We went in here about a week ago and it was very crowded but pretty organized. The place was clean with employees cleaning off the serving areas quite a bit. Some of the customers are actually not very neat and cause the majority of the mess. The food was very good, and the hot food was hot, the cold food was cold. Sounds crazy but how many Burger places give you a hot burger anymore. Burgers are kept in a try until you order them. At GC, everything is served at its correct temperature. The staff was ready to help, and drinks were consistently refilled. It's a little noisy at times but some people like hearing their kids yell, I guess. I stopped in Nov 2020 for the lunch buffet. It had been about 8 years since I visited a Golden Corral. My normal stop is Old Country Buffet. I like it's setup and stations better, the food tastes much better, the soda machines have a heavier syrup content instead of being water down. Their current covid setup was no trays, your server brings your drink to the table. The only thing you are allowed to serve yourself is salad bar, and dessert bar. For the other foods the employees behind the food areas grab a plate for you and you tell them what to add to it. They have the tables socially distanced, napkins at the table. My server was carried off the empty plate right away, refilled my drink as it became low, and was friendly. I was kind of disappointed they don't offer a military discount, but a senior discount. The cashier did offer to use the senior discount instead but I declined. I am not about using a discount that wasn't designed for its intended purpose. Old Country Buffet does have a military discount and senior discount. The food was so-so as I remember it always being. The mini burger was extremely good as long as it's fresh. SHUT-HER-DOWN ALREADY!! This place cleaned up a bit the past year or two from the stench of urine for 4 years. A relative wanted to go there a few months ago, so I complied. Low expectations, I was surprised a bit cleaner and decent options. But for$17, I could get better quality dinner. ANYWHERE! I went back tonight just for variety. We regretted it immediately and almost left without requesting refund. But Hubby was hungry. I picked at some shrimp, potatoes, had to troll the carver to get rid of the 6 oz shriveled up ham chunk and serve the new one he had set behind him. No way was I risking the salad bar. I recalled the array of desserts when I came with relative, cute cupcakes, full cake options and that super moist fudge cake! Forget dinner, just have a nice sweet with coffee. The young Pauli D kid working the bakery cared about his hair (touching primping constantly) and girl patrons. Zero about refreshing pastries. You would think it was closing time. I finally asked server if he was going to refresh ANYTHING? She looked deflated. She mentioned to him, 15 minutes later there was a new cake on worktable, he cut but not put out. We sat there. Finally as he fluttered around more, no hope of a nice cupcake, or non-stale fudge cake (tapped with spatula hard as a rock) we gave up. This buffet should be $10-12 not $17. Maybe when snowbirds are here the quality is better? Maybe. We sat right outside the office, same greyed mustache manager did zero quality walk throughs....until right as we were leaving, chatting with baker. Perhaps our server said something. But if the dust level is this bad on napkin holder, blinds and salt shaker (right by mgr office) I dont want to know what the back areas look like. The value equation has no solution here. The food quality is not that good, and it seems like often they don' have a lot of the meats available. It was impossible to get Pot roast, for example, the whole time we were there. Granted, I didn't choose to go here, but I do wonder why people do. The food is not great. The pork, steak, and taco meat are all middling quality at best. The desserts are only OK. The apple pie wasn't terrible. The carrot cake was passable. The ice cream is bland and watery. The one thing that is good here are the buns. If you want to pay $20 to eat buns, this is the place for you. Our server was friendly. But the value is not there. It's not cheap to eat here. There are so many cheaper places that have better food in generous portions. Cheddars is superior in every dimension: Food, Service, Decor, and it's cheaper. Tonight we felt like hitting up a buffet and we drove out to Gilbert Az. Golden Corral-very few are open in the Phoenix area. We arrived and there was a line and it seemed like a bad idea...didn't help to see people walk out frustrated. We decided to wait patiently and boy was it worth it. The server (very pleasant Native American woman) made our dinning experience a true delight with her super nice and happy disposition. The food was delicious, the server was extremely courteous and the environment was overall very friendly. I must highlight that the server was so very nice, positive and just radiating happiness. The rest of the staff did a great job too and I cant say that I've felt this good about dinner in over two + years. Thank you Golden Corral and kudos to the staff for their outstanding work. The food is what you would expect for the price. I did not expect Casino Buffet quality. The reason for the low rating is two fold. First is there is no accurate labeling for the food. They had the breakfast labels for the dinner items. More importantly the sanitary situation. It is extremely unsanitary BUT the reason is not necessarily the fault of the staff entirely. The patrons act like animals grabbing the food with their hands and getting it everywhere in the process. Although it may not be the most cost effective method the employees SHOULD be serving the patrons which would solve the problem altogether. Unfortunately the way it was would likely warrant being shut down by the health department. It is unfortunate that the establishment attracts people for the most part act like animals but it is the responsibility of the restaurant to control it. If they made changes I would likely give them another shot. read more

Disappointed because they start closing down and taking away food an hour before closing a lot of the times so if you come a half hour before closing good luck cause there's not much food left because they're so fast trying to go home and they don't allow to keep all the food available until they do close. They begin the closing duties way before closing time. I was very angry that the ice cream machine was already drained out and shut down long before closing (about 45 minutes prior to closing) just so they can get it cleaned out, which obviously takes a while and is a pain in their butt. The employees are more into getting out of there than serving their customers. As far as the food goes it was subpar. The fried chicken tasted like it's been under the heat lamp for days. Couldn't get a chicken wing if my life depended on it. And forget dessert because ice cream is gone, most all desserts gone and not replenished even an hour before closing. I personally think and in my own opinion, if you post that you're closed at 10, the pre-closing should not start until it's after that time. I understand people want to get out of there and go home, but the business is supposed to be open with all the food available until the store is ACTUALLY CLOSED!! Stop making people feel like they must hurry up to eat the leftovers they haven't taken back yet. When customers are asked to pay full amount and then only get a 1/3 of the selections they normally carry, is wrong in every level. If it's that late like an hour before closing then cut the price in half because you're only gonna get them garbage left over that. They haven't pulled yet. Restaurant store managers these days are worse than their employees and are actually pathetic, lazy people who have no kahunahs to stand up for what's right to do. I filed a complaint with Maricopa Environmental Services regarding this restaurant. Five of us decided this would be a great place to eat, that there would be something that everyone would enjoy. The food was okay, for this type of restaurant. But three of us that where sat facing the service area, mostly the dessert area, we noticed five children taking marshmallows that were dipped in chocolate off the tray, licking them, than placing them back on the serving tray. We spoke to the two employees that were working that area, they did nothing. Low and behold as we sat there we witnessed three more children doing the same thing. I went and found the manager and informed him of the situation, he thanked me and said he would look after this. Sure enough he goes over speaks to the employees, pulls the tray to the back of the counter & replaces the tongs back on the tray with the marshmallows. Now the children really had to reach for them, which they did! As we where leaving the restaurant the manager was standing there, I told him I was totally discussed that he did not throw them in the garbage, he lied and said he did, even though three of us saw what he had done. We the MES went to inspect he lied threw his teeth, said he threw them in the garbage. TOTAL LIE. So I myself will not support place that does not take Food Safety serious. read more

It's a buffet after all but the staff is nice, it was pretty busy. Floors could be cleaner but the food and variety was decent. Waiting time for fresh food was a bit long. Seating was a bit tight and it is a seat your self place so that was a bit annoying but overall basic. Very much a family place. read more

Last time I ate at this location was March 2020 and it was very mediocre!  My favorite Golden Corral is Power Rd one, which is 20 miles from my house in Scottsdale, but this Cooper Rd one is 13 miles. I drive to Power Road all the time. Why I came here in March 2020 was because I was having my RV repaired 3 miles away, and I saw I could come here just before 4 pm for senior early bird,l but if I went to the Power Rd location, it would be 13 miles, and I would not make their senior early bird. Someone told me that Golden Corrals will not be self-serve buffets, but will have employees dishing out the food to us, cafeteria style. But when I arrived at this Cooper location last March, it was the usual self-serve buffet. I eat my steak rare, because otherwise sirloin is too tough to chew. I was so mad that the guy grilling the steaks, insisted that they were rare (the ones he cooked in the bin he wanted me to select when they were well done to me.  He insisted that the brown "well done-looking" color was the way the meat looks when it is "rare", not red. It was like he was refusing to cook me a "rare", said "this IS RARE".  Another lady standing next to me expressed the color was "well-done" and not rare. Well he kept insisting that is the way the meat looks when raw. But when I had a small piece that wasn't red on the inside, but brown, IT WAS DEFINITELY WELL DONE!!!! I was so missing and wanting my Power Rd GC, I was so mad at him!   I thought about asking for my money back, but I was so hungry, here at 4 pm. I had to wait 4 hours at that RV place, and I hadn't even eaten breakfast before going there. I was already composing my 1 star Yelp review in my mind, describing the "well done", he was forcing on me, but as I was composing my review, in my mind, he came over to my table with a plate of steak that he cooked "rare" for me. The color inside was RED, not the "well-done" brown color that he said was "rare" before. I showed him the RED inside the steak. He said nothing, but I wasn't fuming anymore, since he cooked the steak rare for me and brought it to my table. Anyhow, every time I come to this Cooper location, over the years, I say "Never again. Going to make the trip to Power Rd." I didn't like the service, here, and the restaurant was dirtier.  But here I was, again, because of the time circumstances I told you. I am writing this review now, because my girlfriend loves GC and they live across the 60 from this Cooper GC, but in the past I made them drive to Power Rd location in the past, to eat with me there. Her birthday is around Thanksgiving and we traditionally eat at GC at this time, cos she gets her free birthday meal, but no one got it this year. The NEW (as of 2 weeks ago) manager of this Cooper store told me that Power Rd closed permanently, and that today (I think it was Wed Nov 11) was his first day as new manager of Cooper. I told him I just read a Yelp review, that this Cooper location was "under new management", but that "new manager" was a lady that several Yelpers said she was so rude. He said, "Well I can tell you that there is no lady anymore, today". I said, "She musta gotten fired". He said he didn't know. He said he used to work for GC before for 9 months, and they asked him to "come back" to manage this Cooper location. I felt sorry for the newest manager I spoke to, cos the reviews since Covid of this Cooper location, were 1 Yelp star after another, about dirty silverware and plates and pictures of "roaches" and comments "NEVER COMING BACK HERE!". He told me that there are only two GCs open now in Phoenix metro, Cooper and the one in Glendale on Northern, and Power Rd will never open again. So sad. He said that all the corporate owned GCs will close permanently, and GC will only support the franchises. Most of the GCs are franchises. I feel sooooooo sad, Power Rd GC is gone for good. I used to eat there so often, especially when they had their various weekend promotions of shrimp cooked 5 different ways, ribs and brisket BBQ, prime rib, and even rib eye specials. Went there with so many different groups, too. Those were the good ol' days. So many fond memories of eating with so many people in the course of 20 years, now ended. read more

I really enjoying going to the Golden Corral. I don't have to cook or clean. They have a very big selection of food choices. You a vegetarian that got something for you. You a meat eater they got something for you. You got kids with you they got something for them. Huge salad bar, a grill with terrific selections, awesome desert bar. And they always have different themes monthly. As I write this It Ribs and Wings month. Both are delicious and there are several flavors of wings to try. Me myself, I go for the fried Catfish fillets, white rice covered in the poultry gravy, and some of that good good spinach. This place was disappointing. We came in around 6:55pm. Paid $78 for 4 adults did not purchase a drink at $3.99 each. When we went to get food every pan was empty or the food was extremely dried out. I went to get a steak and right off the bat the guy serving had a really bad attitude. The soups were empty and dried out as well. Counter tops dirty. Went back for another steak that same server was popping pills touching his mouth then not even washed his hands afterwards. I let the manager know but it was like he didn't care. That's when I said f@@k this asked for a refund since there was no food available and the place was unsatisfactory. They don't do refunds I was told. So we just got up and left. I've eaten at some really bad places but this place 1. No food ready 2. Dirty counter tops 3. Food being stomped on with no one wanting to clean. 4. Nasty employees who don't wash their hands. And 5.
