What a price-gouging group! My kitchen sink was backed up. They sent someone to give me a quote - which turned out to be $489 to fix a clogged sink. THe deal is they come and give you a quote (and charge you $60 which will be put towards the bill if you use them) and then make an appointment to do the job. I did not use them - I had a plumber make the repair for $250 and have since had a quote from another licensed plumber for $199. I don't know what kind of work they do but to gouge at a time when people are out of work is unthinkable. read more

Our garbage disposal stopped working. I scheduled within a day, Brian was prompt, put foot covers on, immediately addressed the problem, fixed it and explained what was going on. Since it was such a quick fix (I guess there is a reset button on the bottom), we took a look at some llongerinng problems in the rest of the house. Two toilets that wouldn't stop runnning and a thermostat shower knob. He advised on age, problems, potential solutions. He gave professional quotes in a clear and digital format (they use iPads that can quickly get a proposal to you). We were able to address 4 problems in thirty minutes. Super professional. Ridiculously expensive, quoted me $832.00 to replace a shower control valve. I found the piece on Amazon for $63.00 and had a handyman install it for $80.00. It took the handyman about 30 minutes to do the job. The service guy was good but the quote was not. read more

My husband and I recently had to replace the hot water heater shortly after moving in to a new condo and called Goode Plumbing based on our realtor's recommendation. We were shown great customer service and professionalism throughout the process. I spoke with Tiffany when making and confirming the appointment - she was friendly, professional, and helpfully explained what info was needed and what to expect. Alex, Ian, and JP were our plumbers. Alex very helpfully walked my husband through the options for replacing the water heater and was very knowledgeable. Ian and JP removed the old heater and replaced it with a new one. It turned out that the water heater size that was previously in our condo did not fit well in the small space allocated for it, so we needed to go to a smaller size. Ian went above and beyond to ensure that we were fitted with an appropriately sized water heater and that we had adequate protections for our downstairs neighbors. Ian explained everything to us and worked really hard to get us set up despite the very hot day and issue with water heater sizing. Both Ian and JP were professional, efficient, and helpful. They did a fantastic job with the installation and we are very satisfied. Alex, Ian, and JP work masks, took appropriate precautions, and followed Covid-19 protocols the entire time they were in our home. We felt comfortable and safe. During the recent downpours in mid May, my basement flooded. To make a long story short, Goode Plumbing came out and quoted me $14,700 for flood control. I decided to have another quote and guess what? The problem was a broken sewer line that was 80 feet from my home, making it the cities responsibility to repair. This problem was totally misdiagnosed, and I felt extremely taken advantage of. I may not know plumbing, but I surely know a very bad deal when I see it. read more

Goode Plumbing was recommended to me by a friend who's been a realtor for over 40+ years. I had a quasi emergency on (of course) Saturday night when my garbage disposal unattached itself from my sink and pulled a pipe out. Fortunately not much water in the sink so no water damage. So I called Goode and explained the problem and they scheduled Brian to come out on Monday. I was told a thorough analysis of the problem would be made and an estimate made on-site without any cost or obligation. Brian told me how the problem occurred and that the reinstall would be minimal in time and money. I was impressed with his professionalism and knowledge and credentials. 6 years with the company but decades of experience as a plumber. I decided to have him work on some odds and ends minor repairs some of which we both agreed weren't broke enough to need fixing immediately. He fully explained the nature of the repairs, time involved, and cost. He completed all of the work (3 different repairs) in about an hour. I used Goode Plumbing several years ago to install washer/dryer connections. They did a great job then so when my hot water heater decided it was time to retire I gave them a call. They had someone at my house - Alex - within 30 minutes. Once we discussed options, Alex got to work. He arranged for a new heater to be delivered and started work to remove the hold heater. Lowden and his brother (who's name I can't remember) arrived shortly afterwards with the new tank and began the installation. They were done in under 2 hours. Before leaving they made sure everything was in working order and that I was satisfied with the work. They even went so far as to wipe down the floors! Ron and Garen did a great job. Ron came last week to give me an estimate. He took plenty of time to explain all options. Today Ron and Garen installed the drip pan. They had to remove part of the baseboard and the hvac vent to access the pipes. They drilled a hole in the floor to install the pan and piping required for the drip pan for under the laundry unit. They cleaned everything up and did an expert job so that you can hardly tell any work was done. The new laundry unit arrived and they made the necessary adjustments to make sure all was in place. I had a really great experience working with Goode Plumbing. We discovered a gas leak in our vintage two-flat in Chicago on a Friday morning and our gas had to be shut off. Goode was the only company that assured they could get someone out to me by at least the next day. They were able to get a technician out that same day. I really appreciated their approach. Chris and Joe really took some time to examine the situation and explained everything very clearly to me which I liked a lot. No pressure or hard sell on any of the options, just a detailed assessment of my problem. I ended up opting for a large-scale project of re-piping the entire gas system for one of the apartments. Chris was on-site every day leading the project and did an exceptional job. Every aspect was well coordinated and the crew took great care in being as minimally invasive as possible and protecting both my interior walls and exterior brick. The GM Tony checked in on the project on-site which I also appreciated. The technicians at Goode Plumbing are expert and professional and they treat your house as if it was their own. Drew was awesome 5 starts for him, first time a plumber came to house and wanted to look at the whole system, (go figure a plumber who wants to look at the whole system to see what is best for your home and how he can help) first step in the house he put sleeves on his shoes, AWESOME. My house is over 100 yrs old so still have cast iron, Drew helped me understand the best approach. He listened and did a fantastic Clean up job. What a real pleasure that I didn't have to clean up after someone doing work in my house. Pricing needs to be looked at Drew had to call office they are very expensive. I thought the job should have been closer to the $300 dollar range but ended up paying $489. Customer service can only go so far if your pricing isn't closer to reality it will be limited. read more

Our seemingly small plumbing problem was complicated. The faucets on our built-in whirlpool bath, which is enclosed in marble tiles, wouldn't turn on. Other plumbers couldn't suggest a remedy without first tearing down a wall. A friend recommended Goode, which in the end saved us a huge amount of time and money and aggravation. Goode's well qualified plumbers Adan and Henry quickly covered their shoes, and asked to shut off our water supply. Our building engineer located the hidden access and together moved furnishings and made our bathroom safe for work. Adan carefully, patiently studied our bathtub and explained the probable cause as well as a highly creative but effective remedy that no one else had considered. No walls or marble tile needed to be removed. Delicate faucet parts, walls, tiles remained intact. Adan and Henry drove to a special supply store to get parts for a beautiful, hard to replace faucet and thus completed the job that same day. At every step, Adan thoroughly explained our options and listened carefully to our needs. If Goode's prices sometimes seem high, as some reviewers noted, taken in this context, they seem like a bargain. read more

Wow, I'm in shock. I had a drain backup that required some sewer rodding and called Goode because they're nearby and get great reviews. They were able to come out quickly and were friendly. But then they quoted me the price: $900 to rod out the sewers, with no camera and no guarantees whatsoever! This is almost three times the highest I've ever paid to have my sewers cleaned at this house. I tried to get them to explain what I'd be getting for so much more money, and they couldn't give me anything except that they do great work. For example, if they wanted to charge me triple the price of others but were willing to stand behind their work for three years, I might consider it. I paid their $60 consultation fee and sent them on their way. I'll find somebody who also does good work but doesn't rod me out too... UPDATE: After I left this review the manager called me and implicated the technician who was sent out for not correctly diagnosing the issue. In fact, I feel that the technician was not at fault and that he was being thrown under the bus. Ultimately, everything about the process was great save for the outlandish pricing. The manager offered to work with me, even offering to halve the price if necessary to make me happy with the overall outcome. While he didn't outright say it, I got the impression his goal was to have this negative review taken down. I ended up having another high quality plumber rod out all my sewers both from the catch basin to the street and from the basement toilet to the main line; he also did the basement bathtub drain, all for $500. The Goode quote did not include anything more than had been done in the past; it didn't include any camera scoping or specific diagnoses; it was simple sewer rodding that they were quoting $900 for. Perhaps I do have a crack in my lines or old decaying clay pipe, but their quote surely would not have covered those repairs. While I appreciate the professionalism and likely the quality of the work, it's just not worth twice the price to me. In my opinion it's essentially like going to a car lot to buy a car that books at $5000, only to be told the lot charges $9000 for the same car because of the great customer service. Perhaps it's worth it to some, but I can't afford to pay that kind of premium. read more

Chris and his team completed a full replacement of our gas pipes--basically the equivalent of a lung transplant for a house. They worked inside on all appliances and on the exterior of our building with a lift. It was a major situation. It would have taken 5+ days without question, but the crew made it happen in 4 business days by putting in a few extra hours to help us get gas restored ASAP. Tony the GM came halfway through the job to make sure the crew had everything they needed to accomplish the project (they did) and he was extremely professional with the follow through. They were absolute experts in a complex project and also tidy, responsible with building security and they were considerate and kind to the people and animals living in the place. I have dealt with a variety of plumbing issues in buildings over the years, and will consistently rely on Goode in the future. It makes a huge difference in a rough situation when your crew knows exactly what to do. read more

I had some work done previously by Goode Plumbing. The work went well, but the pricing was quite high. We are replacing our countertops and decided to get a new undermount sink. I called Goode to find out how much they'd charge to install the sink. They charge $60 for a sink installation estimate, I'd have to take a day off work so they could do they estimate in my house, and they can't even come out for over a week. No thank you. read more

Our (very, very old) hot water heater final gave at about 5pm on Good Friday. After cleaning up the resulting flooding, my husband contacted Goode plumbing around 5:30-6pm Friday. They were able to send someone out to assess the situation the next morning and get a new hot water heater purchased, installed and functioning by 3pm. They have a rude customer service rep who doesn't know how to schedule appointments much less care for/like her job. First tech was nice as he was the owner. He cleaned my unit and got it to function for 2 more months with out error however he didn't clean the part that needed to be cleaned or detect the main issue. Second service tech did not know jack about my tankless water heater and had to call a hotline to "figure out" what was wrong with it. He didn't fix it, he sprayed pressurized air through the heat exchange and charged me $150. Neglected to solve my problem After a little bit of research I ordered the necessary part and replaced it myself, unit is perfectly functional and like new...who knows what they would've charged me but here I am -$300 because of this place. $1,012 to replace kitchen sink drain pipes. (not the kitchen sink-- just the drain pipes).In 30 years of being a landlord I have never felt more robbed by a vendor. This was not an emergency job. I was out of town and after asking my tenant to work from home to meet the "technician" (as they call them) I didn't feel I could reschedule after getting the ridiculous quote. Found my forever plumber!! I've used them once before and after this second visit, will never use another plumber. While doing dishes getting ready for Thanksgiving meal prep last week, my kitchen faucet just stopped working. Found Goode on Angie's list and recognized the name from a couple years ago when they replaced a toilet and injector pump. Left message on answering service around noon on Thanksgiving day and owner called within minutes. He had me take a photo and send it to him. He called back immediately and tried to walk me through an option to self-repair to save me an emergency visit, but it didn't work. He then took my address and told me he'd call me back with details about scheduling a service for that day. Turns out he was en route to his Thanksgiving celebration and I was nearby so he detoured and came personally. He was able to jury rig a quick fix to get us through the holiday and made replacement recommendations - it was a 15 year old Home Depot low end faucet, so I feel pretty good that we got the full life out of the faucet. They then came back and installed the new faucet. These guys are the very best and the epitome of outstanding customer service - highly, highly recommend! read more

The only reason I'm giving a solid 5 stars is because of my guy David. This is the 3rd time I've dealt with this company. I own a grooming salon and they installed our tub. I had a couple issues with my first two times with a different plumber. I believe he did the best he could. But David came up with a better solution! Hopefully my issue is resolved and I don't need to keep getting plumbers out here. If you use this company I definitely recommend purchasing the VIP package so these extra calls don't cost you extra. We had a wonderful experience with the plumbers at Goode Plumbing. We were in desperate need of help as our new home seemed to be falling apart around us. We had been working with so many people on our house and were so impressed when, on the first day, I received a phone call from our crew to tell me exactly what time they would be arriving. It is really great to have people show up on time. Jonathan Delgado explained everything that he and his team, Nick and Adan, would do. Each evening, Jonathan would walk us around the house and explain everything that they had done. We asked so many questions and he patiently explained and re-explained to us until we understood. All of this after a LONG day of working. It was a great education for me and we appreciated all the knowledge that Jonathan had and shared with us. Brian and Chris were the next team and they did the same. Brian explained to me what had been causing some of the issues and then showed me what he did to fix it. Finally, Chris and Joey completed the job. At this point I was getting a bit frustrated with the lack of communication from the top (reason for only 4 stars), but Chris and Joey were so committed to making our house run perfectly and getting the job done I just couldn't stay frustrated. They told me they would stay as late as necessary to complete the job which they did. They were true professionals and really nice people who took the time to explain everything to me, share their opinions, and then ask how I wanted things to look.
