I don't usually leave negative reviews because I always try to focus on the positive aspects of a business and give credit where it's due. Unfortunately, my experience at Great White in Venice left me disappointed, and the main reason was the service. First, we arrived around 9:15 a.m. after seeing that the restaurant opened at 8:00 a.m., only to find out that opening had been delayed until 9:30 a.m. Honestly, that wasn't a problem at all. We waited outside, and when guests started arriving, we got in line and ended up being among the first few parties seated. The food itself was good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. My issue was with our server, Nate. I understand that everyone has bad days, and I also work in the hospitality industry, so I try to be very understanding. However, the service felt extremely cold, detached, and uninterested from the beginning to the end of our meal. I'm not expecting over-the-top friendliness or a formal introduction, but there was virtually no warmth, no engagement, and no sense that he wanted to be there. Throughout our visit, an older gentleman working on the floor (possibly a busser or food runner) showed far more hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests than our actual server did. After we had finished eating, I ordered an orange juice while waiting for some pancakes to-go. I was asked whether I wanted the juice for here or to-go, and I specifically requested it for here. I then waited approximately 30 minutes. During that time, I received my check, paid my bill (including a generous tip), and watched multiple tables that had been seated after us receive their drinks and food while I continued waiting. My server walked by several times, looked in our direction, but never followed up or asked if we were still waiting on anything. Eventually, I flagged down another server, who was very kind and immediately looked into the situation. She returned and explained that the orange juice had apparently never made it onto the screen. However, I had taken a photo of my receipt, and the orange juice was clearly listed and charged. The issue was never the $10 orange juice. Mistakes happen. We all make them. The disappointing part was that nobody simply acknowledged the mistake or offered a sincere apology. A quick "I'm sorry, that was my mistake" would have completely changed the experience. One additional observation: I was told that cash is only accepted if you have the exact amount. That's perfectly fine, but I think that policy should be clearly posted at the entrance or on the restaurant's website so guests know beforehand. Again, I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I genuinely wanted to leave a positive one because the food and atmosphere were enjoyable. Unfortunately, hospitality is about more than just delivering food to a table. Based on this experience, it seemed that our server either dislikes working in customer service or was having a very bad day. Either way, many other staff members we interacted with demonstrated the warmth, energy, and hospitality that guests hope to experience when dining out.
Husband and I shared the banana bread and breakfast burrito (add avocado). He had a coffee I had cold brew. It was a delightful. Great space love the light fixtures. Coffe smelled so good and was really tasty. Food was excellent. Very good breakfast burrito with still crispy potatoes in it. Banana bread was light and griddled and phenomenal.
My friends and I came for a pretty late lunch, and it was busier than expected for 3pm, but no wait for a table. We sat in the cute outdoor patio area under some shade on a really nice day. Our server was friendly and gave my friend recommendations when he asked. I ordered the Pisco Passion and Swim Club sandwich with sweet potato fries. The drink was light and refreshing. The sandwich was delicious with all the flavors combining well together, and the fries were nice and crisp. I do think it's a tad expensive, but I had a good experience there and would consider going back.
Had breakfast at this spot on a Saturday just looking ti go get some eggs, right nothing crazy. This place was next level delicious. Nothing crazy just beautiful food. Had the great white/ wish I had a picture, was refreshing and hardy- absolutely one of the best breakfast dishes I have ever had- pure LA style.. Decided to get the salmon pizza for flight on way out same day. Attached pic., great play in a breakfast bagel. The bar has been raised, well done this place got it.
Wow this place was just ok yes of course their burrito was great but I've had better , and prices are pretty up there. So if you prefer a better taco place then just go up the street. Service was a little hectic slow, since it was really packed. Had to wait a few times to get even ice water or get a refill of water with a lot of people waiting means it was pretty chill just a lot of people since it's summertime so it's just an a ok restaurant . I would maybe try it again but just for coffee or something but not for lunch or anything like that.
I was looking for a place to meet a friend near the ocean. The menu at this restaurant looked delicious and we decided to give it a try. There is both indoor and patio dining. The vibe is casual and beach chic. All of the food is delicious and this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The restaurant has very few parking spaces on site. The only downside is that the paid parking is ridiculously expensive. Anywhere from $10 to 15 minutes to an hour, $20 for two hours and the price goes up and up. There is one hour metered parking nearby which isn't very convenient if you have to keep going back to refill the meter. If you're lucky you might find distant street parking that is unpaid. This is nothing against the restaurant, but as Venice as a city in general. High prices like these without any special validation, are sure to keep people from coming to these places at all if you can't afford it. Perhaps that's how Venice would like to keep it. Only people who can afford the parking are allowed to enjoy these businesses.
Got to stop here with my family after a 12 mile bike ride from Manhattan Beach...they SERVED! Best coffee I had my two weeks in the area, unbeatable acai bowl, delicious sandwhich and beautiful atmosphere. They were steadily busy but the service never missed a beat. I'm still dreaming of my latte - yes you should get two.
Entire experience was fantastic from hostess to paying the bill. I didn't have a reservation, hostess sat me immediately and she was really friendly and cute (respectfully). The ambiance was very chill California energy (I'm from New York lol), which I loved. The decor also was giving spa vibes in a good way. Byredo hand soap in the restroom, okayyyy! My server Joshua was super friendly and attentive, appreciated his good energy. Breakfast menu had a lot of delicious sounding options but I went for the breakfast burrito with hot sauce and it was fantastic. Breakfast burritos are very hit or miss IMO and this was a hit. I also had two cappuccinos bc I am a caffeine fiend and also jet lagged and they were both very good. Highly recommend to anyone in the neighborhood. I just realized they have other locations throughout LA too which I'm sure are also good but this one did not disappoint at all.
I came to visit a friend and this was one of our first stops straight off the plane. Everything on the menu sounded amazing but we ended up sharing the avocado dip, a breakfast burrito, and finished with the diavola pizza. Yummy food!!! Eddie is fantastic and the sweetest! We had great service and my favorite thing about him was that after he learned I love sauce, he kept bringing different in house made sauces for me to try. This restaurant is so beautiful and sitting on the patio was a great start to our afternoon!
Came here on a Sunday looked for reservations they were booked so we walked up and were able to be seated right away. No wait at all. Parking is annoying we parked across the street for $10. It was pretty packed but the food was good, service was good, we had our pup so it's nice to have outdoor seating even the indoor seating insane indoor so we sat inside outside. Walked around the beach afterwards because we had time left and we paid for parking. It's a really busy area but overall the experience was good
Strolled through Venice Beach and stopped by this much-talked-about spot (thankfully had a reservation!). The place was buzzing and had such a great vibe inside. We didn't catch our server's name, but she was an absolute delight - warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We started with her recommendation, the Diavoli pizza--thin crust, perfectly done, and the salami tasted more like pepperoni (exactly what we were hoping for). For mains, my husband had the shrimp pasta, and my sister and I shared the salmon curry. Both dishes were good, but the salmon curry truly stood out--rich, flavorful, and paired with sweet potato, chickpeas, and black rice, which was such a unique and delicious surprise. Ended the meal with a chocolate mousse, and honestly... perfection. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you're around Venice Beach!
Had an absolutely incredible experience at Great White -- easily a 5-star spot. The breakfast burrito was unreal -- perfectly packed, super flavorful, and honestly one of the best I've had. You can tell everything is fresh and thoughtfully put together. Then we got the margarita pizza, and it did not disappoint -- crispy crust, great sauce, and just the right balance of cheese and basil. But what really sets this place apart is the outdoor atmosphere. Sitting outside in the heart of Venice Beach with the ocean breeze and that laid-back California energy is unbeatable. It's the kind of spot where you can relax, people-watch, and just enjoy the moment. Perfect food + perfect vibe = can't miss. I'll definitely be back.
My review is specifically for their breakfast burrito. I've eaten it once before, a couple years ago and it was pretty great. Ordered the same thing (breaky burrito with no bacon, but avocado instead) and it just wasn't up to par. It's always crowded so maybe just an off day? Regardless, this is LA so you have plenty of breakfast burrito spots to choose from. On the weekends, it's a bit chaotic inside and not the best organization so be patient. I might give it another whirl if I find myself back in Venice Beach and craving a burrito. Or maybe I'll try something else for a change. Albeit crowded, ambience is open and welcoming for groups.
The perfect spot in Venice Beach for dining and enjoying a meal that's both healthy and filling! I love the outdoor patio that feels like it flows out from the open air dining space inside with the open doors and windows everywhere. It's the perfect way to enjoy an afternoon or evening by the water here in Venice! Service was very friendly - despite not having a reservation they were able to seat us relatively quickly around 5pm on a Saturday. I also didn't have to wait long at all for the different items I ordered. Starting with the matcha latte, it seemed small and a little bit pricey, but was very high quality and (of course!) aesthetically pleasing, so I'm not complaining too much! For a share plate item, I got the Avocado Dip and absolutely LOVED it. Big and VERY crunchy taro chips to enjoy with one of the best dips I've ever had - SO fresh with the chunky bits of avocado mashed up and mixed with cilantro, red onion, and well seasoned with some pepper. I highly recommend this for a share plate - one of my favorite Avocado Dips anywhere!! For the mains: I personally enjoyed my shrimp pasta greatly - fresh and light, but with a good amount of creaminess to the sauce, and a good portion that filled me up but didn't STUFF me, if you know what I mean! I left feeling very satisfied after eating it! My partner, on the other hand, was a bit less impressed with his fish tacos. Coming in lettuce wrapping and heavily garnished, a got to admit, they were a bit gimmicky. The fish tacos were still very fresh and a great bite, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting that one. Overall, however, the food here is fresh, filling, and full of flavor! I absolutely loved the Avocado Dip and the Shrimp Pasta, in addition to the ambiance and vibes. I highly recommend coming here if spending the day in Venice Beach, especially if it's really nice out! read more
Such a fun Venice beach type experience. We got there at 1 o'clock on a weekday put our name in, and we're told we had about a 10 minute wait immediately after we put our name in at least 15 to 20 people came so we were really lucky. They have indoor and outdoor seating. And on a beautiful day sitting outside was perfect. They do have heaters also we had a very sweet was a bit overworked. Because a little while to place our order and get more water but otherwise it was great. We started with a slice of banana bread a couple of coffees and then had lunch. The ceviche was delicious as the fish tacos. Fun vibe. I used an app called in kind and was able to get $35 off a $100 purchase. read more
It was a cloudy yet hot day and one of my girlfriends and I wanted to grab brunch in LA we found this spot off of venice and heard lots of great things about it. When we got there we were told a 40 minute wait, we ended up walking around for a bit and just like that our table was ready. We got sat and ordered our drinks. I got a strawberry matcha and it was made with fresh strawberry puree and was delicious. We chose to share a few items and all were a hit with us. The truffle pizza is amazing, theres a lemon ricotta on the pizza which made it so balance and not so overpowering with the truffle. The chicken pesto was devoured by us. The hot cake are just normal pancakes but their berry sauce was amazing. I can taste how high quality their products are and it made me feel so good. This place is very busy and hectic so i would plan to wait 30-1hr anytime. Everyone was super friendly but you can tell theyre all busy. I would definitely come back here again. read more
Great White is just the vibey place to be, to people watch, and also be seen. It's feels like such a Venice establishment and it's been on my list for a while. After a workout in the morning, came to grab a bite with a friend. Wait can be a bit long and took us 30 mins for 2 of us. The menu is pretty standard with brunch dishes but some unique Aussie influenced dishes. I opted for a non-Aussie Harvest Bowl which had shaved celery, tahini, avo, lettuce, and charred cauliflower. At the server's suggestion, I added falafel to it. All of it was scrumptious. Each had their own texture and it had a lemony flavor but also an earthy umami flavor from the tahini. I'd recommend it even though it totaled $32 with $8 just for 4 falafel balls. Yes it's pricey but it was fresh and honestly such a great dish. Service was great. He was attentive and I'd recommend a visit to Great White here or I guess the same in Larchmont. read more
I've passed by Great White countless times, always wanted to give it a try. However, the long lines discouraged me. Last week, I finally got the chance to visit on a weekday midday when there was no wait. The food was good--I'd give it a 4 out of 5. We enjoyed most of the dishes, but we were not into their Bolognese pasta. It was unevenly cooked, and the sauce had some unfamiliar herbs that didn't quite work we couldn't finish it. The highlight, though, was their Michelada made with their original beer--super refreshing! The vibe is very Venice Beach/Abbot Kinney 2020--a bright, airy, whitewashed aesthetic. Service was LA friendly. Would I go back? Maybe, but only if I happened to walk by and there was no line. read more

The food here is okay, and the atmosphere is nice. However, the sanitation is very poor. Besides being full of flies, one of the benches was wet and dirty, and the waiter didn't respond to our calls. We waited for 10-20 minutes to check out, and no one paid any attention to us. Therefore, I don't recommend this restaurant. read more

Our party of four was seated pretty quickly for a busy Saturday night, even though the place was packed. Service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. The drinks were great: complex and refresh. The flavors in the tuna tostada were well balanced, and it was the perfect size for an appetizer. We had the salmon coconut curry, shrimp pasta, bolognese, and chicken kebab. Everyone finished every bite and loved all of it. We were so impressed we even had dessert: chocolate mousse and sourdough bread pudding. It all exceeded expectations. read more

Came by on a weekend for brunch and it was busy! 30 minute wait for 2, but the location is great, with the beach/ Abbot Kinney nearby to walk around and kill the time. There's both indoor and patio seating, with a comfy, casual vibe. We tried the smoked salmon pizza and breakfast sandwich, which were both delicious. Great White is a restaurant I've heard of time and time again, but in the many years I've lived here, never actually visited until super recently. A girlfriend of mine kept hyping up this place with how amazing their falafel wrap and drinks are, so I had to dive in! We finished a breathwork class and walked over (super local to the studio!) to be seated in a breezy outdoor patio with the evening skies and a heater next to us. Others dining in fan sit inside the cafe with more lighting or outside, though it's not the most gigantic space I've ever seen. The menu is broadly American, modern dishes with some health-conscious flair, local ingredients, and fusion flavors. Our server was a darling who recommended us a couple of drinks and dishes since we were a little overwhelmed by the choices! We ended up getting the fish tacos and truffle funghi pizza. Our food was really pretty (totally forgot to take a picture of the tacos though!) with a nice mix of vegetables and different flavors since the funghi pizza was warming and cheesy, while the fish tacos were more acidic and refreshing. I really enjoyed my visit here, as service was nicely paced and the food was satisfying. Still, I would love to come here for brunch and try more of their items because I've heard even better about their breakfast and brunch dishes! read more

I definitely get the hype about Great White and I can't believe it took me this long to try it out! I went for a lunch around 2 pm on a Saturday and there was a 15 minute wait. Breakfast is served from 8 am to 3 pm but they have dishes like pizza and sandwiches that are served from 11 am & on. Started off with a tequila cucumber spicy margarita and it was delicious. I opted for the burger with side salad since our waiter said it was the best sandwich on the menu! I can agree this was a very tasty burger but the bread got a little soggy from the sauce! The side salad was AMAZING. Everyone loved the food they ordered! Our server, Mitchell, was very attentive and we loved having him! He made our experience at great white 10x better! read more
Stopped by for brunch and we were definitely impressed. Checked in and it took a bit though eventually we got seated at the bar as we had given that as our preference during the checkin. We ordered the Salmon Mezze plate, Banana bread and the Fried Chicken Caesar and their exceptional coffee ( not sure what beans they use but it's exceptionally amazing). Every ingredient in the Mezze plate and the salad bowl screamed fresh, prepared with intention, amazing and all the synonyms that you can think of off. A big shutout to Tomas who was serving our bar location and was phenomenal, Sarah and then Olivia V who took over and were our awesome hosts for the brunch. Do stop by and give them a chance to knock you out with their amazing hospitality, out of the world food and some amazing hosts who value customer success and do treat their guests exceptionally well!!! read more

Great white is an amazing restaurant that gives you an amazing experience as their restaurant has been tailored to perfection. Their interior features minimalist designs contributing vastly to the ambience the place gives off. The service was excellent. When we wanted to move seats because the sun was in our eyes they didn't mind at all. The food is delicious and nutritious!! It melts in your mouth it's so organic! Brunch on a weekend was about a 1.25 hour wait. They said they would text us when our table was ready, but after waiting about an hour, we went up to the host stand and they were able to seat us. There were multiple empty tables inside -- not sure if they forgot about us or this was an accident or what. When we were seated, servers were not very attentive and seemed disinterested/slightly rude. Food was good but definitely overpriced. Ingredients seemed fresh though. The breakfast burrito was very small. Not sure that I would come back, but glad that I tried. read more

Great food! Cute place a block from the beach. I don't believe you are able to make reservations. I can on a Monday (holiday) around 11am and was sat down within 20-25 minutes of putting out names down (a group of 4 people) What took a long time was the food, there were a lot of people that day, so it was understandable. Small party to medium party friendly! Now for the food! Tremendous burger & sweet potato fries 10/10: the juiciest burger I've ever had!! It was double patty & im a small girl, but eating it didn't make me feel like I was eating a huge burger! It was cooked to perfection Banana bread 9/10: so good! Not overly sweet, but just the perfect amount. The butter & sugar on top was the perfect amount Breakfast Burrito 10/10: great burrito! I will say, nothing fancy, but great tasting Turmeric latte 10/10: great tasting, perfect for a cold morning, amazing flavor Latte 6/10: too milky & not enough coffee taste Overall a great place for brunch with some friends! I have had the breakfast burrito in every dang town in So Cal, and this one is by far my favorite. The salsa is amazing and home made. The cheese is melted. The eggs are perfectly cooked. We love this place. The ambience is nice and clean and fun. We always enjoy ourselves. We usually order to go and take to the beach, but the service here is great. You will not be bummed if you get this burrito. I promise. Mmmm! read more

There always seems to be a wait here, even if there are available tables at the moment, so not sure if they're being efficient with their service? But luckily we were not really in a rush to go anywhere at that time. We came around 12:30pm on a Sunday. The weather was nice and the vibes were perfect for Venice! We were seated at the outdoor patio area. We ordered the eggplant parm pizza, breakfast burritos, and the chicken sandwiches at our table. Overall everyone really liked their order! I had the breakfast burrito and it's definitely on the lighter side compared to the loaded burritos at Mexican restaurants. This one also feels cleaner and less oily, so I liked how it tasted healthier and less greasy. It could be more flavorful because it mostly just tastes like egg, so I wish it had its own signature sauce or something to complement? It did had this sauce on the side, not sure if it was suppose to make it spicy or whatnot, but I feel like it didn't really help with the taste. Prices are about average or little more expensive for a brunch spot. read more

I lake Great White, the food and atmosphere was great all the time. But last time something happened, servers put dirty uniform, Pasta with Shrimps was little over salted. But the worst thing was the plates. All the plates have chipped. The hostess greeted us, led us to the table, and simply dropped tableware and menu on the table. read more
When our group got turned away at Gran Blanco due to an error with their booking system, the staff were kind enough to walk us nearby to Great White. Although they were busy for Sunday Brunch, we were given a table inside to make-up for what had occurred. This Great White location is steps away from the Venice sign and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The design of the restaurant is really pretty and the overall vibe felt very social. It's an all day cafe that is the perfect place for brunch, a date for two, or meeting up with friends. The food was great, I highly recommend the salmon coconut curry and mushroom fries. Our waitress said those were the fan favorites and she was not wrong. Their take on espresso martini was refreshing, it made us forget about how the day started and we were just glad to be there. read more

Great White is a trendy brunch spot in Venice, not too far from the beach entrance and skate park. I was going to get a breakfast sandwich, but the duck bbq pizza caught my eye. I personally love duck, and was interested to see how it was incorporated on a pizza. The meat wasn't dry and the bbq sauce complemented the taste of the duck. The pizza crust was pretty good- not too tough or messy to eat. The macchiato was smaller than expected but I definitely needed the caffeine. The foam art showed that they cared about presentation and put effort into what they served. My friends got the strawberry matcha and poached eggs. The egg yolks were orange yellow and looked like good quality. The side of avocado was kind of disappointing and something that should be passed on since the couple slices were very thin. I would recommend trying to make a reservation because the wait was an hour for our party of 3 on the weekend. This restaurant is also on the inkind app, where there are deals and you can get 20% off app credit through Costco. read more

The Great White is a fun, casual, restaurant by the beach with a modern flare to it. Myself and my friends came here for brunch today and the restaurant was busy and lively. We stood on line to be seated in which we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. It was a beautiful day and there's a bunch of shops close to the beach so we decided to take a walk until our table was ready. Not even 30 minutes later, we were sat and ready to enjoy our meal. The food is amazing here. For drinks, the list is extensive where they have a variety of white, red and orange wines you can choose from, coffees as well as a brunch punch mimosa. I got the brunch lunch mimosa which consisted of orange, grapefruit and Prosecco. For food, I got the Great white Breakie which was absolutely delicious. It consisted of everything I could ask for which was eggs, bacon, sourdough bread, goat cheese, avocado and a little salad of arugula. Definitely delicious and highly recommend. We also got the Brussels sprouts and snap peas for appetizer which was so flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. It's worth the wait! read more

Stumbled upon this cute place while trying to find a breakfast spot near Venice beach. Their aesthetic is super cool- reminds me of Tulum. Very cozy beach vibes. We were greeted and seated very promptly. The cappuccinos are very good. We had the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito. Both are highly recommended and they make their own hot sauce which was a plus. They use byredo hand soap in the restroom which was a nice touch. The staff were super friendly and I would gladly come back here again read more

In A Nutshell: -Great White is a really popular spot to grab a nice meal. -Don't be surprised if there is a line to wait. -If you want to wait less, just ask for a counter top table where you'll sit right in front of the pizza oven. -Speaking of pizza, I highly recommend their anchovy pizza which comes w/ yellow tomatoes & it's one of the best anchovy pizza's I've ever had! -The poke salad pairs really well w/ the pizza too. -If it's a hot day, their lemonade yuzu drink is very refreshing. Overall, I really like the ambiance of this open-air restaurant that makes you feel like you are somewhere along the Mediterranean. read more

We came here around 11:40 am and it was pretty busy already for a Tuesday. We didn't have a reservation and were seated right away with our dog. We ordered the salmon pizza, fries, and the breakfast burrito. All the food was superb and service was decent too. Can't wait to try other food items from the menu next time i come! I also heard they are opening a Manhattan Beach location which i am stoked about since I am closer to the SB area. read more

This place is so cute and they have plenty of gluten free options. I got their chips and guacamole and the chips were so light but tasty. Then I got their gluten free pizza on gluten free crust. They were extra accommodating about it being an allergy and not a preference. The whole experience was 10/10 and I can't wait to come back and try their crispy chicken sandwich which they said they could also make gluten free. They have more than one location so even more reason for you to try to check this place out. read more

Great white is a classic brunch spot! They have a few locations so you don't feel forced to drive ridiculously far if you're on the west side vs West Hollywood. The breakfast burrito and the ricotta pancakes are a must! I have been wanting to try great white for dinner as well since I heard their pizzas are fantastic . You can get a code from them AFTER your first order. If it didn't show up, contact them. Burrito is pretty tasty imo!
