for a home a/c going out DURING the summer when the temps are supposed to reach 106°! Was going to try and change the Capacitor myself, but recently received both a Liver & Kidney Transplant and just did not feel up to doing it myself. Lowe's and Home Depot did not have the part available, so did my due diligence and found Harlan Home Services. From Marisa to Juan, and the office team that responded, very happy with the service, quality, and response. Juan, excellent Service Professional, explained everything, did a full service from cleaning the filter on the unit, checked refrigerant level, to getting into the attic...very happy with him!! Did not try to upsell, but made recommendations, big difference. For me, being in Sales Mgmt. for 30+ years, I know "pressure" vs. making "recommendations". Harlan Home Services will be my first call from now on. I may even look into their roofing part of the family business. One recommendation I could make coming from being a Sales Manager for a large corporation, part of training service personnel, was to have our team park their Service Vehicle in front of the home, just for customer's security, maybe time to get logos on the truck. Advertising for you, and security for customers to see who's coming to the door. VERY HAPPY! Oh, and yes, very affordable!! As we say in Hawaii, MAHALO!!!

Shortly after completion, we experienced a significant leak near the chimney during a controlled water test. We repeatedly asked for photo/video documentation of the original water testing and requested a controlled retest after additional sealant was applied to the flashing and chimney areas. This was never provided. Because sealant was added after the initial test, it became impossible to determine how the flashing system performed in its original installed condition. Despite our requests for a documented and isolated testing process, the issue was attributed solely to stucco and chase cap conditions without verification of the flashing work included in our contract. Communication became increasingly dismissive when we asked reasonable, technical questions about how the leak source was isolated and verified, and the matter was pushed toward final inspection without the testing we requested. We also had concerns about billing transparency during dry rot repairs. We had to repeatedly request documentation showing where repairs were made, how many hours were spent on new work versus items already included in the original contract, and how labor time was calculated (including delivery and travel time billed at the same rate as on-site repair work). The initial invoices and explanations were vague, and only after multiple follow-ups did we receive partial clarification and a small credit for duplicated labor hours. While the company was responsive in replying to emails, we were left to identify gaps in documentation, testing, and billing ourselves rather than being provided clear, proactive transparency. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that future customers insist on detailed documentation, clear labor breakdowns, and controlled verification testing when leak diagnosis or change-order billing is involved.

That next year we sprung a different leak but were just months away from it being the most perfect time financially. Chris came out and actually helped to tarp our roof to get us through the rain. Talk about above and beyond! I told him that we would do the roof that summer and he got a quote prepared. We did get some other quotes in the meantime and AER just was top to bottom better with warranty, materials and price point. We went with AER and they put our job on the exact week we needed. Megan and Rebecca coordinated the process the entire way. They were preparing us for all the expected noise, logistics and material delivery practically every day leading into the start day. Rebecca and Megan did an awesome job communicating everything and thankfully the project wrapped up peacefully. He was backed up, but could drop by to look at the situation on Saturday, 10/18. He called on Thursday, 10/16 to check if we were doing OK. On Saturday, he arrived on time. He was very friendly and informative. He is a good teacher and shared information while showing us various material to explain. He spent a lot of time investigating the problem thoroughly, and found what he believed to be the problem. Because he'd already uncovered the roof in that area, he decided to just do the work at that time, rather than schedule it for a few weeks when he had available time. This meant he had to delay his next appointment by at least an hour, maybe two, but we were very happy that we could get it fixed so quickly, before the next rain. He provided us with a HUGE number of photos and videos of our roof, taken with both his phone and his drone. They were very helpful in understanding what the problem was, how he fixed it, and other potential issues. He also gave us a few referrals to properly clean the roof of moss, fix gutter issues, etc., and suggested to cut down tree branches hanging over the roof. He also suggested we call him back next Spring to do a more thorough inspection, to take care of any issues he couldn't assess, due to too much moss (too slippery) in one part of the roof. Two decent rains have happened since he came, and my husband's quick check in our attic didn't show any water leaks. So it seems pretty certain that he did indeed fix the leak. I plan to update this review next year, after he comes back to perform maintenance on the rest of the roof. For me, Andy will always be my first (and only) call when I have a roof leak.
