I got drinks from sharetea next door and they didn't have any food options so my friend and i headed over next door and got some good ol popcorn chicken. portions were huge compared to many other boba / taiwanese cafeish type places. the breading on it was fantastic. very worth the price. Also got sausage and rice. it came with some braised tofu which was really dang good. the veggies that came with it were a bit salted but overall the food was great. service was decent. A taiwanese restaurant that opened right by my house. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. I'm going to be here all the time! Pork Chop Rice ($7.25) A little expensive but the quality is a little better than usual. It's definitely different in that it's not just a slab of pork. What I really like is that the side of veggies isn't cold. Usually taiwanese places give you cold sides. Golden Leaf does it with warm veggies. Oyster Pancake This was just okay. A little different than they make it in taiwan. I think the owner put her own twist to it. Just okay. Green Tea So refreshing. This is my go to place for good Taiwanese food. I love their rice vermicelli. It is only available for dinner. Other traditional Taiwanese food like stinky tofu and oyster pancakes are really good too. Portions are big and they do have set meals or Bento that comes with your choice of Protein, vegetable and rice. I noticed they did raised the price on their menu. But for the taste of these hard to find Taiwanese food, I'm willing to pay for what I get. So the owner's wife usually take care of the front. She's look mean but I think that's just how she looks and carry herself. I've spoken to her a couple of times with small talks and she's perfectly fine. I always put myself in other's shoes and if I had to run the front by myself during busy hours, I don't think i would put a pretty face on all the time either. they've hire a help for the front and it definitely helped during busy hours. overall i'm pretty happy to find this place and it's so close to home. Every time i'm craving for taiwanese food, I would come here to eat. Highly recommended. Parking can be difficult because the store is a share parking lot with other stores. There's a residential side street, sometimes you'll have better luck there. read more

I've eaten here about 3 times now. It's pretty much my goto taiwanese food place in the area. It's convenient and the lines aren't overly long. They make 2 noodle soups that I enjoy: Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup and Zha Cai Rou Si mian / 榨菜肉絲麵. For those that don't know the 2nd dish, it's just the pork with shredded pickled veggies. I'd rate both about a 8/10. They do not have the traditional Suan Cai (pickled veggies) that you'd normally get with your beef noodle soup though. Warning though, if you aren't used to Taiwanese food, stinky tofu is quite popular and they serve it here. I'm not a huge fan of it, but I've been to taiwan enough to pretty much be desensitized to the smell. You will smell it here. The veggie dishes are plentiful. I typically order an A-Tsai, sometimes known as Taiwan Sword Leaf Lettuce. read more

The hostess recommended their signature dishes. We got all three. They are - Stinky tofu (fried). They are crispy on the outside and soft+juicy on the inside. The garlic sauce, pickled veggies, and hot sauce came with it are delicious. The portion is huge. Fried pork chop rice is good. The pork chop was marinated well and tender. The staff said they use only little batter so that it's not too heavy. It comes with 2 veggie sides, which are changed periodically according to the hostess. The lady owner offered us more rice free of charge. We didn't get it, but that's nice. The oyster pancake has good flavor. However, some oysters were a bit overcooked so I got the bitter tastes out of few bites. That's the reason for 1 star off. read more

The large intestines were sweet and crispy, but not oily. You could see a good amount of oyster inside the oyster pancake. My boyfriend said it is the one of the best oyster pancakes he ever had in his life. The beef in the noodle soup were so tender and the soup was very flavorful. Love everything we ordered! Some of the best soup dumplings we've had in Los Angeles. We've always loved their braised beef noodles and thus decided to order take out while we visited. The beef noodle soup was just as good as pre-COVID 19 time. Comparing to the size of the soup, I'm a bit surprised by how little noodles they gave though. The rest of the dishes we ordered: oyster pancake, bean sprout noodles, minced pork rice, pork belly were all being kept at the same delicious level. We were not disappointed by their dishes. Overall this place is pretty solid; I'll probably be returning soon to try their other dishes. This place has authentic cheap Taiwanese food and is worth checking out! read more

I had stinky tofu for $6.50. It's fermented tofu that is deep fried. So surprisingly, I didn't find this very smelly or offensive. Is it because it truly wasn't, or there's just something rather different about me? I don't know. Served over a bed of pickled cabbage, sliced carrots, and soy sauce, stinky tofu a popular street food in Taiwan. I ate this with hot sauce, and it was quite good. I didn't have anything else, so I am basing the review just on this alone. The rest of the people who showed up here were all Chinese, with them ordering all sorts of other dishes that looked good. This place has the best oyster pancake in North America! i have tried so many oyster pancakes in different Taiwanese restaurants in the past i have never tasted anything more authentic than this! The sauce is perfect the oyster is fresh and the veggie compliment well with the oyster pancake. the veggie they use is different than the real authentic oyster pancakes i had in Taiwan but the Tong Ho works well too. I also ordered Pork chop rice and intestine vermicelli. Not too impressed by both of them that is why i gave four stars instead of five stars. the pork chops are not that flavorful and on the dry side. For the intestine vermicelli, the intestine is very hard to chew i pretty much end up not eating any of the pork intestine bc i was able to really chew it and break it down using my teeth. but the soup flavor is great. i would definitely come back for its oyster pancake but probably venture out different items next time read more

Drove from the west side to Alhambra because the girl and I were craving Taiwanese food (we are both Taiwanese). We got the pork chop rice (amazing), the meat in sticky rice (excellent), the beef noodle soup (mediocre - the reason for the 4 stars), the oyster pancake (not bad - much better on the streets of Taiwan, and could be sweeter, but I loved the veggies in it), and the honey green tea (amazing), and the plum juice ("pretty good," says the girl). I think with Taiwanese restaurants, they all have their specialties, but because they are "Taiwanese" restaurants, they feel obligated to have most of the staples (ie: some seared or fried meat over rice, Taiwanese sausage, beef noodle soup, etc). For Golden Leaf in particular, their specialty is definitely the pork chop. Come for the pork chop. Didn't try the stinky tofu, will try next time. read more

Came in here for a quick bite and ordered the beef noodle soup. To my surprise the soup, the beef and the tendon were tender and well cooked. The noodle was chewy but I think the noodle makes the dish 4.5/5 instead of 4.8/5. I hope we can continue to support mom and pop shops like Golden Leaf. I came in the first time for the Oyster Pancake and it did not disappoint. You can tell the cook made sure the dish is well prepared and well portioned. The pancake is big and flavorful. Unlike some oyster pancake from other restaurants, tasteless and small. Golden leaf does the beef noodle and oyster pancake right. It definitely tastes like the food I can get at a Taiwan night market (Shilin). Hope you guys will get around to try this place out, I would say the place is kind of small. The braised pork is pretty fatty, so it can get a bit oily. But this also means that it has a lot of flavor. The pork comes in huge chunks. My friend introduced me to this Taiwanese hole in the wall (family) restaurant. Although we beat the dinner rush, this place is extremely popular with the locals. I stuck with what I know best which is the beef noodle soup. It was absolutely delicious. You can tell that the broth is well marinated and the beef is quite tender. We also ordered some appetizers including the oyster pancake and some boiled greens. I wasn't a fan of the oyster pancake, but it still was good in small portions. The boiled greens were really fresh. My suggestion is to visit this place during off peak hours or else you may be waiting for a table since this restaurant is so small. read more

Quaint restaurant with delicious food. The beef noodle soup was arguably some of the best I've had in my life and I've had some in Taiwan before (as a comparison). The service needs a little help and I think it could be improved just by extra staffing. This place opens for lunch and they take an afternoon break and reopen at 5 for the evening diners. Finally I went to the front door and saw there was a sign saying they were closed that day. Giving this 3 stars just to make people aware that the shop may still be closed. Decent place for Taiwanese food, mom and pop style restaurant. The prices are reasonable aside from their veggies I feel are a little steep. During lunch hours this place does have a wait at times. It's a small restaurant located in a little strip mall. My mom likes to come here since their food tastes pretty good. I like getting their Taiwanese Sausage with Rice. Usually it comes with two sides, not of our choosing but typically different each day. The portions are better than most Taiwanese joints in the area. I do really enjoy their Oyster Pancake. It's a larger portion and I do have to say it tastes better than that of Old Country Cafe and Sinbala. The Pork Chop Rice is not fried which is nice and is tasty as well.
