Our A/C went out in our new home, we had several people in to look at the source of the problem and they couldn't figure it out why it was leaking. Anthony showed up thinking he only had to replace a part quickly and I threw a larger issue on him and it was a Friday at 4pm. He not only figured out the issue within minutes of being here he drew a picture for me, explained in detail why this is happening and tested his theory. Sure enough he was right! He tested it and water was leaking everywhere so now we know the source of a major leak thanks to him! He was so happy like this was his house when he got it working, he treated me like a person not just a number and that was important to me. I am rating Greiner a ONE STAR, because of my most recent service call. I have used G-Heat/Cool in my mother-in Law's rental properties to replace and service the units. Our furnace fan would not stop running, the service tech identified that: our furnace and AC are old, the circuit board causing the problem would need to be replaced at a cost of $700. I told him that we wanted to get as much life as possible out of the units before replacing, and only replacing when it was necessary. He then advised the fan bearings had an oil leak, and that the whole system should be replaced because it is less efficient now and is costing more to operate. So, if this system is operating at much less efficiency, and costs more to operate, He further stated that even though he was bidding $700 to make the repair, "this is so old, they might not make these parts anymore so we may not be able to repair it". Are you getting the picture?, there is no way that this part is not going to be available so I jumped on line and found 20 providers in the first 2 pages of Google, with Amazon at the top of the list, prices ranged from $54 - $133. I advised the tech that the part is available all day long for the prices noted above. The tech called the office and advised they could do the repair for $299. So the $300 difference I identify as a straight rip-off, or gouging, you pick the term you like best. They know exactly what is , and what is not available, ALL they do is furnaces and AC! I ordered the part the same day and received it yesterday, and will be installing it today, not rocket surgery. Oh, I fired Greiner from our service contracts. I noted some other reviews on the cost of new systems, $$$$$, I can go with less efficient systems for a long time. Never forget, they are in the business to make the most amount of money, not to help you, you are just the poor sap they are trying to convince to spent $10,000 - $22,000. read more

I wish I could have my old AC unit back. It was over 20 years old and was still not as loud as the $6000 one we got. However, the people were all very nice and the entire experience was very easy and smooth. I highly recommend Greiner! We purchased solar as well as upgraded ours furnace and AC, and went with the duel fuel option for the AC unit. From the start the staff at Greiner have been incredibly friendly and professional. We had the furnace and AC installed in the summer and it was a huge job because new wires needed to be run as there were not enough from the previous unit. They were not able to finish the job all in one day, but they made sure we had a working AC. Unfortunately it wasn't working right, only 1 speed was working, and it wasn't able to keep up with the heat, however Greiner had someone out within 2 hours of us calling and was able to fix it. He even called the next day to make sure it was still working properly, which it was. We were having solar installed as well and the guys were able to finish the furnace/AC hook up when they came back for the solar (it was roughly a week later). Again, they were all incredibly friendly and courteous, and they left the carpet area under the crawl space cleaner than when they got there. When the job was finish one of the guy went through in detail everything that was done, even showing me pictures of what was done up in the crawl space. We use Nest thermostats, which have been challenging with the zone board, however any time I have needed to call Greiner they have someone out right away! I really can't speak highly enough, they go above and beyond and really strive to make everything perfect. read more

She politely assisted me to make an appointment that worked best for my schedule. Then just as we had planned, Alex and associate showed up on time and completed all services that were expected. I called Greiner to have my HVAC system repaired when the AC failed. The contactor on my compressor failed and they replaced it, which fixed the problem. Although I was initially disappointed by some communication issues that we had when I requested a follow-up call and clarification of the billing, Griener stepped up, contacted me and corrected the issue. Sadly, really wanted to seek out an airconditioning/heating company to do an assessment of our systems. Had heard a couple other local companys on the radio so I was debating which of these I wanted to start with since I do need quite a bit of work done. Reviewed several and wanted to start scheduling. I went to the home show in Dixon and since Greiner was there, I decided to go ahead and schedule. We scheduled a date and window of time, but they were a no show! I called and left them a message and when they returned my call, they said they had called and tried to reschedule because they were overbooked for that day. Checked our phone log and messages....none from Greiner! Update: I received a follow up phone message (days later) from the manager saying that in fact we were overlooked because they had put our name on the wrong list?! read more

Be leery and do your research first! We called Greiner because they are open late and offered to get somebody right over after our heater went out. They sent someone out and he inspected the unit. He explained to us that we had a broken gas valve and it needed to be replaced for $650. He gave us a list of other things that were in need of repair and suggested replacing the unit sooner rather than later. We decided to get a second opinion and turns out the unit just needed a minor cleaning and there was nothing wrong with the gas valve. I don't know if the tech that came out from Greiner was trying to scam us into fixing something that wasn't broken or if he needs more training. Either way it left a bad taste in my mouth and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

If you're looking for customer service you are looking at the wrong company - run! In 2009 I rebuilt my home and replace entire AC system (over $14k). I chose this company not because they were the cheapest (they weren't), I chose them because they promised to put take care of ALL the state and utility rebate forms and city permits etc...they also said they would put a damper. NOTHING THAT WAS PROMISED WAS COMPLETED. I had to run to Dixon, get the forms and certs submitted myself and having everything handed to me at the very last hours before the post office closed. Fast Forward to 2016. My Evaporator Coil died in the middle of summer (109 degrees) and it was still under warranty. They came out to confirm and ordered a new one (my cost approx. $1200) which includes two "free" visits. But here's the problem: I EXPLICITYLY ASKED FOR AN ALUMINUM COIL because these last longer due to less corrosion. When the tech got here he installed it but during this time I was working from home and didn't realize THE ONE THEY INSTALLED WAS COPPER!!!! I CALLED THREE TIIMES EXPLAINING MY SITUATION AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD SOMEO!NE WOULD CALL ME BACK. IT'S BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND STILL NO CALL. TERRIBLE! read more

I was trying to keep the work local when my hot water heater was not producing hot water. The technician showed up, the hot water pan below the tank was full of water. He quoted me $2200 dollars for a 40 gal, stated the company did not have the best deals in this type job. Not much trouble shooting when the drip pan has inches of water in it. In and out in seconds stated he felt bad for charging me $79 fee. But he did. I also previously had an hvac system installed at my house from greiner. Think they could cut me a break. Greiner Heating & Air was referred to me by an employee from Lowe's in Vacaville. The following day after calling Greiner, Dan came to my home to do their free (at the time) estimate for repairs. Dependable charged me $65. Dan explained that the older R-22 outside AC unit I had was no longer availble for use in CA. He showed & explained the best possible route for the AC repairs for my home. He wasn't pushy and didn't try to sell me a complete overhaul of my heating and AC, just only what was needed. Long story short, Greiner sent over 2 very courteous and professional technicians (appreciate the great service Heladio & Hector!) a few days later and installed a new R-140 unit and evaporator coil in my home. The new system cools down the house in 1/2 the time it took the R-22 unit, uses less power and runs quieter. Great job Greiner! read more

We have been with Greiner for over 4 years with a Service Contract. Greiner checked and cleaned our three seperate systems each quarter and I thought we were being treated as well as possible. Then, we had a real problem. The first day of over 90 degrees and the primary unit was broke. I called in the morning Saturday for a service repair and was told, no one would see me until afternoon on Monday. Three days, no cooling! I felt that I should have had better service because we were loyal on the service contract and never really called for a problem until this time. I think the retail customer gets the first calls as they are paying full price and my charge, if I were to wai,t was only $19. Maybe I am unreasonable but I felt Greiner should have put me to the top of the line. Needless to say, we fixed our own unit, a mouse had chewed a wire, and I cancelled the service contract. I will probably use Greiner again, just not for service contracts, for when the chips are really down, they don't pencil out. read more

I can not brag enough about this place. On a Tuesday night our ac went out but we were waiting to hear back from the landlord about what he wanted us to do, since he was in Canada. At 7:00 a.m. the next day he asked for us to call and have someone come out. I found Greiner Heating and Air and they were the only place open at 7:00 a.m.. HUGE PLUS! Called and was greeted by Ashley. She was very sweet and very helpful. They went out of the way to help me and my family get back up and running. They were very understanding about the situation and allowed the landlord to contact them through e-mail even though that isn't the normal protocol. I will continue to use them. The advertised "free estimate" cost $79 as a diagnostic fee which of course would not apply to the repair job should I used them. Here are the issues I encountered. 1) Greiner came out as the second opinion to the first quote. Upon arrival, the tech just bad mouth the other company. Something I totally did not expect. 2) With in a few minutes of arrival, before he even completed his diagnostics to determine the problem. The tech tried to sell me an annual diagnostic package. Of course also bad mouthing how the other tech did things wrong. 3) The tech also opened up the freon valve and gave me a shock look like something is wrong. Stating that there is liquid in the freon tube. Since I am not AC expert, I can't validate if he is right or wrong. But a search on the net indicated that there should be some level of oil in the freon. 4) At the conclusion of the diagnostics, the Greiner tech findings was the exact same the other tech's. He then gave me a price breakdown of what things will cost which is fine. However, with in a minute, he lowered the price by about $1,000. That just made my head spin, it just felt very fishy. Incidentally, the quote was near twice that of the competition after the discount. 5) The tech wanted me to make a decision on the spot, I told him I would have to think about the two proposals. So he left. Then during the course of the next business day, I got two calls from his boss and one directly from the tech. Pretty much high pressure sales tactics which was a total turn off. Incidentally, I had the same tech as the previous poster Randy H. In the end, I decided call back the other company. The manager answered my questions without pressure and in a professional manner. I decided to go with the other company. The other company came out. Fixed everything and said that oil is suppose to be in the line. read more

This rating is based on follow up.... About two years ago I purchased solar from Greiner. Talking with the sales person we let he know that we would be redoing the roof and asked about any issues the panels would be if doing them first. We were assured that there were no problems, as we could call Greiner and they would come take the panels off and reinstall them for around $800 dollars give or take. Come to today, and after a few months of calling Greiner, getting the run around, non call backs, blow offs and the final word from Greiner that its a huge problem and that it will cost around $5500 to $6000 dollars to take down and reinstall. (Jaw dropping to the floor) Are you serious? I was told around $800. So now I'm here trying to find someone who is willing to do this. Thank you Greiner for lieing to me, giving me the run around, and treating me horribly after you have done the job. If you read this beware. My A/C unit wasnt working properly so I called Greiner to come diagnose the problem. The "technician" said I had a freon leak and it would cost me $500/year to keep replacing the freon. He tried to hard sell me on a new unit - his starting price for a 2.5 ton Goodman R22 was $5900 - he said he would take $900 "off" the price if I committed to doing it in two days. I called another A/C company and they came out and said I needed just a little freon and a new filter. I had one of the anti-allergenic filters (sold to me by Greiner, incidentally) and he said it was hampering the airflow which was causing the unit to freeze. Bottom line, I spent $50 and the cost of a new filter and the unit is working perfectly now. The Greiner "salesman" and whoever trained him should be ashamed of theirselves. In the three years since Greiner replaced my burned-out air conditioning system, I have had excellent service twice a year. All of Greiner's personnel, from office staff to service personnel, are always courteous and professional. Since I have a service agreement they call twice a year to schedule a visit, at which time they check to be sure the unit is working perfectly, replace the filter (with one I have purchased) and thoroughly examine the compressor unit outside. I finally purchased a filter that has a lifetime warranty and Greiner will check that also, and will clean it if necessary each time they service the A/C system. read more

my return air duct collapsed and called them up to get a estimate to it replaced and they came out and gave a estimate and told me that it was gonna cost 760 dollars to replace the duct and told me that its not guaranteed to work and so i decided to call a few other places and to give me a estimate and found out that had came out and was unplugging stuff on my heater to get me to buy a whole new system. heater and a/c. worst service ever!!!!!!!! by the way the repairman was carlos so watch out for him and watch him at all times id give 0 stars if i could read more

Do not do business with this company, but obviously they could care less about poor reviews....they have many. I was taken by the friendly demeanor projected, however, what they project is not what is delivered. I will not take the time to describe the events, but you have been warned. However, I suspect this is not the first time Greiner has promised service, accepted payment and not delivered, of which I have indisputable proof. Consequently, I plan to seek legal remedy and will entertain class action if there are other victims. I keep hearing Greiner ads on the local radio station and the company had recently helped out the local SPCA so I thought I would give them work. My Mistake! I sent them to a rental and the guy calls me and tells me that I need a new circuit board and the unit is filthy. Total $1,200.00 but if I buy their maintenance plan, I will get a lower price. I told him that I needed a second opinion, which irritated him. I got 2 more opinions and both companies said my circuit board is fine! Total cost for repair was $350.00. Our air conditioner quit working during a heat wave, and when the technician came out, he didn't do anything except for look at some wires and the breaker, which was a little loose. The ac turned on again, and we were charged the $80 service fee for 2 minutes of "work". A couple of weeks later our ac went out again, and when I tried to flip the breaker, the breaker popped and sparked and shut the whole house's power off. After replacing that breaker, we found that the wiring was not connected at all, and the electricity was having to jump across a gaping hole! We are extremely lucky that our house didn't catch on fire! In my opinion, the service technician should have taken a closer look at the electrical issue instead of trying to sell us a brand new unit! Finally we found this company! We have had a house that is cold in winter and hot in the summer. We tried everything we could think of and hired other companies and had an engineering study done. Spent loads of money on propane and bigger, more powerful heatpump. Things got worse instead of better. Greiner is a whole different story. The techs are very knowledgeable and courteous. They didn't do work if it didn't need doing and did the work that actually has solved our problems. I am looking forward to being warm this winter! Should be 6 stars out of 5. read more

I have used this company for several years - I subscribe to their continuing service plan for $11.95 a month, and they come twice a year to service both of my air conditioners and both of my heaters for no additional cost. They wear booties whenever they come into the house and are competent, respectful and professional. I would recommend them to anyone who needs service. I do have to admit that this year, when they moved items in my 3rd bedroom to access the upstairs heater in the attic, they pretty much messed up everything in the room and didn't even try to replace anything where they found it - but they technically aren't supposed to have to move anything, so I can't complain too much. (My house is 22 years old and they have replaced both of my heaters and air conditioners with a very reasonable price and great service - didn't try to sell me the most expensive alternative, and did a great job each time.) I don't remember the individual's name who was here last time, but whoever it was did a good job and I would recommend him as well as the company. Greiner heating and air has maintained our two HVAC systems for over 10 years via an ongoing service contract. Their performance and quality of technicians have been excellant. With their Five-Star track record, we had them covert all our HVAC and water heating equipment to SOLAR. Initially we were focused on just installing solar panels to reduce our electrical bill. Along with this, our furnaces and air conditioner units were over 20 years old and in need of replacement. Greiner's experts had us take a look at a "whole house green" design solution for our energy needs. Additionally, Greiner staff provides a wealth of information on all federal, state and PG&E programs that are available to home owners that fund projects and/or consist of rebate options. We received a substantial tax reduction and rebate from PG&E. As a result of their recommendations, we had them install 52 solar panels on 2 ground mount array structures that are designed to withstand a 110 MPH wind, 2 - duel fuel (gas & electric), high efficient HVAC units, and an electrical energy efficient water heater that's designed for solar operation. Our electrical bills have immediately zero'd out with $ credits back from PG&E. This was a large project and Greiner executed it with excellence. I worked in an engineering department of a large global corporation and found the Greiner tech staff and project manager performed with the same level of knowledge and skill I had experience with during my project work in large plants, refineries, and heavy commercial facilities. I know of at least 4 neighbors who had solar systems installed by Greiner after our system was installed. Greiner uses high quality, commercial grade equipment for all their work. Their designs, materials and workmanship leads to systems that can really last 20+ years. Their design and construction approach is "not to cut corners with materials and installation techniques." For example, their design practice is to install an inverter for EACH solar panel, as opposed to many companies who cut costs by using an inverter for 4-6 panels. This cheap approach cuts costs but, after years of experience, professionals have found that single inverter clusters will typically fail. Installing an inverter for each solar panel also enables efficient monitoring, and diagnostics. Greiner made me aware of the reasons for this design practice and a multitude of other DO's and Don'ts that led to an installation that's trouble free. I can monitor the performance of my system on my laptop, tablet or cell phone via email/Internet. Greiner truly delivers Five-Star performance in all aspects of a project, such as: Educating the home owner, equipment selection, installation, quality technicians, project management, communication on project status, and meeting their forecast completion date! Greiner starts a job and completes it as forecast. They are "tenacious" about staying on a job until it's finished. NO CASES of me asking, "where is the contractor at" When our project was started it was sunny. Then a two week period of torrential rains followed. Rain did NOT stop Greiner from working. The project manager arrived with a 6 man crew. They worked under large rainproof canopies for 2 weeks and continued until project completion. They completed the project on time with excellence.
