Love the Indian Pizza and Samosas here! They have a casual dining room, but I prefer to take out. Had a friend's b-day dinner here once, and it worked out well since we took over half the room with our party-goers. And there's relatively easy parking (you may have to walk a few blocks, but there's parking to be found), and an N-Judah stop out front. Indian Pizza is also a popular party food (hint hint). Ask for extra cuts on your pizza (party friendly). read more

Another pretty good Pizza Joint that I've come across in my lifetime. It reminds me of another Indian owned pizza place in the lower avenues of the Sunset, Brother's Pizza. In my early years, I used to go to Brother's alot more but as I grew into my teens and then early adulthood, this is the place I started frequenting more since my then girlfriend, now wife lived a couple blocks aways from there. Can't wait to check it out again soon... I think the fact that the Indian cook's culture has Naan bread in their bloodlines actually may help them in making really good crust for Pizzas. Never have I dined inside the establishment. (Do the steps outside count? Samosas + stoop = tasty times.) Typically I get food from here delivered, because after work around 8pm I get extremely lazy. That said, their delivery service is excellent. The deliciousness is brought to my door quicksmart; they have never failed me. Furthermore, I admit that I have been "that guy," -- you know, that guy who orders delivery 20 minutes before they close. I AM SO SORRY. But your food is terrific. Not once have they said "No, it's too late," or given me the stink eye when they arrive at my door. I have always experienced lovely customer service. I hereby promise I'll pull that one less often, but their acceptance of a late order just goes to show what kind of business they are. I haven't actually tried their pizza, but the other dishes I have had suggest that it's probably great! Some things to try: -Chana Masala -Saag Paneer -Samosas -The basmati rice is very good -They have lots of other random things like BBQ Chicken, ribs, french fries, cheeseburgers, all of which have been top notch yum. Man oh man, my boyfriend and I kept talking about going to this place because it's a block from his house. He loves Indian food, "but what the heck is Indian pizza?" After months of debating whether it would be worth it to go, we finally found ourselves seated in the comfortable, nicely decorated back room. We ordered Pakora, and after some (not actually that much) debate, ordered the Chicken Indian Pizza. The pakora was a nice serving size. Definitely worth the money. Good flavor. Could have been a tiny bit more crunch, but super delicious and worth the money. The pizza blew us away. Neither of us could have imagined that "Indian pizza" could be so good. The meshing of flavors of the spinach sauce with the rest of the pizza was amazing. We commented to each other that this would be a great way to introduce someone to the flavors of Indian food if they'd never had it before but liked pizza a lot, because the Indian flavors were extremely present, and fit right in. I'm not sure if Indian pizza is a thing that exists anywhere else, so, for now, if you're looking for a big meal after a long walk on the beach, it's a pretty good option. Please note that I've only had one thing there which was one of the "Curry Pizzas", so yes, my review may be a bit skewed. Wow. I mean... Really... Wow. That was pure genius. I just got back from dinner here and I am just floored. I just got the best Indian meal I have had in this city for $16. Follow the other Yelper's advice (as I did), and run with the samosas (use the reddish sauce - it is fantastic!) and the saag paneer. The Saag was just to die for. I have to recall the 5-star rating after dining in and getting take out a few more times. Last time I was there in January the service was awful - the waiter was not attentive, kept getting our order messed up and never showed up to give us the bill. After finishing our dessert and wine and sitting there for a while, we walked up to the counter (where the staff was having a gossip pow wow) and had to ask for the bill from them. I've never had their pizza. The indian food is good most of the time, last time the curry was bland and too thin. Their pasta is school cafeteria style - nasty, and only good as a last resort option. Lastly the decor and the atmosphere of the place don't invoke warm fuzzies in me. It looks old and dusty, even the dim lighting is not helping. The glass on the tables has sharp corners and it's easy to scratch yourself on it. WOW! So the last time I ate at this place was over 15 years ago - long before they had Indian food. But I've moved to the hood, and I'm still in the process of unpacking and my fridge is somewhat bare, so my boyfriend and I decided not to nuke whatever Trader Joe's convenience food I had in the fridge and I ordered, without bothering to first read the positive reviews here. After I ordered, I came here to see if my risk would pay off... and as I browsed good review after good review, my doorbell rang. To my surprise, my dinner was here in about 20 minutes! I could have barely gotten something out of the package in 20 minutes let alone nuked it and had it all warm and yummy and soothing. And this was indeed warm and yummy and soothing. I didn't think I'd have a good Indian place this close to my place. I mean, the Outer Sunset is NOT known for its wide array of culinary choices. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ORDER HERE!!!! I ordered here around 9:30PM. My order was an on line order. Around 10:15PM I decided to call to make sure my order was on its a way and a very rude lady answered the phone stating that she had my on line order and hung up. About 11:30PM no one had delivered the pizza. I decided to call again and the same lady answered the phone and said that there were no more orders on delivery and that the kitchen was closed. I told her I had called about an hour ago and she said that it wasn't them and that she didn't have my order. I let her know that she was the one that answered the phone and she insisted on arguing with me and letting me know there was nothing she could do. Five Stars to the Chicken Tikka Masala. Technically, it's the only thing I've even ordered there (except for the naan... I recomment the fruit naan.... aaaagggglllhhhhh.... so yummy). OK. As for the Chicken Tikka Masala... I want to order a kiddie sized pool of this stuff, strip down naked and roll around in it. I am not kidding. If I knew I wouldn't stink for weeks afterwards, I'd probably do it. The Tikka Masala sauce IS THAT GOOD! I'm so effing bored of this town. I've covered every square inch of it in my lifetime, and it all blurs together in one familiar soup. Nothing is new anymore, and I'm rarely surprised by anything I didn't know was there. So imagine my surprise when a friend of mine showed up my Indian-food-loving ass last year and busted out with Golden Gate Pizza. Holy crap. My mind was blown. It wasn't the best I've ever had (to be fair, I prefer a more Pakistani bent) but it was the right thing at the right time. The first time I went here was several years ago while visiting a friend, and I had no clue I'd ever be living here. I was both amused and entertained by the fact that it was both pizza and Indian food -- I did purchase some garlic and cilantro "stuffed" naan as I was bored and hungry, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not knowing the tendency of SF eateries to have seemingly incongruent cuisines (Chinese food and donuts, anyone?), I was a bit sketchy about trying their pizza. A few years, moves, and donuts from Chinese places later, I was in the mood for pizza last night as I hadn't had any in awhile. The boyfriend, for various reasons, couldn't do pizza that night and wanted Indian food. We knew this place was good for Indian food since we've had delivery from there before, but we hadn't tried anything else -- the clincher was the intriguing Indian Chicken pizza so I went for it. The Lamb Vindaloo was excellent as usual, though I still personally prefer the Chicken Tikka Masala from here. The Indian Chicken pizza wasn't bad as far as pizza goes -- I wish the spinach curry sauce they put on the pizza in lieu of tomato was spicier and there were larger chunks of tandoori chicken, but I can't really complain since it's not like you can get this kind of pizza just anywhere. The french fries could have been left in the fryer a bit longer and dusted with at least a little bit of salt, but they were still hot when we got them so the salt we added stuck to them pretty well. Whatever concerns I had about their pizza are gone now, and I'm bummed I forgot to bring some to work with me. Delivery was a little slow last night, but it's usually very quick and always friendly...all in all, one of my favorite Indian places in the city, and definitely my favorite Indian place that delivers. read more

You see the thing with Zantes is that 1- it takes FOREVER for your pizza to arrive and 2- Its tooo rich and greasy whereas this pizza is perfect, the right amount of topings and you dont feel like you need to wash your face afterwards. Here's the scoop: upon moving to SF, I LOVED this place. The Indian pizza, the idea of it, it itself, was amazing. I loved it and I came back several times for it because it WAS that good! That being said, something went wrong with the restaurant. The past few times I've went, they've burnt the dough, they didn't use enough sauce, the chicken topping was dry... needless to say, I was bummed. DAYUM! This was unexpected. I've ordered Indian food from here before (chicken or paneer tikka masala with a side of garlic naan) and I liked it, but last night I was craving a straight-up delicious pizza. Something about the Spicy Chicken Pizza spoke to me. I like blazing hot foods, so the marinated chicken and serrano chili peppers sounded like they wouldn't disappoint. Aaaaand they didn't! First of all, the topping were loaded on. That's a good look. Everything tasted fresh. The chicken was sooo good, it was tender and it had its own flavor instead of just bland chicken on top of a pizza. The crust was perfect for me, not greasy, just thick enough, chewy, and fresh. I ate so much of that damn pizza! Now it's the next morning and describing it is making me want to go warm up another piece. Sigh... I ordered delivery and they were here exactly 30 minutes after I ordered. I don't remember them being that fast back when I used to order from them before. On a freezing cold day, we had the choice of standing in line outside of Outerlands for a good 40 minutes in the hope of a table or ducking inside this hole-in-the-wall for hot food and tea. The food turned out to be tasty and spiced just about right, if medium-hot is your speed. And $11 for an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet it's a fair deal. I remember seeing this place as I was moving into my new apartment on La Playa thinking 'pizza and Indian? Sounds cool!' I know that I had to try the place out..if not to see if there were good Indian pizza, but also for Brandon Y. who helped me move in. We both wanted to try it since it just sounds awesome. I have yet to try any of the other food, but my friend and I got the Chicken Indian Special Pizza and it was so good. The chicken was nice and tender; onions are amazing too! So we called our order in and in no time the very nice delivery guy showed up. Seriously, he was the nicest delivery guy yet. We ordered the vegetable samosas and i can't say i was all that impressed. They weren't bad but they weren't super great either, kind of bland. But hold on a minute cause the Vegetable Korma made up for it. It was sooo yummy. They have a very large menu but i'm pretty sure i'll be sticking to the Indian cuisine. I scarcely can allow a weekend to pass without going to the buffet at Golden Gate Pizza and Indian cuisine. How can you beat all-you-can-eat for $7.95? I'll admit that the facade is tacky as all get out. It's sort of below the parking lot along a lowered sidewalk that seems to reek a bit of bodily fluids. It's next to a laundromat and the 7-11. But it is worth disregarding these little flaws to come inside and try the food. I first gave them a try when I got home from work one evening and was too thrashed to even think about cooking or going out. They had left a menu on the gate and I gave them a call. On that occasion, I ordered Saag Paneer, rice and Naan. The Saag Paneer was made exactly the way I personally like it, just enough spice and just enough cheese. The Naan was fresh and crusty/chewy/soft. The rice was fragrant with spices. I became an instant fan. I really like Indian food, especially the Punjabi variety. This little place is near home, and has really good food at reasonable prices. The buffet often features Saag Paneer, always has Tandoori Chicken, usually has lamb curry, nearly always has chicken Tikka Masala, and frequently features Channa Masala, to name only a few. There is rice and Chai on a cart, and there are also some dessert items I never have room for. They bring hot, fresh Naan to the table. I haven't tried the pizza, because I can't keep from having the Indian food, but I am told it's quite good, and that they use the same bread dough as for the Naan. Sounds great. The people who own it are sweet and friendly. I always enjoy going in there. read more

SO much love. Depending on how many people there are / how many meals we want, there's a few things I always love getting: lamb biryani, vegetables korma, Kabli naan [cherry-coconut], and an Indian pizza [veg or chicken, both are really tasty], and a 'regular' meaty pizza, especially if we have out of town guests who aren't sure how they'll feel about the Indian stuff. I might take off half a star for the expense, but the joyfully dancing taste buds are worth it. ;p Occasionally there's been enough grease that you get that, "OMG I ate too much fatty food" feeling, but I'm pretty sure that may also be related to having more than a couple pieces of the pizza. read more

This place is just the most random thing ever. It shares a lot with the 7-11 next door and those are the only two things in this tiny strip mall (if you can call it that). It just looks like a place that you would only try if you've pounded a six-pack of beer, went to a blue grass festival, and wanted a place to stop as you biked home... which, as it happens to be, is how me and my buddies ended up trying it. We got two things there: the Indian Chicken Pizza and some lamb curry. The curry was nothing to write home about but man that pizza was something else! It's like they took all the good indian stuff i liked and transformed it into another awesome food i like. The crust was like a light and fluffy naan, topped with a saag sauce, then topped with mozzarella, tandoori chicken, and tomatoes. I did try their pizza sandwich once - definitely a mistake that I do not recommend you to make. But hey, they're not called GG Pizza, Indian Cuisine, and Sandwiches. Their pizza!!! Both the Chicken version (Spinach Curry sauce, Cilantro, Tomatoes, Red Onions & Tandoori Chicken with Mozzarella Cheese) and the Vegetarian version (Spinach Curry sauce, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cauliflower & Eggplant Bhartha with Mozzarella Cheese) are really good. Undoubtedly the best buffet in the city. Unlike all the other Indian/Pakistani restaurants I've been to that leave the naan under a semi-warm lamp on the buffet, Golden Gate Indian Cuisine makes theirs fresh right after you ask for some more (don't worry, it's pretty quick to make!). The mutton was the most impressive dish, and the saag was also amazing (I always love saag though). The gulab jamun was made exactly like my boyfriend's mom makes it (in India!!), at least, so he says. I had to agree that it was the best gulab jamun I'd ever eaten! Rip off joint: I went in July 9 2010 with my friend in the late evening. Ordered the "signature" indian chicken pizza. The tomatoes couldn't have been cut thinner. There was a thin layer of indian style spinach, like paper thin and what looked like stale onions and old cilantro all over the pizza. The chicken was not breast meat, but was dark meat with small pieces of fat from thighs. After about 5 - 10 minutes the pizza became extremely soggy. All this for over 20$? I would have had better pizza from Dominoes. This place cheaps out and tries to make a huge profit off of a commodity that is limited in stature. I would avoid it. The exterior is not pleasing and the interior isn't either. Next time you make someone an indian pizza guys, don't go cheap on them. $20.00 is a very steep price to ask for what I received. You can mention their names to describe how spicy you want the food ("I want it spicy, but not Raj-and-Anj spicy."). Sheer, morbid curiosity once drove my husband to eat a McDonald's McGriddle sandwich. The combination of egg, meat, cheese and pancake-like bun was enough to make him lick his lips, ponder the experience and declare it "disgustingly delicious." I recalled this explanation last night as I ate Golden Gate's veggie Indian pizza. I was intrigued and excited to try this dish, as I love Indian food (especially eggplant bhartha) and I LOVE pizza and I LOVELOVE free delivery. But bite after bite, I couldn't get over the confusing flavors running through my mouth. I love sweet/salty combo foods, but this was too sweet for me. I think it was the eggplant - I'm used to that dish being a little less sweet and a little spicier. I also wasn't anticipating that it would be sorta plopped all over the pizza in turdlike scoops, rather than spread evenly across the top. Live and learn. It wasn't a total disappointment, but like hubby's McGriddle, it may be the first and last one I ever taste. I won't rule them out for future Indian delivery (or regular pizza for that matter - the crust was great!). EDIT 3/6/08: Went back to GGP&IC for straight up Indian food (no pizza), which made me love and appreciate the free delivery even more. My food arrived piping hot exactly 40 min. after I ordered it, and both the chicken tikka masala and aloo gobi were great. To my delight, the entrees came with free rice (I hate places that charge for one of the cheapest foods available)....but sadly, the rice that arrived was a gooey mush. Like most everyone else who has reviewed this place, I was skeptical. To say the least. Pizza, hamburgers, Indian food? Plus, the place just looks a bit dumpy. After moving one block away though, we just had to give it a try, especially after all the great reviews. The first time we ordered, we got the chicken pakora and "hot and spicy wings." The pakora was good- not too dry, not too greasy. The hot and spicy wings were just that- hot and spicy. They were in a sort of hot curry broth. I could not eat them, my boyfriend finished the whole thing. Tonight we tried the Indian chicken pizza. It was really quite good. Such an interesting blend of tastes- lots of cilantro, red onion, spinach, and small bits of tandoori chicken. Really good. I am big on crust, and I was quite impressed with the crust here- thin, not too greasy, crisp. I suggest that if you live in the area, you try it. I also just saw that you can order on their website, which is pretty cool. The folks working there (I assume it's family owned) are very nice as well, which is a plus. Good Indian food, but in my opinion overpriced. I've ordered from here a few times, and I've found the prep time to be pretty low. The kitchen is right by the front door which usually leads to the person who takes your money always working the preparation of your food. I've not seen any blatant health code violations, but this seems like a ripe environment for such infractions. Most recently, I had tikka masala and basmati rice came up to $14 for a single order, and I was picking it up. The chicken was still very hot, even nearly a half hour later when I finally got to eating it. The yogurt sauce was flavorful and the chicken tasted and looked like it was all breast meat. The rice was above average, flavored with cloves and a bay leaf. In all, a solid Indian restaurant. This location has practically no local competition to keep prices down, so don't expect a Naan & Curry bill. read more

One day a long, long time ago, my friend and I were headed towards the beach on a freakishly sunny S.F. day and stopped in a unevenly paved parking lot in front of a yellow painted wall. My friend went into the convenience store next to it while I stared in confusion and curiosity about a pizza and Indian restaurant that stood before my very eyes.... In a previous review of an Indian restaurant I stated that if I believed in past-lives I would have been from India or some country in the Middle East, but what I didn't expose was that pizza is one of my favorite foods in all the universe. So to have pizza and the native food of my "past-life" in one???!!! It appeared to be a match made in perfection. Unfortunately we had to go to the beach, but fortunately, they deliver!!! Alright so the food. Yes, so one must try the Korma coconut curry. I get the vegetable one, but I'm telling you, this Korma business is like eating a very well seasoned soup of butter. I get it every time. EVERY TIME PEOPLE! Even delivered it's hot (temp) enough to burn my mouth each time, just the way I like my food. I have tried bites of the shrimp curry, which is lighter and less thick but still tasty. I have had the samosas, which are hard to go wrong anywhere b/c fried foods.... COME ON! I've even tried the pizza, which isn't like the best pizza around, but still, it tasted like pizza. I gave this 5 stars b/c it's all about the KORMA, baby! read more
