I reluctantly returned to Golf Mill Ford today to have a trailer hitch and roof rack installed as it was included in the price of the car. I was hoping after having had my GPS stolen from this location last week that I wouldn't have any problems today. They did install the roof rack and trailer hitch although the rubber cap was missing from the trailer hitch and they assured me they would send me one by mail. I called to get information and the very polite sales women said she'd email me in the next 60 min. I never heard from her. The next day I got a follow up call from Hector. He tried to help but called back with the wrong information. He asked again and called back with better info but still never answered my questions. I than went to the dealership. No one looked at us. In November it was under warranty and in march it was out . The service guy ( rick fish ) told me that you had it replaced within the warranty time length on parts and service . Now after 2 day of having my car , he calls me to tell me its a wiring problem not the switch so it is not covered under warranty . Snd want s 325 !!! Complete nonsense . Dealer promised me to get a brand new Ford Explorer Limited vehicle with less than 30 miles on it. They took my deposit of $500. Got me sign on a Windows sticker. In the end, they did not deliver on what they promised. I wasted my precious Saturday for no reason. They did refund my deposit. I was recently sent a promotion in the mail by Golf Mill Ford. I called ahead to verify the promotion and was told it was valid and I needed to come in to discuss it. When I came in I was told the promotion was not what it seemed - a classic bait and switch (which I'd note the staff member I called explicitly said "This IS NOT a bait and switch!"). When I asked to speak to a manager one came over and promptly walked away when he realized I was unhappy. A second "manager" came over and started to insult my intelligence telling me I can't read well, telling me I'm wrong and implying I'm stupid, and eventually also walked away when I started to show I was upset. Not only was I treated poorly, but I also saw a woman asking about the promotion who was also insulted and laughed at by staff. After waiting for a while with nobody who was willing to talk to me aside from a staff member who said "I'm sorry I don't know" I left the store feeling walked all over and stupid. This has to be one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I've had in my life. I was insulted and straight out lied to. I am a die hard Ford owner and lover, but would I recommend this place to others? Not even my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and don't promote shameful business ethics and tactics like this. The worst place ever. The management there thinks they are the best and only Ford Dealership around and that everything they say is the only way to do it. I had a recall on my vehicle, and they outright refused to fix the problem (three times), even though letter says to take to ANY Ford dealership. Eventually called Ford Customer Relationship, which was great to work with and they immediately got on the phone with Golf Mill. They talked with the manager and I dropped call off the next day. Was told car would be ready the day after. Went to pick up and they "lost" my car. After searching all over (about an hour of time), they found it in the back of parking lot and they didn't even work on it and said they won't because I didn't buy the car from their dealership, but rather a different Ford dealership. Called Ford Customer Relationship person back, she expressed the disappointment with them as they are required to address recall issues at any Ford dealership, she was kind enough to send someone from Bredemann Ford to pick up my car and they took care of it immediately and informed the regional Ford contact as she was surprised that they were refusing a request from Ford Corporate. If you come for service and have low expectations, well really low expectations, you won't be as disappointed as I was. When they don't answer your call/don't call you back for a day or when you get there and really doesn't feel like they even want your business and your expectations were just that, it won't be as bad. I would find another ford dealership even if it takes more time to get there... If you need a rental car the enterprise within is a nice feature and the dealership could probably take a lesson or two from them. read more

This review is for the service department. I am currently sitting in the waiting room while my car is allegedly getting an oil change. I have been waiting 4 hours, with no end in sight. When I arrived at 9 am, I was told it would be 1 hour. After 3 hours, I complained and was told that my car was currently being worked on and would be done soon. Being dubious, I walked back to the shop. My car was sitting there untouched. 3 hours and the oil change hadn't even been started. I understand that things get busy, but if that is the case I should have been told an accurate wait time in advance. However, I doubt it was that busy. I blame utter incompetence. To be fair, they did offer to do the oil change for free (sounds like an admission of fault to me), but I would much rather have my Saturday back. I hope they get the oil change right. Got treated the same way - manager implying that I was A) stupid and B) the only person to have an issue with the "contest". As I was leaving, more people were pulling in, contest card in hand. Worst experience ever with a car dealer. I went in to purchase an F150 that was advertised on line for $41,000. I asked for an OTD quote but was told I would have to come in for that. That should have raised red flags. When I got there the vehicle turned out to be a demo with 6000 miles on it and the price went up to 48,000. I was told I didn't qualify for all of the discounts reflected in the advertised price (nobody could). The ad puts no qualification on the advertised price, so in my opinion, they are blatantly practicing false advertising. I think that anyone who would purchase a vehicle from these dishonest people is an idiot! I now see they have made a response to my post, and they still have the nerve to deny any wrongdoing. I have had several good experiences at Golf Mill Ford. I bought three new cars over the past 6 years and walked away feeling good about the deals. Because they sell in such high volume they are able to make you deals others can not or will not in regards to price and financing. The service department has changed my entire line of thinking. I went in for an oil change and when they did their inspection they came to the conclusion my battery needed replacing. The guy came around and showed me the printout and explained it. I was floored that they actually did the inspection. They said it would cost me $125 but they had a $25 rebate as well. I excused myself and checked battery prices on my phone. Best price I found was $115 for a mid grade battery and I would have had to taken my battery out and brought it to the store myself for the core. Then if the battery went bad I would have to rinse and repeat. I gladly agreed to have Golf Mill replace it. After that good feeling I decided to get a quote for tires. They gave me several options and I said price was a major factor. They recommended a mid grade tire and they did the unthinkable. They actually price checked the tires and printed me out a extraordinary quote. The installed price was actually less than similar tires from Tirerack.com shipped to my house, never mind having to pay to have them installed. I have had other notable experiences but I will cut it short. read more

I walked into Golf Mill Ford with printouts from the Internet of a few vehicles that met my search criteria. The vehicles were all within my price range and I understood that tax and title were extra. Once I was in the showroom, the salesman informed me that I could only hit those price points if I qualified for all the rebates, which included being a recent college graduate, member of the military, first responder, etc. I had to be ALL OF THE ABOVE. Also, because I wasn't financing, another rebate was taken away. One vehicle I wanted was also withdrawn because it had been a loaner vechile and was not eligible for purchase. Some might argue that this is known as "bait and switch." The approach by this dealer to get me into the dealership (over an hour commute) was purely deceptive and I will never go back. I was in the car business for a long time. So I know the good bad and ugly. My daily driver approached 130K. It was time for my 2005 Ford 500 to retire. I had bought one car from Darwin Linsagan already. I called him and explained my company discount through Ford. I emailed him discount numbers. He knew exactly about the discount. When I walked in he had keys ready to go for me to test drive. We thought that I would like the Fusion. However, it was not comfortable for me. I really was not happy. Darwin was very patient. I finally decided on a Focus after going around the lot several times (for over 3 hours). Darwin spent a lot of time with me and eventually made me a VERY satisfied customer. If that was not enough I got in a horrible accident 1 month later after my purchase. Darwin helped me plan ahead in case it was totaled. It was fixed but he put my mind at ease. It was the biggest mistake of my life ever buying a used car from this dealership. Less than a year ago, I purchased a 2010 Jeep Liberty that had only 24,00 miles on it. Now I one there's always a risk when buying a used car. Trust me, I even worked at a car dealership for 3 years. I know not everything is going to be perfect. I go to leave the dealership the night I purchased it, the check oil light is on. It needed an oil change. No big deal, but you think they would check that before I go to leave. Within the week I had the car, the tires would not keep consistent tire pressure. I call the dealership, they tell me to come in. I live over an hour away. I come in, the tires are bad, they replace the tires. Which I was VERY grateful for. Again, why wasn't this checked before? Two weeks later, my middle bent stops blowing air, I call my sales rep. He says to bring it in. I call the service dept., they tell me to bring it to a local Jeep dealer since they don't service jeeps. He also tells me this will not be covered on my Ford Extended Warranty. So I left the issue alone, since I didn't have the money to repair it. A month later my check engine light goes on. I bring my vehicle to Wickstrom Jeep in Barrington. Long story short, I've had to have my spark plugs replaced, my entire fuel system cleaned, I need new brakes, and now I've been told there's an issue with a valve causing misfires. All over the course of a year. Hence the reason my check engine light has been going on and off. Oh and the distribution system behind the dash needs to be replaced for my vents to work. That's not covered and costs another $1500. What a joke. DON'T EVER BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. read more

Their sales tactics have me not wanting to set foot on their property. I was looking for a certain model of a Ford truck, saw they had it advertised on the web. I decided to try their online chat to confirm it was the exact model I was looking for and if they indeed had it in their lot. The first thing they say is, "what number can I call you at?" I told them I am chatting online, I do not want them phoning me. 15 minutes of tinkering back and forth on line with them, then the guy says "sorry this is taking so long, we have having a really big sale here today..." try to get me in. I told him "I only want me two questions answered, can you answer them or not?" The outcome? After twenty minutes of online chat, I was told they have no record of having had such a vehicle with the VIN number they advertised. With that type of screwing around with customers to try to get you to come by so they can sell you something you are not looking for, they have succeeded in convincing me never to set foot on their slimy lot. Keep up your current business practices, you'll eventually end up going out of business and you'll blame it on "the economy", not yourselves. read more

I had a very good experience at Golf Mill Ford this past week (8/4/2014). I did not have an appointment and got helped by Jorge Collazo, a sales representative. I did end up buying a car that day, even though it was the first place we went. Jorge was super friendly and got us what we needed for our trade (we owed more on our van than it was worth and he got us just about the price we owed). We bought a used car and Jorge was great with the process. He was not pushy and just what we needed in terms of a sales rep. The car we bought is the fifth car I've ever purchased and this experience was my best experience. The facilities are nice and remodeled and the inventory is pretty big. I am very happy with my overall experience. I do wish they would have a poster up of "Stu" -- I miss that guy. It would add to the ambience of "local business" if they displayed Stu. read more

I bought my car at a different Ford dealer which was too far to go back to for service (and NOT a place I really EVER want to go to again!). After a really rocky start with the service department, on all levels, I got angry and that's when good things started to happen! He did just the right things to handle an unhappy customer, and I will go back there again, but will always talk to him directly. They are ridiculous... I have been trying to get in contact with someone from the finance department for the past two weeks. I left 3 voicemails and no one got back to me. Finally, I called again today and was told that no one is available but they will call back in 15 minutes. I was called hours later when I was unavailable. When I called back, of course, they were unavailable again. Of course, they SAID they were going to call me back in 15 minutes. And of course, they never called me back... We bought a brand new 2015 Ford Mustang GT from this dealership. There was a problem with a noise coming from the drive shaft at approx 509 miles. We took the car back in a panic. After taking it back twice they worked on the car and after the mechanics reviewed the issue and flung adjustments stated this clinking noise from the drive shaft was normal. We took it to another Ford dealershership after the horrible service and serious issue not being resolved. The car was at this new dealership for almost 3 weeks. Not only did they communicate constantly but also contacted Ford Corporate. The issue is not resolved. They followed up with a call a few days afterwards to ensure everything was in working order. I have a 2003 Ford F-150 Supercrew truck that was having problems with the fan switch for both the AC and heat. After doing extensive research on-line I figured out that a faulty motor resistor was causing the fan only to work on "high". I called the dealer in the South Loop, they gave me a price on the part that they needed to order (1 day wait) and tried to get me to service. No one answered and I ended up leaving a message...5 hours later, they still haven't called. Therefore, I decided to call Golf Mill Ford to see if they had the part and about how much it would cost for labor. I spoke to Johnny in the service department and he said he could get me in and out this afternoon. I spoke to the parts department and they put the part on hold for me until I arrived. I met with Johhny, he did the paperwork and several minutes later the parts guy came to see me to verify that I was the one they were holding the part for today. About 45 minutes later they were done and I just needed to wait a few minutes more for a car wash. I paid about $115.00 for Labor and the part....So worth it to have AC in the "dog days" of summer and heat this winter. So very glad I did not read the reviews....even from today....I had a great experience! read more

Yes, I agree, I was ready to buy a C Max today and they changed the price of the trade in they quoted me last night (after they had the car for 15 minutes to inspect). The day before they promised to provide a $6,000 trade in value. When I went back to purchase the car...All Cash...the head used car salesman insisted that they would offer me up to $6,000. Then he walked around my car again and said I can offer you $5,000. This was after I drove from Lincoln Park on a Saturday afternoon with both my older parents. If this was not a "BAIT AND SWITCH" then what was it? I decided to walk out the door unless they lived up the previous night's offer. I wonder how they became the largest volume FORD dealer with this behavior. I must say I was less than pleased after dealing with all the traffic. I have a ford and called to get a service quote, I knew exactly what I needed and was just calling around to compare prices from various shops, some dealers, some privateers. Full details below but in the end these guys wanted twice as much as another ford dealer just 15 miles away. I had to call these guys three times back to back to back. First guy sent me to someone's voicemail, weird. Second call the service guy couldn't quote parts and service so he had to transfer me, then the parts guy had to transfer me back to service to get the labor but failed. Third call, I had to provide the service guy the part price and ask for only labor quote... Transferred again and finally some guy says $377 labor only. Haha... Crazy overpriced jerks! The next dealer I called (riverside ford) gave me the complete quote parts and service with zero transfers with the labor charge of $177! Less then half! Pretty obvious I won't be wasting any money with golf mill. To boot, everyone I dealt with in service at golf mill had a lousy attitude. The only guy with a decent demeanor was the parts guy, which is why I'm giving 2 not 1 star. read more
