Let me preface by saying this: My experience was SO BAD that I had to get the consumer protection agency and my attorney involved. I have never purchased a vehicle from them but I did service my truck there, regrettably. They are crooks that would take your money, lie about the condition of the car, and screw up your vehicle just so they can get more money from you. I brought my truck in for what was gonna be a simple fix and it escalated into a horrible drama when they misrepresented facts and told me the truck was running "smooth" and "great" to mislead me into doing more repairs on it that were totally not cost effective. After the truck "ran smooth" I had to bring it back because it was not really drivable. They diagnosed other issues and said it'll be around $7,000 to get it all fixed. They are FRAUDSTERS, and please for the love of God stay away from them... and if you ever have to deal with a smirky service manager Dean, make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing because they are gonna turn tables on you. Not only did they screw me on my car but this isn't their first time. I bought my car in mid August of 2023, I had the car for 15 days before the engine went out on it. The car was never inspected before being out on the lot, the car had multiple issues that unfortunately happened after I left. Golf Mill Ford has been running me around in circles for the last six months, one day it's one story the next it's something different. They've given my car back three or four times saying it's fixed, each time I got it the check engine light was still on. The GM, Mario, refuses to be in contact with me and just has me speaking to different sales associates. The one and only time he showed his face he yelled at me telling me this was all my fault for not getting a newer car, and not knowing more going into this. They haven't helped me, they haven't fixed my car. I will continue to post about this EVERYWHERE /'d EVERYDAY until it is solved. I had been going here for 4 years. I have 2 Fords, and always brought them, to the dealership, for repair. My last few visits were trainwrecks. Everytime, I made an appointment over a week in advance, they can never get to the car that day. Once I was told they have 40 cars in their que. Why did you make appointments? It took 2 days to look at it, then 2 days for parts. They kept my car for a week. One problem was my heat/cool seats. They connected the under-seat vent, and said it worked. 2 days later, it didn't work, and they wanted $1100. Even after this, bought a used Explorer, from them. Though Mark did fine, and we were happy with the purchase, we were overcharged $600, by innocent mistake. We also couldn't connect to the Ford Pass, because the previous owner never disconnected, so computer needed a reboot. We made a deal for me to come in on Wednesday, for check and to rest computer. On Wednesday, no check and service was never contacted. Then service said it could take 4 hours to rest, and they might not get to it today. I was told later that day, a check would be sent out Friday (I was told this 3 times), but no check. They made a appointment for the computer for a week later. After 3 weeks, I finally got my check. I had to tell them I am coming in for it, have it ready. Now comes the really sad part. This guy comes out, who is "the big manager", and gives me every excuse in the world for the poor service. No apology. No offering of compensation, for wasted time or effort. All I got was, "let's not dwell on the past", for every issue. To you general manager, don't you know, ALL RETURN CUSTOMERS dwell on the past? That is exactly why they are return customers. Do you realize how insulting and demeaning that statement is? I took your advice. I stopped dwelling on your dealership. When people ask me where I bought my car, is their service good, or would you recommend them, should I tell them, "I don't know. I don't dwell on the past."? As it turned out, I got a appointment at Schaumburg Ford, the next day, to rest the computer. I took 15 minutes. They got a big laugh, that you guys can't take care of a customer, for a small thing. I like them so much, I brought my fusion there. I asked them about the heat/cool seat module. They gave me a price of about $700. Not only don't you appreciate your customers, and can't provide timely service, your prices are extremely high. My dad and I had an appointment with a sales representative (Alex) after speaking with him several times via phone, when we arrived and asked for the rep we sat down while four different people confronted us before someone assisted us. I had a fantastic experience at Golf Mill Ford, so wanted to share it-especially after seeing the terrible reviews that had me wondering if I had gone to the same dealership! On Friday, my 2011 Taurus overheated and I learned that it needed a new water pump (has over 123,000 miles on it), so I decided I'd fix it up and pass that car to my kids, and get myself a newer version! My mom bought her 2012 Fusion new here and had great things to say about how she was treated and the deal she got, so after terrible experiences at Napleton Ford in Libertyville, I decided to try Golf Mill. I worked with Mark and his assistant Joanne in sales, who took great care of me throughout the entire buying process. They listened to me and, knowing what I was looking for, found me the Taurus of my dreams (not kidding, this vehicle made me fall in love again!). We spent a bit of time negotiating, and ultimately Mark was able to meet my needs price and monthly payment wise, so I was extremely satisfied. John in finance is great, and while he offered additional insurance and packages as expected, he did not push when I was not interested. I drove my 2019 Taurus off the lot that night, and cannot say enough about how well my daughter and I were treated from the moment we walked in to the dealership. When it came time for the lease buyout in May of 2021, Darwin reached out to either purchase the lease or get into a new vehicle. I made the decision to buyout the lease. I gave him a hard time and tried my best to negotiate but he was straight up with me about the lease buyout process and gave me hard numbers. As a small business owner, I've enjoyed many fantastic business relationships including (until very recently) Golf Mill Ford. My business requires the use of large transit vans, and I had previously purchased four vehicles from Golf Mill Ford. All three of those prior purchases went smoothly - that's why I'm stunned and disappointed by the deceptive and dishonest business practices employed recently by the dealership. We had hoped to purchase 5 more vans from Golf Mill over the next 5 years, but those plans have changed. About a year and a half ago (early 2022), I'd met with a salesperson about trading in a 2013 Jeep Sahara Wrangler Unlimited (175k miles) for a new 2022 hard-top Bronco. The salesperson offered a $17k-$18k trade-in value for the Wrangler to put towards the $60k hard top Bronco. I was very happy with that offer, and after signing off on ordering the new Bronco, was told that they'd order the car and call me when it was ready. There was also a verbal agreement that there might be a SMALL decrease in the trade-in value of the Wrangler, but I was assured that it would not be a significant reduction due to the high mileage. After not hearing anything from Golf Mill Ford for 6 months, I called them to check the status of the new Bronco. I was informed that the salesperson I'd previously worked with was no longer with the dealership, and the 2022 hard top Bronco was never even ordered. This meant that because the 2022 models were now unavailable, I'd have to sign off on a new order for a 2023 model. Despite my frustration, I signed on for the 2023 model at the same $60k cost as the 2022, and they informed me the vehicle should be ready for delivery in about a year. Ten months later, I was provided a tracking number & product delivery date via a web app based on the vehicle's VIN number. I was notified that the vehicle had arrived and was sent photos from the salesperson. I noticed in the photos that a soft top was installed rather than a hard top. From the get-go I was very explicit about the importance of having a hard top on the vehicle, as it is a requirement for my business. I assumed that when I ordered the 2023 model (which I was forced to do so because they never even processed the order for the 2022 model), all of the specs I requested from the 2022 would be transferred to the paperwork for the 2023 model. I assumed wrong, and when I inquired about this issue, I was told there was nothing they could do and that a new hard top would cost me an additional $9k and another 18 months delay. At this point, even though I was terribly disappointed with Golf Mill's ordering missteps and misrepresentations, I just needed a vehicle. So when it was finally ready for pickup, I went to the dealership, and was told that due to the increase in the price of steel, I would have to pay an additional $6k to drive the vehicle off the lot. This is when I knew I was also being taken advantage of. I'll also mention that when I signed off on the order for the 2023 model, the salesperson offered me FREE Thief Protection Insurance. I was assured that it was 100% free, and would not affect the final price of the Bronco. Surprise, surprise, in the vehicle paperwork upon pickup, there was a $400 line item for Thief Protection Insurance. As if it couldn't get any worse, I was also informed that the original trade-in offer for the 2013 Wrangler went from $18k down to $8k, less than half of what I was originally offered, despite being told there would be only a minor reduction due to the high mileage of the vehicle. While I could share more about our horror story and showroom showdown with Gold Mill, I think you get the point. What I thought used to be a decent dealership is sadly no more. Unfortunately, I have also heard from several friends who have shared similar bad experiences. My warning to you? Avoid Gold Mill Ford. Their lack of integrity and care top-to-bottom, and clear willingness to lie right to my face, really makes me wonder how I ever could have done ANY business with them in the first place. read more
